Meet Kilala, an ordinary girl who loves all the Disney Princesses. When she awakens a sleeping prince named Rei, she magically gains the power of the princesses! Rei is searching for the missing princess of his world, and has a magical tiara that will lead him to her. But before Kilala can help him find the missing princess and restore peace to his world, Kilala's best friend, Erica, is kidnapped by mysterious men! So, with the help of the magical tiara and Rei, Kilala sets off on a quest to find her!
This next installment was fun, and I like the addition of an “antagonist” in Sylphy just to make Kilala’s life even harder, haha. I also really enjoyed seeing Belle and Aurora get their times to shine, even if they were much briefer then the previous princesses have gotten. Also the storyline was much tighter and didn’t meander like Volume 3 did which was nice (though this cover is somehow worse then 3… *shudder* I do NOT like the covers of this series!).
That said, I have some issues with it, mainly how things that feel important to have more info on we get nothing—for example Sylphy says she’s Rei’s fiancé, but this is never addressed by ANYONE if this is true or not, and it’s never even brought up again even though it’s rather important. If I were Kilala I’d want to know the answer to that! And all that would have to be done is Rei saying it wasn’t true or something, but it’s never addressed again. So why have it in there…???? 🤷🏼♀️ Other minor things are treated in the same “mention then gone and never brought up again” manner which kinda started bugging me. I can deal with a few things but for it to be repeated over and over gets old FAST, and I’m not a fan.
Still a fun installment, and I’m curious to see how it all ends.
Content: magic; magical objects and creatures; a girl wears really short shorts and a bikini top; violence and fighting (nothing over PG); characters smack and beat up each other; girls wear bikini tops and spilt skirts; a guy tries to kiss a girl without her consent (he’s stopped); thorns stab people and draw a little blood; a kiss; betrayal; characters are captured and tied up; characters fall off a cliff; characters are shot at

Kilala and Rei continue their request to collect the gems for the tiara and save Paradiso, visiting different Disney princesses. But this time they are joined by Sylphy, a woman claiming to be Rei's fiancée. Will she help or hurt their cause?
We get two princesses in this one, which messes with the pacing a bit, but it does make the story progress more quickly.
I am a bit disappointed in how this series is going. What initially intrigued me about this series is what is falling particularly flat now. The whole princess plot just isn't working for me. I don't find the princess messages all that helpful. They are very vague things like believe in love. Kilala mostly just finds inspiration in them being in love rather than actually learning anything from them.
Sylphy only exists to be a direct foil to Kilala with a more "mature" beauty, questionable motivations, and tendency to complain. She could have been a really interesting character but is just treated as a plot devise.
There are also some weird elements chosen to include in a children's book such as a jealous love rival, belly dancer costumes to distract a bar full of men, and more guns. Gaston hitting on Kilala was particularly weird for me.
I am still enjoying the overall plot of finding the different gems and working to save Paradiso. I'll finish the series out but it just isn't living up to the promise of the first book.
I sense some revisionist Disney in the Sleeping Beauty world, but I guess that's fine. They needed to do something I guess.
This is probably the first time I've thought this with this manga, but there is one scene I would love to see animated because I think it would look really cool. In Aurora's world, there's a magical dress change, and I think that would look really cool animated because it looks pretty nifty in still frame.
A character was thrown in with almost zero explanation or introduction. That could have been done more gracefully.
Still entertaining. Still want to see how this ends, even if that ending's pretty obvious because Disney formula.
sooooo adorable but seriously, this is the time to talk to Belle and Kilala about domestic abuse. seriously.
The more we go on, the more Kilala reminds me of Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket. There is one frame in particular in this volume where she looks exactly like Tohru (who I adore) and she acts like her so much, except the violent parts (ha!). The romance is so sweet, and these kisses are some of the very best in manga EVER. With all that, the story still manages to be hilarious as well - it's a great translation.
As one can guess from the cover this volume covers Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty. I find that both were handled well enough. Both whad great execution muddled by awkward ideas or a poor finale to the Disney tale/arc. The Beauty and the Beast part was spectacular except for the art and the dance scene with . I feel like the artist really struggled with the Beauty and the Beast section. The art felt simpler and their was far fewer backgrounds. I don't have much to say for the Sleeping Beauty part. It was amazing until its finished with a super rushed ending. Like, you blink and the Sleeping Beauty part ends quickly and abruptly. My real main conflict with this volume that brought it down to 3 stars was the new character introduced. However the ending of this volume gives me hope they'll improve their characterization for the final volume.
It was very cute and I was glad that they ended up in Beauty and the Beast. Belle was so darn cute and welcomed them right away. And then this broad Sylphy shows up and she's all over Rei. It turns out that she's from a neighboring kingdom and she followed Rei to be with him because apparently they're betrothed. And then Belle helps them out when Sylphy screws things up with the Beast and he wants to get rid of them all from his castle. But then they throw away his watch and it was supposed to be a gift for belle but it also had the gem in it so they rush to get it back and he gives it to Belle and she gives the gem to Kilala and of course it goes into the tiara: Amber. They even had to fight Gaston over the gem. It was actually quite funny to watch him be defeated again. Bigheased ass hat. And from there they jump right into the land of Princess Aurora. She's having a birthday ball. The fairies help them change but Kilala ends up dressed as a maid and is sent to do servant work while Sylphy and Rei get to attend the ball. And princess Aurora is of so sweet and kind and then this chick shows up Malicent which we all know is really Maleficent. Princess Aurora helps kilala and tells her not to give up on Rei. And that she must always fight. She even tells the story of her and Prince Philip. She told her to not give up on love. She helped out a little girl and it was a relative of prince Philip. And then of course Maleficent attacks and Kilala tries to save everyone. They all struggle and then the tiara reacts and ends up defeating Maleficent. Then Aurora gives Kilala another gem for the tiara: rose quartz. Onto the next land that turns out is Paradiso. Then Valdou is there and turns out Sylphy led them there so she could get married to Rei. Well they end up escaping and Kilala goes back for Sylphy and she is stubborn and then people who are against Valdou shelter them. Then they have to run away again. And Kilala and Rei get away and jump over a cliff and Sylphy rides in and saves them. She's not really a good person. It’s all for selfish gain because she wants to marry Rei. Then of course Valdou shows up again. I swear these people have more lives than a cat.
All in all, it’s a very cute story, and I like that she keeps meeting the princesses it’s just becoming the same old, same old, and I want more action and less whining. I just feel like it’s all the same book even though it’s different because of the princesses but they keep getting away somehow and surviving everything and I guess that’s OK because it’s a good story then. But I don't know but these are lighthearted but not a reread for me.

