Her fascination with stories started as a mere toddler when her mother read to her, and she began making up her own when she could barely read or write. She was just six when her article first got published in a leading children’s newspaper in India. Since then, she has dreamed of writing a book, and Unclutter is her debut novel. Other than reading and writing, Winnie’s interests include travel, wildlife, and global cuisines. She currently lives in Canada with her husband and her daughter.

Sitting down to write this review is daunting to say the least. Unclutter: A Survivor’s Story is a novel that made me feel so many different emotions. I found myself heartbroken and hopeful at the same time, and in the end, this book simply left me speechless.
Unclutter follows the story of Tina Lauren, a survivor of sexual abuse. Her deep trauma has impacted her life immeasurably, and she struggles with self-harm, among many other things. At the beginning of the novel, Tina is attacked by the wealthy and powerful Nicholas Parker, and the act of her defending herself leads her into a horrific situation where she is betrayed, shamed, and bullied.
There is no way for me to simply summarize everything that Tina endures and what her journey looks like. Every time I thought Tina had gone through enough, something utterly horrifying occurred. You really have to read this novel and experience her journey as you read.
The blurb states that this novel has “shocking turns,” and I would have to agree with this. There were many moments in the book that surprised me, often in a devastating way. This book was difficult to read, as the subject matter is so heavy and Tina truly endures so much. Truthfully, at times I had to put the book down because reading it broke my heart.
Without spoiling anything, there is a romance element of the story introduced later on, and I have to say that I absolutely loved that addition. Despite the heaviness of the subject matter, certain scenes managed to make me smile through the darkness. The romance made this book somehow even better.
There are a significant number of characters in this book, and they are all developed very well. I feel like I really knew all of them. Additionally, the cast of characters is very diverse and it is amazing to see thoughtful representation of different cultures.
I could truly keep talking about my thoughts on this book forever, as I truly believe it will stick with me for a long time. If you are interested in books that deal with heavy subject matter, I would highly recommend Unclutter.

I won this e-book in a Goodreads Giveaway. First thing I have PTSD from an abusive relationship, this is the first book out of hundreds that almost triggered me. So trigger warning to those that want to read this book. This book is an honest fictional writing about sexual abuse and any abuse in general. From the way family ignores the abuse, how you feel about yourself and how you dress. The self loathing and the taboo of seeking a therapist to talk too. Also the therapists questions are exactly the type of questions mine asked me. Tina Lauren is a teenage girl whose life is hell from child sexual abuse. She's afraid to show any skin, she's afraid to be touched. Her peers bully her and make fun of her. People she thought she could trust betray her. Then as she begins her adult life another narcissistic abuser trys to take advantage of her and destroy her again. From social media attacks to physical attacks and everything in between. But with her therapists help and her true friends they support her and strengthen her to stand up to her abuser. This is a survivors story. One everyone needs to read, must read. The only thing I didn't like was how it ended. Too many characters that I wanted to know answers too. Like what was Ekon's background story. What happened too the new abuser in Tina's life, what was his trial like, did it even go to trial, if it did was he convicted or not? The book didn't have complete closure and was left way to open without a more proper ending. But the book is very well written besides that, and keeps true to the feelings of someone abused. The one thing I would like to leave you with is this. Even the strongest of the abused do move on with our lives, but we don't ever get over it completely, we never get over it. It's always there, it's always a memory, and we do not forget. We never forget and it's always a part of us, it makes up a part if who we are always.

A whopping 5 ⭐️s, though I think I could tell from the get go! Enthralling, captivating, and sadly all to true this book is sure to make you THINK about rape, rape culture, bullying, abuse, mental health stigma etc. There were many moments in this book where I felt EMPOWERED, and many that were all to relatable for me as a woman.
I would recommend this to anyone. Just anyone. I’m fact I think this is a book everyone should read, it tackles so many sensitive topics that need to be addressed more often. I would recommend looking at trigger warnings before you read it but this book had the power to have me go from a frown to a smile in a second and vice versa! I will always keep this book in my heart and I hope many other do too!

