This sexy single dad is about to a get a different outlook on love…
Dr. Lucas Kade is starting over. He’s just moved back to his small hometown, set up his medical practice, and is slowly beginning to put the mess of his soon-to-be divorce behind him. Not to mention figuring out how to juggle being a father on weekends and every other holiday situation. But when he accidentally nearly kills his parents’ dog, the dog isn’t the only one with a whole new dilemma, Lucas comes face to face with the woman he once kissed during his hormonal teenage years.
It just so happens that veterinarian Dr. Abby Call is also riding the post-divorce train. What started off years ago as a teenage crush could easily become something much less innocent between these two newly single adults. Now they just need to find out if they’re nothing more than each other’s rebounds or if this is their second chance at love.
Throw in Lucas’s five-year-old son, a meddling mother, and an overprotective Labrador, and this budding romance is only about to get more complicated. Different With You is the first sweet and sexy standalone story from the Matchbox series by author E.H. Lyon.
Evey writes heartwarming romances with steamy moments, often in small-town settings with an element of sports. An American from the Midwest, she now lives in a tiny country in Europe where it rains a lot. That is probably why she occupies her days typing away on her laptop with music on repeat and slow-roast coffee nearby. Oh, and she vows to never break up with cake.
Starting off with the plot—two divorced doctors, who have acted on a teen fantasy of their own a few years ago, find an enhanced spark back after an accidental meeting. Turns out the male lead, Lucas, who has a kid, Theo, comes back to his small hometown—Sage Creek. It is about what this couple experiences and how they adjust and grow in the timeframe of the book.
What I liked about this book was how lucidly it was written. Rationally supportive side characters, no unnecessary drama and no troublesome ex. The story was as close to real life as it could be.
Lucas is the dashing doc everyone gets in line for as soon as he is on the market😉. He is gentle, straightforward and mature. He's this light-hearted cool guy everyone can only dream of. I liked how dedicated he was to Theo, was even ready to spark things up with his wife to make it work but it's sad it didn't happen. Not much mentioned about his skills as a doctor, something I wished was penned down.
Abby is the definition of sunshine-female trope. She is sweet, hard-working and an excellent doctor. Loved how her skills were described! Also, her maturity and ability to stand up for herself and make her life count was depicted well. Obviously, Theo had to like her.
And Theo is sooo cute! I love him sooo much! It was good to see his bond with Abby grow. Kids and dogs go very well. Romeo won him over!! Describing a child's innocence requires a lot of work and experience. And Lucas' mom. OMFG! What does she eat to be so blunt and open-minded. Maybe it was too much. She needs to shut her mouth sometimes lmao.
I will recommend it to readers who aren't looking for in-depth romance, but something with real situations which happen in the world. Will definitely read the next book in the series! :D
4.5 star Review Different With You (Matchbox #1)by E. H. Lyon
For the last few years I have been gravitating to single parent stories, add in that it is set in a small town and I couldn’t wait to dive in. I loved Different With You by new to me author E.H.Lyon. I love finding new authors and this was an entertaining read which left me with a smile on my face and I cannot wait to read more in the series.
Both Dr. Lucas Kade and veterinarian Dr. Abby Call have history, having kissed when they were teenagers. Now they are both recovering from divorces and Lucas is also struggling as he comes to terms with being a single dad to Theo.
When they came face to face again, will it be a rebound romance or could this be the start of something wonderful? Both are successful in their chosen fields and lead busy lives but neither can resist the sparks that sizzle between them.
From the first chapter to the last I was invested in Lucas and Abby’s story. It was heart warming, sweet romantic and Theo was a great secondary character. Can Lucas and Abby re-connect and make a future together or are they destined to remain alone? One click and find out.
I wish Abby didn’t change her mind about having kids in the epilogue. Firstly, her reasons for changing her mind didn’t seem concrete enough and secondly, it would’ve been a good opportunity for a romance book to show that women can decide not to have kids and still have a happy relationship.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So. boring. I read the first half, skimmed the second half. So much emphasis placed on a single high school make out session. Nothing about it captured my attention.
Different With You: A Small Town Friends to Lovers Romance (Matchbox Series Book 1) Written by E. H. Lyon
Recently I was lucky enough to read my first E.H. Lyon book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much I one clicked this book and book two which will bring me up to date in the Matchbox series.
How many people can say they solidified their relationship thanks to a Moose! Dr. Abby Call (a veterinarian) and Dr. Lucas Kade can lay claim to that exact statement.
