This isn’t really going to be a review. It’s moreso an excuse to gush about this series again to you. BEYOND DENIAL is the free short from Kit Rocha which originated as a bribe for readers to vote for them for DABWAHA. In this shameless competition, the best books of 2012 battle it out and voila, this little short was gifted to readers as a reward. Now this is a deleted scene from the O’Kane party in BEYOND CONTROL. So if you haven’t read it yet, then SHAME ON YOU! But really, it may not hold any meaning to you unless you know the context in which it originated from. Hence the reason I’m telling you to read this series!!
I didn’t know that it would be about my lover, Ace but I was thrilled about it and even more so when Jared gets involved. I may have gotten too excited but hey, that’s what a good series does to you.
If you like your erotic romance well-written, with a slew of bad boys to fulfill your needs, you need to be reading the Beyond series. And when you’re done with them and pining for more, you can come see me and we’ll fight over which O’Kane guy is hottest.

Very quick and erotic read available on the authors' website! Very steamy sexy times with Ace and Jared, with insight to Ace's feelings for Rachel. Jared is another character I want more of after reading this bit.

3.5 Smutty Stars
I can't really say much about this short little scene other than that it's hot and a bit of kinky backstory to one of my favourite characters in Sector Four, Ace.
It's incredibly short and it doesn't add much to the overall storyline of the series, I'm not surprised it was omitted from BEYOND CONTROL, however I also enjoy that it was released afterwards because as mentioned it's steamy.

Holy smokes! Guys. GUYS. If you aren't reading this series you are missing out on some frighteningly complex characters. This scene perfectly illustrates how wonderful and dark and deep these guys can be. We get longing and lust, guy on guy touching (and beyond), and some unintentional voyeurism that is downright HOT. The beautiful thing is that it's just a fraction of what you'll find in the full-length novels.
If you want to give the books a whirl but aren't sure if they're for you... here you go. You might not get all the nuances of why the party is being held (book 2 has the answers to that) but you can see how magnificently sexy the men in this world are. And how tangled up they are when their emotions come into play.

Beyond Denial consists of just 15 pages, seeing as it’s actually a deleted scene from Beyond Control (so make sure to read that one first). Since each book focuses on a different couple, I was anticipating a book between Ace and Rachel, but this deleted scene is actually between Ace and Jared. And they aren’t having a chat.
I’m growing to appreciate the openness of sexuality in these stories. The things that go on may seem a little extreme and crazy but I find the general absence of labels, shame, and taboos that we constantly deal with in society to be quite refreshing. I wasn’t sure if I’d be continuing these stories because they’re really not my thing… but they’ve got their hooks in me.

If you're a fan of Kit Rocha's erotic dystopian series you're going to love this short freebie staring Ace and Jared. If you haven't discovered the series yet then you really don't know what you're missing - these books are scorching hot, full of sexy, leather clad, tattoo covered alpha guys who will make you swoon. I think you could probably read Beyond Denial even if you haven't read the earlier books without picking up spoilers but be warned that you won't get much of a look at the detailed world Kit Rocha has created because this is just a very small, sexy snippet. You also won't be as invested in the characters because you won't know their history but I think it will still give you an idea of how hot this series is and let you see the author's writing style.
I've been half in love with Ace ever since he tattooed Noelle in Beyond Shame and although he's only been a side character so far I've always had a strong suspicion that he's going to be my favourite member of the O'Kanes. Beyond Denial has just increased that feeling and I'm now dying to get my hands on his book! Ace is sexy as hell and I have no idea how Rachel has managed to resist him so far, I'll tell you right now if I'd stumbled across this scene with him and Jared there is no way I wouldn't have joined in! This has also increased my curiosity about Jared, we've seen him on the sidelines because Dallas thinks he would be a worthy member of the gang with his ties to the housewives of Eden but this story shows us a deeper side to him and left me wanting to see more. I'm looking forward to Bren's story in Beyond Pain but I'm desperate for more of Ace, Rachel and Cruz in Beyond Jealousy.

A short, super quick read. Interested to see how some of it plays out in the rest of the series.
A couple of lines I liked:
Rachel’s homebrew always went down smooth and delicious, and inevitably led him to wonder if she’d go down the same way.
..."Jas could beat chivalry into a brick.”
... Ignoring his own troubles to get his friend good and laid wasn’t cowardly. It was fucking noble. Martyrish, even. That was him. The god damned saint of sinners.

Reading Beyond Denial made me realize that the second book of the series, Beyond Control, was not on my wishlist. You can bet I fixed that immediately upon finished Beyond Denial.

This is a deleted scene from Beyond Control – it features Ace, Jared and Rachel, and takes place during the O’Kane party thrown for the sector 3 recruits.
Ace is at the party with his friend, Jared, and is mooning over Rachel.
“I like the way you look at her. You’d fall head first into making her scream, and drag the rest of the world along with you.”
Wanting to help his friend take his mind off things, the two of them sneak off for a bit of ‘alone’ time, where they proceed to get hot and heavy.
“He wanted to feel what the women under him always did, the careless bliss that came when someone else had taken over.”
It’s short, but wow, it’s smutty. But what I loved about it was seeing how intense Ace’s feelings are for Rachel, and watching their interactions (however brief). Holy UST! I love Ace, and I can’t wait for these two to stop playing games and finally hook up! Although there were some interesting developments with Ace in the last book, so I'm curious as to how their story will unfold. Bring on book 3!!!

I love this series. It's big and bold and pushes the envelope when it comes to sex and relationships, and this deleted scene from Beyond Control was a great addendum to what we already know about this world. There's tidbits regarding how the O'Kane gang views their life and each other in this scene. It was great to have a bit more info to add to what we already know about Ace and Rachel. Very much looking forward to Ace's book. He's probably my second favorite male character in this series.

I have read a few books with male/male scenes and they have been great. However, this is HOT!! Loved this little look into Ace and Jared! Very much loving the entire series, now just need to wait for the rest of them to come out!