I would recommend reading this if you have dealt with any of the things talked about in this book, or know someone who has. It might help you understand what they are going through, or help you to remember you are never truly alone in fighting these sorts of things. There is always someone out there who can help.
This is the first thing I have read by this author, and based on this alone, I am quite intrigued by what else they will write. I did have a hard time reading this book, and writing this review, not because of the author, but due to my own past.
This book hit home in a lot of ways for me. I am a recovering self harmer, I’ve dealt with suicidal thoughts, suicidal ideation, CSA, SA, abuse from partners, and abuse from those in power. So, reading about these topics can be touchy for me.
The author does a good job, in my opinion, at handling these very delicate topics. Which is why I continued to read the book.
I do wish that the author would of given us more about what happens with the police reports in the end, and what if anything happens to the major bad guy in the book.
I really enjoyed the romance subplot. I was worried that he was going to be another bad guy and hurt the FMC, but was so happy that they got a bit of a happy for now.
I do wish, that we would of learned what one of the MMC’s background was. Maybe in another book, some of these things will be touched on.
Um, if you have dealt with any of the things in this book, know that you are not alone, and it was never your fault. Please seek out professional help. There is always someone out there, who will listen, and help. You are not alone.

"Nerdection Must Read"
I started reading this book with the thoughts that this would be some kind of depressing book – but it wasn’t. It was a bittersweet book with a great storyline, plot, world-building and dialogue.
Tina was a strong girl who overcame her past traumas gracefully. Her personality was inspiring and her courage should be applauded. The way in which she became the true and best version of herself and carried herself was powerful. Despite all this, Tina still seemed an ordinary human due to her inner voice that we all can relate to – a voice that builds doubts and makes us pessimists.
Rory and Jai were Tina’s friends and honestly, these are the types of friends we all NEED in our life – the ones that make bad times pass like a breeze. They were extremely supportive and saying them minor characters would be wrong because they were also the ones that acted as catalysts in Tina’s story.
Ekon was a cute and sweet cinnamon roll – a great love interest and funny guy for our girl. He was the absolute best in everything and honestly, every Tina deserves an Ekon in her life – the person who understands her doesn’t judge her, cooks delicious meals for her, consoles her, and pampers her. Ekon was a walking green flag and passed all positive vibe checks.
And Ekon’s and Tina’s sweet romance was both heart-warming and heart-melting at the same time. Just read this passage:
“Hey, Ekon,” I said. “Would you call me Tia?”
Ekon gave me a questioning look.
“Only when the two of us are alone.”
Ekon smiled at me mischievously. “Are you suggesting we should spend more time alone together, Tia?”
“Maybe, Eko.”
Ekon looked surprised. “Oh, I have a nickname as well?”
“Why? Do you not like it?” I teased.
“I don’t hate it,” Ekon replied. “Maybe because it’s you.”
We walked in silence, enjoying the only sounds in the quiet winter night—of our feet falling in step and our hearts beating in sync.
Winnie wrote this book in a great tone, with images automatically appearing in readers’ minds when reading any scene from Unclutter. Her way of handling this sensitive topic delicately was beyond exceptional. Her writing wand created a magical spell that can leave readers hooked, captivated and yearning for more!
In short, what I am trying to say is that this book is worth reading and is a great read that will instantly give you a dopamine and serotonin boost and leave you a fan of the writer, book and the main characters!

An immersive, well-thought out contemporary novel that takes things slow.
Unclutter was a really, really pleasant surprise. Novels which deal with topics such as this often rely on stereotypes, or romanticised versions of real life, or are written in a way that makes you think the author does sort of blame the victim of their story. But Unclutter had none of that. It was an honest, refreshing look at many issues faced by people in our world today. As someone who deals with some of these issues, I was pleased to note that their portrayal was realistic while at the same time showing the optimism and ups and downs of being in recovery. Truly, I felt for our main character as she fought to overcome her past, and understood why she acted in certain ways even if I couldn’t completely relate.
Pagora also has a gift for crafting relationships. Relationships of all kinds made up a huge part of this book, and each one felt authentic and nuanced. I loved seeing the friendships, in particular, so much time and detail was devoted to them and, as an aromantic asexual person, it made me feel warm and fuzzy to see that.
This is a bit heavier than your average contemporary, but I definitely recommend it, whether you’re reading to relate or understand. That being said - the plot did begin to lag for me about halfway in, as this is really slow-paced novel. Which is not a bad thing! It contributes quite well to the emotional quality of this story, the inner conflict and challenges faced by our main character. But I would definitely recommend this for people who enjoy longer novels, and who are a bit more patient than the average reader.

