“I don’t know what you think I can give you, Katja.”
“Everything,” I whispered. “You can give me everything.”

Ruin You Completely takes place majority in Germany but a little in the U.S.

It’s the typical student-teacher taboo relationship where the student, upcoming piano prodigy Katja Schwartz, and broody instructor Mathias Sloan embark on a tumultuous off limits relationship…

“His thumbs brushed against my cheeks as he cradled my face. He looked me straight in the eye. I knew I was crossing that line he had made for us.
Teacher. Student.
Student. Teacher.
I hated that line more than anything. I wanted to obliterate it. Make it disappear. I wanted my heart to have what it wanted so much: him.”

EXCEPT!

Instead of one party being underage and the other being an adult--
Both are of consenting age…
(+) AND ironically start off their "relationship" under false pretenses. *cue the drama*

So with the lines already crossed, and secrets, lies, insecurities, time lapses, paving the way to the greatest transnational love ever existed…can these two broken individuals find salvation in each other? Or will they ruin each other completely and irrevocably?

So, my thoughts?:
This is actually my first Calia Mead read EVER and I really enjoyed it. Granted, I did feel a slight disconnection between Katja and Mathias as a couple at times…as well as felt the story was embroidered with a whole lot of angst, sexual tensions, succumbing your past and emotions, and Mathias being his own worst enemy....

“Mathias was an impossible puzzle. People met him and tried to put him together. A few pieces clicked in place, but when luck ran out and there were no more matches, the novelty started to fade. Soon they gave up, telling themselves that they’d come back. But they didn’t. I didn’t give up that easy, though.”

As a whole, I liked the whole Germanic setting with the cultural and language infusions, along with the story just itself. It was just catchy for me and made me want to read more.

All in all though, a great story!! Now all I have to do to get the FULL ENTIRE effect is to go and read the two precious Sloan brothers book novels!! Lol *Bring it on!!*

Until then readers!! I’m out!!

“We may have met through lust, but this was something different. Something better and stronger and altogether terrifying. It had the potential to cement our lives together.”

Now I thought I knew what I was getting with Calia Read's "Ruin You Completely" but how wrong was I? This was unlike any other teacher/ student romance I've ever read and actually, it was a refreshing change. This was not the kind of book that filled me with excitement with all the cloak and dagger secrecy surrounding a forbidden romance. Instead I read with a heavy heart and a fear of dread at what was to come. There was no sunshine and rainbows where Mathias and Katja were concerned, instead their relationship was full to the brim with pain, heart ache, sorrow and regret. God their story nearly damn well crushed me.

The prologue really did set the scene on how this book would unfold, giving us the ending before the beginning. It wasn't pretty.. not by a long shot and so I prepared myself for what lay ahead, knowing full well, it was more than likely going to devastate me. It did. This wasn't just a love story. It was a fight between right and wrong, a war between heart and mind, a brawl between the past and the future but mostly, it was a battle of wills and there would only be casualties on both sides.
I looked back on my time with Mathias Sloan as na experience- one that couldn't be dodged or ignored. He swept into my life like a hurricane, destroying everything in his wake.
If only the obstacles that lay in this couple's path were something so simple as the fact that Mathias was Katia's piano teacher... trust me that would have been easier to deal with compared to all the underlying issues that left this couple well and truly ruined. Page after page I prayed I'd see a glimmer of hope that something.... anything would change... that there was a HEA even if it was a million miles away but this author wasn't going to be so kind to her readers. Instead, her characters chose to rip my heart out, have a good kick around with it and leave it in the gutter to rot.
Mathias was an impossible puzzle. People met him and tried to put him together. A few pieces clicked in place, but when luck ran out and there were no more matches, the novelty started to fade. Soon they gave up, telling themselves that they’d come back. But they didn’t. I didn’t give up that easy, though.

