Our hero is desperate to find his young daughter who was taken from him by her mother. He's shocked to discover his wife has died and that four year old Genie has been living with her nanny, now foster mother, ever since. Genie has been Zoe's miracle child. Even though she had tried very hard to find next of kin for the child, she was filled with love the the little girl and was very happy to be her mother. Now both James and Zoe have to decide just how much they love the little girl and who is going to be the one to give her up. This is a lovely love story, one willed with joyful moments and some tearful ones too.

I had read A Royal Romance by Valerie Parv and thought that book was well written, the story was good with minor flaws, so of course I had to read other books by Valerie. But this one disappointed me. It's like she had the chance to get a book in this Silhouette Romance series and she had 1-2 months to write this, so of course the quality would be bad.
Oh.. and I almost forgot... the cover.. girl... the man on the cover doesn't even match the slightest of the man in the book. like... a head taller than most people, she only reached his shoulder, his broad chest, golden skin, everything... come on!
Sorry, I'm mad and annoyed...
I had to make a double take at the author to make sure it actually was one of Valerie's books because it didn't seem to be of the same quality as A Royal Romance. Writing-wise this book wasn't as well formulated as the first, and I got a serious whiplash from the emotional back and forth from the main characters. "he likes me too right? he hates me he just wants Genie and get her out of his life! He wanted her as much as her, she could see it in the desire in his eyes!" Come on!!!
And they can't read each other at all, apparently! and then on page 136, James says she shouldn't take up poker because she was so easy to read! Seriously?!
Enemies to lovers can be good, but this! No thank you, it was so confusing and annoying... And all their problems could have been solved, if they only had communicated!!! There wasn't even a good reason why they couldn't use their words and explain themselves.
Other than that, I don't buy the fact that a doctor would let a bullet sit in a person's neck, they would know a bullet will wander through the body, what if it had wonder to the heart, it's not unheard of. And what was that about sitting in a flying helicopter, but they talk freely? HELICOPTERS ARE SO LOUD WHAT THE FUCK! This is not even the first book I have read where the author hasn't thought of this. It surprises me that it got through the betas, developmental edit and copy edit. The entire book actually...

Why did James not seem much affected by his surgery? HE seemed totally fine from the text, and seemed to have a lot of energy.

James is looking for his daughter Genevieve "Genie" that (his ex-wife disappeared with her and then died). Falls for the foster mom. Good take on and good characters for a common romance story.