Beware: This novel tackles sensitive subjects, such as sexual abuse and self-harm.
Wow. Unclutter: A Survivor's Story is a YA novel and is a raw and compelling must-read. It is a complex tale that explores the difficult subject of abuse. Winnie has cleverly woven multi layered threads together giving us a compelling read. She boldly tackles hard and traumatic themes and does so with dignity.
This is a story of betrayal in one of its harshest forms. It is a story of survival but what is the cost to get there. It is a story of one young woman who must look at herself and learn to love herself once again.
Tina is vulnerable and broken, in pain and has lost a part of herself but she is strong and resilient even if she doesn’t feel like it at the start. This feisty young woman is a SURVIVOR! With help she fights back and slowly reclaims herself even if it is a new self.
This is a powerful YA novel, and I recommend that women of any age read it. It shows just how unfair the legal system, the world, harsh truths and perceptions women face in the event of abuse and their attackers. This is a wonderful depiction of a woman’s struggle, her strength, determination, moments of reflection, doubt and reassurance… it’s a beautiful story of friendships, loyalty, love… reiterating strength in unity, trust and faith.. the protagonist is a tender, delicate woman who discovers her immense inner strength. The writer has used the right amount of hard hitting reality with humour and mix of emotions that stay with you throughout the book and after. I have thoroughly loved reading the book and could not put it down once I picked it up. Highly recommend it to young adults, parents and anyone else who wants to get a true glimpse into the life of a survivor. With such a brilliant start the author has set up a benchmark which I am confident she will continue to raise with her upcoming books.. let the inspiration flow!! Wishing her the best!!

For teenage and YA readers and up. A fictional story that may break your heart, but brings hope too. Winnie Pagora has spent so much time and effort in preparing this book for the reader. The topics covered are not easy ones to present, but here they are presented to the reader with such a tender sensitive hand. Enough detail, without sensationalism. Pain and trauma, along with love and positive relationships, and the chance to find help if not ever forget. If you are a parent or teacher this book would allow the start of needed conversation and discussion about so many issues that unfortunately our world presents to too many young people. I was provided a copy of this novel through voracious readers in lieu of an honest review. The content was a bit rough to read at times, but only because of the topics presented. It’s heartbreaking to think millions of people have endured such physical and emotional abuse as the characters in this book. This novel shows how difficult it can be to be a survivor of sexual abuse, especially when others blame the victim. I particularly liked the inclusive language of this book; it showed that although sexual abuse disproportionally affects women, men and non-binary individuals can also be targets. Although I felt sorry for all Tina had to go through, it was eye opening watching her move slowly through uncluttering her past and emerging as a survivor rather than a victim.

I was nervous to read and unpack this story due to past experiences of my own.. however, I found the journey beautifully healing. Tina is a complex soul just trying to survive the world that broke her. The experiences are raw and emotional, and all too real. The author did not hold back and while some may find that triggering, I appreciate it. Tina’s healing journey was emotional and heart wrenching, but everything I needed to experience with her. There were a lot of loose ends in the story, but I know that leaves rooms for other characters to develop and the story to continue which I am SO here for!

While I don’t get triggered by much, I have had a past that aligns closely with this read, and this book helped unpacked some pent up emotions for sure. The story of this young, teenager girl in this book followed down a path that I know personally, and a path that way too many people have to follow. This is a strong, well-written book that sincerely sheds just a glimmer of light on way to common situations, from sexual abuse to therapy afterwards and even getting a life back on track after multiple ‘failures’. Read this book with caution and with an open mind, someone you know and love may have these paths that they fight and you have no idea about it (another too common issue).