Abby and Lucas have known one another for years, their parents were friends, they went to the same schools, all the things that could have set them up with their happily ever after before University. School, careers and marriages got in the way however and when both return to their hometown, Sage Creek, Colorado they end up meeting again over Abby’s patient table when Lucas shows up with his parent’s dog.
Both Abby and Lucas have recently ended marriages. Abby came back home to Sage Creek and took over for the retiring town Vet and Lucas came back taking over a family practice, Lucas also came with a four year old son Theo. Lucas and his ex share custody of Theo.
Where does the Moose come in, I’m getting there don’t worry. E.H. Lyon has given readers a lighthearted but lovely story about two old friends coming home, finding each other, dating and spending time with a dog and a little boy as well as their old friends. Over the course of the story though connections are made, a lot of hot steamy sex occurs and when a decision has to be made about a possible one-year move for Abby a Moose becomes the reason apologies are spoken and two friends who kissed once in school become two friends who have fallen in love.
This isn’t a long story, it flies by but it’s a heartwarming story. A story that makes you feel that if you work at things (and maybe hit a Moose) you might get the Doctor you realize you’re in love with.
Different With You is a story about finding love after divorce. Lucas and Abby are both from the same hometown and have known each other pretty much their whole lives. They shared a hot make-out session when Abby was in high school, but then they both went their separate ways and married other people.
They are both now back home trying to move on with their lives. When they first see each other again, the spark between them is undeniable. They are immediately attracted to one another, but scared to act on it since they are both getting over their past. Lucas has a son from his previous marriage and does not want to move on to quickly. Abby is scared to put herself out there again. Their relationship begins to develop very slowly. Just two friends getting to know one each other again, and then they can no longer deny what they both feel.
I like both Lucas and Abby, they were both strong characters that were not afraid to speak how they really feel. I felt like their was too much divorce talk. It was like every conversation they had with each other they brought up the divorce and what it did to them...it was just too much.
Overall, this book was good. It dragged on at times, but I enjoyed the storyline between the two main characters. It will be nice read the other books in this series.
HEA: Yes Cheating: No Couple Seperation: No Cheating: No
EH Lyon kicks off her Matchbox series with Different with You, a book about a sort-of second chance in more ways than one. Abby Call and Lucas Kade knew each other in high school and from the neighborhood. A brief interaction between them when young sticks in their memories even as both their lives take them in different directions. Now they are older and back in their home town--both divorced. It doesn't take much for the sparks to ignite and a relationship to blossom.
Along the way, we meet different people that we will see as this series progresses. Lucas and Abby form an excellent basis to start everything, though. I liked how the author created Abby's character; she's not afraid to speak her mind, and she's not sure she wants children or to be married again. She loves Lucas, but she's honest in how she feels about these things. I enjoyed reading how the dynamic played itself out with Lucas and Abby. Lucas' mother was an added charming addition to the book, and I hope we get more "advice" from her as the series moves along.
The book was sweetness and steam and a lovely storyline to fall in love with, so read how Different with You is a beautiful tale of love after divorce.
Different with You is book one in a small-town romance from E.H. Lyon. This is the story of finding love after divorce. It reads like a second chance romance but isn’t. Abby Call and Lucas Kade knew each other in high school and were family friends. Memories of a stolen moment in their youth have ignited a spark between them. Now both are older and back in their hometown-both divorced. It doesn’t take much for a relationship to follow. Abby and Lucas’ story are sweet but predictable. I do have hopes for the series. Lucas and Abby are a good start for the series. Abby's character is a strong character. She's not afraid to speak her mind, and she's not sure she wants children or to be married again. She loves Lucas, but she's honest in how she feels about these things. I enjoyed reading how the dynamic played itself out with Lucas and Abby. Lucas' mother was a charming addition to the book, and I hope we get more "advice" from her as the series moves along.
The book has plenty of sweetness and steam and a lovely storyline to fall in love with. Different with You is a beautiful tale of love after divorce. It is a well written story just felt a bit stale.
I simply adored this book and can’t wait for more from the Matchbox series. This is a new author to me and I loved her writing style. She gave us a wonderful storyline which flowed and kept me engrossed in the story from start to finish. As for the characters, they were very well defined and felt like family. This series is about a group of guys who were besties as youngsters and stayed close as adults and this first story is about Dr. Lucas Kade.
