This is in many ways a very sad book, with Elektra that has no one left who really care for her anymore. Her mother is drunk, and abusive, while her father is at war in Afghanistan, and believed dead. While also handling themes such as pedophilia, failure, abuse, and violence, but in a way so that they never really become cliché.
I found it funny how the orphanage Elektra is sent to is called the Sunflower, even though there is nothing sunny or good about that place. The kids, and teacher alike are messed up.
The main character, Elektra, is portrayed in such a way that we know that she lost, and it is sad for her, but it isn't everything about her. There is more to her then just her pain.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, and found it very well written.
2.5 STARS It was very weird but i needed to know what will happen so that is good, but it was a school read and it's the best one so far but still this book was so weird
