Otherworld #2

Dolmarehn

Rate this book
Magical realms, Celtic warriors, and faerie glamour: Percy Jackson meets The Mortal Instruments.

“Do you trust me Meghan?”

His voice was soft, almost pleading. I swallowed and tried hard to discern his expression in the dark. The paltry amount of light reaching this far into the small cavern glinted off his eyes, giving him the appearance of a demon trying to tempt me into doing something evil.

“Yes,” I answered, my own voice a mere whisper, “I trust you.”

“Good.”

He gave my hand a quick squeeze, and then I was pulled forward into the icy abyss that loomed before us . . .

A year ago, Meghan Elam learned that she was Faelorehn, a being of the Otherworld. Immortal. Now she must juggle her life in the mortal world with the one she has started to build in the Otherworld. However, keeping her identity secret from her friends and family while trying to avoid a wrathful Celtic goddess is no easy task.

With the help of the intriguing Cade MacRoich, Meghan will learn that not only does she come from a place full of magic and wonder but that she, too, is far more powerful than she ever thought possible.

This second book pulled at the heartstrings a lot. I read it in a single day. Literally could not put it down (and admittedly the only reason I put the first one down at all was because my kindle died). It had the same great pacing, but with a little extra danger added in. I liked being able to get to know Cade's character a little more. I find first person very immersing, but also limiting because you only truly know that one person. Like most men, he doesn't open up too much. I'm hoping he will in the third book. She visits the otherworld several times, but never for long. She truly feels like it's home, but doesn't know much of it at all. In the end, she does find the courage to stand up for herself. She's not the strong female lead type, but she is still only 18 and this was a lot to be thrown into. There was more drama in this one, but it was believable, and we've all been there, too.

I'm really looking forward to the third book, and hoping to find out more about the otherworld, Cade and to see Meghan grow up into a stronger woman.

This book is way better than the first one. The pace of it is much faster, once you pass the few first chapters, and I think it can stand alone cause the author gives a good background about the previous book.

The plot is very engaging and there are a bunch of interesting characters introduced. Finally, we are introduced to the otherworld and Cade's life and funny side, which is AMAZING, and most of the mystery revealed. Also, there are a lot of good scenes, my Favorite is the disappearing one;).
I like the way Megan's character grows by the end of the book and that she finally accepts herself. Sometimes I got annoyed with her reactions, but I think that means that she is a good character, real character, cause no one is perfect.

I just like this book and can't wait to see where this series is going.

Oh my!! I’m Really happy with this book!! I couldn’t wait to start reading it. It’s not a keep you fast pace action book but a easy relax read action book and I LOVE that!! What I really would love is to actually be able to go to the other world! As beautiful as the author makes it sound it’s VERY hard not to want to go! To sleep with rocks surrounding you so the cold can’t touch you would be a great experience for me anyway. As far as Cade he is such a good guy! If I was Meghan I would have stuck with him no matter what he turned into as well no matter who his parents are! As for Meghan mom the queen im not to sure I would have stuck around as long as she did. I would not have been able to not respond to some of the things and way she treated her! Can’t wait to see if she finally comes around or not in the 3rd book! Can’t wait to see if she beats Cade’s mom and her hell hounds too! Have a feeling it’s going to be another great book I end up reading to fast and have to say good bye to after. Definitely will read this series more then once and have my kids read it too!!

Even better than the first!
WOW! Meghan finds out who her mother is. For the sake of spoilers, I won’t say who, but it was interesting what she had been put through to not only meet her mom, but finally unleashes her power. How can one not love the Dagda? I could feel his kindness and strong hugs through Meghan’s experience. Meghan learned that prejudices are the same everywhere. She and Cade are considered outcasts due to the circumstances of their parentage. This was a fantastic read. I wouldn’t stop thinking about it until the book was finished. The book is written in a way that the reader almost wants to share the emotions of the protagonist. I’m excited when she is excited. I felt her loss and sorrow. I love Meridian, she is quite a precious Merlin. On to the next book!

I loved the second book in this series. It was a little faster paced than the first one, and came together very nicely. Meghan finally know what her heritage is, and has come into her power. And she finally knows where she stands with Cade!! I seriously can't wait to finish this series, but I am most definitely going to be upset when its over.

