This is my favorite book of the series; being a 50 something widow I can relate to Denni.
This book was a great finale for the series. I thought when I started reading book 1 I would be sick of the Thompsons by the end of book 5 but I was wishing for a book 6 (maybe about Ben Morgan). I have now read 6 books by this author and have loved them all and can't wait for the next one.

The Cowboy’s New Heart can be summed up in two words Heart Throbbing!! This 5th book in Shanna Hatfield’s masterful Grass Valley Series is just splendid. Denni and Hart both have heart’s, which have been so shattered, that for years they never even thought of having a whole or at least a pieced back together heart, ever again. Leave it to Shanna Hatfield to show that two people, even middle aged, can definitely find love and find it in such a way that they have the very core of their existence rocked and rocked so Hard, that their Shattered hearts, fall back in place.
Awwww and by returning back to Grass Valley we get more of the sweet little Cass, this child has my heart. She is just precious. Included is more of the Triple T and all those hunky Thompson Men and their Wonderful Brides. Shanna Hatfield knows how to put real HEART in a book and this one definitely shows that!!

I enjoyed The Cowboy's New Heart by Shanna Hatfield. One thing that I really liked is that 2 of the main characters are middle aged. This book tells the story of Denni Thompson and her 3 sons and 3 daughters-in-laws. Denni is a widow who owns and operates a quilt shop. She begins to date Hart Hammond who is an ex-professional rodeo bull rider. He now owns the gas station in Grass Valley. I liked that they took things slowly as they got to know each other. The book is written so that you begin to feel like you are a part of the Thompson family and the important moments in their lives. The Thompsons are people that you'd like to meet and hang out with. After reading this book I want to read other books in the Grass Valley Cowboy series.

Denni and Hart ❤️❤️❤️

What a great story! I loved reading about a couple finding love that are close to my age. Another very awesome thing I loved was Hart's nickname for Denni....Sunshine is what my husband calls me 💞 Hart was like the perfect man. And his house...I would love to have seen something like that in real life. The scene for their Valentines dinner there was probably my most favorite part of the book.

Besides Hart, my second favorite character was Ester...oh mylanta lol she cracked me up! She so reminded me of my own mom who had the same type of twisted, dry humor. I loved Ester!

On to Ben's story! By the way, my youngest son is named Ben! Sad that this will be the last of the series. I've really enjoyed getting to know all these characters!

I dont read many books where the lead characters are 45+, I just dont find them.

Denni has been a joy in all the other books in this series.

Hart and Denni's love story is believable and pulls at the heart strings at times - all while letting us check in on the couples from the previous stories.

I laughed, I cried

So wonderful to read a romance where the main characters are nor dewy eyed 20 or 30 somethings. Mature people that have loved, lost and are struggling to find their place in loves sunshine at 50 plus are unusually overlooked, yet Shanna did a wonderful job of conveying our thought, desire and fears. Such a good read, I thank you Shanna Hatfield!

The best family series I have read.

The whole Grass Valley series books were heartwarming and I felt like I was part of these families coming together in LOVE! It was nice to see that work could be set aside for the priorities in life and love. Making time is so important for a relationship to continue growing. Thank you so much Shanna.

Denni had her three hooligan boys married off to lovely women so it was her turn. Finally a love story between people past their prime. The banter between Denni and her octogenarian mama was hilarious. This book is worth the read just for that.

Grass Valley

Enjoyed reading this book in the series. Looking forward to reading the last book in this series. You can relate to what is going on in each book. It's things that go on in everyday life with people. I want to thank the author for writing these books.

New Heart

A good read. It is nice to recognize the hardship for a widow or widower. People of a certain age feel life, love is a thing of the past. It was nice to read about Denni. A strong family is also rare, disagreements and discourse are more commonly seen. Great series.

Well, I definitely love a story that has older main characters. Something sweet about late in life love and second chances. Although I’m still married to you, the love of my life, I felt a bit of a kinship to Denni. I think it would be difficult for me to allow myself to love someone else without feeling guilty. I also love that Shanna included romance with this older couple. So many people think that romance dies or is not important as you get older, but that’s just not true.

Even through this book focused on the love story of the mother of the Thompson boys in her fifties this was one of my favorites.

