Nineteen year old Liv is suffocating under the burden of the person she was raised to be. When she meets up-and-coming musician, Jamie, she gets caught up in another life. She soon learns that this escape has set her up for the hardest choice of her life; to be happy or to feel alive.
This book pulled me in with its atmosphere and didn’t let go. Her Favorite Song by GLS Willman feels like one of those stories where the mood does just as much work as the plot—raw, emotional, and a little haunting. The writing has this quiet intensity to it that builds under your skin instead of hitting you all at once. The connection between the characters? Messy in the way that feels real. Not perfect, not easy—but layered, complicated, and worth watching unfold. You can feel the tension, the longing, the things left unsaid… and that’s what makes it hit. That said, it wasn’t a full 5⭐️ for me. There were moments where the pacing slowed just a little too much, and I wanted certain emotional beats to go deeper or hit harder. But overall? This is the kind of book you sit with.
I’ve been in my Rockstar romance era lately, so I had a feeling I was going to enjoy this one!! And I was absolutely right cause I loved Jamie and Liv’s story but what I loved most is how this book doesn’t just give you a romance, it gives you a choice. The kind that lingers long after you finish. Happiness vs. feeling alive? Safe vs. real? It’s messy, emotional, and so painfully relatable.
The writing pulls you in gently, but the emotions hit hard. It’s one of those stories that feels like a song you can’t stop replaying, soft at first, then all consuming.
If you love emotional reads, self discovery, and a romance that means something, this one is for you.
Thank you Christy for the arc and a chance to read and review your book. It did not disappoint.
I couldn't stop reading this book!!! I was hooked. Liv finding Jamie & him knocking on her car window was meant to happen ♥️ they both needed to find each other. Liv needed to find herself, experience love, live life for herself & learn that people cared for her. Jamie needed to to fall in love & accept that he was loved!!! I absolutely recommend this book 😊 Thank you so much Christy for the ARC!!! I'm so Excited to read book two
4.5 ⭐ Olivia runs away from a family dinner and lands squarely in the path of Jaime, aspiring musician. She is immediately swept up in his life and his friend group, moving into their shared house that same evening.
Liv and Jaime have a whirlwind of a time. Liv is 19 and that shines true on her behavior and certainly in Jaime. This is a drama filled, sometimes toxic, new adult romance and as wild as things seem, it drove me nuts because it felt very true to that age and how tumultuous things are. You should give this a try if you like: - summers on the cusp of maturity - drama and impulsive characters - a tight friend group - musician x girl figuring it out Spice level:🌶️.5/5
Thank you to the author for a review copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
This book was full of drama in the best way possible! It was very fun and addictive! There’s also a house full of roommates we get to follow, so there’s always something happening. The characters had their flaws which made them so much more relatable. I’m very excited for the next book!
I could not put this book down !! It’s almost 2 am currently and I needed to finish this. It was messy in the best way , a bit toxic. Liv and Jamie have a lot to learn and navigating that through this book you see the depth in the messy emotions but also the found family for liv. I can’t wait for book 2 because I need to find out what happens next !!!!
Her Favorite Song by CLS Willman is a rockstar romance that had me hooked from the very first page. I absolutely loved reading this book and it is definitely one of my favorite reads of the year! I finished it in one night because I simply could not put it down! I really loved the author’s writing style, it made for the characters to feel incredibly authentic and relatable, pulling me even deeper into the story. This book was able to get me out of a slump after reading so much dark fantasy; it is literally the perfect palette cleanser. The story introduces the FMC Olivia, a college girl who is struggling with family issues and is unsure of what to do with her life. One night, she meets a musician named Jaime and she learns that there is more to life than everything she’s ever known. I have to say, I really enjoyed Jaime’s character, he was really fun, intriguing, and full of surprises, and I really enjoyed figuring out what was going on with him. I also enjoyed reading about all the other supporting characters in the friendship group, and the relationship Olivia was able to develop with them. I highly recommend this book to any fellow reader who enjoys a light hearted, quick and simple, rockstar romance! I enjoyed how this story wrapped up and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
Holy smokes! My throat is killing me from the amount of times I have laughed and yelled at this book! Absolutely loved the characters and the plot line of the book!
A super easy read. It’s a great love story for those who enjoy getting straight to the point and characters fast-falling into love. The author does an amazing job capturing the toxicity of falling in love at a young age while trying to find who you are as you go.
The book is written in third-person which does leave a disconnect between yourself and the characters, but it’s a nice change of pace from a first-person point of view. I’d recommend this to anyone in their senior year of high school or early years of college. It’s simple, fast paced, and easy to enjoy.
There are some moments where it can be a little confusing because of the perspective you’re given; you have to use context clues to really understand what point of view the speaker is trying to portray, but otherwise it’s not difficult to follow along. For a moment we experience a little love triangle which really plumps the plot. However, there are things that I wish were more involved. Her family is mentioned multiple times, but we don’t get to see any of the interactions besides a phone call. It’s possible this is expanded in book two, but I haven’t started it quite yet.
All-in-all, it was a nice read and I look forward to starting book two to learn more about the characters and where they end up.
This rockstar romance was my first and definitely my favorite!
Instantly, I loved the atmosphere and prose of the book. The author does such a great job with her storytelling and prose; her writing gave me no other choice but to be completely captivated.
I love the characters, especially their relationships with one another! They found comfort in each other's arms and reciprocated a warmth that soothed their worries. The main characters unconditionally loved each other and was there when they needed them the most.
Moreover, I loved the themes and subtle messages incorporated in this story. It had an emotional impact on me from complicated feelings and some raw truth. It was what I needed. I really love this book, definitely go give this a try!!!
This was a good easy short read. I loved the fact that the MMC was a “rockish” guy, but i wish him being a “rockstar” was talked about more, such as him performing, him having gigs, etc.. It was mentioned that he would be in the studio here and there and that he sang, but that was mostly the jist of it. (Hopefully that made sense lol Hopefully, his career is talked about more in the 2nd book. Overall, this seemed like a good easy YA book. Spice level was like maybe a 1. Maybe even .5. I did enjoy it for sure!