Mathias' character was an enigma. Having not read the previous books in the series, I knew nothing about him and despite getting pretty much half way through his story, I was none the wiser. He was a closed book. What I did manage to decipher was that he was cynical about life and equally cynical about love and thus closed himself off from everyone. No one got in and he gave nothing away. He was one of those characters you knew was broken somehow and all I wanted to do was put him back together. And because of this, I found myself forgiving him for so much... what can I say, I'm a sucker for a tragically flawed character.

Katia on the other hand was an open book. She knew exactly what she wanted and wasn't afraid to say. I loved her strength and resilience and I absolutely loved the growth in her character over the course of this book.
"I don't know what you think I can give you, Katja."

"Everything," I whispered. "You can give me everything. I know it."

"Ruin You Completely" was set (for the most part) in Germany and Calia Read really made the setting feel authentic. The way the characters spoke, the imagery, Katja's studio... I could picture everything so clearly in my mind and it was perfect... different but perfect.

If you love teacher/ student romances, if you love a book that is fit to burst with sexual tension, that is angst ridden beyond belief, that will give your heart rate a thorough work out, then honestly, you can't go wrong with this third addition to the Sloan Brothers Series. Mathias and Katja's story was soul destroyingly brilliant and I rated it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Trying to seduce a Sloan was like taming a wild animal. It wasn't an east feat.
But if you finally got them to give up, they would give you everything they had.

Before Review:
This is my second book that I'm reading by Calia Read and I fell in love with her writing after reading Unravel; to be honest I never felt the same after reading it. I loved it but it also wrecked me and I had a hard time after that finding a really good book. So I really hope this one will wreck me too.

Oh My God! This book was the death of me. It's so good. Calia Read broke me. She is one stunning author who not only captivates you she also makes you feel what her characters are actually feeling. Going into this book I knew that I will love it, but I didn't know that it would be my newest obsession. anything that Calia Read writes I'll read because well she's spectacular.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I want you to tell me you've thought about me as much as I've thought about you.

Calia Read is just an outstanding author. I don't know why it took me this long to pick up another book of hers but knowing how she writes I will surely not think twice about not picking it up. The connection between the characters were phenomenal but the angst was incredible; truly my kind of book. It made me crazy with all the emotions at one point I loved it than the next second I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall. It's just something you can't put down.

I loved loved loved this book!! I literally had to read slowly because I didn't want it to end.Why did it take me so long to read this I don't know.

Mathias Sloane is a very talented pianist.Something terrible caused him to stop playing and therefore taking up a job to be an instructor to a family's friend grandaughter in Germany. As fate would put it,Mathias and his student Katja would meet and hook up at a night club.

Katja is a musical prodigy.Having playing the piano since she little, her dream is to make it as a career.Needing to work on her music and make her better, her grandfather Tobias enlists Mathias as her new instructor.Having pretending to be older than her actual age of 19,she meets Mathias and tries to seduce him.

Unbeknowest to her,Mathias is her instructor and that is a complete shock to their system.Deciding to keep things strictly proffessional, they ignore their feelings for each.Easier said than done.

 photo 14290208997791_zpsjvkmxjey.jpg

The sexual tension, the angst, the emotions were just off the charts in this book. You One minute you want to throttle someone and the next your skin breaks out in goosebumps because it made you FEEL.I love having that kind of experience when I'm reading.

Although this is the third book in the Sloan brothers series,It CAN be read as a standalone.I have not read the other books but the story held its own and you don't feel lost or like you're missing a big piece of the puzzle.

Everything that you want in love story this book has it.The reason why I didn't give this a 5 star was because of certain actions that some of the characters took led me to be frustrated a little.Other than that bump in the road,I really enjoyed it and I'm going to read the other books in the series just to get the full experience.

4 - 4.5 stars!!

“Because of him I learned that there’s a learning curve to love. Because of him I realized that there’s always that one person that destroys and sends you back into the world to fend for yourself. And it doesn’t matter how hard they hurt you. Whether you like it or not, the scars on your heart spell out their name.”

