I'm a cat 😻, What is my favorite color 🎨? Is it green like grass, or pink like petals of flowers, or black like the night, or red like the rug, or yellow like the sand on the sunny beach, or purple like the yarn, or brown like the earth, or blue like the sky, or white like the clouds, or... Is it Orange? like...?!
sweet like kittens, colorful like floral palette, shiny like orange sun, warm like spring 💜😻🎨💜
I'm a huge fan of all Jane Cabrera's books because they work so well with library-story-time groups of the pre-school-age persuasion. In this story a tiger-like kitten wants you to guess its favorite color.
We have two story time performers so one asked the question featured on each double-page spread and the other provided the description. Example: "Is it Green?" "Green is the grass where I like to walk." If it's at all possible, we recommend two story performers as a standard MUST HAVE feature to programs. Two voices (surround sound/variety/etc), extra help to work with little ones, counting attendees, idea sharing, emergency back-up, are just a few of the benefits.
This is such a cute book for toddlers and young children. It helps children learn their colors by associating them with everyday objects they are familiar with. The illustrations and bright colors are really great. This is a simple, easy read book. I recommend this book to toddlers and young children.
This is a great book for babies and young toddlers. Julia's a little too old for it with it's small amount of text but she still liked it all the same. The entire book is simple - the beginning starts with ten color names and an orange cat with black stripes asking what her (she's a her according to Julia) favorite color is. Is it pink? Pink are the petals of my favorite flowers. Each color continues in the same manner until the end when we reach..... orange! And the child finds that orange is the cats favorite color, not because it's the color of her own coat but because it's the color of her Mother cat. Very cute. I've always loved childrens books that are Mom orientated. I would have liked to have had this when Julia was a baby - we could have had fun with it.
What is cat's favorite color? Is it green because he likes to walk through grass? Nope! It's orange - the color of his mom. This is a sweet, brief book that introduces colors to the reader. A baby storytime read.
This is the first book I ever read to my son, at around three months old. He was captivated by the colors. Now I'm sharing it with his baby brother, even though it's falling apart. He tries to grab the pages and smiles.
This is a great book to use in the classroom! The reader spends the book trying to guess what the Cat’s favorite color is. This book provides children with a lot of opportunities to make predictions, discuss with their peers, revision predictions, and analyze the answer. Not only is a great book with which to learn, but the illustrations are colorful and look like brush strokes. Overall, this book is definitely recommended.
I had a chance to read this to a 7 yo child, one-on-one, and we had a lot of fun. The girl loved guessing what Cat would love for/about each color in turn, and also came up with the idea of finding the colors in our irl environment. I would have given this three stars but she was thrilled to learn that I was giving her the book and immediately sat down with it as I left.
Love her artwork. Dj loves questions, and this book is full of it, giving it a unique question-answer pace. My only gripe is the orange is so close to red, and because this is a book about colours that’s a pretty big deal. Not the best shade of orange to me? Ah well. The ending is so sweet!
3.5 Stars. Another fun book by Jane Cabrera. Her bright, colorful illustrations and simple text make her books perfect for my Toddler Storytime. I’ll try this one asking toddlers to share their favorite color as we read along. Then I’ll follow-up with a few scarf songs.
This is a good book for early preschool/primary grades. The illustrations and bright colors are rich and make the text have more depth. It is a simple book, but throws in some good vocabulary and associates the colors with everyday objects.
This is a good book because of how rich the illustrations are. It goes through several different colors as well as the variations of these colors. It can show children how different colors can be lighter or darker and how's these colors are similar and different to each other.
Cabrera's distinctive style defines this concept book about colors. Children will enjoy the bright colors and large illustrations. The only drawback is that the colors red, brown and orange are quite similar.
I like the colors that were used. I especially liked the ending, for I knew it was going to be the color orange, but I was thrown back for the reason why it was orange.
Great to discuss color. But, the vivid illustrations are a great way to start conversations. It also has vocabulary words which connect with the illustrations.
