Edwards attended Merchant Taylors' School where he studied Hebrew and later at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge Cambridge University, gaining a 'First' in Oriental Languages. He was awarded the William Wright studentship in Arabic and received his doctorate in 1933.
In 1934 he joined the British Museum as Assistant Keeper in the Department of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities. He published Hieroglyphic Texts for Egyptian Stellae. in 1939. During World War II he was sent to Egypt on military duty. In 1946 he wrote The Pyramids of Egypt, which was published by Pelican Books in 1947. In 1955 he was appointed the Keeper of Egyptian Antiquities at the British Museum and organized the Tutankhamun exhibition in 1972. He remained there until his retirement in 1974.
On leaving the British Museum he worked with UNESCO during the rescue of the temple complex at Philae. He was also Vice-President of the Egypt Exploration Society, a Fellow of the British Academy (1962) and was awarded the CBE in 1968 for his services to the British Museum.

Short Review:
This work has some passable detail on the origins and meaning of the many temples and pyramids in Egypt (some authors exceeding Edward’s here like Massey, Budge, Champollion, or Sayce - yet perhaps not in dimension and description of edifices).
It basically demonstrates all the Egyptians religious meanings purposed within their architecture as described by them on these works and some on the Mythologies recorded within their multi-valent laden hieroglyphic religious writings.
Long Review:
How does Edwards answer the question of who built the Pyramids? In another review I mention it shows the ancient testimony was that they were built by Knuphis. Such god, such word, represents a being-form history to earth that the far N.W. Lorists, like Spencer and long before, somehow searched and fancifully struck upon too (but, alas, only the “silly, fairytale-like” shortened pralaya-recension memory of these did the NW find - well, besides T.’s recent accounts, a much taller, if tale be told, more accurate, resurrection from before; similar to Rachel Weisz’ former husbands’ interesting antediluvian movie of late also recounting the Hebraic lore on the same): “Gnomes” Knuphis signifies.
However one wishes to understand this term, likewise, in this work, Edwards - albeit without knowing it - confirms there were once, indeed, 22 upper, what are called, “nomes” or districts (p. 16) to Egypt he said they had - and as they call them to this day, a curious word - and 20 lower (p. 14), then 6 more before these making 48 total districts I would add.
These perhaps each represented such of the metatronic Knuphic powers? But 16 certainly were the primary parts of Osiris, symbolically divied up and scattered all over Egypt making the primary districts of Egypt (p. 17) per the main Egyptian texts found. And the other two sets of 16 I would add were perhaps outside of Egypt - in foreign countries. This would then again make 48 in another way (16,16,16) as I conjecture from other finds of mine as we shall see, this just a theory though, the 42 in Egypt are certain per Edward’s, however.
There is yet another way the broader sept divisions of man in general in Egyptianism were said to make even 72 though rather not just 48 of old, 72 like the Buddhists 72 Stupa Portals at their high temple in the East. Edwards mentions this as recorded by Plutarch, that the 72 visitors Set Typhon invited from all over the world as its people group number, whereas only Osiris sept did he go after and entrap and then divide (p. 19) into 16. Remember in Genesis 10 Noah’s “72 children” (denoting cultic septs of archaic times gone) are named too. So there are 72 divisions to being on earth per Egyptianism.
We will come back to this 72 and 48 in a moment, for now let’s consider Gurdjieff’s pre-sand Egyptian Religion he claimed to have recapitulated in our day that perhaps alone makes sense of all this Pre-Christian, True Christian, anti-set-Typhon pro Sethianism (see Nonnus) he reported being located in Egypt *before* Christianity of 1 AD existed - a la 48 laws earth is run by in this teaching - and also taught in Aryana (a forgotten more N.E. Iran) and upper India equally; what with the self initiated ones he said then traveling between these three to learn of the full 48 laws that keep Man on earth asleep (16 being in each of these 3 hubs to learn about?).
For now let us learn more of these traveling or Hermetic or original Egyptians themselves though per Edward’s here and what they taught. Also we could consult Al Biruni on who these true Hyrcanian Zoroastrians were and what city they, like Christ, came out from as to his childhood, located in Egypt where these Harranians would go (as I will reveal in a moment); or consult the earliest forms of the Christian Liturgy now mostly lost that recapitulated all such mysteries and powers to the Multiverse and our transformative interaction with it to see more about all such true Egyptianism.
