Here for the first time is an anthology that reflects the diversity of the war experience, bringing together the words of all those who were affected by the war - the poets, the ordinary soldiers, and the civilians left behind.
Nice collection. Flowed through various themes of the war including post war. Light hearted occasionally but mostly a stark display of the brutal realities of war. The longing for home, endless destruction and the constant spectre of death.
Great selection of WWI poetry, organized by theme to correspond to psychological and cultural changes over the course of the war. The only quibble I have is that the poems are never given dates, which sometimes makes Walter's placement of them seem nebulous.
