Zombie Hickey Action

I am pretty sure that anyone that has read up to this point or even glanced at this cover can imagine this is a horror series that also contains themes of a sexual nature though no actual sex happens in it so far. Amongst possible fetishes include Necrophilia (zombie affection), Foot fetishes (referenced while focusing on feet), slight bondage (bound to prevent zombie actions and grandpa wears a collar), and Vorarephilia (zombie hunger.) There is also some limited nudity without exposing too much but still some readers may wish to avoid this series.

Rea, the zombie girl, has had a rough life even though she lived in a world where she could have almost anything she could hope for. However the trade off is her father is a pervert obsessed with her, a mother who couldn't care about her, and a life where expectancy has removed her from what many would consider simple pleasures as she is kept in her ivory tower of society. This volume explains why her family are kind of messed up though there is no excuse in the end for either parents' actions as we continue to see Rea doing her best to live life how she always wanted before she might lose herself in the next stages of her undead existence. With zombie loving Chihiro always there to support her (as well as his zombie cat Bub) she has to be extra careful when she discovers the hunger inside her is beginning to rise.

I decided to read Sankarea: Undying Love Story & Art By Mitsuru Hattori Vol.4 because I've read Vol.1-3 and loved it then I wanted to read one of my favorite Zombie books again/read more of this series. Once I started reading I fell in love again with this unusual zombie romance! This story follows a guy named Furuya Chihiro who is a High School student and is obsessed with Zombies to the point he wants one for his girlfriend! After his pet cat named Bub died he decided to use a resurrection potion to bring his cat back to life as a zombie. Then He meets a girl named Sanka Rea who is a popular girl and local heiress whose life isn't as perfect as it seems? Furuya Chihiro suggests that she could serve as a test subject! My favorite characters so far are Furuya Chihiro because he very unique, has a love for horror zombie themed stuff, and he's a very good friend to Sanka Rea because he is taking care of her once she became a zombie & letting her live her life. Sanka Rea because she's a girl who wants to be free from her family and experience life. She's now a Zombie who is finally experiencing life with the help of Chihiro by her side! Saohji Ranko because she's Furuya Chihiro cousin who is like an older sister and bestfriend to him, she also like Zombie Horror movies too. Also know about Rea's zombie secret! My favorite parts of the story are when Rea finally goes to the festival to experience a "normal life" and she gets some privacy with Chihiro because she actually loves him which is very cute until Rea turns into zombie mode and accidently bites Chihiro again! Then Rea disappears because she doesn't want her love to get hurt by her anymore so everyone starts looking for Rea. Another part I like but not really is when Chihiro goes sees Rea's mother, Sanka Aria but she doesn't care about her daughter at all because it's her stepdaughter not her own also Aria tries to seduce Chihiro for sex with a live person instead of Rea's undead one (Rea & Chihiro haven't even had sex yet). It also turns out that Rea's real mother was a 15 year old girl who died after she gave birth to Rea but also Rea looks exactly like her mother so her father loves her more than his new wife Aria, which is very disgusting! Also really love the part where Chihiro realized where Rea would be and finally found her but there is a really bad storm when he tries to bring Rea home. Then lightning crashes and the building become on fire and Rea zombie mode begins again and Chihiro is in trouble worried to be eaten! I really love how strange this story is because it's very different from common Zombie stories! I think the person/zombie that Darin was studying was Sada because I think that Mero & Chihiro's mother's name also Rea reminds Mero of her mother and acts like her after she became a zombie. I hope we get to find out if Sada is really their mother and how she became a zombie. We get to see a scene where Chihiro is remembering his mother saying goodbye to them but it's unclear why she left. The art work is very detailed with each scene/place, characters, the gruesome gory scenes and I love it! I can't wait to read Sankarea: Undying Love By Mitsuru Hattori Vol.5 I want to know if Rea is fully zombified and eats Chihiro alive in the next book. Also I want to know more what is going happen to Sanka Rea as zombie, how is Chihiro and Rea's relationship will bloom and if anyone will find out that she's a zombie! I would recommend this book to horror fans and zombie lovers!

Summary (for the whole manga):
Furuya Chihiro is a die-hard fan of zombies. He has a whole collection of zombie movie DVDs, zombie dolls/figurines, and other zombie-related stuff. With his grandfather's old book, he secretly tries to craft a resurrection drug that is said to be able to bring back the dead in the form of a zombie. Chihiro's beloved cat, Babu, has recently died; and therefore he wants to test the drug on Babu. In the event of his experiment that was done in an abandoned building, Sanka Rea, an heiress of the Sanka family, unexpectedly comes to the well near the building to vent out her frustration towards her father. Both of them surprisingly got along with each other afterwards, and Rea shows interest in Chihiro's zombie experiment. Rea secretly steals some of the resurrection drug from Chihiro and drinks the drug with the hopes of ending her life. However, nothing happens after she consumed the drug. The next night, Rea falls over a cliff when she was with her father. Surprisingly, Rea did not exactly die, due to the drug that she consumed. Rea becomes a zombie and is free from her father's grasp. She decides to live with Chihiro's family. Chihiro then does his best to keep Rea from rotting away and to learn the real truth about zombies and the resurrection drug.

In the fifth volume of Undying Love, we learn that Rea, like past zombie subjects, will slowly succumb to her true nature. Becoming ever more dangerous to those she loves. Chihiro.

