My best friend and I did a thing where we read the lowest and highest rated books on our TBR shelves (so long as they weren't books in the middle of a series), and Light Angel was what was highest rated for me, so I was excited to give it a go!
Light Angel is MK Collings debut novel, and I enjoyed the book! Our lead character Anya discovers some secrets about herself and her heritage that change her life from then on. In her new adventure, she teams up with Hunter, and I loved their relationship! The tension building between the two was so good, and I was so happy when they finally acted on their feelings!
The reason I rated the book 4 stars instead of 5 was because I felt like the writing could have been tightened up a little bit. For example, several scenes had dialogue that started with "hahaha..." which reads more like a text message than actual dialogue. The other thing that read a little cringy to me was some of the banter between Anya and Hunter. I liked their playfulness but it felt like sometimes the conversations got too sarcastic because they happened every time. Or the banter would turn into mild upset from one of the characters when it seemed like it didn't need to. There was one point where Anya said something like "I should be annoyed with Hunter" and I rolled my eyes because nothing he said in the previous conversation was something that should have upset her. It made their conversations feel a little juvenile at times.
This might be a me thing, but there was a line in reference to the MMC where Anya said "A real man, not one with that weird V on skinny, toned men. A man should never have a flatter stomach than me." It rubbed me the wrong way. It's one thing to have preferences but to call someone else's body type 'weird' felt unnecessary and body shame-y, so I didn't love that. We don't need to put down other people/characteristics to build someone else up.
What I did like was the story itself. You could tell the author put a lot of thought into how the story would play out and how pieces of Anya's past would tie into her present day, so I enjoyed that! I also liked that this main story wrapped up, but left the series open for more books focusing on different storylines, or even on different characters. There was definitely enough information about Heather to pique my interest and want to know more about her and her background!
All in all, I liked the book and am excited to see what Collings writes next!

This book was amazing! The suspense, mystery supernatural aspects, the romance…I loved it all!
The banter between Anya and Hunter was great. Anya was an amazing FMC strong and determined. Eeeek I loved Hunter! He was so protective and was always at her side.

4.5! Prepare for a long book but I enjoyed every moment of it! The reader gets to know all about Anya and how she operates as well as her mind working on the daily. An original story to buckle up to.

This is not only an epic book in length but in content too. MK Collings has brought us a powerful supernatural romance that will keep you riveted throughout every single page.
This wild ride starts from page one and doesn’t let you go until the very last page, even then it’s hard to move onto another book.
Hunter is a man living with the consequences of his past. His parents, whilst trying to protect him, unknowingly allowed his heart to be ripped out. His life changed forever and he never again found his ‘home’ until
fate intervenes. I can empathise with this completely.
Things in life happen, our paths are forever altered because of one change. We try our best to live with that change but sometimes it takes one heck of a toll on us. Because of this I wanted to hold Hunter tight and make everything better. If there was ever a man made to be loved it’s Hunter.
Watching him use the tools and knowledge at his fingertips was so beautiful. He is, without a doubt, a carer at heart and everything he does just cements that knowledge.
It’s beautiful to watch the way he and Anya bond immediately. As though their hearts recognised its mate. Sounds soppy I know, but nevertheless it’s true. I have never experienced this myself, but the hope still lives deep within me still.
Anya is one heck of an awe inspiring character. Whilst she also suffered as Hunter did, but thanks to her mother her pain was cloaked.
I felt for her because, on one hand who wants to forget a love like she’d had, only to remember years later thanks to fate, but on the other hand, how different would her life have been had she not been able to move on with her life?
Watching her come into her powers and fight to protect the people who have become important to her was awe inspiring and beautiful to watch. But watching her memories come back to her in full technicolour beauty was so heartwarming and my absolute favourite part.
Whilst Anya maybe the person who can defeat the evil, Hunter and their love are the key components to her achieving her goal.
Their love and banter was spellbinding and so addictive. This beautiful ride could not have been written any better.
This book maybe MK Collings debut novel, but make no mistake, this was written by a talented author who has made her entrance into the writing world with a tidal wave rather than a splash.
Congratulations MK Collings. You’ve knocked it put of the park!!!

