Conner Sharp, a rogue wolf and murder detective, was supposed to be an alpha – until his pack betrayed him and left him for dead. Then he met Seth Alwen, his new partner, and things started looking up. The beautiful seer lusts after him – even if he keeps an infuriating number of secrets.
But something dangerous is stirring inside Conner. The urges of an alpha wolf he buried years ago are rising to the surface. Whenever Seth is near, the beast threatens to unleash itself on the man Conner cares for the most – the man who might be his long lost mate.
Seth never thought he’d shack up with a shifter, but Conner’s allure is impossible to deny. How will his boyfriend feel about Seth’s carefully guarded past, and the secrets that could rip their relationship apart?
Can Seth deal with the new alpha side of his lover while confiding in Conner what their future holds?
While the two men grapple with desire and trust in their relationship, a new murder threatens Haven City and all her shadow folk. A murder that brings Seth and Conner front and center to a dangerous necromancer and the one group of people the seer wants to avoid more than anything: his own family.

It's book two and we're introduced to Conner a rogue wolf and detective who is introduced as Seth Alwen's newest partner. What a great addition to the fold. Love Conner from his brooding introduction to his mysterious past. He seems to be just what Seth needs. Or is he?
Love these two characters and can't wait for more!
This was so bad... It was the first time I had problems finishing a book, I hated the whiney personality of Seth and his self-doubt all the time 'Should I tell him?' or 'Should I not?', sometimes I wanted to strangle the life out of him... The first book was better, but still... as a whole the series sucked. The sex was interesting, but that was the only thing that was.
So I was a bit disappointed that we never get an explanation about the way that magic was impacted around Haven City. Did it effect everyone, and most people just didn’t notice? Shouldn’t Price have noticed something when he returned from China? Was it a cause, or an effect, of the power stealing? Was the symbol that forced power use involved in it, or was that separate and unique to the hunters who used it? Why didn’t those hunters share such a coup against magic users with as many other hunter groups as possible?
This book was fun to read, and a great continuation of Seth and Connor’s story, but left a lot of wholes in the overall plot that I don’t recall ever being addressed later in the series. It’s like the author was going in a certain direction, but after this book, chose to pivot in a new way and never came back to clean up the loose ends.
Book two started off slow and annoying! For the first half of the book we get more lying from Seth about his visions and it’s just stupid. So he feels guilty because he thinks it’s his fault his first partner died. Why? Because he had a vision of her dying and didn’t tell her about it. Now he’s having visions of his new partner (and lover!) dying and he doesn’t tell him about it. Just stupid and annoying.
When we finally get beyond this and they pick up more hints as to who the villain is and what he’s doing the story picks up and gets more riveting. The climatic scene is exciting and revealing. (Have to say I figured out the villain long ago and am annoyed Seth didn’t figure it out.) The end of the Book is refreshing and I’m glad to wrap this book up but I don’t think I’ll read more in this series.
I'd give this 3.5 stars rounded up, as it's the one which caught my attention enough to decide to continue with the series.
I like both Seth and Conner, and it was nice to see them *finally* communicate (though it came far too late in the story for my taste). Still, the plot was interesting, Seth's family was horrible (and yet still had realistic tones to them), and I like how Seth and Conner built their relationship.
As with the other books, the writing here isn't great (as far as mechanics go) -- misused words, misused apostrophes, weak sentence structures, and so on.
Still, this book definitely pulled me into the world enough that I will continue.
The story of Connor Sharp and Seth Alwen continued, and this book conclude the first part of the story, as the next books will feature new couples.
I enjoyed the story a bit more than the first one in the series, I think the world-building is interesting enough, although all the Sterek fanfiction I consumed made me see shifters in a different light. In this world, shifters are not nearly as invincible as they are in later shifter books.
I enjoyed the book enough that I will read the next book in the series.
Seth and Connor have taken down the hooded man and we find out that it is not the person they think it is. This story seemed a little more developed than the first in the series. But the ending was a little anticlimactic. All in all good story.
Both books revolve around Seth and Conner. Seth is a seer and Conner is Wolf Shifter, both are detectives in Haven City. With all books detailing magic gets very confusing and seeing visions isn't any clearer but it was told the best way it can. I really liked both characters and the were very hot together but they kept to many unnecessary secrets from one another. I wanted to shout at both of them for being stupid but I guess that's what makes a good book.
Nice wrap-up to Connor and Seth. There are unanswered threads that I hope get picked up in the following books. There was a sort of jump in the end action sequence that confused me for a hot minute, but I was overall pleased with the ending. Wish it was explained better how what the Big Bad was doing made it so Connor couldn't feel the mate bond in the city, though.
re-read: still enjoyable. same complaints, but they bother me less with each reread (possibly because I anticipate them).
I love this couple! In book two, we get more of the dynamic between Conner and Seth. Each has his own struggles and challenges to deal with, which ultimately affect them as a couple. Learning about the two MCs individually and seeing their relationship evolve kept me happily entertained!
Conner and Seth are searching for the killer and they eventually find him. Despite the seeing different things in the future Seth and Conner make their relationship work. They did get the killer with despite some up and downs. Conner lets Seth know that they are mates and that they do love each other. I can not wait to read the next book in the series. Erin
this book was good I enjoyed every second of it the story line was great and even how it picked up where it left off in the first book was great I'm really enjoying these books so far now onto the next one
This one picks up right where #1 left off. If anything it's more intense. Conner and Seth literally sizzle together on and off the clock. The pace of the story is near perfect, the mystery played out beautifully. It was fabulous, you should read it.
