Leah hates Killian. The alpha wolf that rejected her.
He was destined to be her mate, but no, she was too witchy for him. She wasn't going to stand around waiting for him, and she certainly wasn't going to follow him around like a lost little puppy.
Just a tiny problem. He needs her.
Her coven and her parents believe it's a good idea for her to go with him, to help him on his super secret mission. So that's what she does. Not because she wants to be with him, but because he needs a witch.
Killian is in search of a way to break the mating bond between him and Leah. She cannot be his mate. A witch will be his undoing. He’s seen the prophecy. Leah will destroy the pack, and he can’t allow that to happen.
He has to go on a quest and make the ultimate sacrifice. Mate with Leah, and then end that bond. He has waited a lifetime to find his mate, and now he must let her go. Can he?
Will he destroy the prophecy for the sake of his pack? Or ruin the only good thing to ever come into his life?
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
Would’ve given this one 5 stars for virgin heroine/non-manwhore hero, but for the stupid editing mistakes. It was a good story about a witch and a wolf shifter who are fated mates. But because of some prophecy foretelling of a witch being the downfall of his pack, the hero takes the heroine on a quest to break their mate bond.
This author can be really hit or miss for me, so much so that sometimes I wonder if there’s multiple authors behind this name or the author just has split personality disorder, because one book can be awesome, written smoothly and bring the swoon and emotions and then the next book seems like it comes from a totally different mind, riddled with stupid and lazy writing errors, totally missing the swoon with heroines who have been rutted by other men, and slimy manwhore heroes.
Except for the sloppy writing, I liked this story and the plot. And I loved the epilogue. I also loved that the hero isn’t a manwhore with zero details on his past.
Safe. Heroine is a virgin, belongs only to her hero and gives the hero the gift of claiming all of her firsts. No others, no cheating or sharing or abuse. HEA with epilogue
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Short summary of below who want a quick glance: The book is great, I absolutely loved it and would recommend. I will be now embarking on reading the rest of the books within the series as I NEED MORE!!!!!
❀ Strong FMC ❀ Alpha male ❀ Romance ❀ Enemies to lovers ❀ Fantasy; wolves, witches, vampires etc ❀ Dual POV ❀ Third person that WORKS! ❀ Fated Mate
I absolutely ate this book up. I loved it so very much! The storyline had me and I was OBSESSED. Leah and Killian and their dynamic just worked. Killian rejected Leah due to a prophecy. Then they have to embark on this ‘super secret mission’ alone together whilst people are trying to harness/kill/capture Leah, which has nothing to do with the reason why they have to go on this ‘super secret mission’. Along the way they come across a variety of different kinds of creatures including but not limited to; witches, wolves, vampires, humans etc etc. This book was a dual POV and third person mix. For someone who generally avoids third person, this worked wonderfully. May I add, the smut had me BLUSHING! 🫣 I say no more.
I found the world building great as well as the character development between the two. I found I delved into the land they lived upon and was taken along with them. The story line was a page turner and I found myself eager to find out what happens next, and the outcome of the ‘super secret mission’. It was romantic as well as suspenseful. It is a short read and the epilogue simply made me cry due to my attachment with both the characters. I found my heart aching and warming several times throughout the journey for them both at different times.
My conclusion is, I recommend for people to read this. So much so that I will now be reading the rest of the books within this series as I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I thought this was a very entertaining read, I loved the characters , their development and relationship growth within the storyline , I thought the writing was good and I’ll definitely be back for more from the author

Would you want to? Not me! I’m like the leading lady in this quest to their undoing. The future has many possibilities and if you hear of one of them you can find yourself walking willingly to your doom. It’s a good thing this selfish, selfless alpha male has so many people invested in his HEA. I love how the author took them on an epic adventure and made the final battle one to remember. They grew stronger together and made a real connection, but did they get to enjoy it in the end? I guess you will need to read the book to find out.
I want to point out the good areas before going into why I rate 2 stars.
I think the author has a good plot skeleton and this could really turn into something great. I admire the writer for their time and effort towards writing this.
This book was not for me, I think there is a lot of maturing needed in the writing style. It reads like a middle school adventure, but is adult in that there are on page sex scenes. A lot of the writing spelled out things but could have been inferred from the situation or with descriptive writing. Saying things like he didn’t like this, or he felt this way are usually picked up from the dialogue and story, not telling the reader.
I felt like the plot was pretty confusing, yes it had an arc and resolution and challenges along the way, but the wasteland scene was over in like 2 sentences and should have really been drawn out and described.
Overall the story is not very long but took quite awhile for me to read and get through. I really did not like Killian at all, he would not listen to reason and then flipped over to Leah mode at the drop of a hat, also it was like sloppy seconds since his first plan didn’t get accomplished.