As she realizes she is in love with him, she learns that her love will turn on him. After an initial taste of Chihiro, she runs away fearing she could do more harm. He eventually finds her, tickled by the idea of his "girlfriend" eating him.

This "sweet" moment is ruined as Rea tries to eat him once more with more resolve. Chihiro manages to wake her from the state but for how long....

An excellent turning point in the Sankarea series. Rea begins to fall victim to her undead tendencies in this installment, leading to some "perilous" situations for Chihiro. The cover definitely does a great job foreshadowing the climax of the novel. Read to find out what Chihiro will do next...

THE ENDING?! And honestly the lore behind Rea’s mom makes a lot of sense and it’s weirdly better while also still making the dad the creep he fucking is.

It has now been two weeks since Rea died and was reanimated but already she has entered her turbid period. The turbid period is the process in which what humanity the zombie has left is slowly fading and instead is being taken over by instincts.
As Rea's condition worsens to the point where she nearly kills Furuya in an instant, she chains herself and hides, so that she won't eat Furuya... The injury that Furuya sustained puts him in bed and he sleeps for two whole days without waking once, but as soon as he does he goes searching for Rea, despite still having not fully recovered. But as Rea's likes Furuya more, her humanity slips even more... Will Furuya's loyalty and compassion be the very end of him...?


This is getting really freaking sad.
Although there are still some parts that take place during the anime (such as when Aria reveals that she is not Rea's biological mother, and how she came to be Danichiro's second wife) this volume would be the best to start off with if you don't want to read previous volumes. Although, then again, maybe that would be volume three, since nobody would know where the heck Darin came from... Nonetheless, the story correlates better here. Aah, I don't know. The anime and manga are so alike, and yet so different. It's starting to get exciting though. And Mitsuru Hattori-sensei keeps dropping hints that makes it seem as if Furuya and Mero's mother became a zombie when they were both still very young. Perhaps she became ill after giving birth to Mero, and eventually died after a few more years? And why does Furuya have so little recollection of his mother? One thing I need to add... Aria needs to put her tits away. Nobody wants 'em. Oh, and before I forget to mention... Furuya was actually really cool in this volume! Like, really! If he was real, I'd totally develop a crush on him after this! This did make me like him more. ;3 That silly kitty cat boy! And Babu (er, Bub, I guess) and Rea are also pretty cute in this one. But the last half really scares me! I LIKE IT!

The word that jumps out at me when I try to describe this series is intriguing. I don’t feel like that gives enough detail, that it’s too vague, but it’s true. I just don’t even know what to expect from this series at this point, I’m not completely caught yet, but I’m really enjoying seeing where it’s going.

I’m finding it increasingly apparent that I like Rea, and that she might actually be my favorite character. I’m surprised by her. She’s shy, but she’s earnest, sincere, and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone. She doesn’t want to fight—she just wants to be normal. And she wants friends, and a life, and to experience things. I understand her. And I want to be there throughout her journey.

Which is why her transformation is so surprising, and intense. She doesn’t want this, but she also legitimately wants to eat Chihiro, and thinks he looks delicious. And the poor guy just isn’t helping.

I really feel for her, too. And I really love the turn this is taking. It just wasn’t what I was expecting—and I still don’t know where it’s going. And now there are hints about Chihiro’s mother, and that has me really interested.

Aside from all of that, I still enjoy Chihiro’s little sister, Mero. I’m still not really liking their cousin. She just doesn’t seem important, and I don’t care for her flirting with Chihiro. Also, I’m starting to get annoyed with Chihiro, or at least with his hair. I’m not sure why, but his personality, and his cat-eared hair is just bothering me. Hopefully that’ll wear off soon.

I’m really enjoying the development of the zombie stuff, and Rea’s character. I’m really looking forward to seeing where it goes in the next volume.

Rae is going down the inevitable path that pervious zombie have shown, and is finding it hard to retain her rational thinking. The premise of this manga is interesting and I’m curious to see if this love story between a human and a zombie will end (surely it can’t end well but who knows what solution they may come up with). Although I’d did enjoy reading this volume and it did reveal some unexpected truths, I did find myself feeling like pace was a bit too slow. The last volume dealt with the same issues as this one with still no solution or explanation. It feels like the plot has barely moved on. A good read all round with a mixture of lighthearted comedy, romance, ecchi, and horror but, just not enough plot progression for my liking.

Sì, dai... tutto sommato mi piace. È una lettura un po' diversa rispetto a quello che leggo di solito come manga. Anche vero che ho un debole per i racconti di zombie.

Questo dà una visione un po' particolare del folklore zombiesco. C'è il veleno delle ortensie che aiuta, ma poi è difficile mantenere la condizione iniziale e bisogna trovare un modo per preservare la povera Rea, che sarà costretta - a breve - a mangiare chi ama. Però, sembra che il gatto non abbia dovuto subire la stessa cosa...

Va beh, vediamo come procede.

I normally dislike zombies, but this was actually pretty good. The main zombie character is cute^2 and the cat boy is just too funny. Overall, there are a few odd bits I simply don't get (scenes which likely make sense to Japanese and not Americans) but I would definetly recommend it!

Os capítulos do festival são muito bons!
É muito legal ver os momentos em que a Rea começa a entrar no ‘período confuso’. Essas cenas são desenhadas como um mangá de terror e eu amo o estilo.
Também foi bem legal ver o flashback sobre os pais da Rea.

Rea is trying hard to become a normal girl and is trying to date Chihiro, why doesn't she just say him that she love him? I mean is obvius that he love her.