Or to verify this connection we could perhaps consult the Thalmud which reveals a hint to the True Christ’s origins, that he was, they said, a renegade Magi who stole the deep secrets of Egypt and recapitulated them forbidden-like in Galilee and elsewhere (As Simon Ben Yohai would reveal the secrets of Kha Moshe Rabbi’s 70 a few centuries later out of same land).
Hermes Trismegistus, third king of Egypt exoterically after a catastrophe and listed in some Pharaoh lists as such too, confirms the nomos. He taught of the Deacons variously numbered 36-48 in his Emerald/Jade Tablets, as Edwards finds numbered in the districts of Egypt, and they, Hermes says, are in charge of the pain making factory called earth and all that causes sleep and reciprocal maintenance of man’s psychic energy being processed (especially in 9 repeating hellish personas here on earth falling in the 48 fate pattern energies similar to Gurdjieff’s abbreviated: “Cash, John Thomas Romance, Indigestion and Mother-In-Law” such manias and Buddha’s Bhauvas floating amidst man’s addiction desires to take man over is also, too, in Buddha’s system). They are to be gotten beyond, inside and out clean, Hermes says as to our more conscious angelic self. And this, in early Christian (Gnostic) literature is exactly what the Chrysalis One in us and among us was said to have alchemically done.
And let us remember - as to these 48 Gnomon Districts Edwards mentions - that “nomos” in the ancient world meant Noumenal Realm or Ambience and “District,” such places being often separated by old Megalithic Stones which demarked, in distance, such sacred GeoMetry bounds “as above so below” like - per all the ancient authors - and were themselves called Dolmen or Cromlech’s or Portal Tombs or HermoLogion or Gnomon (the part to a sundial that forms the “shadow” to time the sun by).
Hermes is the Greek Title for such god and period on earth representing the time of Knuph, by the Way, hence the simplified tales of Hermes being the builder of the Pyramids. This is the same as saying Knuphis. The Pyramids and Temples in Egypt, then, seemed to be depictions of 48 powers over earth that are equally in the multiverse and these have their being form historic period too on earth’s surface as such power, taking turns - such power, for example, like Knuphis, which then presided over the earth forming us in like manner to it in the precessions to macro or mythic time being just one of them.
This one would be just before Faunus or Pan in the Greek system, such Hermetic time between 22DM and 12DM in my Chronic. Symbolic dating system I reveal as to being history, when Metatron first came here in the Hebrew system, F. a sort of fire being among the Inwr among the Noldor in T.’s similitude.
This sort of prototype Adam between men forms and angels is mentioned in all the Traditions. Confusingly Hermes also signifies at times the third house of the being world before ours yet long after Knuph the unseen fashioner, and also represents the 2nd and 4th House of Man form more recently before and after the Diuine Heracleans in all the Mythic Systems (2.2DM to 268K) but let’s put this aside in this review and just focus on the Knuphis aspect Edwards helped me make sense of in this work indirectly.
Now in another review of mine, you will have to find, I show “Artapanus” a BC Hebrew whose texts we have to this day, mentioned the true Habiru were said to be originally Hermetic folk primordially conglomerated in Hermopolis Egypt (Gothen/Goshen being not far North of such) and only later migrated into Shams-Arya (Sumeria as first martyr Stephen was “stoned” or “steined” for mentioning). Then they only later on went into lower parts of the Levant, now named after Jacob’s initiatic name but truly always more Palacial “Philistine” (which means flint or rock faced people and other phyllum) in septs then - and still is so per Ye Olde Writ, of course, as well.
The Mandean Nazari claim true Habiru origins rather like these Zoroastri Hyrcanian Harran and to have come down from somewhere far North rather as did they who came down into Egypt via the land bridge of the Hesperides called in time Philasgia before the Hyboreal Habiru Phrygians were overcome globally by such Pelleshet there. King David himself in the Psalms says all true Kingship comes down from the North originally, and Herodotus confirms this.
In any case, Edwards here shows these temples in Egypt, all 48, were each dedicated to a different god power to understand (as I confirmed firsthand from my once girlfriend Wajhmah an Ethiopian Princess of the Royal Amhara Line quite opposite the Ad Agazi Ge’ez speaking militaristic Cham Kush infiltrators of the true HabAshers long ago).
One perhaps then in each of these 42 or 48 study temples could learn how to get out from under the earthy influence of such god in dross and into its finer gifts in order to wake up; much like so called “Pagan” Greece taught, having temples warning of “Pandora Aphrodite creeping along the Atlantic coasts” but that could elevate one in same temple to the more Ouranic Aphrodite secrets if mastered; or Low violent Dis (Dis the Plutocrat “Taranis” per a scholia on Pharsalia, Julius Caesar: Saranos, see my mentions of the Sauromatae, or Von Danniken’s recent video showing the same name of the builder during the building time for the Pyramids he said archeologists have recently found, T.’s Saur. inaccurately attributed such building) as a chaos goddess wife that one could elevate oneself beyond to Vesta in the time of lame legged fiery Hephaistos “founder of Egypt” if self mastered (old essence over later persona or Persephone in mystery).