Leah is one of the most powerful witches to have ever been born, that makes her vulnerable and in constant danger from those who want her magic for themselves especially those who practice dark magic. All of this she can handle but when the man she has been fated mates with is Killian an Alpha Wolf who has publicly rejected her, she humiliated and devastated by his rejection. After months of heartache, he is suddenly asking her to join him on a secret mission, knowing that she is opening herself up to more heartache spending time with him just the two of them even though this is something she craves. But with danger around every corner and the fact that she is being hunted will they make it to the end of the mission and when she discovers why they are there how will she react to the truth?
Killian knows that there is no way that he can be the fated mate to a witch, especially after the prophecy he learned of years ago that would destroy his pack, so when he learned that he was not only the fated mate of a witch but one of the most powerful witch’s he knew that there was no way that they could ever be together. Rejecting Leah was the hardest thing that he has ever had to do but for his pack’s survival he had to put his wants and needs in the past and focus on what he needs to do and what he needs to do is break the mating bond between them forever. Learning of a way that they can be free of one another he convinces Leah to come with him on a secret mission, one that she has no idea will sever their connection. The more time that they spend together though the more he realizes what he is going to be losing, could the prophecy be wrong, could he be about to lose everything he has always craved, and will he be able to save Leah should danger come looking for her?
This was a great entertaining read although I did not love it as much as I have loved other books by Sam, although I loved Leah, she was such a strong character that was no pushover when she learns the truth and why she had been rejected in the first place. 4* read.
3.75stars-WRONG MATE is the seventeenth instalment in Sam Crescent’s contemporary, adult ALPHA SHIFTER COLLECTION erotic, paranormal, romance series of novellas. This is Alpha wolf Killian, and twenty-five year old witch Leah.
Told from dual third person, omniscient perspective (Leah and Killian) WRONG MATE follows in the aftermath of Killian’s rejection of his mate Leah. A prophecy has revealed that a witch will be the destruction of the Pack, and as such, Killian presumes Leah will be the downfall of the wolves. Without giving her a chance, Killian sets out on a journey with his rejected mate in tow, in an effort to sever the mate connection but days together means struggling to disregard the attraction and need, a need that will overcome our story line hero. What ensues is the building relationship between Killian and Leah, and the potential fall-out as Leah’s destiny is about to be foretold.
The relationship between Leah and Killian is one of fated mates but Killian has rejected our story line heroine, a rejection based on supposition, prophecies and lies. Killian has always wanted a mate but never expected to fall in love with a woman who he believe will destroy them all. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive.
We are introduced to Leah’s parents, as well as one of the highest witches in the coven Lucinda, sirens, vampires, and bears including Leah’s childhood best friend Mystic.
WRONG MATE is a story of prophecies and lies, vengeance and betrayal, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining; the romance is fated and impassioned; the characters are desperate and determined.
Wrong mate was a nice quick read. Honestly, Killian irked my nerves the majority of the book because of how idiotic his thoughts and actions were. And despite everyone telling him the same info that pretty much amounts to the fact that what he thinks could be wrong or doing what he's doing could be the catalyst for starting what he thinks will happen, he kept going. And it blew my mind he was so worried about Leah that he didn't for on second even think hey I'm asking a favor from a bad person maybe this is who I should be wary of or shouldn't use her. I shook my head alot during this book from exasperation. I was so glad Leah didn't immediately the him back and made him wait and grovel a bit. They could have been a bit more groveling, but I also understood the reasoning behind his madness. I was kind of hoping when he went after her and he found her she'd be pregnant, I think that would have added a interesting element especially the consequences of him mating her and planning to leave her. He would have had to think about not only did he miss time with his mate and her pregnancy but what would he have done if they went through with it but she was pregnant and alone or with a second chance mate. Just my imagination running off. Overall I liked the story and liked that the fmc although at time a bit naive and childish, but understandable, she was strong Mentally for the most part in that she was very upfront about not being a doormat which I appreciated, but she wasn't a damsel and was able to fend for herself and sometimes save him. From what I understand this is the 19th book in a series. I have not read any of the other books. I am happy to state that this can be read as a stand-alone book.
It was a very enjoyable story of mates, loyalty and prophecies. Wolf shifter Killian knows right away that Leah, a witch, is his mate but rather than embrace it, he decides that loyalty to his pack and the prophecy about his pack is more important than him taking a mate. The problem? He takes the prophecy as the gospel truth rather than the prediction of what may come. He needs to break the link that ensures they are mates. He tries to accomplish this by taking Leah with him on this journey but without telling her what is going on. All is not what it seems as these to journey forward on the mission. Can the prophecy be broken? Can Killian overcome his strong desire for Leah? Can Killian save his pack? So many variables for this stubborn alpha male to juggle and so little time to do it.
As an alpha male, Killian just does not want to listen to reason as he moves them forward in their journey and he will pay the ultimate price if he does not open his mind to possibilities. A very hot and steamy romance that has a lot of mystery and intrigue attached.

