Divine Appointments: Lord, Open My Eyes Today to a Person Who Needs to Know You, and Give Me Your Words to Say.

Rate this book
"When the Spirit of God has shed abroad the love of God in our hearts, we begin deliberately to identify ourselves with Jesus Christ’s interests in other people, and Jesus Christ is interested in every kind of man there is." —Oswald Chambers Every day we have opportunities—divine appointments—to introduce broken and lost people to Christ and plant seeds of faith. But many Christians remain unaware of these divine opportunities, or they stumble over their fear of rejection and feelings of inadequacy. The fact is, in order to participate in God’s redemptive plan for unsaved people, we must view faith-sharing opportunities as calling, rather than as mere coincidence. From the very first page, Divine Appointments inspires and brings awareness of God’s desire that all believers share the good news with those who cross their paths. This book provides a step-by-step approach to help you make sharing Christ a way of life. Matthew Jacks writes, "If you have accepted Jesus Christ, you can trust that the Holy Spirit hovers in and around you at all times. And He’s got big plans for each day that go beyond earning a living, caring for your family, and enjoying leisure time. The Holy Spirit appoints each of us to God’s great welcoming committee. We all have a role in shaking hands with those for whom God is a stranger and sharing His love through word and deed." As you read this book, ask God to increase your awareness of divine-appointment opportunities and stay constantly ready to bring Christ’s life-giving news to the people you encounter each day.

A great and challenging book!
I came to understand that I do not have to be a theologian in order to share the Gospel. Sharing the Gospel is, before anything, living as Christ did. Sensing the need and loving the sinner. Only after that comes the work of talking about Faith.
When I think about sharing the Gospel I often remember what a pastor once said: "Before the uncurched will read the Gospel of Matthew or the Gospel of John, they will read the Gospel of [your name], so live accordingly!"
This book challenged me to trust every encounter in my life to God, because He is the One that changes a heart. Sharing the Gospel "is not about me doing my own thing, it is about Him doing His own thing through me."

This was an excellent book about how God constantly gives us opportunities to love people and share Christ with them...sometimes just in the way we treat them and help care for their needs and at other times by actually sharing the Gospel with them. We are so insensitive..often not seeing the opportunities..the "Divine Appointments" God gives us each day. And at other times we see them but arent willing to give enough of ourselves or time to care.....

This is a tremendous book that I like to read on occasion to remind me of the daily instances I have appointed to me to minister to other people I meet throughout the day. This is a must read for every Christian who wants to impact their world with the Gospel!
