Tim Shoemaker is a speaker and author of eight books, including Dangerous Devotions for Guys; Smashed Tomatoes, Bottle Rockets, and Other Outdoor Devotionals; and Mashed Potatoes, Paint Balls, and Other Indoor/Outdoor Devotionals. He has three grown sons and has been happily married for over 32 years. His debut into the juvenile fiction market draws from his experience with kids as a volunteer youth leader for more than sixteen years.

I have three of Shoemaker's family devotional resource books, and I have the same opinion about all of them: they're great.

I got to talk with Tim Shoemaker at a conference in which he was one of the presenters. His presentation is what convinced me to buy all of the resources he had available that day, which included this one. Tim demonstrated many attention-grabbing object lessons, and I've used many of them both with my family and as I lead Bible studies at church.

My only critique is how the material is organized. I found that whenever I wanted to choose a devotional out of this book, I'd have to skim pretty much every chapter in order to find one that I could do. Some of the lessons require advanced planning. Some require purchasing specific items. Some can pretty much be done just by picking up the book and jumping right into the devotional. If the book was organized in such a way that it made clear (maybe in an index or table of contents) what kind of resources were needed for each lesson, it would be immensely more user-friendly.

Even still, they are great resources and I highly recommend them!
