The Choice Is Yours

Rate this book
Discover twelve choices that will lead you to a joyful and purposeful life!

We live in a culture that caters to our choices. We like our options, and we enjoy the opportunity to choose our preferences. Popular psychology and human reasoning tell us to make choices based on what feels good. They encourage us, “just follow your heart.” God has given us a much better guide, however, in His Word. Unlike our fickle and untrustworthy opinions, God’s Word never changes. Its dependability has been proven through the centuries.

In this thirteen week lesson series, explore twelve choices that can strengthen or weaken your walk with God.
Topics include:

• Authenticity
• Faith
• Identity in Christ
• Joy
• Strength in trials
• Victorious, Spirit-filled living

Discover these important, daily decisions that will bring joy and purpose to your life!

This book just wasn't what I was looking for. The author shared stories to illustrate her points, but they weren't stories of her struggles. The book was very basic ideas that most of us learn in Sunday School.

What kind of choices do we make on a daily basis? As I read a chapter each week, I viewed my own life and choices. This is a convicting read, and while it is simple and shares encouragement that all Christians have heard many times, it's worth picking up.

“If we want to cultivate lives that reach deeper than the external disciplines or visible evidences of Christianity, then at the core of our decisions must be hearts that are authentically hungry for God.”

“If we wait to use our faith until it is great, we will never do anything by faith. Faith grows through use.”

“There is another and less noticeable way that we crowd our spiritual desires. Sometimes instead of filling our lives with sinful pleasures, we fill it with that which has no sustenance.”

“Instead of spending time in prayer, we choose to let our minds fret all day. Instead of talking to the Lord, we call a friend. Instead of reaching up to trustingly take the hand of the Father, we try to do it on our own.”

“When we release our past to the Lord, He does an amazing work. He reaches into the attic storage of our lives, and from the bins we’ve long forgotten, He creates a future wrapped in His amazing grace.”

“We must choose to apply God’s Word regardless of what our feelings tell us.”

"Happiness is based on what happens to you, and it depends on external circumstances that are often beyond your control. Joy, on the other hand, is based on what is in your heart, and Jesus promised us that our joy can remain constant regardless of surrounding circumstances.”

“Sometimes we feel as it we won’t make it through. It seem as if the very fires that are meant to consume the impurities in our faith are actually going to consume us. This is why we need God’s grace.”

This is the first book I've read by Terrie Chappell and I have to say I was impressed. In this book she examines choices we have regarding faith, prayer, worship, etc. and their impact on the Christian life.
She shares personal experiences regarding her life and choices which definitely gave the book a more interpersonal feel to it. A practical book for readers looking to improve their life with God-honoring choices and decisions.

Life is filled with choices...

Fantastic book. Literally opens your mind's eye to the choices we choose to make, or not, truly does affect our day to day life; ultimately affecting our relationship with God and our family and friends; even co-worker.
A must read, if you're looking to be "better than yesterday..."

Overall, there was nothing I disagreed with the author on, and I loved her use of Scripture to support every point she made. It simply felt like it was written to either a new believer or someone who had never grown in their faith. Definitely not a bad book and I’m sure I would recommend it to others, it just felt very “basic” to me.

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read in the Christian life. It’s easy to read, very applicable, and provides spiritual backing for every action it recommends! I truly loved reading it and am glad it was the first book I finished of 2020!

This is a very insightful book on how making correct choices in our lives and trusting God can lead too a joyful life even in times of turmoil. I found it a little repetitious at times though, but definitely something to think about.

An excellent book about making decisions on an hourly basis, if necessary, in order to become the woman God desires me to be, whether at work, at home, or within my own heart. We used it as a study book in a young moms group at my independent Baptist church.