Anya's the kind of girl you want on your side and not just because she has superpowers. She loves fiercely and will die trying to protect the innocent. She's a total bad@$$. Period.
I felt like she was talking to me at times. She's full of knowledge and I love it when I connect with a character like I did with her. My favorite thing about reading is being completely consumed by a story. I enjoy feeling like it's as if I was really there.This book gave me that.
The connection between Hunter and Anya is swoon worthy. The banter between them was off the charts. Also, the Bow-chicka-wow-wow was sooooo good. And um, I had no idea I would be turned on by kn!fe play. But holy cow batman! That scene was smoking HOT!
All of the characters were amazing! Anyas grandmother was the type of Grandma I wish I had! Anyas friends were awesome too. I laughed so hard at some of the things that came out of them. I can't wait to read the next books to come.

I just finished reading this book, and when I say I loved it so much, I can't even express it. This book had everything I could've wanted: witty banter, laugh out loud moments, dirty talking cocky MMC, sassy FMC, spice, and a really good storyline. If I wasn't laughing or drooling from the smexual tension, the suspense was keeping me on my toes and making me sweat. Of course, other scenes had me crying. Literally, this book made me feel all the emotions, and I absolutely loved it!
Hunter is such a delicious specimen, and definitely made it onto the book boyfriend list. Anya is literally how I aspire to be, she's amazing, and I need more friends like she has. I literally can't wait for more from this author, especially Heather's story, I have so many questions.

What an incredible debut novel! I really enjoyed Light Angel! Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres, and this one was so different and so awesome. I haven't read a paranormal/supernatural book in a while, so this was a wonderful change of pace for me.
This is a long story, but I think it was necessary to fully develop and grow these wonderful characters, to build the suspense element of the book, and to also encompass Anya and Hunter's beautiful love story. This book had some really intense and suspenseful moments. I loved how these heavier parts of the story were broken up with some lighter moments, some banter between Anya and Hunter, and the building of their beautiful love story.
This is one of the most original stories I have read in many years. M.K. Collings is truly a gifted storyteller! From the twin-flame characters and their unique and very cool powers to the wendigo and the methods that were used both in the past and in this story to defeat it... What an incredible story. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

This is a really long book and the authors first. Great job by the way could have been a little shorter but still an amazing read.
“Anya” inherited her Grandmother’s house and all the responsibilities that came with it. She’s special she just doesn’t know it.
“Remember where you come from, who you are, and who you are meant to become. There is danger ahead, and not much I can do to help.”
Hunter McAllister and Anya embark on a epic adventure that keeps those pages flying.
“Anya, you have no clue how amazing you are. Both inside and out, you are absolutely beautiful.
I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next.

Fantastic debut novel. Keeps you engaged throughout and has a good pace. I'm guilty of spoilers if I say too much but it's definitely worth the read. Was super fun and I can't wait for more from M.K. Collings!

As a paranormal romance lover, this book was the ultimate combo of mystery, adventure, romance and wit. There is a ton of fun banter, a slow-burn romance (with spice, don’t worry) and a strong female main character. As a fan of the show Supernatural, I enjoyed the spooky but fun vibe I got from this book.
This story packs a punch of excitement and mystery as we are taken on a journey with Anya, a woman who comes from a long line of powerful women and Hunter, a mysterious, super sexy, dark-haired man with a mysterious past, as they are forced to work together to figure how to stop a creature of unspeakable evil from tearing up their town. Anya has to learn to trust herself and embrace her destiny with the help of this man whom she just met, but can’t help but feel connected to. Who the heck is he? And can they stop this thing before it’s too late?
I would definitely recommend this book!

This book kept me hooked! The friendships everyone wants, the hot mysterious guy, the banter are a few things I loved about it! This book got right into the action, thrills and mysteries and just kept on going. Can't wait for more!

This is a great book about self discovery.
I love how Irish and Viking history weaves into the story.
I also love the way the story is structured. The big battle/climax (no pun intended) happens but the book continues, showing the mending and healing. It was really unique.
I have nothing negative to say about this book.

Absolutely fantastic. Anya is a wonderful and well fleshed out character. I love how the lore is woven into the magic perfectly. This was a hard to put down book!