I absolutely fell in love with this author and this book!! This was my first book by Calia Read and it blew me away. Ruin You Completely is the story of Mathias who agrees to travel to Germany to become piano instructor to a nineteen year old rising star named Katja. I have not read any of the other books in this series, and for me, this story absolutely stood on its own. Matthias is the classic sexy, aloof bad-boy, but he and Katja have a bond that is built up slowly through this book. I loved reading about the world of piano and music. But the author also brings out the steam factor in a big way, and these two must struggle to keep their feelings on a professional level in light of their student-teacher relationship.

“His skin was smooth and hot. Mathias jumped. I jerked my hand back, realizing too late what I’d done. When we touched, it was never good. He was the match. I was the fire. We both went up in flames.”

Katja and Matthias belong together but they are both too stubborn to act on their feelings. Their timing is terrible and my heart broke for them and for the ones around them that would inevitably get hurt by their behavior. This story is told in alternating POV’s which worked perfectly here. From the German settings, to the story, to the characters and the plot, I loved everything about this book! I adored Katja and how she grew and changed after she met Mathias.

“But since I met Mathias, I stopped caring. Stopped questioning. And I loved it. He showed me that sanity is safe. Boring. And madness was unpredictable. Beautiful. Of course I would snatch the chance to spend time with him."

(The only thing that kept this from being a 5-star read for me was a minor inconsistency in the story, that in no way detracted from my enjoyment of this fantastic book!)

I loved the ending of this book and I can’t wait to read more books by this author!

This was on the top of my list for highly anticipated books in 2015 and it ended up just being an okay read for me. I felt no love connection between Mathias & Katja. They definitely had a sexual attraction. The story had too much angst and took Mathias way too long to realize his love for Katia.

Trying to seduce a Sloan was like taming a wild animal. It wasn't an easy feat. But if you finally got them to give up, they would give you everything they had.

Mathias Sloan's passion for life has been gone for awhile and he is just going through the motions. When an opportunity to teach piano to a student in Germany comes up, he begrudgingly takes it. But now he is finding a spark again in the presence of his new student, Katja. Unfortunately she is supposed to be off limits. An instant spark gets doused by their teacher/student relationship, but their verbal sparring only succeeds in igniting them and further fueling the fire.

But to avoid the situation Mathias does his best to be a controlled, professional teacher. But comes off as more broody, angry, mysterious, and frustrated. He is great at giving mixed signals and he has to work at maintaining his control around her.

Katja is usually the good girl, rule follower and devoted to her piano. The one time she tried to walk a bit on the wild side, it backfired. And even though Mathias has much to teach her about her craft, he is also equally distracting. But she is also strong and opinionated and Mathias tends to bring out her inner fire.

She fascinated the hell out of me. Most people backed down and cowered around me, but she stood up to me. A fire ignited in her eyes, and I realized that she was the only female that had ever stood toe to toe against me.

Their interactions are intense....feel-the-tension-in-the-air-all-the-time intense. The sexual tension and underlying need between these two just simmers and boils. There are also little sweet moments where it was easy to see that they could be good together if ever really given a fighting chance.

"The problem is that sometimes opposites don't attract. Sometimes people are so different, that instead of complementing each other they ruin one another."

Mathias has up huge walls and is a master of pushing her away. He is excellent at sabotaging things before he can get too involved or feel anything. They fuss, fight, deny, hurt each other, then separate, long for, and wish they had done things differently. She becomes a more jaded, and fearful person once she experiences how easy it is to be broken. At any given moment it seemed like one of them was trying to move forward while the other one was retreating. There were times I wanted to throttle both of them or at least lock them in a room together. He was slowly ruining Katja, just as she was ruining him when they were together, but distance did not help either. They had a connection and chemistry that could not be forgotten or tamed despite time, distance, or distractions. They both had such trouble expressing themselves, admitting the truth and realizing what they really needed.

I looked back on my time with Mathias Sloan as an experience--one that couldn't be dodged or ignored. He swept into my life like a hurricane, destroying everything in his wake.

This story spans time and two continents and is told in both points of view. Mathias has his own personal baggage to work through, but will he figure it out in time or will he end up losing her to someone safer and less likely to ruin her?