Lately Collins and Hancock are correct in finding the wandering Boreal Magi of the Harranian people’s connection to Egypt (Heliopolis especially) and locating Leo’s alignment to Orion being in 9,684 BC when the 1,000 year last ice age water then in a big resounding finish finished wearing finally the bottom of the Pyramid of such Minervan make (see Proclus). But that this alignment also recurred in congruence to the alignment and distance of the Pyramids, around 12K years earlier in the Great Year they also allow and wisely say, more truly then when “these AeThenae AeGuptha” came and built the Pyramids; or even 12K years before that or back a little further even once more when the alignment was right on again. But not millions of years ago nor four thousand years ago were the Pyramids built as Moderns not yet post modern guess at now.
Lady Hahn reveals which of these three alignments is the true time of their build. The beings alive in recent Great Year Cycles under the Age of Gemini or even Libra were only representatives of Hermetic Knuphis and only lightly of his blood by such time. So the Pyramids were not literally built by Gnomes, lol, but Minervans of Athena’s Isle, Athena being Neith who represents last phase Atlantis per Lady Hahn, when Neith had to survive against the Baboon people. But where there is smoke there is fire, however.
For these Minervans were of different, earlier, more pure as Faé, forgotten lineage than man as we now know him to some degree, so of true Gnophitic or Nephilim blood to a degree not as corrupted in Nephilia. Proclus says these Minervans of the Saais and elder Aethenian lands were an entirely different sept even than the Athenian Ellene’s who merely took their noble name from them. Only in this sense then did the Aoritse Kani or Kenites build the Pyramids then as Manetho gives the exact name and date of coinciding with Blavatsky and Manetho whose Pharaoh-King list all modern Egyptian Pharaonic Chronology still hangs and depends upon for all its finds its been making (I will just say it is between 72 to 24K years BC...lest the secrets to the Great Year Cycle be revealed).
By the Way, all these recent discoveries as to the correct time the Pyramids were built was simply lifted wholesale out of Lady Hahn the Self Initiate of high order in our day. Hancock and Collins should mention this. But she was just a pointer toward an ample amount of Traditions before her, she would say herself: nothing special she was.
It all seems then to point toward the Pyramid being a secret insignia, among many other purposes, of the exact chronological repeat of when the catastrophic great year changes on earth chronologically, which is tied in with earths wobble and shift according to higher laws that have a repetitive nature and that occur, per Hahn, when a certain figure Radiohead revealed on their Album Cover Amnesiac changes on the Dendra Zodiac from Leo to He of longsuffering. I will not reveal who he is nor say the figure close to Pi that is the key to discovering this cycle of his Great Year (31.1 something..).
Let’s add a few more notes from Edwards book here weaving what we know of such same in with such corroborating its validity - both Edwards matters and what I could resolve and find via Edwards matters.
Now Edwards seems to concur, as does Gurdjieff, that below Aswan near lake “Victoria” as it is wrongly later called, came up the first Egyptians out from there - perhaps even as far back as 867K BC with the Akhldan, I would add.
There were all kinds of movement from Poseidon or Neptune lands of the Hesperides 5 isles down into Sahara and Saqqara after such too in the Post-Sands but still verdant times from 555K to 84K. These would have came more from NW Africa as Edward’s intimates too, though not knowing how far back to go.
But then a meteor ruined all the Atlas kingdom in 84-72K and its inland Sea of these Indra period Heraclians times, as science now confirms. Then next they went to Abydos - but there are two such and modern man has not found the true one Alexander did - and only thirdly Cairo (Heliopolis or On being Christ’s people’s from this very early period) in a time I hint at after 72K when the Imastun were; then Karnak before 3K BC even perhaps, then El Kab and Hermopolis by Abu Ram and Kha Moshe Rabbi’s days shortly after the minor Ogygian flood of 2,321 BC.
The Heirs of the first Akhldann of 867K were called HorAkhti of the verdant period and venerated in Heliopolis (p. 15). The HorAkhti are the demigod Heraclean period Hesiod mentions between Man’s third and fourth houses (we are in 5th house ending) when Man briefly healed himself and became divine again (or outside forces did as the Chinese on the Suiren and Lady Hahn on the Dendra Wheat Virgo beings from AndroMeda time seems to imply). These are sometimes called the Shemsu Heru.
