Naveed is a science writer and editor and has written for a variety of national publications. Naveed's first book with a major publisher (Writer's Digest Books/F+W Media) was released in early 2014. The book is titled "The Complete Guide to Article Writing: How to Write Successful Articles for Online and Print Markets." This book became an Amazon bestseller and was translated into Mandarin. In March 2019, "The Writer's Guide to Self Editing: Essential Tips for Online and Print Publication" (McFarland) was released.
I'm in my second year of professional writing and journalism. After 15 months of writing news pieces and features on a daily basis, I wanted to brush up on some of my techniques and find fresh ideas. While sitting in Barnes & Noble (working on an article), I decided to browse the Publishing section for a helpful resource; I saw this book sitting on the shelf, and decided - since it was published by WD - to take a look.
Naveed Saleh did an excellent job providing the sort of information for which I was looking! In fact, though some of the material was review, there was a treasure trove of tips, techniques, and insights that I have never encountered. After finishing the book, I realized that I had gleaned more helpful information from this text than I did in any of the formal Journalism or Media courses I have taken (as an English Lit undergrad student).
Definitely a great resource for amateurs and experts alike.
Stumbled across this book and was delighted by what I found. There is so much information packed into this book, and it is organized extremely well. It is a must read for anyone who is trying to get their work published. I have recommended it to several people and have received great feedback.
The book was chock full of good advice on writing for online and print publications. Some of the information was out-of-date, which is to be expected in the fast-changing publishing world, but I still learned a lot. Writers don’t just write articles. They have to research on the topic but also research publishers. They have to pitch what they’ve written and develop a relationship with the publishers of the magazines they write for. And they have to have a presence online. Saleh even goes into contracts. As a fiction writer and occasional writer of articles, this was a helpful book.
I have picked this book based on recommendation of my friend who is not a journalist but have a strong desire to convey his message through words. He has high regards for this piece of work.
Once I have completed reading, I have similar feeling about the title. It is not only good for expert but equally appropriate for the new entrants. Great insights.
Naveed Saleh has written a very informative book packed with tips titled, The Complete Guide to Article Writing. It is jam-packed with information covering everything you could possibly think of in regards to publishing an article. It doesn't have too much on flash fiction but is more for journalism style writing and newspapers. Regardless, it has an abundance of writing tips and is set up anyway that is easy on the eyes. He breaks things into categories and follows his own advice. This is the second time I'm reading it and will continue to hold on to it in my personal library so I can refer to it regularly.
Excellent Guide! It has very straightforward instructions and insightful advice. I have already recommended this read to a quite a few writers I am acquainted with.
