He didn’t need a date - he needed her. She wasn’t planning to stay long - but she got caught in his web... again. Universes clash again and what was lost is quickly found.
The only thing I didn’t like about this book was that it wasn’t longer!!! 😩😩 I LOVED everything about Jenesia and Cole 🥰🥰Aubree wrote their love on page in such a beautiful way! I hope we continue to get a glimpse into their lives as the series continues!
Why did I enjoy this soo much? And why was it soo short? This second chance love story was and gave everything. A couple you'll want to root for. Tsk tsk tsk! Vinny Vinny smh. Looking forward to this series
Listen if the Mayor had me hemmed up in the first chapter like he did Jenesia I would’ve folded too! This little novella had me fooled! I thought we resolved all conflict before 50% and that was a lie! Jenesia came back to Drayton for one job and ended up falling back into the same arms she left 3yrs ago. The Mayor! Cole was not letting Jenesia go after 3yrs of her being back in his arms. He wasn’t letting anyone stop them from finding their way back. This second chance love was sweet but like I said I thought all was resolved before 50% and the last 20% said hold my beer! Vinny had me fooled and what a snake and had the nerve to cause several scenes! Brandi, Lisa, and Cole’s mama good riddance! I’m glad we still got to our HEA but whew did that get taken away from others and I’m ready to read about it next! Sceks scenes were good but at times were a bit much for me 😩 (I may be basic lmao). Overall great novella and I would recommend it. Again do not be fooled by pacing or everything going smooth it shakes up after 50%!
I loved this story. I love a man that can command both his professional and personal life. Mayor Cole Johnson gave us all of that. Cole and Jenesia choosing to love each other again, didn't come without fallout. As the snakes revealed themselves, their love and passion stood strong! A perfect second chance love 💕
AP! You never let me down ma’am! These two loved hard! Not time, nor space could erase the love they shared! ❤ When Jenesia reentered Cole’s orbit, he was shook; but he was playing for keeps this time! I’m rooting for them, as they have soooo many damn haters! Like damn, ya’ll go find somebody to love on! Ughhh……😡 Vinny man, what the hell are you on? You know you hold your boy’s secrets! Just cause you hurtin’ everybody else supposed to as well? I hope karma come for your ass swiftly! 🤬 Love the start of this series and cannot wait to see what is next! 👍👍👍
A Date for the Mayor was just what I needed! The second Chance romance trope worked well in this one. And there’s a secret baby in the mix? I was here for it all! I could tell there was tension between the characters but the chemistry was so clear!! And the makeup s3x— whew! They didn’t miss a step there, lol! I liked this one a lot! There was quite a few gems, as well!
Jenesia and Cole love is so profound it doesn’t feel like she was gone for 3 years. Jenesia left to go find herself and3 years later she’s back in Cole presence but this time he’s not letting her go. The snakes in this book all revealed themselves one by one. I hope there’s a spin-off with the sister and Harrison. I low key want him to fck Vinny up 🤣🤣
4.5 ⭐️ Another second chance romance banger. My only complaint would be I wished this was a full length novel. Some situations I wanted AP to expand on. It was too short. Mayor Cole and Jenecia's love for each other oozed off the pages. Also there was like 2 side character situations between Jenecia sister and Cole's cousin Vinny as well as Cole's friend Gabriel and his wife Ashley. If they don't have books what was the point in including their drama?
My notes:
Vinny is a shitty man. Cole's Mom is shitty as well lol
Small town, I think. Second chance Secret baby Is a recipe for a great story. This was like an insta love because they were already in love. 3 years have past and Jenesia pops back up in Coles office on business. He wants her to come back home , she wants no parts of it. He persists she ignores him. Then bam she changes her mind and the next day her and the secret baby move in and the pick up where they left off . What? This story moved too fast and dragged at the same time. There wasn’t much romance but the did have nasty sex, the good kind. If you like a second chance story give this a try you might enjoy it.
Ohh how I would love to read a book about their past in college and how they came to be 😵💫🥹 Fuck Vinny I sure hope he didn't end up with Jenissa's sister
A Date for the Mayor (A Drayton City Novella: The LaFleur Mafia #1) by Aubree Pynn is about Drayton City Mayor Cole Johnson and artist/gallery owner Jenesia Scott. 3 years ago Jenesia left Cole and Drayton City behind so that she could step into herself. Instead of chasing her, Cole chose his career. But now that Jenesia is back in town, Cole is not letting her go again. Looking in from the outside, the break was necessary. They were together from ages 18-30, and in the end, they weren’t growing together. With Cole still present, it would have made it difficult for Jenesia to do what she needed for her own personal development. Cole also needed time to grow into the man he was meant to be without Jenesia’s guidance. The unfortunate thing is that baby Emerald and Cole lost time together. I definitely think Jenesia should have come back earlier or Cole should have went for her sooner. But timing is everything, Jenesia’s reemergence allows for the Mayor to clean house because there are a lot of snakes in the grass!! Audacity is at an all time high! However all this drama, cannot stop Jenesia and the Mayor from reacquainting themselves. The way they made up for lost time 🫦 It’s the way they were getting it in, lawd 😮💨 It’s giving anytime, anyplace!! Aubree Pynn has done it again! This was an excellent way to introduce us to Drayton City and new dynamic characters! I can’t wait to read what’s next and I hope Mayor Cole and Jenesia will make an appearance.
