Little Miss Greedy loves to eat: She has 66 sausages and 23 pieces of toast for breakfast! And readers will love to see what she takes along with her when Mr. Greedy invites her to tea . . .
Roger Hargreaves was a British cartoonist, illustrator and writer of children's books. He created the Mr. Men series, Little Miss series and Timbuctoo series, intended for young readers. The simple and humorous stories, with bold, brightly coloured illustrations, have sales of more than 85 million copies worldwide in 20 languages.
This is all about just how much Little Miss Greedy likes to eat. I mean you can be greedy about a lot of things, but she is mostly greedy with food. She is related to Mr. Greedy and she is invited to his birthday party.
66 sausages is a lot of sausage for one meal and then she ate some pancakes. This girl can eat. I didn't think this had all that much to offer. It was rather shallow and I don't know that it added much to any conversation.
Little Miss Greedy likes eating. Before the book finishes, she will have eaten sixty-six sausages, twenty-three slides of toast and two huge, enormous, gigantic, colossal currant cakes with thick icing on top and strawberry jam in the middle.
Little Miss Greedy is a sweetheart and I have to admit that she reminds me one of my aunts.
Ah, Mr Men and Little Miss, how wonderful you are!
These books made up so much of my childhood. No matter what I would go ahead and pick one up. I worked my way through them all a couple of times. Each one has a wonderful story for the child to engage with, each character being fun to read.
Everyone has a bias for their favourite character, yet every book is delightful.
I absolutely loved these Mr Men and Little Miss books. I remember getting them from my granny every week. There was so much from these simple characters, I remember filling my little bookshelf with all these books making sure I had got them all in right order. I wish I still had these books but somehow most of them got lost with many house moves or my mum gave the rest away. If I ever have kids, I will make sure they get the chance to experience these wonderful, colourful books.
The 'Mr Men' and 'Little Miss' books are so simple yet so effective. I love the way that all the characters are linked and how characters pop up in other stories!
The books are great for encouraging young children to read because they are interesting, have a variety of simple language and are short enough that young children don't get bored! Children love collecting all the characters too.
Many of the Little Miss characters do have similar counterparts in the Mr Men series but this one is one that is exactly the same, and in the universe they are related. Little Miss Greedy is Mr Greedy in pretty much every way, Food galore her in a great little story of ridiculous proportions! Little Miss #23
This was one of my favourite Mr Men/Little Miss books growing up. My nostalgia goggles means of course I like this one. The youngest member of the household also found it hilarious.
I happen to have both the modern version of this book (Little Miss Greedy, 2012) from part of a set as well as the original version of this book (Little Miss Plump, 1981) that I grew up with. The changes made to this book are bizarre. I'm not sure why the name change was needed, or why Mr Greedy went from being a friend to a cousin. There are also seemingly arbitrary changes to sentences throughout.
It's entirely possible that many Mr Men and Little Miss stories have been updated but I just haven't noticed because I'm less familiar with the others.
quite on the fence about this - it's obviously nice to relate to someone who OMNOMNOMs but also if she can finish the sixty-six sausages and twenty-three slices of toast and twelve cups of tea then is she really *greedy*? since greed is associated with being selfish but she's just cooking for herself... and it's not like she's wasting food hm 🤔
Little miss greedy is greedy she had a cousin which was mr greedy. Mr greedy invited her to tea she ate 66 sausages, 23 toasts, and 12 cups of tea. She then baked a cake which it looked so delicious that she ate for breakfast and second one for lunch and the third one for her cousin mr greedy
I thought this might be a funny book but once I got it from the library, I noticed it had previously been called 'Little Miss Plump'. So the entire plot was just that this girl eats too much. This entire series is very odd now that I am re-reading as an adult.
