That’s what twenty-year old Tori discovers when she moves in with her best friend, Liv for the summer. Liv’s older brother Brady is everything Tori knows is wrong for her, yet he invokes emotions deep in her soul that she’s never felt with anyone else. When the two eventually succumb to their feelings, Tori realizes Brady is not the same confident guy she’s secretly loved for years. Tori desperately wants Brady to confide in her, but he refuses to talk about the secrets that have drastically changed his life.
Turning to the one person that always makes her laugh, she begins spending time with the younger brother, Tug. The two grow closer and Tori wonders if her feelings for Tug run deeper than the “just buddies” status they’ve always shared. As she begins to explore her feelings, the conflict between brothers, she’d hoped to avoid erupts. She has to choose.
When Brady finally reveals his secrets, Tori makes her decision; one that may leave them all Irreparably Broken.

"A month ago, my ex wanted nothing to do with me, Brady was farway, Harrison didn't exist, and Tug was just Liv's obnoxious little brother. Where is the rewind button."
Tori Marie Peterson has several hot guys after her in this novel. She has had her heartbroken by her boyfriend Jake but to make matters worse her BFFAA’s sexy older brother, Brady leads her to see Jake’s betrayal. Tori has had a life long crush on Brady but she just can’t get past Brady’s brash outing of Jake.
"Why do I turn to warm mush everytime he looks at me? I mean, he broke my heart before, opened the door reality and forced me to watch. Yet his body closed in on me, I liquefied"
Tori is living with Liv’s family. Liv, her business oriented parents and Tug (Aiden) who is Liv’s younger brother by nine months. Now…Tug had me from the first time he asked Tori out till the very end of this book and beyond!!!
This book is told in the alternating povs of Tori and Brady. Brady has returned home for the summer to put his feelings out there for Tori. Well…he kinda takes forever on this. Talk about a book runner. This guy gives the Gingerbread Man a run for his money.
He's broken, and I'm so afraid it's irrevocable. "I'm sorry Sunshine. I told you I was toxic - I'm fucking poison."
Brady sends messages on tissues and shows glimpses into who he really is while guarding his secrets and driving a reader crazy. Tug and Harrison jockey for Tori’s heart.
When all the twists and turns are revealed a reader finds a nice hea but this reader wanted the story to go another route, it happens.
Overall, K.J. Bell does a fine job with this novel. I’m hoping my guy gets his own book in the near future.
I’d rather watch Cry Baby staring Johnny Deep than leave him without his own hea!!
I'm serious guys!!! I can't recover for what i have just read!!!! My mouth is still hunging open!!! Help!!!
This story starts like the usual book with heartbeatings, girls having fun, parties and all the other stuff that young girls do in the age of 19-20... But it turned out much, much deeper!!! I think it was a trip from childhood to adulthood but with a hard and difficult way...
Tori's parents move out and allowed her to stay in her best friend's house... She was recovering from an ugly break up with her three years boyfriend and for that she was blaming only one guy... Brady. Her best friend's oldest brother who was staying away from there... But Brady returns and that leave her unstable... The one moment she hates him and the other she's drown to him...
Brady returns home, even he's hating it to be there... He is there only because of her and because of the promise he made to someone that he'd love. The last year his life turned upside down and he is irreparably broken... He went back to admit his real feelings to Tori but he refuses to drown her in his misery life full of secrets and lies...even though the fact that he is near to her drives him crazy!!!!
The tension between them are thick and ready to explode any moment... In the beginning, they are trying to persuade themselfs that will be only friends but as the time passes they can't deny their feelings... But the secrets in Brady's life are too many and too ugly and he's afraid to let Tori learn about them...
As i was reading that book, i was making assumptions about those secrets, but believe me they were way worse than i thought... At the end, i was looking the letters as an idiot with my mouth hunging down... I'm not kitting, guys!!!
I loved this story so much, even in many spots was heartbreaking... It was also funny, adorable, tender, frustrating and even furious... But it was from the best stories i have ever read...
I want also to refer to Liv and Tug, who they were also so fucking great and i want to say that i was so sorry when their world collapse around them!!! They were amazing guys and i can't wait for their books and their stories!!!!
Oh! And i can't forget to tell you about the thing of tissues... It was funny and tender!!!! For an outrage fact the messages on tissues became a sweet way to communicate Brady with Tori... That was adorable!!! I really like it so much!!!
And i will live you with the last sentence of the book.... "I Love you, too. Thank you for picking up the pieces and gluing my heart back together. Without you, i would've been irreparably broken".
I can wait for the continuity of these series... even though i know that the problems will chase them once again...
4 Stars. This was an enjoyable, quick, and easy read.
My casting:
Brady
Tori
Liv
Tug/Aidan Shelia
Things I liked: 1. It's a standalone (Can you believe authors still make those? Ha!) 2. It had funny banter 3. No running!! 4. "I'd rather" jokes..."I'd rather masturbate with a cheese grater" 5. Sweet tissue notes 6. Brady. Brady. Brady. 7. Service to others included in story 8. I like that Tori's parents are still alive just in Minn-e-fuckin-sota.
Things I didn't like: 1. Sunshine - hate that nickname 2. 3.
Quotes: "I'm toxic, like fucking poison, nothing instant though - I'm something slow and painful"
"Having her won't be easy on my family, but she consumes me: every thought, and every fantasy. If I don't try, I'm not worthy of her love."
“I couldn’t breathe when I was away from you. It felt as though each breath was just enough to sustain me, but I was slowly dying. When I saw you again, I had a reason to breathe and then I messed up. I’m so sorry for everything I said to you on the pier, and for all of the pain I’ve caused you. I swear I will never leave you again."