First, let me say, I cannot believe this is Collings’ debut. Her style and storytelling seems as if she’s been writing all her life. So much so that she has weaved threads of mystery, suspense, supernatural, Viking history and, most importantly, romance into an epic tale.
Collings’ words will jump out of the book, grab you by the collar and hold you tight as she takes you on an adventure, making you fall in love with her enchanting world in The Catskills.
The MFC, Anya, is badass! She notices a scheme being played out by some nefarious characters at work, determined to do something about it, she refuses to turn a blind eye.
Once she has a vivid dream of her grandmother, who advises Anya of her destiny, she is off into the unknown fighting a darkness that has been unleashed. There are two paths Anya must take, both will be fraught with strife, but one will lead to her ultimate peril. Which path will she take?
Enter the MMC, Hunter, a PI and all around heart throb. This man. THIS MAN! He is hot, sweet, supportive, charming, funny, and did I mention HOT! He has a tortured past, but it only makes him stronger. His skills complement and match Anya’s. And when they come together, they are a force to be reckoned with. The pull towards each other is inevitable. Twin flames are meant to be together, after all.
Through the rollercoaster of this tale, Collings’ masterful wordsmithing will make you bite your nails, laugh out loud, throw your book, turn page after page (well into the night), and tingle in places I can’t mention in a public review.
The tension both romantically and suspensefully keeps you on your toes throughout the whole book. Just when you think it’s over, it slaps you on the face and tosses your heart into your throat.
The banter is pure gold. Trust me. You will highlight almost every exchange between these sizzling characters.
The inclusion of Viking history is informing and enthralling.
Before you know it, you’ll be on the last page begging for more. If this is what one would call a debut, I cannot wait to watch this author soar into the sun. Most of all, I cannot wait to see what she is going to give us next. BRAVO!

I found the story and plot, as well as the characters themselves, to be original and engaging. The "lore" behind the main story was also really interesting and engaging. However, when it came to the dialogue between characters, I was surprised.... I checked again whether this book was Y.A. or not. Nope, it's got (surprisingly well written, all things considered) adult spice, so def not YA....but the dialogue between characters felt very juvenile, for some reason.
This book is the author's debut novel and it was quite long, like almost 700 pages, and I truly feel that this author was done heinously dirty by her editors. The very repetitive and immature dialogue between the two main characters could have spared this book probably 25 pages, AND given it a more mysterious feel that I think the author was going for. I do not fault M.K. at all for this, no author is good at everything, and the rest of the book was awesome right down to the details of the culture of the folklore used, the accurate spelling of Gaelic language, etc. There are so many things to love in this book, and if her editing team had actually read this book with the eyes of a regular adult reader, they would have seen how badly the dialogue needed jazzed up and pruned down. It makes me wonder whether the editing team was reading this with their "smut" glasses on, where believable dialogue doesnt really matter as much as the erotica, but they should have been reading it with their "Fantasy" glasses on....if it had more compelling and mature dialogue (I swear, just the dialogue! not even the whole writing style!) this could have been the next ACOTAR, popularity wise.

M.K. Collings An Impressive and Addictive Debut Author!
This was a new author to me and when I read the burb about this book the concept just overtook my imagination and I had to read it. I am so glad I took a chance on this new author! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this book, but I was quickly drawn into it. Anya is a young woman who inherited her grandma’s house in a small town, she has a job that she doesn’t really like but needs to have it to live, and two best friends that she loves like family. She’s digging into some things at work to expose extortion which could cause her to lose her job when she receives a mysterious message with an invitation and directional coordinates. When she arrives at the destination she runs into a suspicious PI, an unknown monster, and a dead body. Her life had just changed completely.
As Anya gets to know the PI, Hunter, she starts to grasp how fully her life is changing. Her Celtic heritage and Hunter's background work together to overcome evil monsters and evil people. While this is a long book, don’t hesitate to start it. There is mystery, danger, and surprises on every page, and in a few places, I was in tears thinking the worst was happening. This is more than a story about magic and paranormal happenings. It’s a love story about best friends, fated souls, and twin fires burning in their hearts.
This is the debut novel for author M.K. Collings and this story is written as if she’s been writing her whole life. I don’t normally read paranormal books but this one changed my mind about the genre. I can’t wait for her next book with characters we get to know in Light Angel. Debut novel kicks off series with a bang!
Light Angel is a completely unique storyline with complex characters and a plot that keeps you on your toes. This may be M.K. Collings’ debut novel, but the world building she delivers is on par with a seasoned pro. Suspense and danger are equally woven with fun banter and swoon worthy romance.
Hunter and Anya, where do I even start? Anya is a multifaceted character that had me screaming alongside her and at her on occasion. She’s strong and determined with sass that makes you laugh. Throughout the book, one thing rings true, the path she’s found herself on is Anya’s birthright and she’ll accept it or die trying.
Hunter, oh Hunter. I think he’s become one of my all time favorite main characters. I loved his protective instincts and his never ending faith in Anya. The complexities of his past added an interesting layer to the story.
It’s hard to say much more without giving away too much of the plot. I recommend diving in blind, as I very much enjoyed being surprised by the various twists and turns. Buckle up and get ready to run the gambit of emotions in this wild ride! I can’t wait to see where this series goes and what new adventure awaits. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more of Hunter!