I loved that this was about older people who have lived, loved and learned through the lessons in life. It shows that love never dies but is always there to be reborn even if you aren’t young. I loved how the author brings out the passion of an older couple showing that even older men and women can be sexy, exciting, thrilling but still do it in a clean way as you are pulled in knowing just how each feels you get so excited for them hoping they will find their HEA. There is nothing like an adult love where you already worked through most of the tough things in life and really ready to over look the small things and save the fights for what is really important. I found myself laughing out loud in my car at lunch my co workers thought I was nuts. This is just so much fun to read the characters are a hoot each brings so much to the story. This is a wonderful clean read that is full of passion showing that even if you are older you can still be passionate. I hope when I am their age I can still show my husband just what he means to me as these two people have.

This is really a fun, humorous read that pulls you in keeping you entertained but showing you just how true love should be. Everything might not go our way but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun and put tons of passion into a relationship when we get over the hill as they say. I love the sassy, spunky women who tell it like it is. Who aren’t afraid to stand up and let their voice be heard. Denni had her love, her marriage, lost her husband and raised her family. She isn’t looking for a man but she sure found love and so much more in Hart. These two couples find out that love at their age can still be fun, full of passion that makes you feel like young teens again. First they have to get over their broken hearts put the past behind them.

I loved how this author shows and captures the true feelings of how it is to start over again at an older age. There are still fears of the unknown, can you build a life again at this age, how strong love can feel at any age. I can’t imagine losing my husband or even dating again, that would be hard things have changed so much since I was young. If all the above happened and I got enough nerve to love again I would love to be like this couple in this book. To know life isn’t over when you hit 50 or even 60 and there is someone out there that feels just like you would be amazing.

Here is a couple that has a past but not together. It is hard to forget it but they must put their past behind them before they can move on. Before they can truly love each other. I just loved this story along with the characters and supporting characters that keep me laughing out loud. This series has been so much fun to read. I can’t wait to read the next one in it. I raise my glass to Ms. Hatfield she has out done herself in the heartwarming touching read. I love the plot, the characters and the humor. Another great read I could not put down.

A romance of mature people

This story is unusual in that our lovers are in their 50's. One is the mother of the Thompson brothers and the other is a former bullrider turned businessman who moves to town. I really enjoyed reading a story of someone closer to my age.

Ester or Nana as the family calls her is a prominent character in this story. She is both wise and spunky. Ester tells Denni “Everyone gets a turn at being stupid. You’ve used yours up, though, so I expect better behavior from here on out.”

My only complaint may seem trivial. Denni who is in her mid-50's is described as fit and stylish enough to be mistaken for her 30's. So is Hart. I am 58. I don't want to be mistaken for someone younger. I am what I am. I also don't believe that looking younger than you are equates to attractiveness. Maturity has its merits.

Denni is the mom to three sons who have all recently fallen in love. She lost her husband 8 years ago, he was her one and only love, she feels like she had her chance and is now meant to be alone. In comes Hart who has fallen hard for Denni after closing his heart to love 20 some years ago. While Denni feels guilty for having feelings for another man her family tries to convince her Drew would have wanted her to move on. I loved the way the family interacted with each other, supporting, pushing and teasing one another. I am sad that my time spent on the Triple T ranch with the Thompson family has come to an end. Enjoyed this series.

Denni Thompson has been a widow for almost eight years. Having been married for thirty years, she never wants to risk having her heart broken again.

Suffering a tragic marriage when he was a young bull rider, Hart Hammond has spent the last twenty years building a successful business rather than looking for love.

The Cowboy's New Heart is the fifth book in the Grass Valley Cowboys series by Shanna Hatfield. I adore the Thompson brothers, and this story of their mother finding love again was fantastic. This contemporary romance was such a fun read that it was easy to forget this couple's age.

I purchased a paperback copy of this book.

This is THE BEST of the series!!

As a 53 year old woman, this touched my heart down to the souls of my feet!
I loved it, every moment of it! I'm just glad Denni's mother gave her what for cause I was hollering up a storm when I got to that point!
It all made sense as I read on so all's well. LOL
So much of this resonated with me. Denni may be a few years older than me as I think she was born in 1958, and I was born in 1970, but as an older woman reading this, I understood so much and it filled my heart.