P.s. Aubree were my epilogue at? The way they were going at it only one thing was missing 😏
This story was beautiful. Not in a oh it’s pretty kinda way just beautiful in the picture it paints and the way everything comes off the page and wraps around you. Big Pynnie dropped some gems, gave us a secret, and love twice around. The way Cole and Jenesia stayed connected after all that time. MY GAWD!!!!! The way they loved should be studied. It was beautiful. Despite everything that tried to keep them apart they made it back to each other.
What a good kickoff to a new series! This was a good blend of drama and introducing characters that I’m curious about.
Loved, loved, loved Cole and Jenesia. Two very strong characters. I wish it was longer, to provide more background. Parts of this felt like, the story was too fast tracked and we were missing key elements.
For example, Vinny. Clearly something happened for him to switch up. He went from being the cool cousin to that… but when did the switch up happen?! Because it didn’t occur on the pages. It seemed random and like unnecessary drama. Plus it completely shifted where I thought things were going for him.
Either way… I’m patiently awaiting book 2. I hope Gabriel and Tamela’s story are the focus.
I enjoyed this book and I look forward to what comes next from this cast of characters. This story was well written and showed how forgiveness and healing can elevate a person and their purpose. The book also showed that darkness cannot thrive and continue where the light is shining. I loved how Cole stood on his feelings for Jenesia and how they were able to make it to their happily ever after. A bonus was the cuteness that was baby Emerald. I highly recommend this cute, short story.
Usually, I am good with novellas being novellas but I was left with so many questions after reading this one. It read more like an unfinished novel instead of a novella. Maybe there was something I was supposed to read before this??? I was left with so many questions. I loved how forgiving Cole was of Jenesia. He was literally not that way with anyone else. He had so many snakes around him.
There were some really good quotes and beautiful words in this story.
Overall, I liked the story. 2nd chance romances are so cute, but those other tropes – meh!
They say this is a novella but it read like a novel. A complete story full of healing and romance for a second chance with the person who holds your heart. I enjoyed Janesia and Cole’s “do over”. Forgiveness is real and not bias. Awesome story and great set up for more to come!
You know how you find something out and then your rooting for it, only to get towards the end and the person shows you who they really are wheww, Tam Tam dodged a bullet okay!! Anywho, loved this book. Their journey apart to coming back together was everything. And the feels, lawdt 😩😩 you put it all out there foreal.
I had a great time reading this book. The love between the mayor and Jen. I enjoyed how that story started with her return and everything was exciting from there. These side character have me searching for their books !
This novella felt like a full-fledged novel, delivering a complete story brimming with healing and romance. Janesia and Cole’s second chance at love was beautifully written, capturing the essence of forgiveness and showing that it's unbiased and genuine. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey of rediscovery and growth. Fantastic story!

This novel is a must-read for those seeking a unique and heartwarming love story with a touch of the extraordinary. This story was great. Aubree never ceases to amaze me.I loved the dynamic of the story and Cole is definitely my new man. The book was quite touching and refreshing. I also adored the supporting characters. While I was rooting I was rooting for Vinny and Tam I can definitely see her with Harrison as well. I can’t wait to see more of the LeFleur Mafia. This book was easily five stars I loved every second of it.
I really enjoyed this book for the most part. The writing in of itself I liked but the book unfortunately had a secret baby trope that I detest. And also I think the entire plot/reason behind this specific second chance romance is manipulative. It’s no one responsibility to chase you if you leave them. I get it’s book escapism rah rah rah but that’s very icky. Communication is a thing…it’s not a paranormal romance so there’s no mind reading…I just wasn’t a fan of reading someone apologize for being left and lied to for years because keeping a baby from someone is indeed lying…It would have been a 4 star book if it wasn’t for those things I also the fact that I really dislike when women write women in their book that have me siding with the menfolk…truly disgusting lol oh any another thing Cocoa mama is just 🤢😬 also apart of why it’s 3 stars lol