This one was SO much better than the first. I was captivated from the beginning. It took so much effort to stop reading last night so I could go to sleep. The twists and turns coupled with the Celtic folklore make this a very interesting read. I can't wait to read book 3. I would definitely recommend this series to others.

Despite the slow beginning this book picked up well in the end. In the last half I couldn’t put it down it was full of nonstop action! I loved learning more about Cade and I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here!

I’ve been sitting here starting at the computer screen for the last 30 minutes trying to figure out how to review this book. I loved it; I like it, and in parts, it drove me absolutely crazy. I’m just so torn.

What I loved: Cade! *Sigh* He is sweet, mysterious and has an edge of danger. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that he is a complete hottie. Add in some magic and you’ve got yourself the perfect love interest for the lead, Meghan. His character really grew from the first book, and I cannot wait to see what happens with him in next one.

There was a lot more action in this part of the series, and it kept the story moving along at a nice pace. The descriptions that went along with the action were awesome, and I could see everything as if I was standing right there with the characters.

What I liked: The Dagda brought a few smiles to my face, and I’m sure he will become one of my favorite characters as the series goes on. He has a wonderful charisma to him, and he really livened up the story when things got too serious.

I also liked the sparks of romance between Cade and Meghan. The only thing that kept this from the Love list was Meghan’s constant internalizing about waiting for the “right time." She’s a teenager, but yet, there was no impulsive teenager behavior. Nevertheless, I giggled a few times and smiled and could completely picture what Cade’s kiss would be like. :)

What drove me crazy: There were three things that really had me gritting my teeth. The first and most frustrating was all the inconsistencies in the story. I found myself having to go back and reread full chapters trying to figure out what I had missed only to find that I didn’t miss anything. What I thought was missing just hadn’t been written. For example, in one scene the characters woke up a dawn, traveled two hours, and when they arrived at their destination two hours later it was sunset. What happened to the rest of the day?

The next was the chapter titles. There was one chapter near the end in particular that I actually had tears in my eyes until I flipped the page and the title gave away exactly what was going to happen next. It took away the suspense, and I found myself skimming the pages instead of absorbing to story.

The last thing was Meghan’s character. She grew a bit from the first book, but I still really couldn’t connect with her. She thought so much but never really acted on the thoughts until it was too late. For a teenage girl, this seems unrealistic. However, at the very end she came out of her shell and showed promise for the next book.

My overall thoughts: Even with the draw backs, I still enjoyed the story. I can see the potential, and the second book was definitely better than the first. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and cannot wait to see what happens.

This is the second installment in the Otherworld series by Jenna Elizabeth Johnson. I had forgotten how much I get caught up in this series! I just love these characters! When I sat down with this book.....IT ALL CAME BACK TO ME. I was hooked once again and was regretful every time I had to put this book down.

This book picks up where we left Meghan after Faelorehn. She has been healing and recouping over the summer after her run in with the Morrigan. While Meghan has been healing she has been a bit reclusive and Cade has been MIA, which has caused her to become a little obsessive over him. But hey lets face it I would obsess over him too!

Meghan gains more exposure to the Fae part of her origin thanks to Cade when he finally makes an appearance. He gifts her with a Merlin for her birthday so that she has her own spirit guide and he can then take Fergus with him back to Elie. She learns to care for the little bird and the bird becomes her protector. Meghan goes to Eile on three occasions over the course of the novel and Meghan begins to learn more about herself, her magic and her origins. She also learns a little bit more about the mysterious Cade. I admit I fell in love with Cade. I didn't think I could like him any more than I already did after Faelorehn, but what do you know I was wrong.

In terms of pacing, while the last book worked to set things up this novel has a lot more action and a lot more going on. We learn a lot more about the characters and their world of Eile. The bulk of the action takes place in the Otherworld while the mortal world is relatively calm. Don't mistake me, I don't consider Meghans encounters with the fae creatures in the mortal world to be calm by any means, but the amount of action between the Otherworld and the mortal world are very different. Well I'm not giving out the details because I want to leave that to the reader to discover, but the ending left me anxious and waiting impatiently for the last installment in the series. I can't wait to join these characters again and to see just where things are going to go.