This was an angsty story of a love that was volatile, passionate, scary, and all consuming. Katja deserved love and happiness and Mathias understood that. The problem was he never thought he was good enough or could ever give her all she needed...his heart. He was definitely another stubborn Sloan brother and even more emotionally stunted than his brother Macsen. His history and disappointments in his life had done such a number on him. He was a master of denial and a complete flight risk. He was definitely a tortured hero. But I came to really like Mathias the more I got to see his inner layers and I was rooting for him to get his act together.

Speaking of Macsen, we got to visit a bit with him and Emilia(Breaking the Wrong), and also Thayer and Severine(Every Which Way). We also met the German grandparents of the brothers' and Katja. And Katja's friends Simone and Lukas were a big part of this story as well.

Through the story we saw both characters grow, change, and come into their own. It was painful, complicated, emotional, and difficult. But ultimately they had to decide if what they had together could be tamed into something healthy and fulfilling instead of destructive and toxic. It was definitely not an easy journey for either of them.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

After having read the previous two books in the series, I wasn't sure what to expect from oldest Sloan brother, Mathias. When we met Mathias in the previous books in the series, he was always a bit standoffish, but with RUIN YOU COMPLETELY we finally get the story behind Mathias and why he's the way he is.

Hired by his grandparents friend to be their granddaughter's piano instructor, Mathias finds himself in Germany trying to get Katja ready for competition while fighting his growing attraction to her. At the same time, Katja fights the same fight...something that's been building since the day they meet. But Mathias fights his past and those ghosts cause him to push away the one thing that truly makes him happy.

Mathias was quite complex and not at all what I was expecting. He was trying to figure out how to move forward each day when the one thing he loved had been ripped away from his life. It wasn't until Katja, that he started to feel again. Of course, that brought along a whole set of other issues...considering she was his student.

Despite the age difference, the circumstances of how they met and the emotional issues they had, I liked Mathias and Katja together. She gave him hope, even when he didn't want to see it. And he, despite what he may have done, showed Katja how to love. Theirs isn't an easy romance and their path to HEA is very happy, but they found a way to fight old demons and make their relationship work.

Mathias’ story. I had been desperately waiting for this. He completely entranced me from his first appearance in Every Which Way. It was easy to see that the man we met in those few scenes was deeply tortured and in desperate need of salvation.
Mathias is my favorite of the brothers. His desperate love of music and need for control in everything he did was easily relatable to me. He further called to my soul with the deep and far-reaching pain he so beautifully carried with him. It was evident from the beginning there was so much more to Mathias than just the gruff exterior he projected to the world.
Katja grew on me. As much as we know about her, I still think there is a lot more that we didn’t get to see from her. I deeply appreciated her passion for music and in knowing that aspect of her I knew she was a perfect match for Mathias’ desperation. I felt like we were just scratching the surface with her, though. Someone who pours so much of themselves into one thing has to have so many more layers, more than could possibly be fleshed out in one book.
The timeline for Ruin You Completely was much longer than those of Every Which Way and Breaking the Wrong; thankfully it was written in such a way that it didn’t feel that way. There was so much tension and buildup, by the time that I got about halfway through the book I was so wound up in the Mathias/Katja drama I couldn’t dream of putting the book down. I needed some relief. Needed a moment of weakness. They were few and far between, which made me all the more interested in seeing if they would both get the resolution they deserved.
With each installment in the Sloan Brothers series, the stories grew; they graduated from college romances to something more redemptive, something that gave hope to even the most broken of souls. Every Which Way started pulling back the blinds on the darkness of the brothers’ relationships and their very damaging pasts. Breaking the Wrong laid much of that past bare. Ruin You Completely added another dimension to the past and left me needing to know more about the brothers, their pasts, and the glimpse of happiness they were starting to find. Each boy may have found love, but they all still have a long road to find a way to be free from the darkness surrounding them.

Ruin You Completely was a good student / teacher romance. I really enjoyed that it had a different feel to it. I liked that it didn’t take place in a classroom or school seting but between Mathias Sloan, an American piano tacher and his 19 years old German student, Katja Schwartz.

