Darren Wade is the perfect man. He is college educated, has a good job, and has a wonderful relationship with his mother. He is also H.I.V. positive. Darren's H.I.V. status leads him on a mission to intentionally infect women. To complete his mission Darren will have unprotected sex with any female who is willing to have unprotected sex with him. This story is entertaining, educational, and a classic example of art imitating life.
I wanted to read this book because I recalled a few years back, that there was a cad who went around London deliberately infecting ladies with the HIV virus in a similar fashion and I was intrigued to find out what the Author would make of the mind-set of such an individual.
I B Freeman drew an analogy with a callous serial murderer with which I fully agreed. I hated Darren's cool calculated attitude as with full cognisance he pursued his murderous "revenge" upon every female that was unlucky enough to cross his path.
The story sends a warning, to those who embrace or flirt with promiscuity, of the dangers of engaging in sexual activity outside of a committed one to one relationship. It is a reminder to all of us that the threat of HIV and AIDS is very real - it is still alive and spreading and there is yet no cure. It informed about a day in the life of an HIV carrier - the medication - the side effects - the pain -the stigma.
Although this novel had far too much sexual content for my taste, I persevered (skipping over Darren's numerous licentious encounters) and read it to the end - his undignified demise. I have awarded it four stars to reflect the fact that I gained some insight into the world of an HIV carrier and because I believe that it is important that HIV and AIDS remains topical.
ok time for another poem review, no spoilers this time because it was so horribly written that I couldn't even finish it. I read about 20% and it was enough to get the gist of it so the poem is based off that and the back cover description. before I get to it though, I want to explain why I couldn't finish it. it wasn't a matter of typos like so many other freebies on amazon, with this one it just felt like a collection of sentences that never flowed together and became complete paragraphs, it kind of felt like a combination of a screenplay and a legal document and I hated it from the beginning but had already started thinking about the poem review and was determined to finish so I could write one because I really did think the concept of the book would make a great story. so without further ado here it is, I realize it is a bit of the wall as far as structure that's partly because I don't know the first thing about poetry and partly because I have been bouncing it around my head all day rather than writing it down. enjoy!

Author I.B Freeman gives us the raw deal on a title that I think most people are scared to read about, much less discuss. I commend Author I.B on tackling such a topic that should be in the forefront of everyone’s mind. I believe everyone whether white, black, green, yellow, brown or purple should read this book. While this is work of fiction, there really have been cases of this where a person knew they were HIV positive and was intentionally trying to give to everyone they come in contact with.
Darren the main character has it going on. He is in his 30’s, a ladies man, 6 foot 6, has his own crib, a great job, nice SUV - he is every woman’s dream man. When Darren finds out he is H.I.V. positive he becomes EVERYONE’S worst nightmare. He becomes a man with a plan to infect any woman whom he can, no matter age, race, or marital status. This book is very well written and the story flows. All the characters are very believable. Even the story line is believable. This book reminds me of the scared straight series that were used to keep kids from going to jail when I was kid. If this book doesn’t scare you in some way I would be shocked. I believe the author did a lot of research for this book. The only draw back I saw was he didn’t list any references on where to get info or where people can go for help if need be. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all ages, races and gender.
Mr. H. I. V. by I.B. Freeman is a titillating, straight forward, hard hitting, informative drama the gives us a raw account of a person's actions that entails and affects many lives. This is s fictional story of a man that finds out he is H.I.V. positive he becomes a living hell for many. He makes the choice to infect any and every woman that he can, and does. As one reads this book, they can see these characters as if they were right before them and this becomes real.
This book is well written, very informative and should be a must read as we all can learn from it. You can see the time and effort that went into providing the reader with information in a complete story that is awesomely told and definitely timely. I recommend this conversational piece of work that should be digested, discussed openly and honestly with any sexually active person and/or one that is considering engaging in sex. Mr. Freeman tackles a subject that many don't want to at a time when HIV and AIDS are on the steady rise, we all should be at the forefront of this as this author. Kudos to Mr. Freeman, for a timely story that evokes emotion, engages you as it parts knowledge.
I'm not sure if I'll read this any longer. I just deleted this author off of my Facebook page for an obviously racist remark. Racism is something I cannot stand and Freeman is obviously racist. I will NOT spend my dollars on this book although I may, in time, decide to read it anyway to see if the racism flows into the book as well as on the FB page. I think everything who is thinking about reading this should know. Don't take my word for it either - search on FB and add Freeman and if you can't find the older post (from tonight - 4/21 abt. 8:45 pm) then I'm sure there will be others because this wasn't a one-time remark. (I'd delete it if it were me, but then again, it wouldn't be me. I'm not racist.)
H.I.V./AIDS has been sent to the back of the bus in the news but should be on the front lines. The lives lost to this terrible disease should put fear in the hearts of all. The story is hard to follow at times but the subject matter is real...too real. This may be a work of fiction but there are always elements of truth - the details of medicine, the emotions of being diagnosed, and the progression of the disease. The issue I have with this book is not the storyline rather its execution. Editing and kindle formatting is an investment that would elevate this book to a 5-star read...if you can overlook these issues the read will be unforgettable.