ARC review. It says you can read it as a standalone but there were quite a few moments that happened off page, in the past, that I really wanted to see and experience with our characters, I would’ve taken a flashback. I don't think it can be purely read as a standalone. Leah is a witch who's very powerful. She manifested powers young so she didn't get to grow up around other kids out in the world, she had to be hidden away from the humans. Killian is a werewolf. In this world they live to be very old, we never find out how old he is but they do mention his father was over 100. He is trying to find a way to separate their mate bond because of a prophecy that said a witch would be his downfall. He has to take her with him on the journey, but she doesn't know what's going. They're on this adventure together, with harrowing stakes, she doesn't know why, and he doesn't want to tell her, and even though he rejected her, they still feel the pull of being mates, they still want to be close to one another, it helps soothe them. Seeing their push and pull was really fun, they also have some great banter going on. She has been underestimated and treated like a child, she’s 25, because the witches are worried about her, so she's starts exerting her power more. Killian is softening more, and more, and more as they go along. It’s quick and there are parts I missed but the two of them together is great, and steamy.
Rejection, whether human or wolf shifter stings like the dickens. Leah was not going to give Killian another chance to hurt her. Being forced to travel with, and help, him on a quest was not the way she could do that. He was her mate, irresistible to her but he was stubborn and she knew it was not going to end well for her… Killian had his reasons for rejecting his mate. He hurt himself and Leah, but he was not going to cave. This was for the best. He was alpha, he knew what was best. (Silly alpha).
I really enjoyed this entry in the Alpha Shifter collection. Full of mystery and quest-ful drama, the push and pull between them added delicious heat and tension to a story already full of questions and suspense. They each surprised each other as threats were faced and overcome, further strengthening a bond they both resisted completely…
This was a totally satisfying enemies to lovers, paranormal romance – who doesn’t enjoy love triumphing in the end!
*I happily reviewed this story **Thank you to BookSirens
Some of these wrong mates, to me, were seeming to all kind of sound the same. However, this one came out of left park (in a good way) and I absolutely loved this one. Killian and Leah are mates and both know it. But while Leah is willing to mate with the much older alpha wolf, Killian isn't having it. A prophecy has Killian convinced that a witch will be the downfall of his pack and Leah isn't only just a witch, she's the most powerful witch. To break the bond between them Killian must go on a quest, alone with his mate. Spending a few days alone with the woman he wants but can't mate with shouldn't be too difficult, right? However, things aren't all they seem. Prophecies aren't always to be believed, and Killian is going to have to decide if he's willing to break the bond permanantly, despite everyone telling him he's making a mistake.

Leah was born a powerful witch. She is special, gifted but mated to an idiot Alpha wolf. Killian knew that he couldn’t have a witch as a mate. The prophecy told of this. He had to sever the bonds and free himself and her. But the journey isn’t as simple as it seems. The longer they are together, the more Killian is wondering if this is right. I have to say from the beginning I was feeling Leah’s pain. She didn’t choose Killian, but fate did. But to be humiliated by his rejection in front of the pack was cold. Then to go on this quest, not knowing what for. Killian did deserve the pain he got. He should have talked with Leah first. She was the smart one. She knew how a prophecy worked. This one will pull at your threat.

Leah had been told Killian needed her help to go on a quest. She wasn’t happy Killian was her fated mate and had rejected her in the past.
Killian would have take Leah to mate years ago and not rejected her if not for a prophecy which foretold of a Witch destroying his pack. His Wolf was crying out for her but his pack came first and the quest was to try to sever the mating link so that she could live her life and find another mate perfect for her.
What an adventure, I loved the characters along the way and how they both came to know each other’s personalities. You could feel all the emotions within the storyline and know that they were meant to be together.
A mad, passionate, steamy journey into love with a HEA! Thoroughly enjoyed the story!.

Sam Crescent’s Wrong Mate is a tale of a witch and a wolf who are fated mates. Killian is his pack’s Alpha and he must always protect them first. Leah is such a strong witch that she has been raised only in her coven. There is so much emotion, drama, and danger packed in their lives because a prophecy seems to point at Leah being his pack’s downfall.
Manipulation, betrayal, darkness, and jealousy plot to turn Leah towards dark magic and destruction. Killian feels an intense sexual and emotional connection to Leah even though he rejected her and is set on a path to break their bond. Leah and Killian are strong and even stronger together, are scorching hot, and make their world better. Loved it!!.

