Stepping from Earth onto the threshold of Heaven, Lowell Wagner is given a mission: Go to a dark world with a message of salvation. Find the Great City; command its people to repent; proclaim the coming of a Savior. When he enters this world, he finds himself on a cloud-shrouded planet in the grip of a strange and terrifying power that fights him from the start. Then there are the two races: the Kari, who dwell in the Great City where the Power dwells, and the Dughari whom they have enslaved. In this grim and desolate world, ruled by a supernatural force that no one dare stand against, how can Lowell hold out against fear and fulfill his mission? And what promise does he have of coming back to Earth?
I am giving this book 4 stars, because I really think the story deserves it. Again, I am not overly generous with my star ratings, but this particular story is just one notch below C.S. Lewis's Space trilogy. There are things to be learned here, and it made me think about some things - maybe see them through a different light. I don't know if I agree completely with the author's doctrines, but I also don't disagree with anything in particular. I would still like to ask the author some questions, as I might have misunderstood a couple of his statements.