This book was a total shocker to me. The characters in this story are trifling. It has a great and interesting story line. It takes you into the life of one with HIV and how some react to their situations. It holds your attention because you want to see if this guy will get his just desert in the end. I hope there aren't people out there that are this evil, and react this way out of their brokenness; but I'm sure there are. Had it not been for the foul language and explicit sex scenes I'd recommend this story to everyone, especially those with young adults. It would really open their eyes to the dangers awaiting some of them. I couldn't put it down because I was mad at this man and the vindictive woman and I wanted to see whether or not either of them would change before they die. The ending, I would have never guessed it. Bravo.
This book was extremely difficult to read, not because of the subject matter but the way it was presented. The lack of descriptive imagery is a literary style that can only be pulled off by very skilled writers. At one point I read a passage aloud to someone just to make sure I was not being pompous in my assessment (I was only 35% of the way into the book). I read a review commenting on the way the information was provided. I too felt there were many instances of the author using HIV/AIDS resource material as filler in place of dialogue and character interaction. This tactic was also used to give unnecessary "background" on secondary characters. Unless it was used to develop the character it seemed like a copy and paste job.
Kudos to IB Freeman for his effort to present a perspective of HIV/AIDS that many people have only imagined in their minds.
The actual story here was fairly decent. However, the author did too much in the way of education and information. Some explanation and background are necessary, but in this, there were times I felt as though I'd ventured into a non-fiction, educational piece rather than continued in the reading of a good fiction story. There are no big surprises, the story is quite predictable. It's one that does hold your interest, though.
This is a strangely flat rendition of a bright, successful young man who learns he is HIV positive. although he is well educated and seems to have a support system of good friends and a loving mother he is infuriated that he was infected. Instead of utilizing the resources available he goes on a vendetta against all women, bedding and infecting as many as he can.
Frankly, I was not impressed with this book. The characters are not well developed. The women are for the most part gold diggers and hoes. While the story is a good device for presenting information about HIV and AIDs it felt like an info dump. This book was published in 2008. There are, in New York, strict confidentiality rules governing HIV status and the big reveal is both unlikely and unbelievable. Similarly, there is no demonstration of any understanding of the legal system. The worst part is none of the characters is the least bit sympathetic. and factoring in the completely awful formatting this book was a disappointment to me.
This book was something else. Darren pissed me off so bad. This is a story of a young man being promiscuous and it catching up with him. It opens your eyes about the disease and education of the disease for not only you, but others. Practice safe sex people.
I'm pretty sure I.B. Freeman got his inspiration to write Mr HIV from a real life incident that I happened to read from a Jet magazine article ages ago of a man who spreaded the HIV-virus to many young women discreetly without revealing his status. With that being said, I was curious in how much this read would imitate real life.
Darren Wade is your typical handsome and successful individual, his charm makes him a ladies' man for many (but he does experience heartbreak).
Mr HIV is dark and proves HIV does not have a certain type not to mention there are those who are dignosed with the disease who can very well use it as weapon. Interesting read.
The story should be read by individuals 18+ as it has graphic sexual content and violent moments.
This book is so wrong but you just know that it seriously has happened.... maybe not line for line but there are sick people in the world! This dude, he's an ass from start to finish. Don't get me wrong, there are a few ladies in this read that are ass worthy also, it goes both ways! There's a little good info in this, some info that I don't think is quite right & then just some all in out bad mojo living. Just when you think the dude may possibly redeem himself in some little way he falls deeper yet. Even though he tries to take as many as he can with him in the end, he does find a deserved ending but not quite as he'd expected it to be. When I started reading this I was leery about finishing it but I just had to see where the heck it was going, There are some sketchy, grammatical things that throw you off here & there but all in all it's a quick read that does lure you in & makes you a little uncomfortable. If you're strong enough where that sorta thing doesn't bother you, you'll totally experience what I call the "gawker slowdown". You see a bad accident that could be a bloody, deadly mess but you are just drawn in & want to see what's going on... that's this book in a nutshell!
I thought the storyline was really good and a great topic to write a book on but, I think this book was not written or executed well the transition from one subject or one chapter to the next just did not flow. You can tell this book was his first ( or at least it seems that way ). On a positive note I would like to read more books from this author and I would like to see a part 2 from this book maybe something like a Mr. Hiv: The victims.
OMG! I'm sitting here with my mouth wide open with my hands on my chest. This book was a combination of informative, shocking & scary all rolled into one jaw dropping book. I.B. Freeman broke it down in a format for anyone to understand. His book, although raw and uncut, was very educational in my opinion. I highly recommend this book especially for those who don't know the facts, or for those that want to know more about the disease. Definitely and eye opener.
This book started out good, and I loved the main character, but as it went on, his total attitude changed and it wasnt for the good, now I understand some of the adjustment and attitudes but I feel the author changed his personality too much.
I would have to say that this book needs a lot of work to keep the audience. I only continue to read it after having a week. Just to see would it get...more 0 minutes ago
