The plot and the story holds some potential but this book really needs editing. The writing, the grammar and the use of tenses is bad. The beginning is a bit confusing with all the walks down the memory lane and all the new characters but I guess that’s always the issue with new books. We were thrown right into her attempts to get rid of her virginity.
The writing was average and it seemed like teenager was writing it without real insight into sadism. Jumping from first person to third person in the same sentence is plain confusing. This should not mix, if started with one type you should stick to this.
There was also too many repeating and using of her and his name. (She did that and then Helen went downstairs…) How many people are we talking about?
The characters seemed immature and plain crazy. He is not a sadist, he has a mental disorder and doesn’t know a thing about BDSM. This was not sane, nor safe or consensual. He was blackmailing her to get his way and promising her again and again he will never do that again. Lines like: “If you really love me you would do that, and trust me I’m a doctor” came out childish and just cliché. He was just abusive and they were using sex for the proof of love and instead of talking or solving things. They are all unbalanced, possessive and obsessed with each other.

I have finished reading this book, and I can say that I really liked it.
It’s a very nice read (and HOT!) the characters can get you into the story from the beginning.
Helen is a girl who knows what she wants, but she’s so prone to fall with any man. She needs love, and this could be her salvation or her sentence. Weakness and resolution: only one will win! You have to read the entire book to know this.
Alan… wow, he’s necessary, that is all I can say about him.
Phil is such an unpredictable character. I love him. Phil pretends to be a lot of things, and he hide some secrets. But don’t we all of us hide something? I don’t blame him.
Both sides of his nature could be everything... or nothing; heaven or hell.
I don’t know much about the kinky style, but I like these parts in this book: hot and intense – and between lines, makes me want to be a submissive for a while with a master like Phil ;)
I like this read because don’t waste my time whit long explanations and overwritten. It goes to the point,and this is how I love books. I think reading is a way to disconnect from the world for a while, and ‘The cruel twists of love’ can do it with the readers :D

What an erotic wild ride its one of those books no matter if its dark or light you just cant put it down. Where you think they will end up is not the case in this great read. If you want a sexy ride on that wild side then this is the book for you. Adult content in this book for sure. Loved it Happy Reading

Another great book! Ms. Parry never disappoints me when it comes to her writing. it is hard to read her books, because I don't want to finish them! That being said, I was asked to read this book for an honest review, and also being some extra eyes :) Since this book was one of her first "full length" novel of course i said "heck yea" so, i had to grab my bucket of ice and dive right in!
Helen was 19 years old. She was a virgin, and that had to change.. She was hanging out with her friends at bars, trying to find the next victim who was going to take this problem away from her, and then she can move on with her life. There was only one problem with this.. The guys that took her one for this one night stand didn't know about her problem. So, when it came to the fact that they were going to do the nasty, the guys ran away because they said they couldn't do it. It was not suppose to be given away by a stranger. This made Helen mad.
Well going against what her friends think, she started hanging out with a guy named Alan. He was a brother to her friend's boyfriend. He was bad news. he was a bad boy, and by that i mean criminal. anyway as you can probably guess that Helen would pick him to be the next victim. If that is what you are guessing you are not quite right. I told you Alan wasn't a nice guy. he slipped a roofie into Helen's drink. She then woke up in a strange room not knowing what was going on. She heard Alan talking on the phone and got scared. Alan threatened to rape her if she didn't tell him about her sexual adventures. Well, Helen was afraid to tell him that she didn't have any. Well when push comes to shove Alan was excited to find out that she never been with anyone. He took that from her.
After all that Alan had done to her I can't believe that she stayed! I mean COME ON!!! Helen was in love. so here starts the sexual vixen Helen will know to love and also hate. Alan could do no wrong because in her eyes he was the perfect man for her. Helen knew that Alan was cheating on her. It took a horrible incident to find out for herself.
Helen went to a night club and her so called friend pushed her to be with a strange man so she could sleep around. Helen said no because she loved Alan. This guy beat the shit out of Helen. To the point that she was just lying on the floor. A nice man picked her up and took to her to the hospital. She found out that this attractive nice man was a doctor. He introduced himself as Alex. He called Alan to tell him of the news and he was the one that had to give Helen the bad news about him being with another woman.
Helen confronted Alan, and he told her that he wants to go back to his baby's mom, and also still be with her. Helen couldn't be number 2 in anyone's life so she was done.
Alex was their to pick up the pieces for Helen. Let me tell you i was super excited when i saw Alex stepping up and trying to be with Helen. Helen played a good game of come catch me you sexy man. Alex will try to make Helen his next submissive. ( I would have gladly raised my hand if he didn't have any takers :D) this book has a lot of steamy hot sexy, and also a little kink. Helen will find out about her sexual side that she will love and hate. A lot of this book you have to read and figure out the rest by yourself, because explaining it will just ruin the fun of the whole story. it was very enjoyable.
like the rest of these books there was a great story line, a little dark, but everyone needs that in their lives. If you say you don't then you are lying, and need to re-think about what you do behind closed doors lol.

The Cruel Twists of Love by Kathryn Parry asks a very simple question. What happens when a couple takes their love of S/M too far? The answer is certainly not for the squeamish. This book is intense. Very intense. It has the usually steamy scenes you've come to expect from an erotica novel (in fact, some of the scenes are especially kinky). But there are parts of this book that is very tough to read and would offend even some non-prude types.
I found the exploration of the MC Helen going from a complete innocent to being molded into a sex toy by her abusive boyfriends to be a compelling, but sometimes frustrating experience. I couldn't help but wonder why she would allow herself to be used (and abused) the way she was. But it all made sense (from a certain-point-of-view) when the story begins to reveal some of its secrets.
This book was one of the author's earlier works. So it's a little rough around the edges, but I hear the author's getting it re-edited, so with a brand new spit shine, I would definitely recommend this book to fans of erotic books centered around bondage and S/M themes.
