"Party time? Nobody does it better than the Murphys and the Chases. "
"Visits to Petal, Book 2"
Lily and Nathan's wedding is just a few short weeks away, and the Murphys and Chases are doing their parties up right!
It's Friday, and the women head to the Pumphouse to celebrate with cocktails, cake, and laughter. The men? They're at the Tonk for beers, wings, and trash talk.
Throw in party games, penis hats, and crazy-eyed ex-fiancees, and it's bound to be a night they'll be talking about for a long, long time.
Fast-talking southern women cracking wise, and the men who love them.
Lauren Dane has been writing stories since she was able to use a pencil, and before that she used to tell them to people. Of course, she still talks nonstop, and through wonderful fate and good fortune, she’s now able to share what she writes with others. It’s a wonderful life!
The basics: Lauren is a mom, a partner, a best friend and a daughter. Living in the rainy but beautiful Pacific Northwest, she spends her late evenings writing like a fiend when she finally wrestles all of her kids to bed.
2.5 stars. Again not a badly written story but just…meh. Same story written now 6 times along with a novella. I just didn't care and by about the half way mark I started skimming. Lauren Dane, PLEASE, enough already.
REVIEW Once again I'm being totally honest here, I didn't read the Goodreads Blurb for this book, which is unusual as I do normally check out a book/novella I want to read on Goodreads first. I'd read the Alone Time novella, loved the character within the novella and wanted to try the next title in this series by Lauren Dane and as this one was also free I just downloaded it and read it. The cover features a couple embracing, so of course suggests romance and though once again, some people on Goodreads have classified this as erotica, to me, I'd say that when put together with "Alone Time" there is a plot. As standalone novella there wasn't enough plot, or enough information, and moving on in a storyline for me. Having said that both this novella and the one featured above in this post are meant to be read as additional stories to the Chase Brothers Series not as I have read them as though prequels. Total honesty here, they were free to download so I thought I'll read them and see if I like the characters that I get a glimpse of in them. Well they worked in that way for me as I took a liking to the characters and would let to get to know them more. This series may not be paranormal, so is not featuring a pack of shifters ,but there seems to be a very strong family unit at the centre of these novella's that I would certainly like to read more about. So Lily and Nathan are soon to be tying the not and in this novella the men are at a bachelor party and the women a bachelorette (or as we would say in the UK a hen party). So we see how the males act and react with the other male members of their family, and the same with the bacholerette's dressing up and having a "theme" for their evening. I do think I will adding the Chase Brothers Series to my "Want To Read List". To sum up I still enjoyed reading this novella even though it wasn't necessarily the order they are meant to be read in.
Party time? Nobody does it better than the Murphys and the Chases.

Visits to Petal are bonus chapters written as a fun thank you to the readers of the Chase Brothers and Petal, Ga series. They are NOT standalone.
I love the camaraderie between these characters. You can tell they are a close knit group. However, because I have stupidly decided to jump into shorts without reading a bit of the actual series I did not feel connected at all. I was clueless to who was talking and lost on who was who. But that is 110% my fault for attempting to read out of order. Ms. Dane’s writing was great, entertaining and amusing. I just need to dig into the real meat of the clan.
I was actually quite a bit disappointed with this one, it just didn't live up to what I hoped it would have been. It is not essential to the series and you wouldn't miss anything by not reading it but would only recommend to fans of LD's Petal or Chase series.
Another fun little snippet that lets us see where favorite characters are at in Petal, GA. I loved the sass and the large quantities of penis-themed goodies that were present. Beyond the penises, the relationships between the various characters is so fun. They joke, they tease, they're rude and crude and they love another to pieces. <3
With Nathan and Lily’s wedding rapidly approaching, the bachelor and bachelorette parties are in full force. Quick little glimpse into the lives of Petal’s favorite characters as they spend their evening with friends, when what they really want to do is be with their loved ones instead. Fun quickie for fans of the Petal series.
I love that Lauren Dane continues with these little stories about the Chase brothers and their wives and families. I especially loved Maggie and Kyle in the beginning of Girls' Night Out. So sweet!!! Just a fun read and I'm looking forward to the next one!! :)
I'm interested in where Lauren is going with Royal's story and if she will include the Chases and Anne's family if he is not with her.
This was a very short book - only 3 chapters. It changes Point of View quickly and it gets kind of confusing. There are so many characters introduced I have no idea who is who. It probably because it's the book number 2. I blame Naimah for showing me the books on playstore
A short but great peek at the lives of the gang from Petal, GA. I love both the Chase Brothers series and the Petal series by Ms. Dane so it was a given I'd jump on this!
I love how the author put 2 families together couple wise, it made the families more together and provide lots of support and love for one another. I also love how she plotted out the bachelor and bacherlorette parties. This was a wonderful short read =)
This night is made for partying for the bride and groom to be. Lily and Nathan’s wedding is coming soon, of course, their families and friends have planned the best and zaniest bachelorette and bachelor parties for them. If anyone can put on the best get-togethers to wish Nathan and Lily the best for their upcoming wedding it’s the Murphys and the Chases.
The girls have gone all out to find the best party favors and treats that will tease them all with one of the best parts of their men. Of course, the stories and the memories come out when the teasing and fun begins at the Pumphouse. Even the men at the restaurant are having fun watching the women party.
The boys are going to be outdone, but since strippers are out, it’s off for beers, pool and trash talking at Tonk’s bar. Of course, since it is the Murphys and Chases no one is really surprised when the men’s party in interrupted by jealous exes and ultimately by their well-loved women partners– with party favors in tow. The night ends up with much laughter, raunchy jokes and the type of love that will hold these characters together through thick and thin. Just another night of celebration for our two favorite families and their friends that make Petals, Georgia a great place to visit.