I'm a survivor of abuse, and Unclutter is one of the best books I've read with that subject. I devoured the book and enjoyed every second of it. The cast is diverse, the characters are loveable (even when they are being a bit thick headed) and I really do love the happy ending. It's an amazing story that I will cherish forever.

I was honored to have won this book in a contest, and I was not disappointed in it. It was hard to put down. I highly recommend reading this book.

The shocking turns were definitely shocking. My gosh this book had me feeling so many different emotions! Sadness, anger, hopeful…all of it. The topics in this book are rather dark and heavy. Tina has gone through quite a bit of stuff in her life and I feel for her so much! As much as this book made me sad and upset, I did enjoy it. Definitely kept my attention.

Please check the warnings. Your mental well being is important. This story hit so hard for me. Tina is doing what she can the best way she knows how. While dealing with trauma and other situations. I cried and I just felt this. This story will sit with me for sure.

This impactful debut novel is aimed at teenagers but can be read by older readers as well. It focuses on the abuse, gaslighting and manipulation girls and women can experience. It brings pain, sadness, but also hope. I would highly recommend reading this book when you are in the right headspace.

Uncluttered: A Survivor’s Story, by Winnie D. Pagora, is an inspirational story about a young woman who overcomes her sexual trauma and goes on to help others going through a similar pain. The book introduces Tina Lauren, a student who had her life nearly stripped away after defending herself against Nicholas Parker, a boy with powerful connections. After being abandoned by friends and ostracized by her community, she meets Dr. Nakamura and a few others, with whom she begins to rebuild herself, slowly and steadily.
Tina’s story reads almost like a fairytale. Although it was painful to read (I find it quite laughable that her former friends were now trying to get her to speak on the importance of consent), I appreciated how many genuine social supports flocked around Tina. I loved the relationship Tina had with Jai and Nate and Madison. I liked how supportive Ekon was in helping her with her mental health, even though he might not understand all of her experiences. Moreover, I loved how her parents became more supportive of her as well (go Dad for the win). Still, there is an element of realism in Tina’s story, which I did also appreciate; not everything is going to get resolved within the span of a year. Whether or not Nicholas, Pete, or any of the individuals get charged is really none of our business; if anything, our focus remains on Tina and her empowerment. True, she’s healing, and it’ll take time. Nonetheless, while we might not get the perfect happily ever after we were hoping for, that’s okay. I loved how community partners worked with her, from Dr. Nakamura’s therapy sessions, to Officer Hussein’s quick and effective responses, to even the SANE nurse who told her that a rape kit could be taken at any point in time.
But even without the ending, this still feels like a fairytale. This might sound horrible, but this book is the idealistic setting for healing from trauma, even though Tina had to suffer through even more trauma (fuck Pete and Nicholas and Harriet and Laila). A lot of people who experience this might not talk for a long, long while, and even if they do, there’s a chance not everyone will believe them, especially if the figure is a powerful, popular figure in the community. And true, it did take Tina a while to get her resources together, but as someone who works in community mental health and with the police, again, this is the ideal. Communication issues are a motherfucker, and of course, not everyone in the community knows one another; I was a case manager and I’m still finding new resources. More unfortunately, I’m from the South, and as many of you may or may not know, many people from the South are reluctant about matters that are supposedly “private”. It isn’t appropriate to talk about sex in general, much less having safe sex and consent.
The tone of everyone supporting Tina reads straight off of workbooks like The Courage to Heal. It got to the point where I thought Madison was a robot and Nate was this hacker fairy godmother who could make life a living hell for the villains with a wave of his technological wand. That being said, it was a feel good story, and while I wished I knew what’d happened with the villains of this story, I’m glad I was able to read Tina’s. As such, I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

The protagonist of the story is an 18 year old girl named Tina Lauren. She is someone who hates being touched. Everything was going well in her life, but one day, a guy named Nicholas Parker, crosses a line & Tina retaliates in public and this incident thrusts her into a harsh spotlight and reveals her long-buried scars. Soon she faces revenge, betrayal, slander & bullying—till the voices in her head threaten to drown her. To move forward, Tina must confront her past once and for all.
Will she be able to confront her past?
To know the answer, you must read this superb book.
The story shows how trauma scars a person and how it affects his/her life long-term but it also conveys an amazing message and that is even if you hit rock bottom, you have the ability to bounce back ten times higher because you have something priceless with you always- your inner voice.