Anyways, the moral of my review is, if you are looking for a decent read then I think this one is pretty decent. It has enough going on that you stay hooked into the story and want to continue instead of being bored to death.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Loved, Loved, Loved this story! When I read the synopsis I just knew....pull up a chair people, cause
A love triangle, possible love square...involving two brothers. Oh goodie.
Little did I know, I would get so much more then I bargained for.
Irreparably Broken begins with our heroine, Victoria Tori, moving in with her BFFAA Olivia (aka Liv) and her younger brother Tug for the summer. (For those of you not down with the acronyms, BFFAA = Best Friends Forever and Always! Duh!) The previous year, Tori broke up with her boyfriend of three years Jake. She caught him cheating on her, after he was "set-up" by Brady, Liv's older brother.
Now, Tori has been crushing on Brady FOREVER, but she hasn't spoken to him since the "set-up". She felt betrayed by the way things went down. Tori and Tug have always had a very close brother/sister type relationship. Tug is always teasing Tori, trying to get her to go out with him. I loved the banter between Tori and Liv and Tucker. It really lightened the story up and made me laugh.
Tori has no idea that Brady will also be home for the summer....until he walks in on her completely naked in the bathroom. Brady and Tori have an obvious attraction to each other. But soon, Tori realizes that Brady isn't the cocky, confident guy she remembers. Brady is tormented by secrets he holds in order to protect his family. He's broken and doesn't think he can be fixed, he doesn't think he deserves to be fixed.
Brady keeps Tori at a distance. Afraid to tell her his secrets, but not able to let her go. The whole time I'm reading, I'm trying to figure out what in the world could have happened to poor Brady. The author did a great job of dropping just enough hints to keep the suspense up and the reader dying to know what happened.
Eventually Brady and Tori give in to their feelings for each other. The sexual chemistry between them no longer able to be contained. And Holy Smokes was it HOT. Brady's "bad-boy" ways sure came out in the bedroom.
“How can something feel so fucking right and also, so incredibly wrong?”~Brady
But, just as quickly as it begins, it ends. Brady's secrets start to come out and he runs away from it all. From the pain of his past, his friends and family disovering his secrets and the future he doesn't think he deserves. Tori is once again left heart-broken when Brady leaves. She still doesn't understand everything that is going on.
Tori turns to Tug, the person that always makes her smile. He slowly helps her crawl out of the sadness and start to live again. She's always loved Tug but never been in love with him. But the more time she spends with him, the more she begins to question her feelings for Tug.
At the same time, Brady realizes that running wasn't relieving any of his pain and that until he reveals all of his secrets to Tori he will remain broken and irreparable. Things really exploded from here....the last 10% of the book I was like
Secrets are revealed, truths are discovered, past lies are uncovered and lives are forever changed. Who will Tori choose once she knows everything? How will this effect Liv and Tug? Will Brady remain forever irreparably broken?
“I couldn’t breathe when I was away from you. It felt as though each breath was just enough to sustain me, but I was slowly dying. When I saw you again, I had a reason to breathe and then I messed up. I’m so sorry for everything I said to you on the pier, and for all of the pain I’ve caused you. I swear I will never leave you again."~Brady
Fantastic read! It had it all....shocking moments, panty melting moments, heart-breaking moments, laugh out loud moments, sweet moments (*sigh* the Kleenex), and feel good moments.
This was a standalone book with a HEA. Though I wouldn't be sad if Tug got his own book. :)
This book is really awful. It is so dimwitted, any cliche for a romance novel you can think of, but somehow even more annoying.
SPOILERS BELOW>>
Liv, Tori's best friend, is the stereotypical bestie who encourages her 'BFFAA' to be more slutty and constantly calls her "bitch" affectionately (I am so sick of this character, please come up with something more original, I beg of you)
Tori comes to live with Liv's family over the summer because her parents have relocated for a job in Minnesota. Even though she is a college student who is no longer really tied to her parents, she consistently mentions that she refused to move with them. This information is useless, except to explain why Tori has claimed squatters rights at her best friend's family house, where she is "forced" (yeah, i'm sure it is torture) to constantly have run-ins with her friend's amazingly intelligent and gifted as well as super-model gorgeous brothers, Tug and Brady. Tug is a genius, living at home, and Brady is back in town LA after taking a break from USC law school.
Tori, well all the boys want her: her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her, wants her back. Her co-worker at the coffee shop wants her so badly he will fight for her and doesn't want her to get hurt. Tug, younger brother, is in love with her and constantly asking her out. Brady is in love with her so much so that he can't have a successful relationship with any other girls. Why is Tori so irresistible? That never becomes clear. From how she is described, a dimwitted, insecure, and selfish chubby girl, the reader can only imagine she must be "special".
In Brady's quest to express his undying love for her he repeatedly tells her to "f*** off" and that they can't be together. Brady is so tormented by his own demons (that in fact are ridiculous) he consistently commits heinous acts to push her away. After each attempt to distance himself, however, he immediately comes-on to her. His mixed messages are not met with confusion and disgust by Tori. Tori is puddy in his psychotic hands, bending to his every mood swing and accepting of his every abuse.
Tori and Brady's romance is no fun to read about. They are annoying to the point that I could not care less about their future. I find myself wanting one of them to die just so that something worthwhile happens. I almost get my wish when Tori is thrown from a jet-ski after at a bonfire. After winning at poker, random, and picking random numbers from a hat, couples are selected to race jet-skis (because that is not insanely reckless, even if it wasn't at night and they were all wasted). Tori is partnered with the man she came with, Harrison, who she has ineffectively been trying to blow off the entire night despite the fact that she has led him for the past few weeks. About to get on the back of a jet-ski without a life-jacket, Brady stops her and tries to warn her that this is dangerous. Tori, who normally does whatever Brady wants, finally decides to put her imbecilic foot down. She throws his very valid concern in his face by accusing him of being jealous and controlling. Now the man is in fact that throughout the book, but she manages to ignore it except for this one time.
