Team Red #1

Red Rover

Rate this book
Heart pounding, she woke abruptly. It is still dark. Her mind cleared- it is always dark now. Within a heartbeat, an accident changed Teresa’s life, took her sight, and left her scarred.

Red is a typical German shepherd, well, except for the whole talking-in-Teresa’s-head thing. He’s sassy and opinionated, and pretty handsome, even if he does say so himself.

If a smart-alec dog isn’t enough, Sebastian and his friend David came to town and both have set their sights on Teresa. Neither of the sexy guys are above using military tactics to secure their target- and so begins the Siege. And, don’t forget to consider the implications of a talking dog… the police department certainly has.

This SPECIAL EDITION contains some adult situations and mild swearing, but not too much because the dog repeats everything. If it were a movie it would probably be rated as PG-13. Storyline and protagonist ages are changed from original version.

T feels that writing is not a calling so much as it is a compulsion. No one is more surprised than she is when characters take over the plot and dialog, (re)directing stories in directions she had not (consciously) intended. Although she starts out each novel with a basic outline, she finds that one or two chapters into the novels, not only have the characters shredded her outline into tiny unidentifiable pieces, they use the resulting confetti in a nose-thumbing parade. She is fully convinced the writer is the tool a story uses to tell its tale.

T. Hammond lives in Washington state, and has been a German shepherd owner for over twenty-five years.

This was a sweet romance with hot sex. I love how our blind heroine could speak with her dog. I found this read started slow but it picked up pace and I'm glad I stuck it out. I also appreciate it was offered as a.freebie. I'm likely to check out the next book in this series.

Hey, I wrote it... what other kind of rating would I give it? I'm tired of it popping up asking me to rate it (even though I have an author account and this book is listed as mine :) )I loved writing about a woman blinded in an accident that finds she is able to hear her dog's thoughts. Added to the mix are some crazy friends and two hot guys that decide to competitively pursue her. The story is sassy, sarcastic, and very spicy! It is not a children's book. The Red Rover version is probably equivalent to a PG13 rating with a less erotic storyline.

This book tells a story about a woman named Teresa. After a terrible accident that results in Teresa losing her sight, Teresa is trying to move on with her life when an amazing surprise comes to her door. A German shepherd named Red. She finally gets a dog she had wanted since before the accident and not only is he cute and loyal, but he can do something that other dogs could only dream to do: he can speak to Teresa in her mind. What happens when you add a beautiful woman with a sassy and opinionated dog? Well let's just say be careful what you say around the dog, he repeats everything! As more people realize Teresa's gift to hear Red, many think she can help make a difference if she uses her power's to help others like the police department. Not only does this book have a relatable woman with enough charm to keep you entertained for hours but when you add a talking dog to the mix you will laugh for hours with tears in your eyes. Let's not forget the two gorgeous men that are seeking her affection creating steamy and wonderful scenes that will leave you drooling. This book was brilliant and I couldn't put it down. I love how the characters, especially Teresa, are relatable to the reader and you can feel the emotion in the book. You learn important lessons reading about Teresa's life after the accident and see how a dog and a witty woman is a truly an amazing idea to make a book about. This book will keep you smiling, laughing, and reading for hours. I highly recommend this book.

“Red talks to me. Since you're family , in a matter of speaking, I'm surprised Janey hasn't mentioned it to you yet.”

“Oh, Janey said you talked to your dog, she forgot to mention he talks back.”

Oh gosh...I'm just not sure what to say on this one. I'm actually quite surprised I read it and am still not quite sure why I chose to. This isn't a book that normally would appeal to me. But, it was a free download, I'm a dog lover, and I liked the premise of the story. Sometimes you just have to say "what the hell" and dig in.

Unfortunately, it just wasn’t a hit for me. It’s a cute read for sure, if you can get your head around the talking dog. Yep, the talking dog. Now, I knew about the dog going in but I couldn’t quite work it out in my mind once the story got going. I’ll admit I don’t read a lot of fantasy or paranormal, I’m pretty much a straight up romance reader. While Red (the dog) added some fun and laughs to the story line, it distracted me from the romance. I actually thought the romance part of the story had some potential, it just all didn’t mesh well for me. I'm actually kind of disappointed because I would have liked to have seen what comes next for Bastian. Unfortunately, I'm not continuing on with the series.

Overall, I think this book was cute and had some funny parts. The three stars is just based on my overall enjoyment of the story. I do give the author props for coming up with something unique - it just didn’t work for me.

