Following the success of The leatherboy Handbook, Andrews’ new book, The Complete leatherboy Handbook provides information and insight about the Leather/BDSM lifestyle for newcomers and veterans alike. In addition to an in-depth discussion of “Daddies” and “leatherboys” and the unique dynamic that exists between them, this book is essential to those who do or wish to define as a “leatherboy.” A must-have for any new person coming into leather.
While some of the views were a bit antiquated and there were a few too many general sweeping statements for my liking, it still gave a good glimpse into what the leather community used to look like and how much of it still remains in today's version of it.
Being a novice to the Leather Culture I cannot really contest this book seeing as that would require experience and knowledge that I do not currently have. Within the first few pages of the book I immediately felt welcomed and encouraged. Two things which I desperately needed to hear, they made me tear up a bit.
The only point that made me falter is likely the result of the age of this book, having been published in 2012. There was some description of Leathermen and leatherboys finding femininity unwelcome and unacceptable, even unattractive. This was probably meant in a historical sense but it did make me pause. Other than that this book is an amazing source of information that I will be reccomending to anyone who is interested in learning about the Leather Culture.
