Danial Thames spends every free moment loitering in the public library, amusing himself with idle posturings and daydreams. Thrown off balance by an encounter with a young writer who takes him to be a talented author as well, Thames begins to grow unsettled with his view of the world and uncertain of his desired place in it.
Pablo D'Stair is a novelist, filmmaker, essayist, interviewer, comic book artist, and independent publisher. His work has appeared in various mediums for the past 15 years, often pseudonymously.
I just couldn't get into this. It was a freebie on my kindle, and the premise sounded intriguing....but I just couldn't bring myself to care about what was going on. Stylistically, it was bothersome for me. Strings of sentences had no subject....they were descriptions of what the main character was doing or thinking, but the lack of a subject made for choppy and disjointed reading. Also, the part I waded through takes place in a library, and the character kept picking up random books, which was followed by strange, disjointed excerpts from said books. Was there a point to this plot device? Or simply a way to make the manuscript longer? I'm not sure. The story didn't seem to be going anywhere, and after only about 30-some pages, I couldn't take any more. This one goes on my very small list of "Did Not Finish"--I rarely abandon a book, but there are just SO many that I WANT to read right now!