Unfortunately, she does not die, but secrets are exposed at the bonfire. Questions about Brady's ex-girlfriend and money. None of it makes any sense, but Brady is devastated that he has finally been revealed (not even close, nothing was learned). He escapes to Tijuana, away from Tori's prying questions. He almost beds a friendly hooker there, but can't go through with it because he is too in love with Tori of course.
While Tori is pinning miserably for her lover boy, she finally accepts a date from his brother (of course that makes sense, she lives with him so it is convenient for everyone). After a few dates she decides she loves him a little and they kiss passionately. Brady, at that moment, decides to come home and win her back. He sees them kissing and becomes enraged. Tori has a very important choice to make now between Tug who she has been on three dates with, and Brady who she has supposedly loved for years and years (how can she possibly decide).
She picks Brady and he finally reveals all his secrets that he has been hiding. The big secret is so convoluted and stupid I am not going to even write about except to say that it explains why he hates his "mom" Sheila and why he has a bunch of money, and why he has been volunteering at an orphanage in tijuana, and why his family paid off Vanessa's family after the motorcycle accident (actually that is still unclear). It fails to explain why he should be ashamed of anything. The boy has a complex, but Tori loves him anyways.
There is a happily ever after where everything gets resolved and works out perfectly (one year later). The best part of the book was when it ended and I could finally stop reading it.
Tug was my favorite character, too bad he wasn't put to good use.
Sometime ago a lovely lady contacted us wanting to know if we would be interested in taking a look at the novel she was working on. After reading the synopsis I was completely sold hook, line and sinker! It looked absolutely AMAZING and I was dying to get my eyes on it Irreparably Broken by K J Bell, is everything I hoped it would be and so much more…. FABULOUS read! An angst filled, full of sexy hotness, raw love story. It was everything I look for in a read. It pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down until I was finished (except when work got in the way, damn day job!!). I was completely consumed by the story and the characters, it was all I could think about. I had one helluva book hangover after I finished because I wasn’t ready for it end! I promise I will never look at a tissue the same way again <3 <3
LOVED LOVED LOVED the characters that K J Bell has created! Victoria (Tori) is very guarded, having been hurt in the past. She whole heartedly cares for those she loves. Her heart knows what it wants but her head isn’t sure. Liv is every girl’s best friend. She’s caring and funny (she ‘s absolutely hilarious) and loves her family and friends with all she’s got. Tug is BRILLIANT, I loved him! Sexy and sweet., he loves Tori wholeheartedly but knows that she thinks of him as a brother, or does she I absolutely LOVED the banter between Tug and Tori, it was so realistic and completely hysterical. I dare you not to fall for this funny, sexy man. Then there’s Brady *swoons* this sexy tormented man amazed me. I felt as conflicted as Tori when it came to Brady! There is so much to his story that you can’t help but fall completely head over heels for him, he had my heart aching. Finally there’s Harrison. Loved Harrison’s character because he made me so mad, I wanted him to stop interfering in where I wanted the story to go! My fingers are crossed that K J Bell gives us some more of these brilliant characters as I feel some of their stories still need to be told (hope she feels the same way, hint hint).
This riveting angsty love story, took me on one heck of an emotional roller coaster. The conflict that the characters were going through was so real and raw. Then there are the OH EM GEEEE moments in the storyline!!!! So many unexpected twists and turns that had me picking my jaw up off the ground. Just when I thought that I had all figured out… Nope, not even close. Looking for something hot to read?? Irreparably Broken is full of sexy steamy passion *fans self*. The love scenes are hot, sexy and tastefully written. Might want to check your blood pressure while reading this one, LOL! What is it about rainy nights Honestly, for me, Irreparably Broken is the whole package!! Congrats K J Bell for an absolutely amazing debut, you ROCKED it Girl!
Okay where to start with this review..... I have to say that after reading Irreparably Broken I was broken in more ways than one. Lord talk about a roller coaster of emotions and feelings and everything in between. I mean this story had so much of everything that the minute I started reading I was like WTF?? Then I went to OMG did he just do that? This is a summer MUST read while you are on the beach on the trolley anywhere because once you start to read it you will not be able to put it down.
In Irreparably Broken we meet Tori who is just doing what any girl does by hanging out with her best friend Liv and working. She is getting over a recent break up with her ex-boyfriend Jake. Jake was a selfish tool who took and never gave but Liv was right there for her and supported her like a great friend. Then after the break up with Jake what Tori really missed was being able to see Liv's older brother and Jake's friend Brady.
See for as long as Tori can remember she has been in love with Brady and she misses talking to him. Then Tori moves in with Liv and things start to change for her. For one she is like a total man magnet because Harrison who is her friend and co-worker is in love with her but she is not interested. Tori wants Brady and when Brady shows a little interest one night leads to something. But with every great story there are complications between them and Tori is willing to fight for the man of her dreams but when secrets and lies threaten to destroy everything around them Brady does the unspeakable and runs from everything.
Leaving Tori heart broken and devastated Tug who is Brady and Liv's little brother who is secretly holding a crush for Tori comes to the rescue and spends time with her and helps her ease some of the pain of losing Brady. But what Tori doesn't realize until it is to late is that Tug is in love with her and wants her. Just when Tugs tells Tori how he feels who should come back in the picture but Brady and Jake and yes folks I said Jake. Jake has decided after seeing Tori with Tug and a t the club he wants her back and he is willing to do anything to get her back. But what Jake does not realize is that Brady is back to win his woman and he will stop at nothing to get Tori back.