A chance meting in a club leads to a heated attraction, both not knowing who the other is. The following day when piano lessons start the attraction is still there but it is clear that this is a relationship that needs to remain strictly platonic. This leads to a whole lot of angst and sexual tension. Throw in Mathias’ mysterious past and the angst moves up a knotch.

This was the first book I read in the Sloan Brothers series even though it is the third to be released. Both Severine and Macsen, from the previous books make an appearance and while I don’t think you neccesarily need to read each book in order, I think it would have helped me better understand the family dymamic.

Overall I enjoyed Mathias and Katja story. Mathias definitely has issues and it took him some time to finally man up and go after the girl. This time span did lead to a little frustrion on my part but ultimatly it had a very satisfying ending ☺

Ruin You Completely is the third book in the Sloan Brothers series by Calia Read.  We finally get Mathias's story.  In the first two books we received glimpses and teases of Mathias just enough to know there would be an epic story behind the moody, broody brother.  I, for one, could not wait.  I'm always gravitating to the bad boy, the loner, the outcast, what ever you want to call them.  They're the guys in the book that exude the killer vibe.  Stay away and whatever you do, don't try to talk to them.  I love those characters.  For as much as they want you to stay away, their personalities scream "look at me" and all those emotions they try to hide are blatantly obvious in their gruff exteriors.

I was captivated by Mathias.  He's exactly what I wanted, all brood and scowl.  Don't get too close because I ruin all that I touch.  That was the underlying theme, after all.  However, you quickly realize that the hard exterior is just a shell to a small broken boy.  I found that my standoffish Mathias really wasn't nearly as complex as I had hoped.  For all the hype, I found myself disinterested and disappointed in his story.

Katja is Mathias's piano student.  She comes across as sheltered and naive the perfect victim for someone like Mathias.  At first it was the perfect storm.  Angsty male versus young and naive female.  Just what the doctor had ordered.  Can she save him from himself while he teaches her to blossom into a full fledged woman?  Again the makings for a great, even epic romance.  The story does indeed start out that way.  They meet under fictitious circumstances.  He's enamored and she's just having fun.  When the two discover they are actually teacher and student I was excited.  This was a perfect time for the push and pull, the torturous flirting, the wanting what we can't have.  EPIC delicious tease to the point where the sexual tension is palpable on the pages.  But it wasn't and it didn't.  For me it all just fizzled out.

I think my biggest concern for this story is the inconsistency.  As an ARC reader, I expect to receive a story that is almost complete.  I don't expect perfection.  The author needs to have another good look over, maybe catch that stray spelling error or fix some formatting.  These books are readable meaning the typos won't take away from the story.  However, in Ruin You Completely, I kept getting stuck on the sentence structure and inconsistencies.

I am not a writer.  I have enormous respect for those who do.  The time, energy, thought, and perseverance is amazing to me and I have mad respect.  I'm just looking at this from a reader's stand point.  I need fluidity.  There are many inconsistencies in the book that had me going back over and over again to see if I'd comprehended something wrong.  After the first few times, I was honestly ready to give up.  And really it distracts from the heart of the story.  For example, a dinner date is made with a group for the next night, and then the next day there is a big scene between Mathias and Katja where he convinces her to go out on a dinner date again.

I would say overall this is a mediocre read.  I would have liked more bang for my buck.  I didn't think Mathias' back story was enough for him to be as moody and broody as he was.  There certainly was no closure to those events.  It could have been so much more and I wanted more.  I wanted to cry for Mathias.  I wanted to weep for the little boy he once was.  I wanted Katja to be the one that saved him from himself, or from her it wouldn't have mattered.  This one just didn't live up to my expectations.

**While I highly recommend reading the first two books, you don’t have in order to enjoy this one. It is considered a standalone. **

I first fell in love with Mathias Sloan over two years ago while reading the first two Sloan Brothers. He was the secretive and charismatic older brother I wanted desperately to know all about. You know the saying, “Careful what you wish for.” In this installment, Mathias is revealed in all his complicated and heartbreaking glory. The Prologue is riveting; I was completely sucked into the storyline from the beginning.

