Exposing Kitty Langley

Rate this book
A Charity Series Novella, or a Stand-alone

For almost four years, Kitty Langley has been part of a ‘mean girls’ group called the Bee Hives, the most hated and feared girls at West Windrake High. That is until she witnesses their relentless attack on her former childhood friend. Making a drastic decision, she takes a stand against the dreaded B’s and thus becomes their new enemy and number one target. Now an outcast, not only of the B’s but of the entire school, she will have to pull from her inner strength as she prepares for the persecution she will face in the name of revenge.
Reed Reynolds is not looking for trouble. He just wants to get through his senior year and work on his music in peace. But when he mistakenly kisses Kitty Langley at their annual Masquerade Dance, he is both appalled and intrigued, never having experienced a kiss so powerful. Reed soon finds himself drawn in by this new Kitty and her tolerance for her so called ‘deserved punishment’. But will he endanger himself to defend her against the B’s and the entire school in the name of honor—or more importantly, in the name of love?

DeAnna Kinney is what you could call an eclectic writer at its best. If she can dream it, she can write it. Her main focus is YA Paranormal but also writes New Adult and Adult Romance, Action Adventure, Children's books, and even an Apocalyptic Christian Thriller Romance. She considers herself as fun-loving and a bit peculiar. Besides writing, she loves reading, all things purple, Star Wars, acting like a goofball with all of her friends, and dancing while she cooks (she can see her kids rolling their eyes as we speak). She believes whole-heartedly that chocolates and a good book go hand in hand. And, having experienced it herself, believes utterly in the power of true love.
She lives in the lovely North Carolina with her husband, four kids, and a dog named Link (aka Monster).

She is very hands-on with her fans and thrives on their interaction.

What a wonderful story. Not only is there a giggly school girl romance but Kinney tackles the ever-present issue of schoolyard bullying in this novella.

Kitty, who at one time was one of the “mean girls” walked into school one morning and decided to stand up to her so-called friends. After that, she became the victim, not only to the bullies, but also to every other student whom she had hurt in the past.

After an unexpected and—awkward—first meeting, Reed, the knight in shining armor (who is a hottie), swoops in and tries to save the day. Will he succeed? Well, you’ll have to read Exposing Kitty Langley to find out.

I loved everything about this story. The characters were well developed, likeable and fun and the moral was perfect for young adults. Kitty was a strong lead. She had a great outlook on life, and although she had her moments where she couldn’t see past the torment, she still managed to keep her head held high.

Reed, Kitty’s love interest, was a great counterpart. He was strong, protective, sweet; the list goes on and on. He was the perfect hero.

Exposing Kitty Langley was a delightful mix of valuable life lessons, sweet romance, and nail biting action. I would definitely recommend it and will certainly be reading it again.

Side note: I have to add, I was so excited to see Charity and Levi again, but I still want more. DeAnna, please, please, please, write more of their story.

I am so thrilled to finally have Exposing Kitty Langley published. I have worked on it off and on for so long that I was beginning to wonder if it would ever get finished. I adore this couple, Kitty and Reed, and I was especially excited about bringing back Charity and Levi. I really hope you enjoy this story. Well, I'm off to work on the next installment in the Charity Series. I think I've left the wolf pack alone too long.

The brutal reality of the saying, "What goes around, comes around," hits home when a teen girl, once part of a pretty nasty and mean clique at school finds herself on the wrong end of being bullied, humiliated, beaten and outcast.

There was a time when Kitty Langley was part of a girl's group called the Bee Hives, until she stood against them to help a former friend. What she endured after should never happen to anyone, EVER and now she knows how awful she had been to others. Help came from an unlikely source-the new boy at school. Reed Reynolds finds himself an accidental hero, coming to Kitty's rescue more than once, then concocting a plan to act as her boyfriend so he can watch over her.

While not a long story, the author has created a worse-case scenario of the evils of peer pressure and following the crowd like sheep without drawing it all out too much. Yes, there were times I wanted more, but there is much to be said about just putting it all out there and letting the reader expand the story mentally. What happens to Kitty is real, painful, shocking, embarrassing, and I found myself sickened at the lengths these teens would go to seek revenge, and yes, I wondered where their parents were when they are being raised. Frankly, there are things that should have been addressed legally, but, as in real life, went unreported because the victim knew things would just get worse. No one should be bullied, and for the life of me, I can't fathom how awful the bullies must feel inside for it to pour out in such venomous ways.

Kitty grows immensely under pressure. She didn't cave, she learned to accept help. Not easy things to do. By the last pages, I was completely in the moment picturing the final battle! I cannot recommend this book strongly enough for kids to read, because somewhere in there, they will recognize someone they know, something they've seen happen.

