When Abby’s husband walks out, she questions how could God allow this to happen to her, and her children? Through her journey of discovering how God takes the ashes of our lives and creates beauty, she discovers so much more about God, and love than she ever imagined. As Abby’s faith grows, she discovers something about God she never imagined…He truly writes the most beautiful love stories…
Kristin's inspiration for the romance she writes comes from her tall, dark and handsome husband with killer blue eyes. With five children to chase, she is never at a loss for someone to kiss, something to cook or some mess to clean but she loves every moment of it! She loves to make soap, sauerkraut, sourdough bread and gluten free muffins. Life is full of blessings and she praises God for the blessed and abundant life He's given her.
Abigail Wains is married with two small sons when her husband ups and leaves. As the story progresses, we realise Jack was very controlling and a long way from the perfect Christian husband he seems to think he is. Fortunately, Abby has family living close by and good friends to support her in her time of trial. I can’t really say anything more without giving away the plot, so I’ll just say Pursued is a sweet romance with a strong Christian message of forgiveness, respect and love.
Pursued was written entirely in the first person, from Abby’s viewpoint, which should have meant that we really got to experience everything with her. I certainly saw her anguish and struggle with feelings of unworthiness when Jack left, and I enjoyed her happy ending, but the middle bit was lacking. Despite what the blurb promised, I don’t feel I saw God at work inside her life. I saw the external changes, but the internal changes like her spiritual journey to forgiveness or her growing self-confidence didn’t come through for me, and this was a weakness. If I had seen it, it would have taken the story up a level.
I don’t think the cover really suits the story, and the text could have done with a bit more on the editing side (there were too many run-on sentences), but the story was strong enough to make up for those slight niggles, and I especially enjoyed some of the more comedic moments, like with Abby’s sister, Willow.

At first glance Kristin Vayden’s Pursued is not a book that I would typically pick up to read, let alone wait around anxiously for it to be re-released so that I could scoop it up and get it into my hot little hands. Christian Romance is just not a genre that I frequent. However, I had been intrigued by tidbits I had heard about this book and could not wait to read it. And I was NOT disappointed!
As Abby’s marriage to Jack falls apart and he leaves her with their two small children, she must find a way to pull herself together and move on. For Abby her strong faith in religion and God is what pulls her through these difficult times. (These are the parts that I thought would be hard for me to read, but I too believe in God and found this refreshing to read.) Abby’s close friends introduce her to Levi and we get to see how their relationship flourishes.
Pursued is a tale of sweet romance, hope and second chances at love. I loved to see how protective and loving Levi was, not only of Abby but of her boys as well. As a child of divorce myself, this struck a deep chord in my heart. The man my mom married took my sister and me in to his heart as well and helped to make all of us one family, just as Levi did. Every child should have the chance to have a Levi walk into their lives!!
I most definitely recommend Pursued! This is a book that I have re-read! If you are a fan of this genre or just enjoy sweet romance and the hope of a second chance at love, go and read this book!
In a day when romances focus more on the physical side than the pursuit of friendship, then love. How a man courts the woman he would like to one day marry, if it's the Lord's will.
Pursued is all about how Abby goes from being a doormat to finding her inner strength and trusting in God. That's not to say that there aren't times when she wants to throw in the towel, she does find herself wavering and wanting to run away in times of great distress, but she is constantly reminded of how much God loves her and is creating a future that she deserves and is perfect for her.
Levi is the type of man that nearly all women want {or should want in my opinion}. He is protective, intelligent, strong, loving, gentle...I could go on with my list of praises.
I'm not saying that he's perfect, he is human after all, but it's obvious how much he loves and cares about Abby and her boys.
I had a hard time putting my kindle down while reading this. It was a great light read that made me smile from start to finish.
Where do I start, Hmm, well for starters this book came HIGHLY recommended by several people! I have never read a Christian Romance book before, and wasn't really sure if it was going to be my cup of tea! However, I read the book blurb and decided that all those people who recommended it to me can't all be wrong! This book is about romance, hope, and another shot at love.
Right from the start of this book Kristin had my attention and I just couldn't put it down! So even if Christian Romance isn't your thing give it a shot, you just may surprise yourself and like it.
When Abby's marriage to Jack falls apart she is left with two small children to take care of, she must find a way to pick herself up and move on.
Pursued is a profound picture of what can happen when we allow GOD to be in control of your life. Taking a hurtful demeaning situation, the characters in this Kristin Hayden book through prayer and allowing GOD to guide their path found a rainbow in the midst of the storm...
Great inspirational story!! I was entranced by this story! It was so romantic! I definitely recommend this book! It's a quick read and a delight to read!