The worst one yet, and tbh I skimmed. We have a new character - basically a woman whose only purpose is to be slut shamed and show how much better Kilala is (why aren't we past this yet??). The 'Bad Girl' is the only one to stand up to The Beast and basically calls him out on his nonsense and abusive behaviour, and then because its The Bad Girl doing it, all the other characters are like 'sorry she hurt your feelings, she's really mean' and then Belle is like 'he's misunderstood'. Gag. This is the lesson for Kilala to learn????? and thus the reader.
I hated this
(I don't normally read manga, but I agreed to try some out for The Amazing Readathon as it was a quick way to get some points for my team.)
I really enjoyed Belle, I think she was well done and the Beast acted just like he did in the movie. I think it can be hard to keep with the movie when you're adding on to the story-- but they didn't fail!! Belle was the perfect person to help Kilala grow here. And Slyphy is a fun character. She has some character growth and becomes a better person-- she was handled well. The Sleeping Beauty part was soooo short though... It wasn't bad, but I kind of wish it wasn't so quick. But anyway, this was still really good!
Valdou is main villain so he make things interesting in this story. Kilala, rei n new girl named sylphy who said that she's Rei's fiancee n she's also the princess of floradiso always called rei as darling. First they headed to Beauty & the beast world to sleeping beauty world n finally they headed to Aladdin world where kilala & her friends meet Aladdin & jasmine but the guards took Aladdin n they think that Aladdin kidnapped princess jasmine.

Kilala and Rei continue the search for gems to power the tiara, only to stumble across his fiancé, Sylphy, who joins them in the realms of Belle and Aurora - but can the trio overcome their differences to help the princesses and get back to Paradiso? Tanaka and Kodaka will keep fans hooked with more cute banter and entertaining suspense in this entertaining entry. What will Kilala learn from her new friends that can help on her journey to being a princess?
This was the perfect ending to the series. Meeting Belle and Jasmine were favorite moments of mine. Though I will say I expected more from Disney. They need editors on this one. There were moments when it seemed they got ahead of themselves and forgot how to spell. But that is coming from someone who writes and edits... so... The story line went along well. Short and sweet battle and then a princess who isn't afraid to get dirty for her people's sake.
Ok. So. I don't like shoving two princesses into one volume. And I feel like the pacing was off and the plot was all over the place; I honestly thought I'd skipped pages or whole passages at some points.
However. I will say that having two princesses with different art styles along with the og style does serve to highlight the illustrator's artistic skill?
Kilala Princess Volume 4 featured two princesses. It was cute, and the conflict became more dire. I wanted more story about Rei and his kingdom, and I got that in this book.
Same adorable plot and characters as I've always loved!! Quite a but rushed but I can't not love it, I've loved these books since I found the first ones back in middle school, I'm 22 now and they're FINALLY finishing them, just so happy (:
this volume Rei and Kilala are in the story the little mermaid. Rei gets kiddnapped by Ursula. Ursula plans to marry Rei in order to crown queen.[Rei is the prince of Paradiso. Kilala didn't know that until she saw Ursula.]Ursula told Kilala about Rei and that she is worthless.but since Kilala likes Rei so much and she has many friends that can't be replaced she went on and fought Ursula using the crown her wish got granted, saving Rei.then got Rei back.she gets homeand her mom and dad came back but Rei had to go back to his kingdom since it's falling apart.now Kilala has to say goodbye to Rei until he comes back which will nbe pretty long. johanna ma 100 pages
When I first picked this up I absolutely loved the idea of a manga with Disney princesses in it. Unfortunately, the series fell a little flat for me. Kilala was at best annoying and over the top girly. A little is ok but she is all hearts and butterflies up in her own little world. As much as I fell in love with Disney and wanted to love this series I was struggling to just get through it. The drawing however was fabulous with well-defined character emotions. The Disney princesses and other characters were amazing too.
