Hi there. Thank you for checking out my profile.

It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.

Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.

With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…

Slow build up, second chance romance, with some hot sheet wrangling.
Enjoyable, not knock me off my feet.
Cole is a broken man, closed off and sparky towards others. His wife died, years ago and he blames himself and doesn't want to experience any happiness out of guilt. He is so prickly I was hoping for a good section of the book that she'd just tell him to rot all alone in Hades. But the patience of a strong woman, got those sticks pulled out and he became something wonderful.
Jordan, is a cop and a restaurant owner in LA. She is also grieving, she lost her husband to a bullet during a robbery 2 years earlier. She has gone through her stages and is climbing back up the hill to be with the living.
These two grew up together, she has a school girl crush on Cole which ended when she left for college. When their parents called her to come for a party she couldn't say no. The she saw her old friend, well the shell of him, she had to help him move on. Of course the parents set the whole thing up. So begins the fight, win or draw she will not lose.
I didn't find really any humor in this read. I would have liked some to lighten up Cole's darkness. he really was a jerk in the beginning. The sex was steamy and made me swoon for that spiky cowboy. I liked it but not enough to read more in the series.

This was a book dare, meaning someone else picks a book that maybe you wouldn't pick for yourself.
As it turned out this was a nice, fast, full of humor and many touching parts kind of read. Oh and hot sex, too.
I will be putting book 2 in my tbr mountain.
What makes this a book that I wouldn't usually pick for myself is the two main characters had many issues (him more than her),although later in the book I found Jordan a little bit to much, about how much she loved him. That's just me. While there were super sad things in this story the author didn't make the book so dark, nor the characters so broken that you don't want to read about them and just want them to get electric shock like some books out there. This author balanced the characters heartbreaks and moving on in a nice way. Thanks for the recommend Carrie.

A great story of enduring love. I loved Cole!! I really enjoy books where the author throws in some humour. Jordan has been in love with Cole forever. When her family moves to California as a teen she is certain that her and Cole will be together when she's done school. When she finds Cole has married someone else she goes on with her life.

Ten year later married and widowed she and Cole are thrown together by their plotting parents. Jordan can't stand to see Cole so bitter and angry about his wife's death and she sets out to make sure he snaps out of it.

Jordan is a take no prisoners, kick ass kind of woman and she uses that and the love she still feels for Cole to get him to move on with his life. I loved her strength and humour. Cole is just about perfect to me... (sigh)

Cole and Jordan have both suffered the unimaginable. They lost their spouses at a very young age. Jordan gets through it by finally opening up to her family and realizing they had to grieve too. Her meddling parents and those of Cole decide that Jordan is just what Cole needs to get him over the same loss. Neither of them is ready for the storm of emotions the other brings out. Story is fun; just what you'd expect from a quick, free romance trash novel! Complete with punctuation, spelling and grammar errors. Good thing I don't read trash novels expecting fantastic writing!

Donna is amazing. I fell in love, cried and laughed. Cole and Jordan needed a happy ending. It took Cole long enough to wake up. I can't wait for Connor's story.

This is not your same old/same old romance--it actually has an original plot and well-drawn characters. Glad I read it.

An editor really would've helped this novel. The characters were realistic, even bringing me to tears at one point. The heroine, and her doormat mentality, bugged me. But if she's okay with it....

Hard headed, stubborn and gorgeous, this couple ignites the pages. It wasn't easy but worth the effort and heartache to there.

When circumstances, and perhaps a little help from their parents, bring Jordan and Cole back together, even the pain and scars from their past can’t stop the attraction that they still feel for each other. Both Cole and Jordan have suffered the loss of a spouse. Jordan still suffers from her loss and carries the emotional scars, but she has begun the healing process and has started to come to terms with her new life without her husband. Unlike Jordan, Cole has not addressed his grief and has become a shell of the man he was, hard and bitter, constantly pushing his family away.

Cole and Jordan have always shared an attraction for one another, but timing was never on their side. And even though Cole has shut down his heart, just being around Jordan is enough to make him start feeling again – something he wants no part of!
“And that’s exactly what she was doing; knocking out a piece of the carefully built wall he’d erected around his emotions. She attacked his libido like a heavyweight in a title match – he didn’t stand a fucking chance.”

