Paul Shipton (born 1963) is an award-winning children's author.

He was born in Manchester and attended Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and Manchester University. After completing two Masters' degrees (in Classics and Philosophy), he taught English in Istanbul for a year. After returning to the UK, he taught English as a foreign language for several years, and it was around this time that he published his first book, Zargon Zoo (1991).

Four years later, he published Bug Muldoon and the Garden of Fear, and relocated with his family to Wisconsin, United States, where he works as a freelance writer and editor. He also writes books for younger readers under the pen name Paul Cooper. He and his wife and two daughters now divide their time between Cambridge, England, and Madison, Wisconsin.

“Sherlock: A Study in Pink” (adapted by Paul Shipton)

Adapted script from the opening film of the popular modern series.

Quotes:

'You don't seem very afraid,' said the tall man.
'You don't seem very frightening.' (p38)

“His voice was still quiet but it was the quietness of a man who knows that he doesn't need to shout.” (p39)

'Have you talked to the police?' asked John.
It was clear from his face what Sherlock thought of this question. 'Four people are dead. There isn't time to talk to the police.' (p45)

Sherlock to Mycroft: 'Try not to start a war before I get home. It always makes the traffic terrible.” (p76)

Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories and four longer books about this brilliant detective. (p78)

Philip Marlowe is a professional private detective. He first appeared in 1939 in 'The Big Sleep' by American writer, Raymond Chandler. He appears tough and hard, although he also loves reading poems and playing chess. Marlowe must survive life in Los Angle – he is allowed to fight with a gun when necessary. (p81)

I think this book is really good for people who are learning the English language, it´s easy to read and you also have exercises in the back.
It´s a tad different from the telly episode but mostly the same.
Love it.

Genius writing and a motive no one could have ever expected, instead of Sherlock Holmes of course.