With all these guys professing their love for Tori she is not sure what is going on. All she knows is that all the secrets and lies and everything in between that is about to hit the fan will have her choosing one person and when it is all said and done in the end will Tori be happy with who she chooses? She knows Jake is an A$$hat and she is not sure if he is genuine in his approach of getting back together. Then there is the love of my life Tug lord help me Jesus I am in love with that boy. He is everything a great book boyfriend should be but is it enough? Then there is Harrison who really is the sweetest guy out there but does he stand a chance? Then the man of the hour so to speak Brady.... is he worth fighting for or should she let go and move on? Well you will have to read this book to find out!
As I was reading as I often do I came across two songs that really fit this book to a T and I mean a T. The first one is Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls http://youtu.be/NdYWuo9OFAw and Labrinth feat. Emeli Sandé - Beneath Your Beautiful http://youtu.be/bqIxCtEveG8 Take a listen after reading or while reading and see what you think. Happy Reading Guys!
I flipping loved this book. What a mix of emotions. It was very well put together to draw you in and keep you hanging at the edge.
Sometimes the events in our lives leave us with a shattered heart and irreparably broken.
Tori was trying to pick up the pieces after having her heart broken. With the help of her best friend, Liv, she decides maybe its time to move on. That is until Liv's older brother, Brady, shows up and stirs old feelings in Tori. Feelings of anger, rage, frustration, hatred, but if she is being honest with her self it's more like lust, like and maybe love. Tori Blames Brady for the fail of her past relationship.
Brady has been trying to run from the feelings he has towards Tori. Feelings that have been around for many years. But he is not in a good place emotionally or mentally. He is going through things that he can not talk about to ANYONE. His pull towards Tori is almost too magmatic to walk away from.
"Christ, look, I'm toxic, like fucking poison, nothing instant, though-- I'm something slow and painful, and you don't need that in your life."
But he knows he has to. For her sake.
"Prince Charming is out there somewhere, ready to give her the fairy tale she deserves. As much as I want her, she is better off without me in her life. She's better off with the fairy tale."
But sometimes you have to say fuck the fairy tale. Even if you know the consequences could be catastrophic. Because the magnetic pull is just too strong.
"Sunshine, you and Jake had sex, but trust me when I tell you, tonight is going to be your first time." His voice is husky and raw and he plants kisses on my neck between words. "The first time you know what it feels like for someone to own your body. The first time a real man makes loved to you until scream so loud the heavens hear you. And the first time you will understand what you mean to me."
But will their pull be enough to overcome the mystery, deceit, secrets, and guilt that consume Brady?
I really enjoyed Tori. She strong and not weak like most female characters in other books. She was able to think through her decisions. She was funny and had a very crappy memory that I could totally relate to. I'm always the one thinking "shit, what was his name?"
But the best part of the story was NO CLIFFHANGER!!! Yay! I've been reading soooo many stories with cliffhangers that it was nice to have the story of the MC's end.
What an awesome book about how secrets can tear a family apart but can also build them back up into so much more.
This book had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what secret Brady had and why it was going to effect his family so much. I kept thinking one thing then KJ Bell would prove me wrong.....what a way to keep me captivated to these pages!
I loved Tori and Brady! Their journey had ups and downs but it was so fun to experience it with them. And Tug - I'll go out with you just cause of your amazing personality!!! All the characters in this book were really great to know.
What can I say?? I loved this book. The characters were great. I loved Tori and Brady's story but what helped to make this book so good were the other characters: Liv, Tug, and even Harrison. I loved the tissues and I'm so glad it was incorporated into the end of the story. And finally probably the best part about this book as that it has an actual ending, no cliffhanger!!!
I love this book. Never a dull moment. It kept my attention throughout the whole book. I can't wait for the next book though after reading the description of it, it kind of got me on edge.
A month ago, my ex wanted nothing to do with me. Brady was far away, Harrison didn’t exist, and Tug was just Liv’s obnoxious little brother. Where is the rewind button? As much as my life was dull and monotonous back then, I preferred that to the crazy train I’m currently riding on.” ~Tori
Wow!! Where the hell did all that come from?!? What an ending! You think you are reading a sweet little romance story about Tori and Brady being destined for each other, but NOT!!! You are actually reading a story about lies, lies, and more lies. I am shocked!! I mean, I knew something wasn’t right and that a big secret was going to come out eventually, but all THAT!! I need to say it again….WOW!!
Tori thinks her family life is screwed up but she’s got nothing on the Hunter household and moving in with them wasn’t the best idea. Not only has she been in love with the oldest Hunter, Brady, for many, many years but she is best friends with his sister, Liv, and the other brother, Tug(I love Tug), is also interested in her. Sounds like a mess, right? And add in an ex-boyfriend who wants her back and you have a mess. But, there is also more….so much more that I wouldn’t spoil for you even if I was offered a night with Channing Tatum. Hmmmm….maybe I shouldn’t go that far but you get the point. Everyone needs to read it and experience it themselves.
“I never said I don’t like you, Sunshine. Believe me, I like you. I only said I wasn’t good for you. If things were different, you’d be mine. You’d be in my bed, underneath me anytime I wanted.” ~Brady
You will laugh, possibly cry, rage, swoon, smile, and be shocked throughout this story. Oh, and there are some pretty steamy sex scenes ;) Brady Hunter says all the wrong things at times, but at other times he can melt the panties right off of ya.
“Sunshine, you and Jake had sex, but trust me when I tell you, tonight’s going to be your first time.” "The first time you know what it feels like for someone to own your body. The first time a real man makes love to you until you scream so loud the heavens hear you. And the first time you'll understand exactly what you mean to me." ~Brady
I will be reminded of Tori and Brady’s story every time I see a tissue for weeks to come. Writing on tissues might be a little hard but the thought behind it is funny and romantic :)
I have mostly discussed Brady and Tori but I also loved Tug’s humor. His interaction with Tori was so sweet and funny. I was actually a little torn for just a few minutes on who was better for her, but Brady won me over when it all came out. Brady starts off as this hot headed lady’s man, and might have been that, but there also was a caring side to him that I couldn't resist. Like most other stories, I can't resist that bad boy!