I received a free ebook copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I finished and rated it early morning on the day of its publication (October 9th).
I don't currently have the brain bandwidth to do an in-depth review of this book as I would like to do it. Instead, I will simply say I wish I could rave like the 5 star reviews I've read as some of the subject matter is important and deserves great stories dedicated to it. However, I would feel I'd be highly deceptive and ignoring what I read if I were to say anything close to what some of them say (though that's not intended to cast aspersions upon those reviews as I'd like to think they somehow genuinely thought or believe those things...). The best I got for positive things to say right now is that it's easy to read most of the time and has a good spread of representation. And it aims for an empowering story with an inspirational message when it comes to sexual assault/rape, CSA, self-harm, and trauma (whether it's successful at doing so or not is up to the individual reader, I suppose, but I found it only neutral in its handling of the story and topics).
All I will say critically for now is that, in my opinion, this book needed more drafts of editing for polishing to remove redundancies, errors, strange adjectives, and the like; dialogue naturalizing; and severe consistency edits (for the world-building, the storyline beats that just disappear or seem to be forgotten before somewhat reappearing, information about things being given at delayed places as if the things were appearing for the first time or characters' knowledge not lining up). No making multiple changes to the story, as the author said she did while editing over seven years (which I was utterly unsurprised to learn, as that shows), but just editing.
I will come back to this once I have more brain bandwidth to provide examples of what I mean and also give more of my own gripes beyond purely how the book is written (such as a character being constantly called a chef or the year time skip less than a quarter through). And also maybe edit my review for clarity and so on... Until then, ciao.

We all have faced Bullying as a child. I remember how, when I was in 7th standard, my classmate used to say I have ugly hands and that I was too tall to be a girl, and that no guy would ever like me. It did make me feel bad but I knew that the day would eventually pass and I'd be home by noon. My story is normal and not depressing. But I have a story for you that will wreck your perception of equality and humanity in a human soul. The story of Tina Lauren is heartbreaking and long. Over the years she has faced a lot of pain, emotionally and mentally, as a teen and whatnot. But when one boy, Nicholas Parker breaks the bar of her tolerance and his attitude, Tina voices her discouragement. On this, she is portrayed in the wrong image in public and among the people she knows. She fights her battle despite all of this.

Unclutter is Book One in the Inner Voice Series. This is the debut novel by this talented author and was so beautifully written that I anxiously await more novels written by her. This book touches on difficult topics such as abuse and self harm but was done in a way that is realistic and honest yet done in a respectful and empathetic manner. The story centers around the character of an eighteen-year-old girl named Tina who has never felt like she belongs. After a traumatic incident with an abuser young Tina is labelled as a liar, slandered, and bullied. She must find the inner strength and courage to stand up to her abuser and overcome her inner demons. This was a powerful and poignant read about the journey that victims of abuse struggle through and as a survivor of abuse, this story really hit home for me. I know how difficult it is to find the courage to not only move forward but to find the strength to face your bully or abuser. It is imperative to create a support system as Tina did and have those that will support you through the highs and lows. I loved the character of Tina who was vulnerable yet strong, smart, feisty, determined, and resilient. I loved that she found the inner strength she needed to come forward. Unfortunately, society is often too quick to judge and label victims of abuse while allowing the abusers to get away with what they have done. This creates a cycle of revictimizing the victim which adds to the trauma they have already suffered. This book contained themes of trauma, abuse, gaslighting, cover-ups, injustice, friendship, hope, and faith. A great book and I look forward to reading more by this author.
