I love the Magic School Bus books. Legomeister loved these for years, and now Little Miss is starting to request them.
The Scholastic Readers are nice for bedtime stories because they're shorter, and of course, they're great for early readers. They're more difficult than some easy readers, a little longer with more challenging words. The writing feels choppy; that's a side effect of simplifying it. But I think they do a good job of keeping the story fun and informative. They definitely hold the interest of my Magic School Bus Fans.
You just about can't go wrong with the Magic School Bus series. Solid education wrapped into a fun package that will leave your young readers asking for more. The supportive and mutually respectful relationship between teacher Ms. Frizzle (affectionately "The Friz") and her students sets a great example as they go off on their learning field trips. In this edition they take the unlikely route of a night adventure in search of bats, their homes and habitats, and as always, learn quite a bit on the way.
K really got into the Magic School Bus books when he noticed that there is a lot of information within the book about certain animals or science or whatever fun filled adventure the kids get to go on. The books are always filled with fun facts about whatever adventure the kids and Ms. Fizzle go on. In this story they are learning about bats that are near one of the student's home. We learn how bats sleep, how they can find their food and other interesting facts about bats.