I read this story and enjoyed every word of it without difficulty. My only hang up was that the end was so different. What happened to college for everyone?? How did they just up and change that much?? Don’t get me wrong, I still loved how it ended but it was just like they dropped their lives and moved on to new ones. Maybe that was a good thing but still a little odd to me. I would love to read more about Tori and Brady’s story plus find out more about Liv, Harrison, and Tug. But, for now, Happy Reading!!!
*ARC received from the author for an honest review*
Wow, this book is a Must Read and was amazing with an 11 Stars!!
Irreparably Broken has a lot of angst, emotional family drama, hotness, humor, surprising twists, tear jerker, healing, did I say Hotness!!
The POV's are Tori and Brady. Tori is best friends with Brady's little sister Liv and Tug Tucker. They grew up together over the year and their moms were best friends. Tori has been in love with Brady for years but Brady broke her heart by showing how much of a cheater her exboyfriend Jake was. Little did they both know how much feelings they had for one another and didn't realize that were both doing each other a favor to not hurt each other. Brady had a family secret that only him and his 'parents' knew. He was protecting this secret to not only ruin his relationship with Tori but to also not hurt his brother and sister.
There is no cliffhanger but there is a 2nd book coming out soon which I can't wait for the continuation of the next story. I am definitely wanting to find out more about Tug's story and how the business is going and also Liv and Harrison.
Fave Quotes from Brady to Tori: (51%of the book) "Sunshine, you and Jake had sex, but trust me when I tell you, tonight's going to be your first time."
"The first time you know what it feels like for someone to own your body. The first time a real man makes love to you until you scream so loud the heavens hear you. And the first time you'll understand exactly what you mean to me."
Fave quotes from Tori to Tug: "I'd rather have my nipples chewed by a pack of wild dogs than go out with you, Tug."
"I'd rather eat tootsies out of a little box than go out with you, Tug."
"I'd rather pick lice off a monkey thank go out with you Tug."

“I couldn’t breathe when I was away from you, as though each breath was just enough to sustain me, but I was slowly dying. When I saw you again, I had a reason to breathe and then I messed up. Things are never really what they seem. From the outside looking in people might think your life is perfect. Loving parents, great brother and sisters but no-one really looks that closely. For everyone has secrets, secrets that are big enough to crumble the life you thought you knew.
Let me introduce you to Brady Hunter, with his dark hair and green eyes and the body of a god, he is every women’s dream and he knows it. He has a rep for loving and leaving them. With his football career over due to an injury, Brady is studying law. When his internship falls through, he reluctantly returns home for the summer; Back home where the love of his life Tori is currently living. Torn between keeping a promise to his ex- girlfriend, Vanessa, he needs to tell Tori the truth about his feelings for her but he doesn’t feel worthy and the secret he carries is slowly tearing him apart.
Tori’s the girl I want to wake up to every morning and lie down with every night, but I can’t do it. I’ll hurt her eventually. She needs a “nice guy,” and that’s not me.
Tori Preston has been best friends with Brady’s sister Liv since forever. Her father's job is taking them to Minnesota. Not wanting to relocate, she is able to live with her best friend Liv and her family. Live has two brothers; Tug whom she adores and Brady. She loathes Brady; he is after all the one responsible for ending her 3 year relationship with Jake. Knowing Jake has cheated on her in the past, Brady wants to show Tori what a scum Jake truly is but ended up humiliated her by setting Jake up to cheat for her and all her friends to witness. Heart broken and betrayed she has sworn off men, especially Brady. He was supposed to be her friend. The thing is Tori also denies the fact that she is in love with Brady. Thank goodness for Tug, their younger brother, he makes the mood fun and the house an easier place to be, especially since she is stuck with Brady all summer.
“Wait, you did that back there on purpose, didn’t you? You wanted me to see.” I do a lousy job of hiding my rage, and his silence tells me I’m right. “I hate you, Brady.”
“Good, I need you to hate me, Victoria.”
Attempting to be friends, Brady can’t help but be near Tori. Tori knows that Brady is keeping secrets and she wants to help him but he continues to shut her out and continues to confuse her. He says he wants her, he kisses her and then he pushes her away. The notes he leaves her make her heart melt. Something has changed in the confident man she once knew and she has no idea how to help him. When their friendship turns into something much more, Tori knows her heart is on the line but risks it anyway.
“I take her face in my hands. “God, that was f$#cking incredible, Sunshine. I’ll never get enough of you.” I give her a quick peck. “I love you.”
Both finally happy to be with each other, things seem to be going along fine until one night at the beach. A part of Brady’s secret is revealed and when he explains it to Tori who in turn is completely understanding and support, he freaks out, gets angry, shuts her out and runs;leaving Tori devastated and broken hearted. Falling into a depression Brady’s younger brother Tug is able to get through to her. Spending more and more time together, Tori realizes that she has feelings for Tug that are more than the “just friends” kind. Slowly they begin to explore those feelings. When Brady realizes the huge mistake he made by running away from Tori, he returns home only to find out he may be too late.
”What the f*@k is wrong with you? If she was your girl, you wouldn’t have just spilt on her like you did. You would have stayed here and worked it out. Worshipped her the way she deserves. Typical, Brady, f*@king typical.”
“I know that I f*@king love that girl, and I know you’re a f*@king a$$hole who doesn’t deserve her.”
“Did you even consider letting her go? Letting me have something for once? I f*@king hate you Brady!”
