Wow, this series is getting GOOD! I can't put it down! The glorious battle, the drama, the angst, the plot twists! It all just keeps on coming! The action is amazing, but it's the drama and the suspense that really get you in this book. The dynamic between Ageha and Shindo was a lot more complex than I though, and I hurt for Ageha that he could never make Shindo understand that he was his equal. I actually cried when Shindo died, it was so beautifully and tragically portrayed. I was thrilled to get a deeper look into Nagi's character when he and Sarasa were arguing after Senju tried to assassinate Tatara. Nagi has been her guide, at least in spirit and through his teachings, through all she's been through, and it was quite something to watch him continue to counsel her, even though it drove a bit of a wedge between them - even at the end when she took off for Kanto, she only peeked her head in shyly to say good-bye. Nagi and Kaku really are like her surrogate mother and father (but which is which?). That does make me wonder what ever became of her real mother. I hope they'll meet again. The scene between Shuri and Sarasa at the hot spring was mind-blowing. They are both violently hell bent on killing each other, yet at the same time they are falling in love with each other, never knowing that the person they love is also the person they hate most. Phenomenal! And now they are traveling together, which is so cute and sweet, but also so heartbreaking both undercover, using each other, and still they don't know they have become allies and friends with their mortal enemies - everyone's in the dark! I say again - phenomenal! I wonder what will happen in the next book; it looks like this race that they've been press-ganged into should be quite a battle itself! On to the next volume!
my favourite volume so far. chapter 14 was on a whole other level. shido's death was so shocking and gruesome, and the moment he finally realized that sarasa and shuri love each other without knowing.... SO GOOD.
on another note, i can't take bald shuri seriously 💀

It did it! Volume 4 earned four stars! I'm so glad. I didn't want to go through this whole series with a "meh" feeling. The story was interesting enough that I would have, though, but with all the great reviews of this series I would have been seriously disappointed if "meh" was all I got from this.
I think the problem was in my connection to the characters - or the lack of one. But in this volume I became invested in who these characters are, what they feel, and what they're trying to accomplish. I'm very much looking forward to the next volume.
I'm so glad we saw Ageha deal with Shido's ignorance by the end of this manga, it was giving me weird vibes throughout the volume. So finally seeing him reflect on his and Shido's relationship and say what he wished would happen gave the situation a lot of clarity. Secondly, Shuri and Sarasa's ginormous amount of ignorance about who each other is, is honestly the reason why I keep reading this. It's INCREDIBLY entertaining.
OKAY. This was neat. I’m getting hyped for this! Seeing the conflict spelled out in this volume was a nice move since my dumbass didn’t think about it until now. And it such an amazing conflict, too, that renegotiates the „good“ and the supposedly „bad“ characters/actions/decisions. Also, I loveee how the heroine and villain have the same goal and would actually make great allies if they hadn’t been pitched against another since birth. Hnngh that’s good stuff.
fighting back against and killing your oppressors does not make you the same as them. anyway rest in piss to that tyrant and boohoo to his pregnant princess wife.
Sarasa and Team separates while they rebuild Sakura Island as their Tatara Headquarters. She infiltrates into Blue Kingdom. She meets up with Shuri and together they travel into the kingdom of poverty and hopelessness.
Langsung mematung deh... Alhasil kepanah dulu ... Matiiiiii ....
SHIDOO MATIII HUWAAAAAA NANGIS SAYA ...
Paling stres waktu liat wajah Shuri.
This volume gives us the conclusion of the battle between Tatara and Shido. It doesn't end well for all parties, naturally. With this kind of series and everyone believing they're on the right side, that's just not possible, at least, not at this point. Maybe someday, though it won't happen unless everyone can let go of their hatred and vengeance. Right now, they're all in an endless loop and it just doubled back on Sarasa because of what happened to Shido.
Curiously, or not, Shuri seeks out Sarasa's company for comfort in the aftermath. If he only knew, he wouldn't be so quick to rest on her lap.
At least now, they knew where the Suzaku sword is and the Tatara Army has a new base of operations. Things don't slow down, though. A messenger from the Blue King shows up at Sakurajima to propose an alliance to take out the Red King. Sarasa isn't moved by that, though because she can't work with a guy that's willing to kill his own brother. She did agree to go to Kanto, though because apparently, the Blue Army has found the Byakko sword that she dropped during Sakurajima's rising and has taken it back there. Now, she's set out on a journey and is using Shuri as a traveling camouflage (he had asked her to come with him because he's basically using her in the same way), but it's not that simple. The two of them end up captured as runaway slaves and now they're stuck in some kind of race that isn't quite what it seems...
Nah inilah jadinya kalau seseorang seperti saya mementingkan cover diatas segalanya.
Nagi calling Sarasa and the Red King one and the same!!
Sarasa is starting to learn that things aren't black and white and that the people she's fighting aren't just faceless enemies and I love it. I also loved how Hayato was conflicted over killing Shido. Wars aren't bloodless and these poor kids are just finding that out.
Of course the moments between Sarasa and Shido were cute. The only time they're able to be themselves is with each other, which is both sweet and tragic.
The scene near the end, , is so haunting.
I can't wait to see what happens in the next volume with the "race" and what will happen with the Blue King.
Man, talk about a tragic love affair.. I'm surprised by how much I love this, actually, but this is charming, compelling and suspenseful. It takes a lot for me to really like an m/f pairing, but this one here is quite something. *sigh*