An excellent, emotionally charged quick read!

Many thanks to DeAnna Kinney for writing this book!

This is a moving, young adult story about devoted friendship, love, betrayal, and loyalty.

Kitty Langley is a bully. She is one of the most hated girls at West Windrake High, and is an exclusive group called the Bee Hives, or the B’s. They’re the mean girls. No one messes with them unless they want trouble. Bunnie Stevens, is the head B, and the most feared girl in school. When Kitty butts heads with her defending her friend’s honor, drastic things happen. Kitty is kicked out of the group and made a target. The plot thickens and I found myself frantically flipping through the pages of my kindle.

I think you can learn a lot from this story and I love how the author dealt with the bullying issue. I really believed Kitty is a strong person and I adored her. She is inspiring, brave, and loyal. I really believe Kitty learned from her mistakes and will become a better person for it. We all make bad choices in our lives and consequently, we learn from them. I found myself rooting for Kitty every step of the way. I especially rooted for her when she met her love interest Reed. I so wanted these two to become a couple. It’s just such a sweet story that warmed my heart.

This is a heart-touching and powerful story that I couldn’t get enough of. This is definitely a must read book and I give it five stars without a doubt!

First, I want to thank DeAnna for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review.

The cover is beautiful, like all the books by DeAnna Kinney.

This book deals with bullying in high school and how everyone should stand united to fight against it.

This book is set in West Windrake High, where Levi and Charity (from Charity Moon series) completed their high school. Kitty Langley, member of mean-girl-gang Bee Hives was very mean before the fight involving her former BFF takes place. She leaves the gang having enough of terrorizing her peers...
This makes her enemy number one for all her school mates and she believes that she deserves the wrath of all the people and decides to keep her teachers and parents out of the mess……

Reed Reynolds, the dashing blue-eyed boy is Kitty’s knight in shining armour. Reed cannot stand watching Kitty get hurt and tries to help her….which she resists at first and there is instant attraction between the two and boom! They fall in love…

The book was fast paced and I read it quickly, never a dull moment, I enjoyed it immensely.
Looking forward to more books by DeAnna Kinney.

First of all I would like to thank De Anna for sending me Exposing Kitty Langley pre-released in exchange for a honest review. This novella was amazing and in such a short story each character was developed perfectly. Exposing Kitty Langley tackles the huge issue of bullying and De Anna does not disappoint. Kitty and Reed are the two main characters and it was great reading from both of their points of view. Kitty’s character develops and changes throughout the novella and is a strong and lovable character. Reed is protective of Kitty and did everything to protect her being her own night in shining amour. Who wouldn’t want that? Through these characters and Kitty’s journey we were able to see how horrible bullying is and the heartbreaking impacts that it has on peoples lives. Also Charity and Levi came into the story line at some stage, which was fantastic. I recommend this book to everyone as it is excellently written and has a great focus and storyline. I can’t wait to see what De Anna has lined up next!

Bullying is a serious problem facing our young people. It is an issue dear to my heart. This story is a powerful one and one every teen should read. Spread the word and let's make a difference. Oh, and Reed is pretty amazing too.

ARC Review!!!
This novella was a cute read but it had so much character and the heroine faced real problems. Kitty Langley made some mistakes she once was the mean girl everybody hates but she decided to change for the better. She left the B's and wants nothing to do with them. But, no one just gets away with leaving the B's.
I loved Kitty and I felt so bad for her. She believed that she deserved what was happening to her. Getting pushed down the stairs, beaten, just physically and mentally tormented she though she deserved it all because of who she was. She even believed that she didn't deserve to be happy because of what she did. I loved how she changed through the short novella. She realized that she suffered enough and that she should just stand up to Bunny.
Reed, I totally love this guy. He was so good to her and he just couldn't stand to watch her get hurt. He was willing to do so much for her and he was just the perfect guy. I loved him from the first time we got insight into his mind. He's just that type of guy that every girl wants. So Reed, well definitely one of my favorite characters.
Speaking of my favorite characters... Guess who makes an appearance?!!? Yes, Levi and Charity give some advice to Kitty and Reed because if you remember the Charity Series then you should remember that Charity and Bunny didn't exactly get along. Well to be completely honest I'm pretty sure that if Charity got a chance to make Bunny history she would do it without a doubt. So it was so great seeing those two characters again. I really missed them both.
In the end this was a great novel that also has a great focus. Bullying isn't something anyone should put up whether you think you deserved it or not. Thanks to the author of this novella for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I recieved this Arc free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Reading this book was my pleasure. I love DeAnna Kinney's writing style. This book was a quick and easy read but with a strong message. I found a lot of truth to the story because tons of people deal with bullying on an everyday basis. I found this to be a pretty severe case of bullying, where the bullies not only physically bullied Kitty, but also mentally and psychologically. I just feel like so many readers would relate to this book whether they were the bully or bullied. I liked that Reed saw what was going on and knew it was wrong and did everything in his power to help Kitty. I'm glad they found each other or I don't know how far the bullies would have taken their torture.
I really respect Kitty for standing up to those mean girls even though she knew that it would make her life a living hell. I definitely would not have been able to endure what she had to go through. I'm glad that Kitty could take the bad and make it good. Reed also grew on me. He was the hero, the hot guy but didn't know it. I believe that if Reed hadn't have been there to help Kitty that the story may have ended differently, and not in a good way. I also liked Haley, even though she was mean to Kitty in the beginning I felt like she realized that being mean to Kitty was wrong and to do the right thing. As I loved how some characters from Charity's books made appearances.
I would recommend this book to everyone. DeAnna Kinney has a way of grabbing the reader and not letting go. I can't wait to see where Reed and Kitty's journey goes. Thanks again DeAnna for another spectacular read.

