I was ready to settle on three stars and call this one a middle of the road Fear Street book. Then I got to the last third, and this book went HARD into the finish line. While earlier chapters feel slightly clunky as the plot is set up, Faces of Terror settles into a rhythm that feels akin to the old school Roger Corman Poe movies. Really wish the back end of the sagas would get digital releases, as these books are going for a not small amount of money these days.

If you can find a reasonably priced copy, highly recommended.

Some parts of this book seemed like it didn't belong in the Fear Street Sagas series (and it isn't in the main section of that series), although, by the end of the book, I thought it seemed to fit in well with the writing of the main Fear Street Sagas. I really liked this book despite being skeptical at first. It is one of those books that you might read at one time because you don't want to put the book down until you find out what happens.

3.5 stars - Elizabeth goes looking for her brother at his place of employment, and she discovers the artist makes *very realistic* wax figures. I didn’t really understand the ending - what was the significance of her using the wax to cover her burn scars? The tie-in to the Fears seemed a bit awkward.

Lets head back down Fear Street and to the legendary Fier Family.

Can you remember the last time you saw a wax figurine? Can you remember if it was life like?

Meet Elizabeth and ask her. I can guarantee the following :-

They are terrifying
They belong in the movie house of wax
They are life like

But

One thing to remember the muse of these figurines waste away

And

Above all remember Peter is Fier.

It's about a girl that her dad went to war and died. Her mom died and it was just her and her brother left. He brother had to go work to try to get his sister back. They loved each other. They would write to each other when the brother could write back to her. The the sister wanted to go and see her brother. The sister and her friend really wanted to leave because were they were working they didn't like it. So they heard that were the brother works would be in town for a wax figure show off show thing. So they went there and left with the driver and went up to the mansion. The sister was looking every were. Her friend agreed to work with the boss. She found the driver kid had got killed, and she figured out that the boos was two different people and the maid was only like 21 years old and looked like she was 60. She had gray hair, and wrinkly skin. Then she found her brother and he was a wax figure. Before she found the brother she found her friend in the same room dancing. Her friend always wanted to be dancing in a ball room. Then she set the whole place on fire after ripping a piece of wax off the bosses face. She ran out when the maid showed her were to go. Then the maid went in the place and died with the boss person. Then the sister (the only one left in her family), saw herself in a pond. Mostly her whole face was burnt. She figured out that she still had the piece of wax in her hand. It was still warm and she could still make something out of it. Then she shaped it around her face and she would have to start a new life with the wax on her face.