This is quite the rejected mates story that's based around a prophecy. Killian is a wolf shifter that has lived a VERY long time and he was told a prophecy of a witch killing his pack... When he finds his fated mate is a witch, he rejects her to save his pack...and then embarks on a mission with her to go and get their mating bond removed. Sadly, he doesn't share his plan with Leah, his mate, and she sasses her way along side him ;) Of course, their journey if fraught with danger and the issue of their bond pulling them closer and closer. Expect an exciting read that's full of magic, lies, vengeance, betrayal, and smoking hot chemistry and love. It was a fast paced and entertaining page turner for me :D
This stories two main characters are Killian the alpha of his wolf clan and Leah a young witch. When Killian finds out they are fated mates he takes Leah on a quest to break this bond because he has read a prophesy that says a witch will be the undoing of his clan and he feels he must put the clan first even though he will never have another mate if he does this. Will Leah be able to make him see that love is worth the risk and prophesys are not set in stone. Check this one out to see. Its worth it.

Killian and Leah are fated mates, but they don’t immediately fall for one another. Their differences is like a wall between them that must be overcome. During a “secret mission,” they must rely on each other and begin to let their guard down allowing their natural feelings to grow.
This book had some good world building with witches, werewolves and elements of the supernatural. Some action, adventure and suspense with an enemies-to-lovers trope. Very enjoyable and entertaining.

What an incredible book. I totally enjoyed this story. Killian was the alpha of his wolf pack and his fated mate was a young witch named Leah. He believed a prophesy that suggested a witch would be the downfall of his pack. He thought it would be Leah. Turns out he was wrong. They could not stop the feelings that accompany mating and they fell in love. The ending of this story was beautiful and I liked the fact that she did not just simply give in to him but allowed him to prove his love. I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers.

“Mine,” he said. “Yours.” “Forever.” “Yes, forever.”
Super quick read. It's hard to like the H, one thing would have been him telling her privately about the rejection and why? But no, everyone knows and he's a jerk about it, even rude to her. So it makes you hope that she is free of him. The h is very likeable and she's all love and sunshine. The ending felt abrupt. She shed many tears for him. I agree with many reviewers, he suffered nothing. Yeah he makes a sacrifice but we don't see or feel her passion like we do her. I think that would have made it more stars.

I was sucked into this story from the get-go. The characters are interesting and their rationale for acting the way they do made me go "huh?" but in a good way.
Killian's reason made some sense but at the same time if he had just listened to Leah's explanation about prophecies they wouldn't be in the pickle they were in.
The pacing was good and before I even realized it, the story was done leaving me with warm tingles. I loved it! It didn't need to be longer. Great job, author!

I’m kinda shocked. I stopped reading Sam since most of her books were poorly edited and seemed pretty much like FanFiction. Not that anything is wrong with FF but as a novel I always expect a little more since it goes through editors and stuff. And you know what good for Sam making a career out of her books. But this one blew me away. She must have gotten a better editor because this was completely different than her other books. It was way more polished and I enjoyed that. Plus her FMC wasn’t weak. Honestly I’m shocked this was a Sam book. Good for her!
I absolutely love paranormal romance & Sam Crescent has delivered a 5 star read with Killian & Leah's story. Their journey is a enemies to lovers rollercoaster ride that had me hooked from page 1. They are supposed to be mates but he rejected her & now she hates him. Despite her hatred she can't deny the growing attraction. Will he remain stubborn in his beliefs & lose what is right in front of him?.

I really liked this paranormal story. This was my first wolf and witch story and I was intrigued. The only reason why I didn't rate it 5 stars is because we're told Killian rejects his mate Leah, rather being privy to this scene. I think it was crucial to the story in my opinion and not reading about it made me feel like I missed something very important while reading the prologue. I enjoyed The Quest aspect of the story, the magic and the fiery love scenes.
It was a pretty decent read. Since it is a pretty short book, it felt like there wasn't that much backstory. You just get pulled in when things start happening. For me the spicy scenes were okay, not blown away. Or at least I wasn't really a fan of how it was brought across.
The writing wasn't my cup of tea and the plot of the story felt a bit of a miss. I was excited to read this, but the book left me disappointed.

“Rejecting her had been one of the hardest things he had ever done.”
I love this series and this was a great addition. Leah was a wonderful, strong heroine and I really liked her. Killian drove me crazy with his stubborn tunnel vision. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face, he was literally his own worst enemy. Even his wolf knew what an idiot he was being. I liked how she didn’t forgive him right away and made him work to win her back. The epilogue was a sweet glimpse into their HEA.