We had our chance.
We had our time.
We were over.

The book unfolds with alternating POVS of Mathias and Katja. After a chance encounter in a bar, Mathias soon learns that Katja is his new student. He has traveled to Germany to guide her in piano as she prepares to launch her career. The angst between these two is unbearable at times. Mathias refuses to cross the line between student and instructor. Katja longs to feel real passion in her music. Would they be able to resist their relentless attraction to one another? What would happen if they did give in to their attraction?

I knew he was my addiction. And like every addiction I couldn’t pull away after one hit.

Most of the book takes place in Garmisch, Germany and the descriptions are mesmerizing. It is obvious Ms. Read has intimate knowledge of the area. I truly felt as if I were visiting all the tourist locations, as well as the local spots. It was easy to imagine all the places Mathias and Katja visited. There is an endless supply of German vocabulary words too. I truly felt immersed in the culture and people.

At times, I felt a disconnect to Mathias. Despite having his POV, I still felt as if pieces of his inner dialogue are missing. He remains guarded and aloof at times. I wanted more passion from this closed off man, who pours his heart and soul into the piano. I felt a true connection with Katja and really liked her character. She continues to grow and develop throughout the entire story.

Here’s the girl you left… And now you have to watch her shine.

Being a huge fan of The Sloan Brothers, I was thrilled to see little glimpses of Thayer and Macsen. Selfishly, I wanted more. However, I will happily take whatever I can. I also wanted a little more of an Epilogue. I do not need a drawn out ending, but I still have so many questions. Overall, I was thrilled to once again be with the Sloan Brothers!

Ruin You Completely has left me just in a stage of, “I just can’t pick up another book at the moment.” It completely grabbed me by the heart within the first few pages and did not let go. I’m at the point of suffering such a huge hangover that I have to have a somewhat large magazine break.

Ruin You Completely is part of a series but in all honesty can definitely be read as a standalone. I have read the other books and all I knew what that there was a huge backstory to Mathias. He is the oldest of the Sloan brothers and was always such a mystery.

Mathias is asked to teach piano lessons in Germany for six months to a family friend’s daughter. This daughter, Katja is nineteen years old and is very talented but her grandfather wants the best teacher for her to achieve amazing success and knows that Mathias is that person.

On his first night in Germany he meets up with a friend at a bar. While drinking he meets this beautiful girl named Olivia and shares a few dances with her. Of course she goes back to his place and they hook-up as a one-night stand. Under the shadow of a new day, when Mathias goes to meet his student he realizes that it’s actually his one-night stand Olivia but her name is really Katja. During the next six months lines are blurred and the boundaries of their working relationship are crossed.

Mathias was such a mystery for me. He has long-since given up playing and the reader doesn’t know why. Mathias is also a very gruff man and does not say very much. Most of his feelings are displayed through his actions. But once he does finally give in he is all in.

Katja is the complete opposite. It seems she almost wears her heart on her sleeve. Yes, she is a bit younger than Mathias but I don’t think he is correct when he says that she is naïve. I think she is a bit more mature than most at her age. I also think she’s incredibly strong for moving on and along with her life.

I don’t want to give too much away of this story…there is so much feeling that goes along with reading it. There were times that my heart actually hurt from what both characters were going through emotionally. At about 50% I had to put it down for a breather because it was that intense. But in all honestly I wouldn’t have had it any other way. This book literally ruined me at the moment for other books. I never do rereads back to back and that’s exactly what I’m doing right now.