Perhaps the last of such line was World King after Kali Yuga 3,102 BC: Hor Aha called Arwassag in Sumerian texts and the Bible, and Punix or Phoenix by Greeks and Romans, and among his depictions in Harappa India exactly by name Phoenix too: Pho Hsi in China he is called which means the Phoenix. This Arpaho world king Phoenix was venerated (and conflated with the dating on the Great Year) in Heliopolis Edwards mentions, though only mentioning the Phoenix literale beast (p. 15) yet this here is an exoteric cycle and being and time-mark to this mystery, just the more recent vulgar key to such power at work on earth that was around 3.1K BC.
*Gurdjieff says the temples in Egypt were to learn the Theoretical Emotional Symbolic; the temples in Assyria to learn Fakir Manifestational Physia and the temples in India Concentration Philosophical and Yogin Mental. This then may account for the travelling hermetic nature of these old folk and founders of Egypt, the Minervan Hermetics from an unknown North. This may confirm my 16, 16, 16 theory. G. also said the greatest pyramids are not in Africa and still yet to be found.
**Now Set Typhon, not Seth, invited 72 of his guests who did not fit in his trap coffin, and only Osiris/AES-ARYAS did (p. 19) wherein Set cut him later into 16 pieces to form the Horai who came from Osiris and who avenged Osiris against Set when Isis found and united them. Remember Noah’s Grandchildren in Genesis 10 table, they number 72; and Jesus’ extra internal disciples numbered 70 plus he and his double who was head of them. And there were 70 who wrote the Septuagint plus overseer of it and King. And what was shown above about the 72 also here in this review if you remember. This is a key number to Esoteric Lore.
***El Kab is called Eileithea of old and associated with the Elysian Fields of the Eleusinian Greeks (p. 21) and said to be located as a Field of Reeds in the utter West and from which the Eleusinian Mysteries were to transport one into the state of revealing all the ages of the gods and their being forms then under each aegis as I in my day am now bringing people under.
****In rituals (p. 22) one returned to the lily or lotus lake (the Greeks Latona, Apollo’s Isle) to the “fields where the gods were born” (Mu they were terrestrially born as I show in one review but Latona precedes Mu and gods were more aetherically first born 7 fold truly on Latona per Emperor Julian and the Ellenic Poets and Phoenician Mysteries). Emperor Julian and before him Julius Caesar were both correct the Sabian Mysteries alone held the full correct teaching of all subjects and these matters but were almost fully corrupted. Solarism went bad, per Lady Hahn, in the era before our days as recent man, the Heraclean, became titanic and replaced the late comjng Minervans (Devs vs Peri’s in Zoroastrian and Hindic texts).
Concerning these Sabeans lineage who knew of long haired Latona and the egg time, that book translated by Budge on Alexander the Great reveals Plato’s grandfather was high priest of the Sabeans so from such full teachings Plato got and republicized all that he did in correct form uncorrupted. Muhawiyah was only allowed close to Muhammed because he was among the high priests of the Sabeans knowing all this mystic knowledge as well but he was also a corrupt pragmatist materialist and sadist sociopath who murdered off all Muhammed’s family on his passing and poisoned him himself so was a foul incarnation though close to the source of true knowledge.

But it may be of interest to modern psychology that just as the Egyptians held to a strong “two different natures United” understanding to Psychology so too did Jung regard this as the central liet motif to all his contrarian works in moderna he said when you read his autobiography (memories, dreams, reflections). Descarte was a fool and neither Jung, Egyptians or myself hold to anything of his say in mentioning this here though but rather to even a finer tripartite division, if not sevenfold, to the two nature division when more closely examined within.

Lately Collins and Hancock are correct in finding the wandering Boreal Magi of the Harranian people’s connection to Egypt (Heliopolis especially) and locating Leo’s alignment to Orion being in 9,684 BC when the 1,000 year last ice age water then in a big resounding finish finished wearing finally the bottom of the Pyramid of such Minervan make (see Proclus). But that this alignment also recurred in congruence to the alignment and distance of the Pyramids, around 12K years earlier in the Great Year they also allow and wisely say, more truly then when “these AeThenae AeGuptha” came and built the Pyramids; or even 12K years before that or back a little further even once more when the alignment was right on again. But not millions of years ago nor four thousand years ago were the Pyramids built as Moderns not yet post modern guess at now.