I loved Jordan – she has never been one to shy away from issues and comes at things head on, so when she has had enough of watching the hard and bitter Cole behave badly toward his family, she calls him out on his behavior. Having gone through a similar loss, Jordan understands Cole’s feelings, but knows that he has to be the one to forgive himself and start the healing process – and bring back the man that he used to be.
“Just what I said. No. I won’t stop trying to change you because I don’t particularly like you. I want you gone and the old Cole back.”

This was an emotional read with lots of angst and some hot & steamy times. I love when an author can take me to extremes about a character – I often found that I couldn’t decide if I wanted to smack Cole aside the head or cry for his heartache. The sparks that would fly between Jordan and Cole were great, and that tension that existed between the two led to some fun times.
Son-of-a-bitch! She handcuffed him to his chair. If that didn’t fucking turn him on.
Big.
Time.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. These Dalton boys are sure cut from some fine stock and have all sorts of cowboy sexy going on – makes for some fun reading time!

Jordan Masters Ryan, is a LA Cop, a widow, a daughter, a sister, a friend. She blames herself for her husband's death in a convenience store robbery. Cole McCall, is a CEO, a rancher, a widower, a son, a brother, a friend.

He blames himself for his wife's death in a freak car accident. What do these two have in common besides guilt, they were once best of friends until the Masters family left Texas. Now, Jordan and her sister Kerri have been recruited to go to Texas for Mr. and Mrs.

McCall's 40th Anniversary, but Jordan doesn't know what to make of the once fun-hearted Cole. Jordan knows first-hand, what it's like to be left by the one you love and trying to move on, and she's determined to help Cole do just that. Can two broken hearts heal each other and become one full functioning, loving couple?

Donna Michaels is a fabulous author. I loved this book, and I want more Cole! The first few chapters are not romantic at all, give it a little time it is coming. Miss Michaels love scenes are that, they are not full of vulgarity, you can honestly see the love pouring off the pages. The author also gives us great 'insider' info as to what the characters are feeling.

Of course, you can't have a love story like this without some fun and games and laughter, thanks to two male characters. Just when things are getting heavy, out they pop to take the edge off. All in all, I'd recommend this book to any friend who has a soft spot for Cowboys, or thinks that CEO's can't be anywhere but the Board room!

Jordan and Cole. I've been eyeballing this book for a while but was too cheap to buy it. So, yeah!, it was posted as free the other day. I confess I skimmed a lot. Really not interested in hearing about the hero being happy with another woman...
Cole and Jordan were childhood friends. She has to move away with her family thinking that after she finishes school they will get back together. I dunno, maybe they should have discussed this first? Because apparently they were not on the same page. She returns to see Cole married to someone else. So she leaves and becomes a cop and marries someone else herself. Both other spouses conveniently die. Jordan meets Cole again but he blames himself for his spouses death even though it was in no way his fault. He likes to take survivor's guilt to a whole new level I guess. This of course stops him from giving himself to Jordan but they do have a hot little fling. It's OK to use her, just not feel anything for her... So not liking the story by this point. But I trudge through. Really i didn't find the story romantic. For quite a lot of the book, the MCs are in difference cities. Cole is an idiot and Jordan really should have smacked him upside the head.
There's some decent grovelling at the end, but imho too late and too easy. Doooooormat...
The thing that really irked me was the epilogue that was usurped by the author to set up the next brother's story.

I downloaded this book back in march when it was free but like so many books I never got round to reading it, there was always something else that caught my eye, plus I hated the cover, when Her Unbridled Cowboy hit the free list I checked back and found Her Fated Cowboy which I've now read. Can't believe I didn't read this earlier, most free books I've found fall into the two mainly three star ratings, there're a good interesting read with good characters which I enjoy reading at the time but are not the kind that stays with me or that I would read again or even go looking for the next one. This is different it was more than I expected I loved the main and secondary characters, the story was strong enough to hold my attention to the end. It's about two brothers Connor and Cole, Connor is still single despite three attempts and Cole is widowed and drowning in his misery when we meet him. It's also about two sisters Jordan and Kerri, Kerri is divorced which has knocked her confidence and Jordan is also widowed but apart from the nightmares is coming out from under her grief. Into the mix is added two sets of matchmaking parents who also happen to be best friends and you can see where this is going, this is Cole and Jordan's book but all the characters are well written and I must admit I can't wait to start the next one.