This story was AMAZING. I was sucked in from the very beginning.
Tori is a woman who is healing from a broken heart but she is also a woman who has denied her true feelings for the one she really loves. She is selfless, caring, smart, witty and a bit clumsy.
Her best friend Liv is hilarious, a bit boy crazy, nosy, fun and supportive. She knows that there is something between Tori and her brother; anyone can feel the chemistry they share between each other just by looking at them. Liv is supportive in her friend’s choices.
Then you have Tug. To me, Tug is nerdy sheik, extremely handsome but doesn’t flaunt it. He is humble but confident. He is a genius and is funny and he is very observant. I fell in LOVE with Tug, how can you not? I loved the flirtatious banter between him and Tori.
Brady, oh Brady. He is so tortured and so in love with Tori. So much so, that his ex-girlfriend tells him to go to her. Carrying a lot of secrets and lies that his parents hide Brady feels guilty and unworthy of being loved and yet he keeps it all inside so that his sister and brother are protected from the ugly truth. He is simply amazing- and the love notes on the tissue. PRICELESS!
This book has it all; heartache, friendship, jealousy, life lessons, suspense and most of all love. Oh and there is a WTF shocking moment when you're like- Did that bitch really just do that and say all of those things? WOW!
All I am going to day is be sure to grab a fan and some cold water because the sex scenes are HOT HOT HOT!
KJ Bell wrote a fantastic story. She knocked me off of my feet. I had one hell of a book hang over with this.
I look forward to more of Brady and the gang in future books.
This is an absolute MUST READ!!! Definitely one of my top books of 2013!
Please note that this review is also on my personal Goodreads page as well...
I really did have all sorts of mixed feelings regarding this book. I loved it to begin with, it confused me after i have passed half of it, it disappointed me two thirds in, and annoyed the hell out of me by the end.
It wasn't too obviously written, and that was my main reason for finishing it. There weren't flashing neon signs saying oooooh chica, watch out, this shit's bout to happen.
The story was an alright but i have to correct the blurb, it was so not about the two brothers at all, well maybe a bit in the end. I think that Harrison (the third guy) got more spotlight then Tug. And with all honesty he should have gotten all of it from the beginning.
Brady i hated with a burning passion of seven suns. I get that he had some shit happening in his life, but how big of a pussy was he??? He did nothing but cause trouble and run away when things became difficult.
Tori wasn't the brightest bulb on the boardwalk either. Trough all that has happened i just don't know how on earth do you live in someone else's house when you know they don't want you there????
There were a few elements to this story that were too far fetched and killed an additional star to this review.
This story left me uninspired, it was alright but nothing to gush about. I will forget it tomorrow. Would i recommend it? Sure, if you got time to kill and let your mind wander at the same time.
Let me start this review with how much I LOVED this book! What a great story of love, pain, friendship, healing and family. From the very beginning, author KJ Bell sucks you into the world of Victoria (Tori) Preston and Brady Hunter and a story so intense that at times you will be left breathless.
The story starts with Tori moving in with her BFFAA (Best Friends Forever and Always) Liv, who also happens to be Brady's younger sister. Tori's parents have moved to Minnesota and Tori decides that since Liv's house has practically been her house for the last five years, she might as well live with them now instead of moving somewhere she has no desire to be.
I truly loved this book it was confusing at times but i love the twists, you can not see them coming! Wanted more details on some thing that why I will give it 4 1/2 stars! Very well written and would recommend it too other! Worth the read!
“I couldn’t breathe when I was away from you, as though each breath was just enough to sustain me, but I was slowly dying. When I saw you again, I had a reason to breathe and then I messed up. I’m so sorry for everything I said to you on the pier, and for all the pain I’ve caused you. I swear I will never leave you again.”
Things are never really what they seem. From the outside looking in people might think your life is perfect. Loving parents, great brother and sisters but no-one really looks that closely. For everyone has secrets, secrets that are big enough to crumble the life you thought you knew.
Let me introduce you to Brady Hunter, with his dark hair and green eyes and the body of a god he is every women’s dream and he knows it. He has a rep for loving and leaving them. With his football career over due to an injury Brady is studying law. When his internship falls through, he reluctantly returns home for the summer. Back home where the love of his life Tori is currently living. Torn between keeping a promise to his ex- girlfriend, Vanessa he needs to tell Tori the truth about his feelings for her but he doesn’t feel worthy and the secret he carries is slowly tearing him apart.
Tori’s the girl I want to wake up to every morning and lie down with every night, but I can’t do it. I’ll hurt her eventually. She needs a “nice guy,” and that’s not me.

Humiliated and heart broken and betrayed she has sworn off men. Tori also denies the fact that she has been in love with Brady. Thank goodness for Tug, their younger brother, he makes the mood fun and the house an easier place to be, especially since she is stuck with Brady all summer.

“I love you, too. Thank you for picking up the pieces and gluing my heart back together. Without you, I would’ve been irreparably broken.”

Review
Wow where do I begin. This book had so much to it. The secrets, lies and love that are apart of these characters is amazing. I was totally excited to read this book after I read the synopsis. Love triangles are one of my favorites to read and then on top of that it’s between brothers, even better! I will say that once I read the book I thought of it less as a love triangle and more of a story of two people who love each other and the timing isn’t right. I literally laughed out loud while reading. The dynamic between this group of family and friends is so solid and loveable. I wanted to be a part of this group. There were some very intense moments. I would yell, and freak out like a crazy person because I couldn’t believe or handle what was going down. My husband thought I was hilarious on how I was reacting to this book.
“Once a man is broken, only love can pick up the pieces and glue him back together.”