Lady Hahn reveals which of these three alignments is the true time of their build. The beings alive in recent Great Year Cycles under the Age of Gemini or even Libra were only representatives of Hermetic Knuphis and only lightly of his blood by such time. So the Pyramids were not literally built by Gnomes, lol, but Minervans of Athena’s Isle, Athena being Neith who represents last phase Atlantis per Lady Hahn, when Neith had to survive against the Baboon people. For these Minervans were of different, earlier, more pure as Faé, forgotten lineage than man as we now know him to some degree, so of true Gnophitic or Nephilim blood to a degree not as corrupted in Nephilia. Proclus says these Minervans of the Saais and elder Aethenian lands were an entirely different sept even than the Athenian Ellene’s who merely took their noble name from them. Only in this sense then did the Aoritse Kani or Kenites build the Pyramids then as Manetho gives the exact name and date of coinciding with Blavatsky and Manetho whose Pharaoh-King list all modern Egyptian Pharaonic Chronology still hangs and depends upon for all its finds its been making (I will just say it is between 72 to 24K years BC...lest the secrets to the Great Year Cycle be revealed).
By the Way, all these recent discoveries as to the correct time the Pyramids were built was simply lifted wholesale out of Lady Hahn the Self Initiate of high order in our day. Hancock and Collins should mention this. But she was just a pointer toward an ample amount of Traditions before her, she would say herself: nothing special she was.
It all seems then to point toward the Pyramid being a secret insignia, among many other purposes, of the exact chronological repeat of when the catastrophic great year changes on earth chronologically, which is tied in with earths wobble and shift according to higher laws that have a repetitive nature and that occur, per Hahn, when a certain figure Radiohead revealed on their Album Cover Amnesiac changes on the Dendra Zodiac from Leo to He of longsuffering. I will not reveal who he is nor say the figure close to Pi that is the key to discovering this cycle of his Great Year (31.1 something..).
Let’s add a few more notes from Edwards book here weaving what we know of such same in with such corroborating its validity - both Edwards matters and what I could resolve and find via Edwards matters.
Now Edwards seems to concur, as does Gurdjieff, that below Aswan near lake “Victoria” as it is wrongly later called, came up the first Egyptians out from there - perhaps even as far back as 867K BC with the Akhldan, I would add.

The HorAkhti are the demigod Heraclean period Hesiod mentions between Man’s third and fourth houses (we are in 5th house ending) when Man briefly healed himself and became divine again (or outside forces did as the Chinese on the Suiren and Lady Hahn on the Dendra Wheat Virgo beings from AndroMeda time seems to imply). These are sometimes called the Shemsu Heru.
Perhaps the last of such line was World King after Kali Yuga 3,102 BC: Hor Aha called Arwassag in Sumerian texts and the Bible, and Punix or Phoenix by Greeks and Romans, and among his depictions in Harappa India exactly by name Phoenix too: Pho Hsi in China he is called which means the Phoenix. This Arpaho world king Phoenix was venerated (and conflated with the dating on the Great Year) in Heliopolis Edwards mentions, though only mentioning the Phoenix literale beast (p. 15) yet this here is an exoteric cycle and being and time-mark to this mystery, just the more recent vulgar key to such power at work on earth that was around 3.1K BC.
*Gurdjieff says the temples in Egypt were to learn the Theoretical Emotional Symbolic; the temples in Assyria to learn Fakir Manifestational Physia and the temples in India Concentration Philosophical and Yogin Mental. This then may account for the travelling hermetic nature of these old folk and founders of Egypt, the Minervan Hermetics from an unknown North. This may confirm my 16, 16, 16 theory. G. also said the greatest pyramids are not in Africa and still yet to be found.

Concerning these Sabeans lineage who knew of long haired Latona and the egg time, that book translated by Budge on Alexander the Great reveals Plato’s grandfather was high priest of the Sabeans so from such full teachings Plato got and republicized all that he did in correct form uncorrupted. An excellent survey of the various Egyptian pyramids from an expert archeologist on the subject, writing in the 1940s (first published) and '60s (revised edition). A fair amount of it is technical, such as giving approximate dimensions of the various structures and their components. Yet, it might be useful to more people as a general reference, especially given the numerous illustrations and plates featuring how the architectural tastes for pyramids change over time.

Although very clearly outdated, the book deals with the pyramids of Ancient Egyptians and the history outlining the building of these pyramids. The book also tried to explain the religious interpretations that led to the building of pyramidal tombs and why they were abandoned later on.
The author is quite reserved in his conjecture over matters for which no conclusive evidence have been uncovered.