With the help of one absurdly handsome, faelah bounty hunter, Cade Mcroich, Meghan reluctantly embraces her heritage as a Faelorehn, an immortal, of the grievous Otherworld. As she travels by the Dolmarehn near her earthly home, Meghan faces horror and wonder in the somewhat familiar and magical realm.
To the Morrigan, goddess of war and strife, Meghan is enemy number one. She has many reasons for wanting Meghan destroyed; the most prominent is the desire to harness the vast, untapped power of her magic. Meghan, on the other hand, has more reasons to live than ever before.
Meghan's new friends amorously help her find her way as chaos, terror, and disappointment rains down upon her fragile state. And through the series of Malevolent storms, the self-sacrificing, Cade McCROICH is her always present calm. Though she is not as cautious to hold Cade at arm's length, confessing her love is a vulnerability she may not yet be ready to reveal. While fighting for their lives, the shocking revelation of Cade's own secrets are discovered to harness far more sinister components.

As Dolmarehn introduced lovable characters, such as the boisterous Dagda with his magical Cauldron, I could have developed a mental whiplash from zipping through the book so swiftly. I fell in love with the gods and loved to despise the Morrigan. A witty enemy with unique, strategic plots guarantees a must-read adventure. The intensity between Cade and Meghan was filled with such a desperate longing I found myself filled with agonizing desire. In Dolmarehn, secrets are revealed, there are broken and ornate castles partial to the imagery. unique magic, beautiful landscapes, moments of fun, shattered dreams, and unrequited love. With the second book of the trilogy becoming so much a part of me, the wait for Luathara felt unbearable.

Other than a few grammatical errors, the charming sequel to Faelorehn is as promised, even better than the first Otherworld novel, Faelorehn.

Alas! I’ve waited long enough to read Dolmarehn and lemme tell ya, it did not disappoint!

First and foremost, I absolutely love Dolmarehn better than I did Faelorehn. As compared to the first book, Dolmarehn has so much more packed for us readers. There are a lot of new characters introduced and we would finally visit and see Eile like never before. Miss Johnson created a very vivid magical world you’d wish you’ve been to (yep, even with all the vile creatures roaming around, ready to eat-slash-kill you).
There’s also a lot of Celtic mythology involved that would pique reader’s interest and I just love reading and knowing about those stuff. Dolmarehn is also a time of discovery for Meghan. She’d finally know her biological parents and unlock her powers and the secrets behind her origin. Not only that, we would also learn more about Cade – the secrets he keep and who/what he really is. (And is it possible I love Cade even more after reading Dolmarehn? *squeals!*) Also, there will be more of Meghan and Cade moments here. You’d see how much they really like each other no matter how hard they refuse to admit it and that leads to ‘aawww’ sweet moments.
Dolmarehn is all parts romance, adventure, fun and excitement that would keep you on the edge of your seat. It would definitely keep you asking for more..
You just have to read this book to see for yourself! It’s [a million times] worth it..

P.S.: There’s a third book! It’s called Luathara *squeals yet again* I cannot wait!

Cover - 3.5/5
Favorite Line - "Your power is a living thing, just like you and all the parts that make you Faelorehn. Your lungs need oxygen, your stomach craves food. Your heart desires love."
Favorite Character - Cade

This book carried on 5 months after the last ended. It follow's Meghan through struggles with her feeling for Cade & trying to find her powers. You find out about Meghan parentage & more about the otherworld where she is from. You also discover huge secrets about Cade.
The book has loads of interesting characters from Celtic mythology. I enjoyed meeting the new characters in this book, I cannot wait to read more about them in the next book.
The romance is lovely in this book, a slow build up with real feelings. It is very realistic. There is just a few kisses so the book is suitable for all ages.
There is action in this book & i won't spoil it for you but i was on the edge of my seat the end of the book!
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series & seeing how everything turns out :)

I would recommend this book & I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Meghan has broken her geis, now she is unprotected. She broke it when she went to Elie because she wanted to save Cade, in the end he was the one who saved her. It has been months since she seen Cade. She has fully recovered from her injuries but not the emotionally scars. She is scared to go out in fear of the creatures that loomed in the dark.

Ms. Johnson has done it again, writing an amazing sequel in The Otherworld Trilogy. I could not put this one down. I had to continue to the end, and I was not disappointed. In this sequel we get to find out who were Meghan's biological parents, as well as Cade's history. Meghan gets to explore Elie, see and experience new things. The relationship between Cade and Meghan does get intense. At times, I screamed at my kindle "tell him, just open your mouth and speak" or "he is in love can't you see" or "aww that is so cute".