I absolutely loved Red! Kudos to the author for coming up with such an original concept. I really enjoyed the heroine, David, and Janey. I would have given this book five stars if not for a few issues I had with it. Overall, this was a fun book, and the scenes with Red were definitely the best.

After a tragic accident, Teresa is left completely blind and is faced with relearning even the simple daily activities she once did on her own. Luckily, she has friends nearby who are there to encourage her, but she is surprised with one additional helper when her best friend presents her with a very special dog. Red appears to be an average German Shepard, but when Teresa finds herself able to communicate with Red she knows he is anything but ordinary. Then, to complicate her recovery even further two men drop into her life unexpectedly, both vying for her love.

I have to admit, the idea of a talking dog (although he doesn't actually speak out loud) wasn't one that immediately drew me in. I was a bit concerned it wouldn't work in an adult book. Red and Teresa's ability to communicate actually added a very fun element to the book. Red is a spunky dog with lots of opinions and a bad habit of repeating what he hears. There are many parts of the story that are serious in nature and Red adds in just the right amount of humor when it is needed. Red also provides a different kind of friendship for Teresa when she really needs it. He allows her to regain some of her independence and maybe even find a new purpose now that her life and career options have changed so drastically.

So, I actually ended up with a copy of Blind Seduction, not Red Rover (The new adult version). The romance in Blind Seduction is for mature readers (18+), but the Red Rover version is strictly PG-13, and more appropriate for the "new adult" audience. Both books tell the same story, but are geared at difference reader groups.

The version I read was definitely intense and attention catching. In some ways it was the main focus of the book, more so than Red and his abilities. Hammond does a great job of creating drama with this love triangle. Teresa has hated Sebastian most of her life. Her ideas of sex and intimacy have been affected by him when she accidentally walked in on him with a woman. There is definitely chemistry between them, but the past is not easy for either of them to forget. Complicating their relationship is Sebastian's friend, David, goes after Teresa with no apologies, and she finds she doesn't want to resist him. Most of the book focuses on the romantic side, and even after Teresa makes her choice, I was left with the feeling that future books may change that and offer up even more romantic drama.

Make sure you pick up the right book for the right audience. The amount of sexual scenes and their level of descriptiveness in Blind Seduction makes this inappropriate for younger readers. It may not be fro every adult reader, either. Personally, I thought Hammond could have been much less descriptive and still maintained the intensity of the relationships. There was also quite a bit of profanity as well. Had I known about the concurrent version, I would have preferred to read Red Rover, but that is just my personal preference.

I was given both Blind Seduction and Color Blind by the author. She said I didn’t have to read or review Blind Seduction, but me being a little anal, I had to read book 1 first. And I am SO bloody glad I did. For me, Blind Seduction has it all; the broken and scarred character who, despite the hand she was dealt, held her head up high, and retained her humour and spark. There’s intrigue, suspicion, even an annoying yet gorgeous best friend’s brother. There are run-ins with the police, too.

I think writing a blind character would be one of the most difficult in a novel, especially from a first person POV. We usually rely on the explanations of their surroundings to tell us what the settings and people look like, however, Ms. Hammond blew me out of the water here. There was so much more going on that I honestly didn’t miss the descriptions. And Red, let me tell you. Ms. Hammond did an amazing job with this character. You sometimes forget he’s a puppy until she has him think something like, ‘oh my gosh, a park! I can smell the grass! So many amazing places to pee!’

I loved Teresa, and I loved being there with her while she fell in love with a sexy-as-sin ex-Navy man. I won’t say who she chooses, you’ll have to get a copy of the book and find out for yourself!

Now, the reason this book is so special to me isn’t because I know anyone who has lost their vision or requires the use of a guide dog. No, Blind Seduction just reached into my chest, curled up alongside my heart, and made itself at home there. Teresa’s story, combined with Red’s enthusiasm and charm, is by far my favourite of the year – maybe even this decade.

Blind Seduction begins with Teresa and her best friend working at the dog kennel. They just had a litter of pups born, and now are excited about them getting bigger. But when an accident happens on the same day Teresa is left blind. Now after having to adjust to her new disability, she gets the puppy she wanted from that fateful day that changed her life. However, he "Red" is not normal to say the least. Add in the fact that her best friend's brother and his friend are both trying to get her to be with them she's in for a world of drama.

The book was really very interesting. I thought it was a pretty good read, and I enjoyed the unique aspect of the book. And the fact that this is a series just starting out just makes it that much more appealing. I loved the heroine. She handled her new found dog, and disability quite well with very little fuss over it. That doesn't mean at times she didn't seem a little down, but she still was a good sport about it all. I really admired her for that. And I just adored Red. He is a nifty dog, and I would die to have one just like him! The rest of the characters are also interesting, and funny as well. The plot line had me intrigued from the start, and all the way to the very end. I look forward to reading more in this series now.