First I want to thank DeAnna for letting me read this early for a review. I just want to say that bullying someone is one of the most horrible things a person can do. After saying that, DeAnna wrote a wonderful book talking about bullying and how a person survived it. She was able to show the horrible, painful, and heartbreaking effects it has on a person, but also show how the person being bullied can be free, love life, and still find someone to love. The main character Kitty has done some awful things in life she wasn't proud of, and in the end was getting hurt by it. She knew that life isn't always easy, but she accepted her fate, but then came Reed. Reed was her knight in shinning armor, he couldn't stand what was happening to Kitty and he helped her. All the things that they were put through brought them together and helped them fall in love.
I cried through most of this book, but I also laughed. You will meet some characters you have seen and loved before, that will make you happy, but also mad. DeAnna has a way to bring characters to life to where you can relate their situations and feel the same emotions that they feel. The book Exposing Kitty Langley is a truly wonderful book, a real inspirational read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a story about finding yourself in life, having the courage to stand up for what you believe in, and find someone to love. I am a huge fan of DeAnna's books, I can't wait for what she has lined up next.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Exposing Kitty Langley is the story of a girl named Kitty who was a bully, when she sees a child hood friend being bullied by the leader of the Bee Hives; she takes a stand and her life changes. She no longer has the protection of the other bullies and everyone she hurt is ready to take their revenge. Reed Reynolds is a shy boy who just wants to go to school and write his music. When he looses a bet to a friend and accidentally ends up kissing Kitty instead of his friend Haley, then rescues Kitty from an attack all in the same night his priorities start to change. Reed wants to help Kitty, Kitty thinks she deserves what she is getting and doesn't want Reed hurt. Kitty is a young woman who spent close to four years torturing people, but she eventually does do the right thing. I loved Kitty she was so strong, she decides she deserves the abuse she is receiving and doesn't do anything about it. She pushes Reed away to protect him and doesn’t let anybody see how badly she is really being hurt. Reed is just a really wonderful guy, he doesn't even know Kitty and he helps her. I really loved this book, the two main characters interacted well together and their love story was sweet. I also really loved the message behind the story, bullying is not a joke and DeAnna did a really good job writing about the consequences and the effects it has on people.

This novella was one of the biggest and welcoming surprises that I have read in awhile. I am having great luck with all these Young Adult/ New Adult books I have been reading. Not only did it really touch on the bully element in schools in a raw and violent sort of way. It also showed how fickle that teenagers can be. When faced with all the elements that the characters were it came off as very real and very heart breaking for me. The romance that was embedded in the story made me smile. It developed naturally and didn't, "I see you now we are with one another." It progressed so perfect within the plot of the novel.

I found myself crying so many times and I was shot straight back to high school. I saw stuff like this happen all the time. I noticed that this story really showed that the 'queen bees' ruled the schools and no one questioned it because it meant pain and suffering emotionally and physically. I loved Kitty's strength and courage. I loved that she was aware that heractions of the past were horrible choices and she used them to better her as a person. To love and to grow. Reed was a great Hero to Kitty's heroine. He was handsome, kind, and even alpha at times.

As a whole the story was technically written fantastic. There were no dull moments and I read it in one sitting. If I am being honest I just couldn't stop. I highly recommend this to fans of young adult fiction!