Lucas moved away from his hometown, married, had a son and became a successful doctor. But he is currently going through a divorce and thus moving back to his small hometown. When his parents doc gets sick he heads to the local vet and is shocked when he sees the new vet is an ole friend Abby. Abby has also moved back home due to a divorce. These two strike up a wonderful friendship, having someone to talk with their lives have taken this new turn. Could love be in the air? Or perhap friends with benefits? There is life after a divorece and this is an amazing romance that will warm your heart.
What was supposed to be just another day at the office suddenly became more when Abby's childhood crush, Lucas, pitched up at her rooms needing her to look at his parents' dog who ate a toy. Divorced herself she learned that he was also separated and just waiting for his divorce to be finalized. And the attraction was still there, as well as a keen interest to see where this could lead. Not one for playing around Abby is open about her interest and with Lucas keen to follow through they started dating. But dating the second time around needs a bit of navigating to see where this is going especially with Lucas having a little boy in the picture. This is a sweet love story about second chances, a chance to follow through on a childhood crush and take the chance on happiness life may be offering up. I loved the maturity of the characters and the honesty in which they communicated with each other. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book in the series. Its about two divorced friends, Abby, a Vet and Lucas, a doctor who grew up in the same small town and at one time they hoped for romance with each other but never followed thru. Now divorced they return to their town and find they still are attracted and want to get to know each other.
But they are very different people than they were in their youth. Lucas is a dad and Abby has a pet dog but is not really into marrying and having kids. As these two get to know each other again they fall in love and it was great to see them each moving on from divorce and finding love with each other.
I loved their gang of friends and how their moms liked to meddle in their lives. It was a fun story and things moved quickly and I couldn't put the book down.
I received a free ARC copy of books 1-3 in this series from the author so I can review this series and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Matchbox Series is off to a fantastic start with 'Different With You' a 2nd chance small town romance story. It is one of those books that just automatically brings a smile to your face when you think about it even when you have finished or like me writing this review.
Both Lucas and Abby are back in their hometown after many years away both now divorced he with a 4 year old son Theo that he shares custody of. Abby now owns the local veterinary practice and Lucas his own medical practice. Both have known each other since childhood and even shared a moment when teenagers and that spark doesn't seem to have gone out over the years. But now older and wiser the fates seems to keep bringing them together and the more time they spend together the more that flame grows. But is it something more or just a fling as they both now live life as single people. As they work this out there are other people to think about 4 year Theo for one and the dreams that Abby put on hold when she got married. But maybe or it will take is one Moose to clarify everything!
I really was impressed how E.H. Lyon dealt with these real issues that any couple could face.
I am so looking forward to who is up next in the series as we got to meet a few great people throughout the story and I was pleased to read that we keep up with Lucas and Abby throughout! Just love it!
A good sweet romance as a start to the series. This is the first book I've read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last because I am going to make sure I read the whole series. Especially Leo and Jess's story. I'm kinda sad that their book is not next, but we'll still get their story. I can't wait!
On to Lucas and Abby's story, they kind of kissed in high school but it didn't really pan out. 15 years later, both newly divorced and back in their hometown. Even now as adults, their chemistry is still undeniable. But now they need to navigate around Lucas being a single dad and whether this is going to their second chance or just a rebound.
I loved the relationship Lucas has with his adorable son, Theo. I wished Theo had made more appearances though, doesn't hurt to have all those cuteness. This story is definitely sweet, heartwarming, and well-written.
A vet and a doctor—both divorced, both moved back to town, and both still with a lingering attraction to one another. The two knew each other as teenager and once kissed. Now, they’re more experienced and wiser, but they still feel giddy as teenagers with each other. I liked the comradery—the friendliness, the shy looks, the awkward tenderness. Nice that they both wanted to go slow as they re-enter the dating scene after their divorces. But how long can they really wait? The two are constantly running into each other and are thrown together a lot. It gets tiring after a while. About 30% in, you want something different to happen besides the looks, the talks, and the flirty banter. Story was slow all the way. It’s a fairly nice read, but I just wish it was better and quicker.
You know every now and then you need a love story that is sweet and heartfelt. You definitely get these things within these pages. Just because this is a sweet read does not mean that the smexy times are any less hot. These two could melt your Kindles. If you are in need of a sweet cozy read then by all means grab yourself a copy of Different With You. I curled up on my couch, with my comfy blanket, and devoured this book. Lucas and Abby are perfect for each other and they are sure to give you a toothache with how sweet they are together. These two together make perfect sense. Now they do have a few issues, but nothing neither of them can deal with.
