Sacked by the Quarterback

Rate this book
A simple birthday party with the girls on my best friend’s brother’s private island turned into a Hail Mary play for our lives.

All I wanted was to escape and go home. I wasn’t looking for trouble.

He was just what I didn’t need…the proverbial tall, dark, and handsome stranger.

The last time I’d seen him, I was 18 and he blew me off. Now he looked older with his salt and pepper hair. But with his toned and tanned body, he was sexy as heck!

Yet… he is my best friend’s brother, way older than me, and a rich and famous football star.

Life is made of memories and boy did he give me one.

As I’m trapped by a rogue storm on the island, I’m coming to terms with his Playboy reputation.

I don’t know if I can trust him but he may be the only person on this island who can protect me…

This was an okay story. I felt that the main character was annoying and whiny.

It's Ashley’s best friend, Brooke's birthday long weekend on a private island owned by her older brother, Grant. He is a billionaire football player who is much older than both girls but, Ashley’s eyes couldn't help gazing at his perfectly honed body when she joined them four years ago, at eighteen and she sat on his lap when she drank too much. Where he quickly deposited her to the floor with a thump. Embarrassment still burns her cheeks. So, knowing everyone else is running behind has her on edge. As she walks the dock toward the main house she sees him. Yup, still there lust and embarrassment.

He is very laid-back and walks her to her cabana, telling her that, Brooke had told him about her ex, and that he wants her to feel safe, and relaxed for the weekend. Once she’s settled she goes in search of, Grant, and she is happy to see more have arrived. They have a chef, a woman who oversees and runs the house, a handyman, and a boat captain. Sparks fly quickly between, Ashley and, Grant and it's him making the moves.

Coming off a more than horrible relationship, and remembering how humiliated she felt the last time she was around, Grant makes her unsure. Not to mention she knows how worried, Brooke is about her friends hooking up with her brother, and that includes the gold-digging aspect of it all. Plus, her big brother had been hurt recently and she was extra protective.

What I didn't like was the way that he played her the next morning, after their night together. That was BS. He rebutted three times and the final dinner with the whole gang when he came back from the supposed business, more like funny business, Ashley believed and gave him the same treatment it didn't sit as comfortable. Touché I say to her. But, when danger and betrayal hit the Island of, Orchid Bay it's a defining moment for, Grant. He knows what he wants going forward in his life, and that means one of the two women might be upset.

Taking A Chance At Happiness Again -
Ashley was apprehensive when her best friend invited her on a vacation to her older brother’s island, as she was still recovering from the hell that her ex-boyfriend put her through. However, her previous on Grant from when she was a teenager, returned the moment she laid eyes on him. Grant had sworn off relationships and only partook in flings following his ex-girlfriend’d betrayal, but he felt an inexplicable connection with Ashley from the moment he laid eyes on her.

Even though they both tried to maintain a platonic relationship, they just couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Unfortunately, Grants insecurities made him take a step back, but he realised he couldn’t live without Ashley, after he rescued her from danger. Holy smokes! This book is the whole package, with everything you would expect in a fantastic romance book, but elevated to a more enthralling level with a bit of drama. This is a definite must read book.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ashley travels to Orchid Bay to celebrate her friend, Brooke's birthday. Brooke's brother, Grant meets her at the pier. Ashley had a crush on him when she was younger. Loved the description of the sights. Great story of starting over and getting over past bad relationships. There is even a little danger.
