Ghost Dream
The 80 big hair, spandex, great European alt-rock, and a movement to mainstream porn movies with actual stories, lavish sets and attractive actors that appealed to women. Conversely the status of women in the USA plummeted to the lowest point since the 1950s.
Dawn Knight, a repressed housewife, lives a 1950s life, a prisoner in her own house. As the decade comes to a close, Dawn starts having someone else’s dreams. The woman whose experience she lives through dreams is a Ghost Dancer and Dreamer from the 19th century, always watched by a red chestnut Mustang stallion with blue eyes. Lore states he can see spirits. The dreams haunt Dawn’s sleep and consume her waking hours. Although Dawn doesn’t understand the message, it’s a clarion call that now is the time to save her own life.
On impulse, with her rebellious teen daughter in tow, Dawn runs from her dictatorial husband and bolts across the country with a mysterious man, able to explain Dawn’s dreams. Oddly enough, this man looks exactly like a famous murdered porn star. What really happened to Shiloh Red, anyhow?
From Colorado to Kansas, to California and ultimately Montana, this is a near-historical Western that weaves stories from the 19th century into the 20th with mythic twists along the way.

This excellent work from K.L. Emanuelson boasts captivating characters with enigmatic connections to the past and an unpredictable narrative that explores the meaning of dreams, the nature of desire and the consequences of following the wrong path. This profound, rich, absorbing book is a must read.