First of all let me say that I love books with modern day cowboys, and I also love when the characters carry over into the next book. With that being said, I knew that I couldn't go wrong with the Harland County books. This book is the story of Jordan and Connor, who grew up together, went their separate ways, and then fate threw them back together. Although, they have been through a tragic and similar loss in their lives, they have handled it differently. Jordan is beautiful, strong, and determined. Cole is a handsome, sexy CEO/cowboy, who has let the loss of his wife turn him in to a bitter, cold, workaholic. Jordan cannot stand to see her old friend in this condition, and is determined to see him back to his old self. It's a good thing that Jordan is a patient woman because Cole would try the patience of a saint. Not saying that I am a saint, but he sure tried mine a couple of times while I was reading this book. Their parents decide to do a little match making, knowing that Jordan and Connor were close at one time, and thus the fun begins. This book is loaded with real life situations, humor, love, attitude, good friends and family. Great job, Donna Michaels, you sure know how to handle those cowboys. If you love hot, sexy, brooding cowboys and the strong women that tame them, this book is for you.

Dear god. I feel bad to be giving one-stars to these books - they average over 4! - but man. Of course this book started with two strikes against it since I hate the "tortured hero forbids himself to love because of his ~past" trope and dislike the "reunion" trope too, but then the hero was a complete jerk with anger issues and violent tendencies that the extremely annoying heroine kept poking at when a self-respecting person would have walked away years ago, the writing was full of basic grammar mistakes, and the plot slow and boring.

Oh, and did I mention that the first ten chapters only had two interrupted makeouts, and their first night together they just cuddled and slept? Do you think I bought a book called Cowboy 6 Pack because I like the Texas scenery? (This one wasn't even a cowboy. Not that I particularly care, but still! He's a programmer/CEO! That's false representation.) By the time the sex scenes finally arrived, even though they were probably all right, I just couldn't bring myself to care.

In honor of dairy month I was tasked with choosing a book that featured a cowboy. In order to complete this challange I chose Her Fated Cowboy. Before I begin I will give you the one major con that I had with the book. This was the stories were to aligned and made the storyline seem truly fiction. I know I know it is a fiction book but, with Jordan and Cole both having the same past it was just strange where that turns into a Pro is Jordan had experienced the same thing as Cole and wanted to see him get his life back.. and the sparkle back into his eye was remarkable and since she was speaking from experience it was unique in its own way. I loved the characters even when I wanted to smack them. Jordan with her attitude was someone I fell in love with. I loved that the author had several peaks in the story and I think Mrs. Michaels did a very good job of telling the story and making me want to be a part of the storyline. I will definately read Kerri and Connor's story in Her Unbridled Cowboy.

I really enjoyed this read. It's been on my TBR for quite some time. Jordan and Cole have known each other since they were kids. Her family moved away, but their love never really died. It was just misplaced for a long while. They each married others and were widowed quite young. You don't normally see this in books. Donna did a beautiful job in not rushing the romantic or physical relationship between the pair. They had to get past the hurt, guilt and anger. The fact that they were friends and so close in their youth (in a way) helped the grieving and the healing. They really did need each other in order to be able to move forward with life. When they finally come together in the physical sense, you expect the perfect romantic setting and they make love and it's magical. That's not what we get. We get real, raw emotion from a couple that cannot even think about slow. It's genuine and pull of so much passion it had me longing for a love like that. I cannot wait to read more of this series.

I really loved this story of Jordan Masters and Cole McCall. Jordan told Cole as a child they would marry someday, after moving to to California with her parents at the age of 17, it seemed those dreams would never come true. After both married and both loss their spouses fate (their parents) brought them back together for the McCall's 40th Anniversary. Jordan struggled with seeing her husband murdered in front of her but Cole seemed to shrivel up and die inside after the loss of his wife. The guilt of his wife's car accident killed the man he once was not even the love of his family. Cowboy CEO Cole needed tough love and a kick in the pants from the one woman who had always loved him - Jordan. Cole started to resemble the man he once was but he pushed Jordan's love away until a LA earthquake almost killed her and her sister Kerri. I am ready to read the next book in the series - Harland County. I read this as a part of a six book Cowboy 6 pack featuring 6 different authors.