I don't generally read pet stories but I do love a good paranormal so I thought "talking dog"? Why not.

I am so glad I downloaded this book, I love snarky, sarcastic characters and this book has lots of them. In spite of the tragedy in her life Teresa has maintained an incredible sense of humor and I would have enjoyed the book just for the interactions between her and her friends but add a talking dog to the mix and watch out. I love Red, the way he processes things in his mind just makes me laugh and laugh some more.

The competition between the guys was fun, guess all that navy spy training comes in handy when you're trying to win the girl.

I enjoyed this book so much as soon as I was done I downloaded the omnibus collection so I could enjoy more adventures with Red.

OMG LOVE LOVE LOVED IT. What a fantastic story line idea. This is a brand new author for me and I am so thankful I came across this free book and was intrigued by a blind lady who could talk to her dog and understand him.
The story was paced with precision and the character development off the charts. I don't understand how this book only has a 4 star average rating because it was off the charts fantastic to read. The pace was perfect, the sex scenes awesome and the amount just right for the story. The love triangle for a while was hilarious as David and Bas each sabotaged the other's dates with Teresa to the point I honestly thought she would end up with both men as each offered something the other didn't. I was kind of sad that she just ended up with David and not both men.
I loved how the dog Red picked up on language used around him and was smart enough to fit some meanings into his knowledge base yet keep it real enough that a dog wouldn't know everything about the nuances of language or the meaning of things.
I can't wait to read more in this series as this said book 1 so I am praying there will be more stories like this from this author.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes a great romance story with a twist, that enjoys humour and laughing with the characters as you read and who love a little something different in their books.
I can't say enough good things about this book and how much enjoyment I got out of reading it. I was sad for it to end.

In a funky cross between romance and magical realism, Teresa has a freak accident that leaves her blind but able to talk to her dog Red. Red and Teresa have their fair share of champions to help them navigate the changes to their world. Janey, Teresa's childhood bestie, is a mainframe in her life. Janey's brother, Bas, comes home from his military career with his best friend and business partner David. David and Bas spend a colorful month competing for Teresa's heart, but David is the front runner from the first because the dog likes him best. Teresa's nurse companion/house husband Ken keeps the house running while helping Teresa navigate a sightless world. As Red and Teresa test out their bond, Detective Gil joins their circle as they work quietly with the local police department on various cases. David and Bas's security business and military experience may be tested in the future because there is a leak in the PD about Teresa and Red's unique gift. I'm looking forward to more of this series!

It was almost perfect

The love triangle was awesome. It's everything a love triangle should be. I love David and Bas. My only notes are she written like a white woman and while the adoption cops out of a working knowledge of Asian culture. Asian girls are still fetishized and stereotyped by white guys from an early age. Theresa never brings that up in her criticism of Bas even after she learns he started lusting after her when she was fifteen. There is a lot of repeat prose, so that didn't thrill me. And the lack of a cohesive plot was noticeable. Overall, I'd love to read the second book just to see where it goes.

The h is smart, gorgeous and blind. She has amazing friends, amazingly no money worries, and her has an amazing dog. It was so - amazing, except the focus for 2 possible Hs who are both in love with her, were the scars on her face. Everyone made light of being blind. I'm not a fan of everyone being perfect. She was the most beautiful, the H was the smartest, the other H was the biggest, yada yada yada - all of them smug, and life was too easy. The dog could talk, and even he spoke sarcastically and he was still a puppy.

Awesome book

Having been raised by a mother who went from sighted to blind I really enjoyed this book. The major topper was that one of the other main characters was a dog. Now I wish my mom could have had communication skills with a dog to tell her things but then what would I have been good for. The depiction of the blind character Teresa was well written.

Look forward to more books in this series.

Surprising

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The author is new to me and I find
I enjoy her distinctive voice, so much so, that I'm planning on reading the rest of the series available.
I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something different in the romance genre.

Kept getting sucked in

So, you have to suspend some reality to even start a book where the dog can "mind speak" to its owner. So, although I initially fell into some hum drum phases of the story, every time I was ready to switch out for something else, the story had a part that sucked me back in. By the time I finished, my overall feeling was that it was quite well done.