Brady is a very intense, secretive guy. The whole book I’m wondering what is being held back by him. He was hot and cold all the time with Tori. I loved how he was written. Even though he held on to his secrets I never thought, “will he hurry up and share his secret already!” I enjoyed all the secrets. I was constantly trying to figure out what was up with him and I was totally wrong every time. Besides being mysterious, he was totally hot. Bad boy quota totally fulfilled. He had me hot and bothered on more than one occasion. When he was trying to be the bad guy mission accomplished but when he wanted to put his feelings out there, he was sweet with that too.
I swear I will never leave you again. There’s so much I need to tell you, but right now, I just want to be deep inside you. I want to hold you close, feel you against my skin and taste you in my mouth.”
Tori is a girl I’d like to hang with. I really enjoyed her character. She was strong but went through a lot of stuff to get there. She didn’t want to have the feelings she did but she did no matter how hard she tried. She was a good friend and a loyal person. I never thought that she was whinny. I just felt she had a lot to deal with and it was hard to figure out which way she should go. I could understand easily how she got into some situations and that made her so relatable.
Brady’s siblings are the best. I loved them! Liv, Brady’s younger sister and Tori’s BFFAA (Best friend forever and always) is absolutely loveable! She is the friend you’d be so lucky to have. Her and Tori had been born best friends since their moms were best friends growing up. They’re sisters in every way that matters. She’s wild and likes to party, but she loves her family and Tori. Tug is the younger brother to Brady and Liv, but he is a super smarty pants. His character, dare I say, is my favorite. He’s in and out of the story at the perfect times. He lightens up the mood and story line. He is so funny and also so loveable. Harrison, the friend of Tori, Liv and Brady fills the need for an outside character. He’s not a part of the family so he fills an outside perspective. I didn’t think much of him at first but he did grow on me and I was glad his character was there.
“Tug starts skipping around the room, waving a hand in the air as though he is lassoing something and smacking himself on the ass. “Whoo hoo! Slap my fanny and call me Red. I can’t believe she finally said yes!”
This book was so enjoyable to read. I’m so excited to know that there is going to be another book titled, Irreversible Damage, that is Tori and Brady’s story and Tug and Liv will also have their own books. I really recommend reading this book sooner than later because I loved it so much. It will have you guessing, screaming, laughing and even crying. A rollercoaster like that deserves to be read!!
I hate when I just stare at my screen watching the little blinking cursor, screaming at me to write something, write anything! So, here I am completely at a loss of words to express how I feel about this book. This is one of those books I call my friends about and the only words that come out of my mouth is, “Just read it! It’s seriously that good.” I don’t know what took K.J Bell so long to write a novel but, it’s about time. She writes a story that sucked me right in, kept me on the edge my seat and left me with a book hangover.
The writing in this story is so vivid that I didn’t need to fill in any blanks when trying to imagine what the scene would look like. Something as simple as, a piece of hair caught on the lip gloss of the character’s mouth, put me there in that moment. I could see everything hell, I could smell what the author was describing and that ladies and gentlemen is rare. With that kind of writing, events are more suspenseful, fights are more intense and the passion is amplified. This story evokes emotion, even if you cannot relate to any of the characters, K.J Bell makes you feel what they do.
If I break my promise to Vanessa, it will haunt me for the rest of my life, but hurting Tori again will fucking kill me. I won’t be the one to inflict my poison on her innocent world. I can’t risk popping the weasel.
This story is centered on Tori and Brady. Tori is fighting to heal a wounded ego, most people think that because her good for nothing ex got caught cheating on her, that is the reason she is broken hearted. Well, her heart wasn’t broken by Jake, it was broken by Brady. Brady wanted Tori to see what kind of man that Jake was. Instead of having a conversation with Tori, he takes matters into his own hands and sets the scene for her to find. Brady never meant to break Tori’s heart or shatter her trust, he wanted her for himself. After a year of not talking to each other, a failed internship, a promise and a need to spend time with friends to have fun slams the two together.
Since I saw his ultimatum coming from a mile away, I’m prepared. “I’d rather use barbed wire for toilet paper than go out with you, Tug.”
Let me just say right now this is one of those stories that you are going to want to rush through just to find out what the hell the big secret is. Trust me when I say you will never figure it out, and skipping to the last chapter is cheating, so don’t do it. Even though I wanted to rush through this story just to satisfy my curiosity, I wanted to slow down just to enjoy the characters personalities. Tug is absolutely adorable and has such a caring personality. The “I would rather” rather game that Tori and Tug play is really unique and a great distraction in this story. Liv is a good opposite for Tori, where Tori is more of an “I want to sulk in my misery”, Liv is the “Let’s drown our sorrows in dancing with hot guys” sort of girl. So the two together make an entertaining duo. Having Tug and Liv in the story added a lot of light to the darkness of Tori and Brady’s relationship.
“I want you to be happy and not feel like you have to look away every time our eyes meet, like they have for the last ten minutes. I want to be able to walk into a room without seeing your face fall, and mostly, I want to apologize.”
Aside from the amazing co-characters, I got to read about Tori and Brady. Both are in love with each other but neither one wants to admit to it. I do not want to go into too much detail about them and what they go through. I will tell you this though, when they do finally give in, IT’S HOT! Now as much as I love Tug, anyone who knows me will tell you if the guy is tattooed and/or pierced, I am soo there. Brady is most definitely that, and with his green eyes, holy hotness. Although, his stubbornness and need to keep everyone arm’s length because of his secrets, drives Tori to look at a different more stable suitor. Who she chooses? Well, you have to find out.
With our fingers intertwined, he raises our joined hands above our heads, holding them on the pillow. My head is buried between his arm and head. My back is arched and my ass is in the air, like a cat when it stretches.
For this being the first contemporary romance novel by K.J Bell, it was amazing. Her writng is unique, vivid and hypnotic. I loved every minute of this story and cannot wait to find out what she writes about next.