MK Collings has penned an epic tale chock full of humor, heart, and suspense that will keep you turning the pages until late in the night (With the lights on, lol).
Anya and Hunter’s love is so much more than your typical paranormal romance. They meet as strangers but their chemistry is instantaneous. Both characters are badass, yet both have vulnerable sides making them so relatable. As the story unfolds they grow closer while hunting a monster until they rediscover each other as twin flames. In the end they get their HEA but it is hard-earned after everything they had to go through.

This book is magical! PNR with Celtic magic, steam and a fantastic plot!!! The main characters are more than soulmates, more than best friends ... they are twin flames!!!
Anya and Hunter are childhood friends who were separated years ago. Fate brings them back together in a story of magic, powers, evil mystical creatures and evil human beings. The story has it all- a great storyline, Celtic mythology and steam.
The relationship with the main characters is realistic with feelings, doubts and fun banter. There is a truly heartbreaking moment that caused a few tears. That moment, while painful to the characters and reader, is needed in the arc of the story.
Do not be intimidated by the length of the book. You are so engrossed in the magic that you will find the time flies.

I confess, I’m generally not much of a
romantasy person, but I loved this book. The storytelling was fantastic. The tale pulls the reader in right from chapter one and hooks you right up until the end.
The POV of the FMC is fun and relatable to many women in today’s world, especially this one in particular. We shared many things in common, which only made me adore her that much more!
The tension in the story keeps the pages turning, the chemistry between the main
characters sizzles, and the friendship between Anya and two of the other gals in this book is truly wonderful. If you like romantasy, I highly recommend this book. If you don’t like romantasy, try this book anyway. This one may be the exception to your rule

What an incredible debut novel! It sucks you right in and keeps you engaged throughout with a great pace. Romantic suspense novel, with supernatural abilities for both the main characters, a whole new world which has been beautifully imagined and put together. Anya and Hunter take you on a journey full of mystery, danger and intrigue - with of course romance and spice interwoven. I loved the back and forth between Anya and Hunter, the development of both characters throughout as the storyline, back stories and everything started merging together to a masterpiece. Cannot wait for the next instalment of M.K's new world!

I started this book without knowing exactly what to expect, but quickly became engrossed with both the characters and the storyline. A combo of romantic suspense and paranormal elements, the story was unique, with a refreshing plot and likable characters you can't help but root for. I loved the banter between Anya and Hunter, and their steam meter was in the burn zone! With magical elements, fun supporting characters-can't wait for Heather's book!-danger, tension, and heart, M.K. Collings' debut is a bright light in what I'm sure will be an equally bright career.

I love when I start a book and have no idea what to expect or where it's headed. Anya and Hunter ended up taking me on an absolute adventure full of mystery, danger and intrigue. This story had so many fun and unique elements to it that elevated it from a normal PNR. I enjoyed the banter between the characters, the swoony and spicy moments, the magic and the history. It all worked so well together and M.K. created an unforgettable story. Amazing job and look forward to the next adventure!

Holy Wowza This book was such an awesome read. I am beyond grateful to M.K Collings for not only writing it, but publishing it for our eyeballs to be able to consume. It has almost all of my favorite tropes. Fated soul mates, suspense/mystery, and don't even get me started on the cocky hero. I am absolutely in love with both Anya and Hunter, and I could not devour this book fast enough. It was purely amazing!!! Thank you again M.K Collings for this amazing book.

The plot was great...there were some parts that were drawn out but it worked well with the story line.
Overall I enjoyed the character build up within Anya seeing her come into her light and be the "light angel" that the town needed was amazing. Plus she reunited with her childhood best friend. I mean come on!!!
They work together to keep the town safe while also reconnecting.

Enchanting story
Anya and Hunter's story is highly entertaining. The plot is original and well developed, however, sometimes it felt like there was too much info that did not add to the conflict or resolution of the story. Of course, organization is the author's choice and I am just here commenting. What I do have to compliment is M.K.'s creativity. There us no doubt about that.

I can’t stop smiling!! This book had me smiling and laughing and swooning all through it! Anya is strong and brave and just a badass. Hunter is charismatic, brave, loving, supportive, adorable… need I go on?? The chemistry between them jumps off the page. The story is unique and interesting. I was so intrigued by their family history and the destiny linked to the darkness that has been unleashed. I want my own dagger and of course my own Hunter! Add this book to your immediate read list.