With love, there is always the chance of heartbreak. Cole and Jordan know this firsthand. Both have lost spouses to tragic accidents and enter the novel heartbroken. As both are frozen, life has become about the day-to-day existence. Their parents are counting on a reunion of their childhood crushes to re-ignite some spark of life. This is not a romance in the Harlequin sense (although there are some steamy scenes, including the one on the cover). This is a romance about emotions--love, fear, and pride--and how they can drive our actions. A romance complete with balconies, picnics under oak trees, ocean views, and Fate. Cole and Jordan are fun to watch as they battle one another and their own emotions. A supporting cast determined to push them together with hearts as big Texas. I enjoyed this emotional journey.

Her Fated Cowboy is a modern western Romance set in Texas. Cole is locked away in an unfeeling body of hurt. His wife was killed in a car accident and he's withdrawn into himself.

Jordan has also suffered a devastating blow, her husband was shot in a convenience store robbery. She's been down the road of blaming herself, but has pulled herself up.

Their families are mutual friends and their planning on throwing the two together to see if they can get Cole out of the depression and anger that he's fallen into.

This is an awesome story, with other stories to be told about other members of the family. I especially liked how Jordan drew Cole out.
They had been friends for years, since childhood, when Jordan followed Cole all over and pestered him all the time.

I look forward to reading the next books in this wonderful series by Donna Michaels.

I thought this was a great story of true love extended through time. Cole and Jordan grew up together, hung out together as their families were great friends. As they grew older and away from each other, they each found a love and married. Never forgotten each other and 12 years later, they reconnect. Both having lost their spouses through death, one takes a lot longer to comes to terms with their loss and the other is there to push the other still grieving to live again. Through this connection they reunite their feelings until the nightmare comes back and thrusts one back into the depths of being scared to love again. Comical in some areas, hard asses in another and hot, hot sex. This is the first book in this series and I'm excited to move on to book 2.

Really like this author...

It is my first book by her and I love her writing style. Perfect blend of the H/h fighting their attraction but it's so obvious they are fated!

I loved the plot and the tension the author creates! Plus who is going to argue about a sexy hurting cowboy, who needs a bit of mending? Not me!

At times I wanted to slap Jordan and say stop acting so desperate but overall I really liked her determination and fight! The side characters are good too... It has funny moments for sure!

Some minor word usage problems. HEA!

Can't wait to read the others!

Cowboys...my weakness; and this book has several of them. Cole's wife died in a car accident...he blames himself; Jordan's husband was shot in front of her during a robbery...she lived. Jordan has worked through her pain and is trying to move one while Cole will not...he won't even talk to his family. They were once good friends and Jordan had a crush on Cole, so when Cole's parents have their 40th anniversary Jordan's family is invited to help plan the party. Their parents have a hidden agenda for Cole and Jordan...and it's not celebrating the anniversary.

good book

Well written, nice romantic story. Childhood friends meet again after both suffer heartbreak and loss. Can they put away their hurt to focus on a new relationship, or are they too broken to take another chance at love. Story does include the requisite steamy scenes that most romance seem to require these days. I would prefer a little something left to my imagination but I guess most readers need the sex included.

Didn't finish. Got to 70%, then put it down.

This book had potential, and wasn't horribly written. Just Eh. I ran out interest. The pacing was slow, and I just ran out of patience waiting for ....Something....to happen. Then when something finally did, I found that I wasn't that invested. Obviously, my opinion differs from others, so if this is your genre, give it a try.

I loved this book, and actually read it twice. The characters are alive and real, with issues and fears that make them lovable and human. The setting description is beautiful, and I could picture myself there with them. Lovely, inventive sex scenes, and great secondary characters. I will definitely read the entire series, and I have Ms. Michaels on my favorite list.

I got this book because it was a freebie. It started off slow, and I came very close to not finishing it, but something about it told me to keep at it for a while. It grabbed me and I got wrapped up in the story.

By the end, I liked the story so well that I've already downloaded the second in the series.