I was asked to review this book by the Author which i was happy to do so, because i have loved all her books. When i received this book i was in the middle of another one but i actually took a break from that book to read this one. I was not disappointed. This book is great. Its about bullying and standing up for yourself. This book has a great love story between two people who found love when they least expected to. The story of Kitty Langley was so touching and i cried in more then one part. Some were Happy tears, and others were i cant believe that tears. I loved the main characters Kitty, She is so strong but doesn't know it. I love the journey she goes on to find who she is and who she wants to be. Reed's character is wonderful i wish more people were like this. I also thought that it was amazing that the Author brought in her characters from Charity series(which is one of my favorite btw) Charity and Levi make an apperence in the book but not enough to over shadow the characters of this book. But it was great to see Charity and Levi again it made me want to read Charity Moon and Charity Rising again.

This book i would recommend for any young adult and any gender.

I will definitely be telling my friends to read this book.

This is a must read for anyone dealing with bullying or looking for a heart warming good book.

I cant wait to see more from this Author!!!!!

First of all I want to the author DeAnna Kinney for giving me an ARC of this book.

This book started with Kitty defending her old friend from bullying by a part of team she was herself a part of . Seeing from outside and to be done on somebody you knew gave her something else to think and opened her eyes to what she was becoming. A monster.

Reed is a guy who is shy and quiet but circumstances make him support Kitty because somehow he saw the true face of the girl when he first met her. That Kiss was PHEW ...Wish someone ...someday :D
This book deals with bullying and abuse and talks about a girl facing the same thing she did to other and the effect it had on surrounding and on her. I loved that she was strong and didn't become so negative. I have always been against bullying and this book is kinda my first book which deals with bullying.. I try to stay away from it but I am glad I read this book. It was little effecting.

I loved the appearance of few favourite characters :)
Its fast paced and very good story. I would really recommend it to everyone who has been abused an to see that how to stand up to the group.. Stand together and you won't get hurt. Because Bullying in any form is not good. Getting abused can never be repayment of any wrong you did.

This was an interesting angle to use when writing about bullying. I thought this book was different, important and also fun to read. I can see how a teen could really relate to this book. Even I, as an adult was able to relate to the main character as I went through some of the same things when I was in high school. I liked that the author used the main character as both the villain and the hero at times and thought the expressions she used to convey her point really fleshed out the character and gave her life.

The single thing about this book that impressed me the most was the dialogue. If you have ever read a book and rolled your eyes thinking "Oh come on, teenagers don't talk like that," then you know what I mean. This author really made me feel like I was overhearing a high school conversation. I would recommend this book!

This was a charming novella, with a really good message, about how much a person can take until they fight back, and stand up for themselves.
Kitty used to be a mean girl, but after standing up to her peers, was suddenly on the other side, being bullied by her former friends and everyone she’s ever hurt in the past. All it takes is one person to make a difference, and in this story it was Reed. He was a sweet and caring character that stuck his neck out for someone he didn’t know. We need more Reeds in this world.
This was a great story about a subject that is becoming way too familiar. Maybe we need more books like this in the POV of the person being bullied, so maybe the bullies will see how it feels.
A great read that I definitely recommend.

I hated that this novella made feel sorry for a bully. Of all the subjects Kinney could have chosen for her story, this seems the among the most contemptible. With no context, the quote unquote heroine of the piece suddenly decides she doesn't want to be a bully any more. Her fellow bullies and most of the rest of the student body decide to make her life hell. And you do feel sympathy for her. You can't help it! And, frankly, I have no desire to feel any form of sympathy for bullies. Even ones who've suddenly decided to be better people. Bullies are the lowest form of life on the planet and deserve whatever they get. No redemption. No excuses. No YA authors who should know better giving them pretty hair and kind, handsome boyfriends.

Another success for DeAnna Kinney!

Exposing Kitty Langely centers on Kitty (as the title suggests) and Reed. Kitty is the mean girl, but when she has a fallout with her "mean girl" crowd no one likes her...except maybe Reed. Reed is the adorable guy who shocks all the girls by honestly not wanting to get involved with their drama. But he has to help out Kitty...
Just to throw it out there, Reed is awesome :)

Exposing Kitty Langely is so great to read and really gets into a cool plot for being so short. It's not something that's going to create controversy for generations to come; it's just fun :) I would recommend it to everyone.

This is a great high school romance about a girl named Kitty and a boy named Reed. Reed is a true knight in shining armor. He so wants to protect Kitty and slay any dragons that come against her. I loved them as a couple. If you are familiar with DeAnna Kinney's Charity series, than you will be happy to see a little bit of Levi and Charity. I highly recommend this book as well as DeAnna Kinney's Charity series!

First, isn’t the cover pretty? I love the purple mask and the gorgeous green eyes!

This is a great, quick read with a strong message. I would recommend it to teenagers, especially anyone dealing with bullying. The bullying Kitty suffers is a pretty extreme case, but the fact that she stays so strong and eventually stands up for herself was pretty inspiring. I enjoyed it!
