A comprehensive review of slabs in ceramic construction. It reviews making a work surface, ways to make slabs, slab rollers even a discussion of how to build your own slab roller. Then it has demonstrations of several slab projects including a 3 tile panel; adding an image by carving then using a press form mold; making a plaster press mold to use to design a slab, using props to make a picture frame; using a slump mold for a platter and a dish; press mold creation of a wall pocket; using templates to form a bowl and a pitcher; using draped forms for sculpture as well as a bowl made using a drape mold; making a lidded box and a mitered box from slabs;using a form to make a tankard; a pitcher made from a single slab and a free form bowl. He finishes with a discussion of considerations about drying, firing and glazing. The final chapter is a gallery of slab built forms for inspiration.

I recommend this as a resource for the potter who hand builds using slabs as well as the student who wants to learn to build using slabs.