This is the 1st in a new series and is Lucas and Abby’s story. Lucas has just moved back to his hometown, and he is a doctor as well as a single dad, and when he comes face to face with Abby who is a veterinarian, the chemistry between them is sizzling. These two shared a kiss as teenagers and now the chemistry between them is undeniable. Both are newly divorced and vulnerable, but can they have a 2nd chance at love, or will it just be a rebound romance? This is a well written tale which is sweet, heartfelt, and a steamy little gem of a story. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend this story for all readers.
Dr. Lucas Kade (humans) & Dr. Abby Call (fur babies) knew each other in high school, and even had a moment but then they moved on to college so it's 15 years later before they come face to face again. They both move home after their marriages tank, and Lucas has an adorable tiny human son as well. Circumstances and/or fate has them coming face to face again, and lo & behold, that spark is still there with it getting stronger the more they interact. However, she's divorced while he's waiting on his papers so is this only a rebound situation?! Or is their second chance to get it right?! Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
A great start to The Matchbox Series by E.H. Lyon. I really enjoyed Lucas and Abby's story, I'm on a single parent kick at the minute so this book was right up my street.
Abby and Lucas shared a kiss years ago when they where younger but life took them both on different paths. Now they both find themselves back in their home town and newly divorced. As soon as the run into each other sparks fly but Lucas also has his little boy to think about, are they both ready for a new relationship and could this be their chance.
A great and well written story. I look forward to reading more from this series in the future.
This book had me at single dad and then throw in Abby is a veterinarian you have me sold. Plus I love books set in a small town. This book is a make you feel good story. Abby and Lucas both have moved back to their hometown to make a new start on life. They finally get the chance they wanted back when. Lucas' little boy is so adorable. He's a scene stealer for sure. This book brought the feels, but it also had a good amount humor in it. I mean with meddling parents especially Lucas' mom you know you are in for some laughs. I'm intrigued by Abby's best friend Jess. I hope we get her story because it sounds like a good one to come.
Lucas, a part time father has moved back to his home town after a divorce and taken over a retiring doctor’s practice. Abby had moved back to her hometown after her divorce and taken over the local veterinarian’s practice. Lucas and Abby had a moment back when they were young and never gave up their feelings for the other. This interesting and exciting romance between Abby and Lucas was full of trials, fun, a son a dog and a moose along with meddling parents. Fun read
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Abby reconnects with Lucas after 10 years when both end up back in their home town post divorce. They have 1 teenage kiss in their past and all the adult chemistry. Lucas is Dad to a 4 year old and isn't willing to expose him to a fling. Are Abby and Lucas destined for more than a rebound fling?
This was my first book by this author and I am looking forward to getting to know the rest of the group more. Abby and Lucas have such a sweet, second chance story. These characters are so relatable and feel like you could just pop into Matchbox and hang out with them. Can't wait for more.
I absolutely love this sweet, second chance, beautiful romance. I have to admit that this is my second time reading from Lyon and I love their work so far about this small town. Lucas is moving back home. He is handsome, smart, sweet and great father. He is patient person that cares. Abby is the sweetest woman. She is smart, funny, beautiful and amazing. She is also back in her hometown. I love their journey to their happy ever after. It wasn't any unnecessary drama just straight romance which I like in my books. Amazing work again E. H. Lyon!
This is a second chance romance. It involves Abby, a veterinarian and Lucas, a general practicing doctor. They were friends growing up, had a make out session once in their late teens. Both are divorced and he's a dad. They have always been attracted to each other. Now is their second chance. It's a light hearted story. No real drama. A kid, a dog, meddling parents, and curiousfriends round out this story. It's a quick read. Clean but some steamy moments. A nice book to curl up with in a cozy chair.
Great start to a new series! The author brings strong well developed characters in Lucas and Abby as well as the supporting characters. She does a great job developing their relationship and building a strong chemistry as she shows there is life and love after divorce. It's well written with descriptive scenes , moves fluidly and is a sweet read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This book was fun, flirty, sexy, and sweet. Abby and Lucas are childhood friends who are now both back home and both post divorce. They reconnect and feel the spark they felt when they were younger. Although their marriages didn’t work what they have together feels different and better. Their story is a good one. I love these two together.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Abby and Lucas knew each other in high school but were never involved until they both returned home after both divorced. They catch up and before long tings start to change. Could they both get a second chance at love?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a fun story about two people who are back in the town they grew up in, and they both now have their own practices. Both recently divorced, learning to be single again, one as a parent, experiencing new beginnings. Their story is beautiful and emotional, intense and exciting. Loved it❤️
Awesome Book This book is absolutely worth the read! I was hooked on this book from the very first page! I seriously couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book.
