Adult Content - descriptive sex scenes and frequent profanity
When I started to read this I was just hooked in and ended up reading it in one long session.
I love vampire stories and this had a little something different in there. I liked the idea of the vampires feeding off each other, being warm blooded and almost human and the fact that they had a community and rules. Serena was sweet, I like sweet heroines. Sure she had a few hiccups along the way, but basically she stayed sweet. Ethan was dark and mysterious, maybe with a weirder side we dont know about.
I must admit I was confused at the did he/didnt he love her ending - huh?
Yes - too many exclamation points. I actually emailed the author about this book on her website and this was one of the points I made. This was her first proper novel although she has since written some more. She says her books are meant to be lighthearted romantic escapism and I agree. Like a vampire fairy tale with some sex thrown in. There is going to be a follow up later on this one.
I have just downloaded another one of hers to see how it stacks up.
It's quite amazing to me the different views people have on books. Some people rate a 1 star, some a 5 - and they are all reading the same book - kinda weird - ?
Story has that FSOG feel if Christian had been a vampire. Also there are absolutely no BDSM elements in this book and marginal to no adult content scenes.
I had a very hard time getting through this book. It's not that it was poorly written. No. The story line did hold enough of my attention to actually get through it. My issues were in the creative decisions. First off. It took so darn long to get to the main characters actually meeting. Now if much of that had an causitive effect on the things I would have been ok. But seriously. And then they finally meet and I'm starting to get into things. Until. Could a brother seriously act as Serena's did. And if a guy had a serious fascination would I believe he'd act as Ethan did. Lastly. When an author decides to put many different balls in play (events, characters, situations, beliefs on paranormal) they have to follow through and manage all of them along the way. A very very minor non spoiler(as an example): What ever happened to the cruise ship line job? Can't leave things hanging when it's an option such as a long book length.
As to the actual romance. I felt that bodice ripping medieval courting vibe going on between Nathan and Serene. It might be because Nathan is a vamp and has the old age thing going on but... Serene is attracted to Ethan until she freaks out about something and leaves. Nathan goes after her and all is forgiven and they fall into each others arms. Until it's repeated over and over and over. And please. I really didn't need the mental visual of why vamps like when women are menstrating.
Not a fan of this book. Too much chaos and unrealistic storyline development and flow going on. Whether it was because of a lack of any editorial supervision or an author trying way to hard to make a story exciting I can only surmise. It may appeal to those who like a paranormal romance read with a borderline new adult tag who are looking for a FSOG type of theme.
OK. First off I want to respond to the 2 star reviewer of this book. I think that you should think about what others might want to read before you give someone a bad review. No BDSM? First off, I had to look up what you were even talking about. Eww. If that is what you are looking to read, then yes, this book isn't for you. But, if that IS what you are wanting to read, you are disgusting, and if this were my book, your opinion would not matter to me in the least. Second, there are several adult content scenes in this book. It steamy and sexy and very well written.
That being said, I want to say that I truly enjoyed this book. It was fascinating to enter this world of quite unusual vampires and vampiras. I would say that it was a bit Twighlight-ish (which is not a bad thing by the way) with a few Shades of Grey mixed in.
I truly hope that there is a sequel in the works for this book. It left a lot of questions in my mind about the future of these characters. Highly recommended!
Entertaining read. I would definitely read more from this author.
Adult vampire paranormal romance. I loved the relationship between brother and sister. The author leaves room for a sequel, and I would probably read it. The dialogue was a little choppy, but it wasn't distracting enough for me to lose interest.