This author has gone and brought to life three delicious brothers, who with each of them have their own story to tell. In this one she brings you Mathias whom having met him periodically in the previous novels becomes loud and clear in this one. What was eluded to at the family gathering you get the inside scoop in what was going on. He has a secret too that makes for a more intriguing read then the other two. Being approached to take on tutoring a rising name in piano he agrees and off to Germany he goes. Little did Olivia know when she is on what is teasingly referred to as her last night of freedom for a while would she meet someone who would change her forever. His life is a bit different being he is not in school like his brothers with also him making a promise that will be impossible to keep. Having burning desires also within him left unfulfilled is another reason to the almost like torture he will put himself in a position never thought he would travel again. This author sure knows how to hook and bait a reader with this one having the best for last. The feeling and emotion that will go on between these two will have you hanging on as she is sculptured to win. As a reader you will really want this brother to find the love he has missing from his life and that not being just what he had to give up. Love will also change them both with a battle of wills that will be also sweet agony for them and the reader. When they have their time apart you just want to shake them both to their senses shouting at them not to let each other go. Then when she steps into his world on his turf you swipe you brow saying finally now maybe just maybe. Love is very evident with these two but stubbornness can be a person's hardest battle to overcome. A glorious battle is just what this author will give you when Mathias shows Olivia just how serious he is with you finally sighing saying it is about time. So this author sure can take three brothers turn their lives inside out for some of the most delightful and delicious reading in a long time. Received a arc for a honest review.

Calia read

This was my second Calia Read story but my first introduction to the Sloan Brothers. Let’s just say I will be reading the other two very, very soon.
Calia Read has no problem drawing a reader into the story. In RUIN YOU COMPLETELY, she used the romantic setting of music (specifically piano, my favorite instrument, and Germany. Europe always gets me and sets you up for falling in love).
Mathias Sloan… I don’t know much about his brothers Macsen and Thayer but damn if the genetics run deep in that family. Mathias is a raw, no nonsense presence. He’s a brooder but in the sexiest of ways. I love his back story—which you don’t get the full details until near the end. And I tell ya, I kept reading and reading until my questions were finally answered. The anticipation was fabulous and I didn’t think that Calia Read extended or delayed too much at all.
Katja… love this name is a spitfire. I loved her cheekiness and her naivety. These qualities didn’t make her appear too young or inexperienced. It made her hopeful, strong and passionate. I loved that she would stand up to Mathias even when her resolve was breaking down.
The chemistry between Mathias and Katja was electric. The back and forth denying their true feelings gave me whiplash and made me want to throw my reader. I would be screaming at one of them to just eat their humble pie and give in to their feelings. If these characters were real, I’d shake them silly.
The timeline of the story is well paced and I love that it didn’t happen over a matter of a few days rather it was over a couple of years. This made it much more real and relatable.
As I said this was my second book of Calia Read’s and it definitely won’t be my last.

This was my first Sloan Brothers Book to read, and I went and immediately got the other two books in the series!

Mathias Sloan was headed for greatness until an accident took away his dreams and ambitions. He walked away from the world of music.

So when he is approached to teach a prodigy who just needs a little push in is grandparents hometown, Garmish, Germany. He needs a little motivation to take the job.

With his emotions on high the night before starting his 6 month teaching gig, he heads out to a club and meets Olivia. She says she's 24 but he has his doubts. She just may be what he needs to take the edge off of his nerves...But before anything can happen, her friend comes in and snatches her away.

The next day, he shows up at his new job, only to find that his student is Olivia...but her name is not Olivia and she's not 24 but 19!

This book was so full of emotion and electricity. Mathias and Katja are pure magic and their connection soars.

Definitely a great read. I didn't want the book to end!

Not sure why I rated the other books so low, but I just loved this one! I must have been half crazy when I rated the others. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wasn't blown away. I was left with some disappointment, a desire to know more of the coupling after they finally set pride aside.

Please tell me this isn't the end... I'm desperate to know more about the Sloan Brother's coupling and family dynamics... Will they be able to push beyond the past?

I didn't favor this one as much as the other two. There was a whole lot of angst and not enough feel-good stuff going on. Kinda sucked a lot of the enjoyment from the book. Feel so bad for Lukas. Poor guy should of gotten the girl, sweetheart that he is.

4.5 stars Really enjoyed this one but the ending was suddenly sprung on the reader. Bam! it's over. Also, it has been too long between books for this reader to remember Macsen and Mathias' conflict.