Good Book

This is a one of a kind book, with the main character being blind after a freak accident. Some of her trials and tribulations were noted.
One of the reasons I wanted to read this book was the German Shepherd dog. Enjoyed the dog immensely.
This book has some sex scenes, but I fast forwarded those parts

A Really Different Terrific Book

I gave this excellent book 4stars for only one reason: the explicit sex. The premise of the series is unusual and very creative. The characters are well written, the story fun to read. I highly recommended this book.

Blind Seduction is the first book in a 6 books series about Teresa and her dog Red. I typically don't like to read books in a series that include cliffhangers - I prefer the story to be completed in one volume and if related volumes are written, that's great. Blind Seduction is part of a larger series and there are more books that continue this series, but the author does provide a decent sense of closure at the end of the first book...she provides a teaser to get you interested in the second book, but you won't feel that its incomplete when the finish the first book. While I was definitely interested in what the next book had to offer to the story line, I felt a nice sense of closure at the end of this book.

This book and the books that follows have a core group of characters with supporting characters coming in and out of the story. Red, however, is the hero in all of these books! Red is a German Shepherd, born on the day of Teresa's accident that blinded her, that has amazing abilities to connect with Teresa. These abilities are revealed over time to Teresa as she and Red form and deepen their relationship. Red has a wicked sense of humor, picks up sarcasm and jokes better than most humans, and has zero filter - he's known for repeating anything he hears and often at the most inopportune time. Although only Teresa can hear this thoughts, the entire family forms a bond with Red. Red is extremely intelligent and his deductive reasoning is highly advanced - I was constantly amazed with what he was able to discern, analyze, and conclude with his observation - and he's a dog!

Teresa is a strong, confident woman who demonstrates over and over that she can persevere through many challenges. She has deep emotions and loves with her whole heart, which is what opens her up to being hurt so easily. She is also fiercely loyal and compassionate and a great heroine for these books. The author did a wonderful job of creating a heroine that we as readers can relate to, connect with, and cheer for!

We are also introduced to Bastian and David in Blind Seduction. Bastian and David are both "alpha males" and both have set their sites on Teresa - The Seige of Teresa March has begun. I found myself laughing out loud several times as Bastian and David found ways to scuttle each other's dates with Teresa, using all resources (including some technological ones) to shanghai the other's chances! In the end, Teresa went with her heart and moved forward to deepen the relationship that she believes will lead to a long term commitment and love in her life.
Throughout this book, we see snippets of risk and suspense as Teresa and Red, and David and Bastian navigate the challenges of the new abilities they have discovered in Red; David and Bastian's work; and the exposure of Red and Teresa's abilities to the local police department. These suspenseful and dangerous situation set the stage for incredibly suspenseful stories in future books.

The intimacy scenes are well written - they are somewhat explicit, as warned in the description, but they don't overwhelm the book with continued sexual content. It's introduced as appropriate to the story line and while it supports the story line, it's not the focus of the story line - the relationship between Red and the family / team, and the relationships forming between Teresa and the men in her life and the situations that bring them closer together are the primary focus of the book and the balance creates a well written book that was an easy read, front to back. I look forward to the next book in the Team Red series!

This is a great book, I couldn't put it down. I read the PG version of this book Red Rover some time ago and really enjoyed it so when I found the not so PG version for free on Smashwords (and iTunes and Barnes and Noble….pretty much everywhere but Amazon) I thought I should give it a try too and boy am I glad I did! This book is the story of Theresa March and her talking guide dog Red. Theresa is blinded in a freak accident and is given Red about 8 months later. They quickly learn that he can “mind speak” to her. This makes them a valuable potential asset to police and military contacts alike. While there is some suspense and crime solving involved the bulk of this book is about the relationships. This book has a great cast of characters: Theresa; Janey, her best friend; Bastian, Janey’s older brother; David, Bastian’s best friend; Ken, Theresa’s assistant. There are so many great characters and excellent chemistry between them. It made the book a joy to read. The love triangle between David, Theresa and Bastian was very interesting to me and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit (unusual since love triangles usually drive me crazy). This one was very well written and while I disagree with the one she picked (trying to avoid spoilers here) I loved watching them vie for her affections. There is a companion book In Love With Theresa March which is from their perspectives and I recommend that you read it after this one. It reinforced my opinion she made the wrong choice but maybe that will be corrected in later books (as I know there are 3 more currently out) . Red is by far the most entertaining character I have read in a long time, he is such a smart ass! There were several times I was laughing so hard my husband stopped what he was doing to ask what was so funny. I highly recommend this book, to everyone, if you want to avoid the explicit scenes (which are very well written and smoking hot) and language go for the Red version of the series instead of the Blind. Gotta go, book two Color Blind is calling my name!