Wow! This author knows how to write an ending! Although I found this book to be a little slow at the start, towards the end, it took on a complete life of it’s own. With almost like a soap opera twist, I was completely addicted an on edge over the unexpected turn this story took!
I got in contact with K.J. Bell, desperately wanting to read this book, and she was kind enough to give me an ARC in exchange for a fair review, and I am so grateful that she did! There was just something honest about the way it was written, that made this book, and the characters really enjoyable, and likable. I would highly recommend it!
‘Once a man is broken, only love can pick up the pieces and glue him back together.’
I really liked Tori as a character, normally when I read books with love triangles, I find myself getting mad at the heroine, as I desperately want her to make a choice. However, I felt that everything that Tori did in this book was justified. She clearly loved Brady, and wanted to be with him, but someone can only be pushed away so much by a person before they have to pick themselves up, and try to be happy. Although she was clearly confused, I never thought that she was leading Tug on, or using him to replace Brady, he was just there for her when she needed him the most.
At times I did feel that Tori put up with a bit too much from Brady. He was so up and down with her, especially to begin with, when he was trying to stay away from her, but always seemed to lose control when he was around her. This inevitably led to him telling her that they couldn’t be together as he was messed up…and then doing the same thing all over again. However, instead of being pissed and hurt, like most people would be, Tori was nothing but understanding. She knew that Brady cared about her, and was prepared to give him the time to figure things out for himself.
I knew exactly the type of person Brady is, and, foolish as it may be, I want to weather the storm with him, figure him out, and possibly make him fall in love with me.
Brady is a bit of a tough one for me. Don’t get me wrong, overall I really liked him as a character, but there were points where he seriously frustrated me. Although it was always really obvious just how much he wanted to be with Tori, he was constantly messing her around, one minute kissing her, the next pushing her away. Even though he seemed to refuse to claim her as her boyfriend at this point, he was really possessive, not wanting her to be with anyone else but him, even though he has told her that he is messed up and not good for her.
At times I found Brady’s self deprecating nature a little bit annoying also. He was constantly putting himself down, and blaming himself for things that weren’t his fault, to the point that he was messing up his relationship with Tori. Although I felt complete sympathy for him, especially after I found out the true extent of the secrets, and lies he carried, I just wanted him to take action, especially when it came to his mother, and make his own life better ~ saying that, I can understand why he didn’t.
“…I’m toxic, like fucking poison, nothing instant, though – I’m slow and painful.”
Tug MADE this book for me! He was such a hilarious, genuine character, that I really wish he was real, as I just LOVED him! He never seemed down about anything, and was just so easy going, and happy, that it made me happy just to read the parts with him in it.
“…it was real ladylike when you farted that time during yoga with Liv in the living room. Nothing says ‘lady’ quite like releasing flatulence during the downward dog.”
Need I say more…haha!
His back and forth banter with Tori had me laughing out loud constantly, I mean, who doesn’t love a good “I’d rather” joke? Although there was obviously no real competition between him and Brady, I would have so liked him to end up with Tori at the end, just for the pure fact that I loved him, and thought that he deserved her. I am desperately hoping, and keeping my fingers crossed that Tug gets his own story, especially after it tells you what’s he doing at the end of the book, I have no doubt that it would be an awesome story!!
Although the blurb only really touches on the slight love triangle featured in this book, it has so much more than that. The secret between Brady and his parents, specifically his mother, really drives this story, and keeps it interesting. Although I suspected the secret about his father, the one about his mother was completely unexpected, and the drama that occurred following this being revealed was so amazing, that I could not put the book down!
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially towards the end. The characters, and banter between them, is what really made this story for me, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series, as if it’s anything like the first, I have no doubt it’s going to be awesome!

I have to say I had been anxiously awaiting the release of this book and was excited when KJ contacted us with a review request. I loved this book! The first thing I have to mention is the cover, I am a cover whore and this cover is beautiful. I loved the uniqueness of the cover because the author did not put every bare-chested man on the cover like we see on most books, but this cover has a special meaning and if you have read the book you will understand. Plus, there were two swoon-worthy guys in this story! 4 stars
Tori is the main heroine in this book and her heart is broken by Jake, her first and only love. He is a douche-bag cheater and she blames Brady, her best friends older brother, for setting up Jake's hook-up and making sure she knew he was a cheater. When Tori's family relocates due to her father's work she stays with her best friend Liv's family, because they are basically like her own family.....except for Brady of course whom although she is pissed at she has had a crush on Brady, for years. When Liv learns Brady will be home from College for the summer she is not to happy to have to share her new home with him after all he has done!
Enter Brady......sexy, mysterious, cocky....Brady’s decision to spend the summer at home has a lot to do with Tori and how he feels about her. Although, he feels bad for being the one to show Tori what a douche Jake is, he is not sorry because he is in love with Tori. Brady and Tori may have a ton of tension between them and when they decide to call a truce it turns to sexual tension. Just when things are looking up for these two as a couple, things get thrown at them that cause Brady to run. Tori runs right into the arms of Tug which is Brady and Liv's younger brother....he's funny, caring, a great friend, just the boy next door. Now what's a girl to do with two great guys to choose from? Then there are twist and turns and tragedy strikes that is just downright shocking and KJ Bell does a wonderful job at that aspect of the book being unpredictable.
"I love you, too. Thank you for picking up the pieces and gluing my heart back together. Without you, I would’ve been irreparably broken.”
I def recommend you read this book! Irreparably Broken is a suspenseful, emotional, heart-warming love story. Even though the triangle didn't play as big a part in the story as I thought it would, the element of surprise to the story was excellent. I’m excited to read Irreversible Damage, and the next books in this series!