Dolmarehn was fabulous from the beginning to the end. Quickly paced, well written, action filled, and a touch of romance, and magic. Definitely, eager to read the last installment.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A great sequel, with the ever present sexual tension looming over Meghan and Cade as they try to figure out their relationship.

The book continues off where the last one left it and doesn't waste our time filling every space of time but simply states things like "it's been six months since" or "the week went quickly" if a relatively large amount of time has passed.

Meghan faces the dilemma of hiding her secrets from her family and friends while trying to protect them and herself from the faelon sent to traumatize (or more likely kill!!) her by her enemy. Also she is constantly longing after Cade, who is often away and their only correspondence is through letters stuck in the old oak tree and the times he can meet up with her for a couple of minutes.

I liked that since the start of the first book till the end of this book, two whole years have passed. I love that the romance came along slowly. It was clear they were attracted to each other but both fearful of rejection or ruining there friendship.

I loved the plot twists and mystery that surrounded Cade and the way that Meghan handled them.

An enjoyable read with a lovable, adorable couple!!

This is the second time I couldn't wait to read a book, and couldn't put the book down, but then I get upset that it's over, and now I know I will have to wait again until I can catch up with Meghan and Cade.

I read a lot of the YA books because my students read them, and I like to have some idea of the stories that are catching their interests. This is a series that I will mention to the students. The Celtic lore, and the fantasy aspects of the story make the books enjoyable and intriguing.

Ms. Johnson delivers another spellbinding story with just enough action and romance to keep every reader interested. I am looking forward to the next installment and more of Eile. Just not looking forward to the wait.

I liked this book much more than I liked the first one in the trilogy. The characters matured and I felt like the story line wasn't as sluggish. That being said, had I not read the first book I don't know that I would have enjoyed this book as much. I really liked that the Otherworld was better explained in detail so you could get a better picture of it. I'm interested in seeing how the main character's relationships develop and look forward to the next book in the trilogy.

On a side note....I am hoping there will be a third book. I was having a horrible time trying to find any information out about it on the internet. If anyone knows that answer I would really appreciate it.

I really enjoyed Dolmarehn it was definitely better the the first in the series.

It keeps you on the edge of ur seat and there is always something exciting just waiting to happen.

I loved it when cade thought he was going to die and admitted he loves Meghan, took him long enough to admit how he feels for her.
I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when cade recovers and what happens between them both.

I liked it how the dagda really likes Meghan and reckon they will get on really well.

Im giving this 5 stars because its a really good book and now im looking forward to the third one.

I'm absolutely loving this series! Meghan has just discovered that she's immortal and has a Goddess after her. What Meghan doesn't know is who are her parents and precisely why a powerful Goddess wants her killed. Those questions are answered in this book. I love that this book shows a stronger, more confident side to Meghan. There is clearly character growth which I enjoyed seeing. I felt like I could relate more to Meghan in this book. I also liked how realistic the emotions between Cade and Meghan were.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more. This book has cemented my love for this series. I'm hooked for life!

I really enjoyed this second installment of the Otherworld Trilogy. It took me a chapter or two to remember how the first one ended, but the story was great to ease back into. It is a quick smooth read.

This one gets a bit more into Meghan's mind and Cade's past. The reader finally gets to see more of the Otherworld. The descriptions are wonderful and the imagery allowed me to truly envision Cade's home world. The characters and action in this story definitely drew me in, and I couldn't put the book down!

Much better than the first one. Way more action. I kind of like that a really long expanse of time has taken place- 2years from beginning of book 1 through the 2nd book- that is different from most of the series I've read. This novel just felt like the author had Come into her own more. And no melodrama filled high school dance scene. Yay! And still totally innocent and sweet. Completely tween friendly.

The first book, Faelorhn, set this book up perfectly. Meghan and Cade step up their relationship, with all the romance and heartache expected from star crossed lovers. The adventure gets more intense, with several trips into Eile, the awakening of Meghan's power, and a heart wrenching climax. I can't wait for the third book!

The second book was almost better then the first. Very well written with great detail to the characters as well as their environment. Ok, this book definitely got better. I am glad Meghan saved Cade, glad her powers blossomed, gladd she beat the morrigan and I am glad she told her parents who she and what she really was. Cannot wait for the final book to come out. Does anyone have a clue?

I found this series by chance and glad I read. Been a while since I red a book in 3 days.
