While expecting my first child (more years back than I care to count), I read my very first romance novel, and I've been in love with them ever since. I grew up in the ranch country of western Nebraska, and it was inevitable I’d eventually write lots of books about cowboys. I still live in Nebraska with my husband (who is not a cowboy), four married daughters and a whole slew of perfect grandchildren.
I'm a long-time member of RWA and RAH, my local chapter. I'm also one of the founders of Petticoats & Pistols, a popular blogsite for western romance. I love to cook, hang out at my lake cabin, and decorate birthday cakes for anyone who will let me.
3,5 stars. This story had all the ingredients to go to my favorite shelf: An intelligent, strong and independent heroine. A lonely, honest and of few words hero. A road trip. A slow romance. Lots of interesting secondary characters and A credible bad guy, very credible ... But something has been missing. It has been entertaining, I have liked it but I have not fallen in love with it.
Perhaps it was the romance, I have not come to see the attraction between the MC’s beyond the physical. Despite spending 100% of the story together, the chemistry was lackluster. In addition, the heroine’s transformation in the epilogue has left me flabbergasted . The author has not been subtle changing her spurs for the apron ... so very 50’s. And the kidnapped daughter was plain annoying and unrealistic, but this is usually the way with kids characters.
But in short, it has been very entertaining. This is my favorite genre, and I was expecting something that would blow my mind, and although it has not been like that, it has been close.
*Thank you, Jill, for the rec! 😉*

3,5 estrellas.
This was my very first book I read by Pam Crooks. I love this book and Pam became my favorite author and I haven't been disappointed with any of her books so far. This is a great western with a touch of romance, I love western stories and love cowboys. This story painted a good picture of the west and a handsome cowboy. Great story and a quick read.
I care more about the cattle drive than the romance. Each time their thoughts wander towards each other, I'm getting bored and just want to skip those pages. I see no sense in continuing.
Pam Crooks is a new-to-me author. “Untamed Cowboy” is her debut novel. I love starting at the beginning of an author’s career and watching them grow. With such a solid start, I can hardly wait to see what comes next in my reading journey with Pam Crooks.
I have a funny story to share about how I first found this author. I was searching my own name to see how I was doing in the search engines as an author and holistic health consultant. I saw that Pam Crooks has a character with my name in her book, “Her Lone Protector.” Pam Crooks is a goodreads author, so I took a shot and sent her a message asking how she came up with the name. She said that my first name, Gina, is her favorite Italian name and that my last name, Briganti, is the surname of one of the nicest people she has ever worked with. I was thrilled with her warm and wonderful response. Reading “Untamed Cowboy” and loving it was icing on the cake for a book lover/author. Her writing style is as warm as she is.
Carina is a likable, strong, beautiful woman. She’s had some hard times and made a couple of mistakes. That’s nearly all behind her now, except that she had a daughter, Callie Mae, with one of her mistakes. He’s worse than she ever imagined him to be. “Untamed Cowboy” is the story of how she resolves her troubles and falls in love with Penn McClure in the process. He’s a likable character, too, but not too perfect. I liked that he’s real.
When I was 88% of my way through the book I was going to read my two chapters for the day and put it down because I didn’t have my next book yet. The story was much too engaging to put it down. Yes, lunch was late that day. I love a book that won’t let go of me.
Carina Lockett is a single mom and running the C Bar C. A ranch she wants to leave to her daughter when the time comes. Her ex’s mom shows up and takes Callie Sue with the help of Rogan the father.
Penn McClure has been hired on at the C Bar C and is helping with the herd. When he learns that Rogan is the cause for Carina’s heart ache he helps as much as he can. He wants Rogan too.
Can he help get her daughter back or will Carina loose the ranch to Rogan?
The plot was well done you were wanting to hurry and turn the pages. You had to know what was going on. The characters were all well done you really want to dislike Rogan and his mom. There are some laugh out loud moments along with some tender ones. A wonderful story to read.