Lily and Nathan’s wedding is nearing, so there has to be the going/giving away parties as only the Chases and Murphys can do it. Girls’ Night Out is a view into the ongoing lead up to Nathan and Lily’s wedding. This time it’s the night of the bachelor/bachelorette parties, and I was not surprised when the cake and party favors started a night of laughter, fun and loving. The boys might not be having quite as much fun as the girls are, but that only lasts until the girls suddenly show up to end the night with the men they love – just as it should be. Of course, a couple of sour apples had to show their heads, but I knew nothing would dim the love surrounding our partiers. I have loved every visit to Petals, Georgia and I really love these little snapshots into the lives of some of my favorite characters from so many books. I hope that we either get an entire book in which Nathan and Lily’s wedding is spotlighted or another visit, but a bit longer one to cover it all. Girls’ Night Out is a quick look at a night of fun and games with Lily, Nathan and their family and friends. If you love Murphys and the Chases, you can’t miss this second look at what is going on.

What exactly was this story about? Just a bachelor/bachelorette party? Well, whatever it was, I considered it to be a piece of crap. Thank god it was a short story, because I had a hard time just getting through this. I think I would have just skipped it, if it would have been longer. Seriously though, how many characters were there? OMG! That was the worst thing; all the characters who the author just mentions, one after another. No one was really described or anything. There's like all these brothers and sisters and I have no clue who's who?! This was just too much!
Okay, I just skimmed through some of the other reviews. Now I understand a little more. I've never read anything from this author, so this was a first. Needless to say, there was probably no point in even writing this story. Or maybe just done it a different way. Either way, I have no interest in looking further into this author/series.
The first books of Lauren Dane's that I read were the Chase Brothers. I must admit that I have a certain fondness for the four of them and their stories and have re-read them more than once. (I have the print and digital of all four). That being said, I really enjoy when authors take the time to embellish their original works by adding novellas or short stories later to enhance the readers appreciation of the characters, town and what has happened in their life. This was a really quick, ten minute read but it was also fun to celebrate bachelor/bachelorette parties and find out about familiar faces. This is not a stand-alone and should not be read or treated that way.
This is a really fun, quick read from Lauran Dane. If you have not read any of the Petal, Georgia or Chase series I would not pick this story up, even though it’s free, because it’s a quick snapshot into the lives of the characters from both of those series. As a fan of Ms. Dane I’ve read and enjoyed all of these stories so these ‘after the HEA’ that she offers are fun for me. I love seeing what’s going on in the lives of these wonderful characters and getting a chance to see movement in their story lives. If you can, go back and read the stories in both of these series and then circle back around and pick up Girls Night Out. It’s worth it.
This is a short Chase brothers addition. I feel that this one is mostly meant for the uber fans of the Petal books that enjoy getting more back story and on going updates into the lives of characters in her books. Some people will enjoy it some won't but myself personally, I enjoyed getting to revisit them again.
This was actually more like 2.5★. Although I love catching up with some of my favorite characters from a series I enjoyed, this little snapshot into their lives did nothing for me, really. It was too fast and too short. I had forgotten a lot of small details about the series but a lot of them were thrown, rapid fire, into this story. I still love the series and the characters and can't wait to read Anne's story.
OK first off, I really thought since I've read a couple of the books from the Petal series that I'd be OK reading this, but apparently I have to have read them all, because there were LOTS of couples I was unfamiliar with. Second, nothing really happened, and third, I had a hard time following whose point of view a particular scene was from. Maybe if I read a few more from the series, I can come back and re-read this one and maybe alter my rating.
Short story which is confusing unless you've read the others. I couldn't keep up with all the characters who seemed to be thrown all together, little separation in introduction. The backstory of some of the characters however is intriguing as, the snippets given, seem to indicate something which is commonly found and not fairytale like.
Will have to read the others and see if I can make any sense of it then.
I love that this author has these free shorts that give us these little glimpses into the lives of characters we have come to love. This one was so much fun, it had so many of the characters all getting ready to go out to boy/girl parties. I loved how each couple kept trying not go out and stay in to have fun. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
This is a very short few chapters that Lauren Dane wrote for her readers to just give us another look at some of our favorite characters. I loved the Chase brothers so it was nice to see a little more of them. Totally enjoyable and makes me wish she would write another brother in the series just so we could read a little more :)
If you follow Dane's Petal series you will probably love this latest offering. If not, you'll likely be confused and let down. That being said, Lauren Dane was very straightforward with the fact that this would be a tiny offering AND it's free so no complaining. A great incentive to give the folks in Petal a try.
Definitely something not to be read as a standalone. It's been a few years since I read this series, so I expected to forget a few things, but surprising it all came back rather easily. There were a few characters in this short story who were a mystery, but with a quick search I discovered I had missed reading "Lost in You - Petal, Ga #2" which gives those characters backstory.
As a treat to fans, Lauren Dane gives readers another freebie that brings us back to Petal, Georgia. This time, we see the fun and flirty side of the ladies.
A short read, more like an epilogue, or an inbetween novella letting us know how life is going for all the old pairings. Should have read #1 first, all the names had me confused. A sweet read (#SFW) and I´ll read more from the series.
Is there such a thing as too many characters well that's debatable. However when you introduce them all at once there can be. The story line was good but other than that I kept getting lost in the characters and couldn't figure out what was going on.
