This continues to be a strong crossover thanks to its premiere team-up of all the VH1 heroes and its unique, nonlinear storytelling.
With that sad, this second volume is a bit weaker than the first. The introductions of X-O, Shadowman, Rai, and the Harbingers aren't quite as thrilling as the intros in the first book because they're more repetitive. Still, there's some amazing stuff in here like the fall of Japan and the revelations in Harbinger — all of which would have massive impacts on their own comics after Unity. I also loved the fact that X-O and the Harbingers are working toward their own goals, not taking fully part in some superhero team-up. This type of individualization is another thing that makes this crossover very different from the canned affairs that we get year after year from DC and Marvel.
The highlight of the volume was probably the finale in Solar, which does a great job of telling the rest of the story of Erica (and of Solar's assault on her fortress), all of which nicely ties together the stories we've seen to date.
