WHERE THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY!

Emma has a secret. A power she cannot control.

Emma started her first day of senior year. The only new guy in school catches the eye of all, including hers. He has a single target though. Emma.
She stopped frozen in her step the moment she saw him walking with the gaggle of cheer girls behind him. A staring contest and feelings she cannot explain twist into something unnatural. Emma breaks the semi-standoff with this stranger, but something happened in that moment. Something dangerously close to magical like the strange powers hidden inside her meant only to be seen in fairy tales.

Ames Cahn is not good. He has a past.

A dark past that is not natural. But is it darker than Emma can handle? On one hand he does not care, he has to have her. On the other, can he taint something so pure and good even if she could not help her heritage? But the king wants her which makes her untouchable and not to be tampered with.

Essentially alone in this world, Emma does not know her real parents. Her birth is a mystery and this guy says he knows the answers to all her questions. Will she turn away from destiny?

Caught between two very different worlds, Emma must make a choice that is not easy. When she faces finality of the truth, she is confronted with the fear that even Ames cannot save her from a fate worse than death.

Denial is a Romantic Young Adult Fantasy, but with goblins!

Emma knows that she is different, something not quite human. Apart from being adopted she has intense blue eyes that seem to glow and when she gets angry she can do things, like make things explode. RIght now Emma would just like to get through her senior year of high school, but with the arrival of gorgeous and cocky Ames Cahn, Emma just can't help but feeling drawn to him and repulsed by him at the same time. Ames has the same kind of glowing eyes as her, as seems to have some sort of impact on her emotional state. He also has some dark secrets and knows a lot more about her than about herself.

Denial is a different kind of fantasy, although in the same vein as Twilight. The point of view switches between Emma's and Ames' point of view. In the very beginning this is a little annoying since Emma and Ames recount the exact same scene, but with their own emotions. After the first few chapters, this aspect improves greatly and each point of view actually moves the story along and is needed to see things from different places. Emma and Ames relationship is a little frustrating, but it is supposed to be that way; the entire book they are denying each other their true feelings and continuously pissing each other off even though they are drawn to each other with intense passion. I really did like the idea of goblins in a book and the way that they were portrayed. We started to learn a little bit of the goblin history in Denial and I hope to learn more in the subsequant books.

HAMRONY'S THOUGHTS

This is an excellent story, and a brilliant idea. I love that this is a take on paranormal that has not yet been done to death; focusing on Goblins rather than the way over done Vampires or Werewolves. Each chapter flips back and forth between the two main protagonsists: Emma and Ames - moving the story along via each perspective in turn. This book is aimed at the YA market, and I feel it hits this just right.

I have given four stars instead of five, because this book has some editing and proofing issues. Once these are addressed I would give this a resounding five stars. Cyndi Goodgame is certainly an writer to take note of. I would highly recommend this author.

Early reader for this first book in the Goblin series.

First, I like that the story hasn't been done. Goblins are widespread yet and that made the storyline new and great to challenge your mysterious side.

I liked the alternating POV's in this book. At first it repeats what each see from Emma's eyes and then Ames', but that made it that much better. Part 2 changes a little in that the story just continues on. The reader gets a good grasp on the set up and then it just jumps right into the plot nonstop.

Liked the quote in the book about being normal not always the same for everyone. We all define it in our own way. Normal is boring!

Last, I like the kiss part. It's just great. We all look for our own favorite kisses in books and movies. Well, this one changes the course of history for these two people.

Emma and Ames both have it bad for each other. The book starts out mysterious but comes to light. I liked the switching views. This series is different than Goodgame's others, but I like it. The goblins angle was new.
I liked the kiss part the best. Anxious to see what it means in the end.

I haven't read a book about goblins till now, but I loved it. Ames was exactly like I wanted. Emma has powers, but Ames is just swoon worthy. I have heard of several other goblin series and will give them a try after I finish this one.

I am glad there is a book that centers around goblins instead of vampires. That is why I read it. The book opens with switching roles and seen from both eyes, but starts to move quickly in part two. I wasn't sure at first about the beginning, but it picks up fast and stays with you.
