A compelling story about an African-American by the name of Marques Price, who after growing up in a section of the city of Houston, Texas known as the Fifth Ward; will become a famous singer starting at a very young age. As the years of prosperity and success goes on for Marques Price, his singing flair will also have him and his inflexible working mother and grandmother leaving Houston for the city of Inglewood, California. His producer at this time, a man by the name of Jack Edwards; who also discovered Marques Price at a talent show, will begin an entertainment tour with Marques Price; and another group, a trio of young girls known as, "Soul Children," and also an up and coming biracial young woman by the name of Adina McCray. Jack Edwards, who is also the President of a recording company known as, "Flamingo Records," would soon notoriously name the tour, "Pork Chop Circuit," mainly because of the very hefty revenues that these young, gifted African-American singers would invariably bring him. Later and because of a horrific twist of fate would befall Jack Edwards, and soon a good will for the now grown up Marques Price. From the very early sixties until the late "bombastic" eighties, the reader will gasp, cry and they will enjoy the rise of Marques Price, who will also make a successful turnaround for the Flamingo Records Company, and the entertainment empire that would also place him as one of the country's most notable and well moneyed entrepreneurs.
