'Double Click' is the sequel to 'Click' which I read last year (read my review here) and ever since I've been dying to get my hands on the second book. Naturally, I was over the moon when the author kindly has offered me to read it in exchange for an honest review.

I simply couldn't wait to start reading and see what life turn out to be for Renee, Shelley, Ashley and Mark. They are such a jolly bunch and their e-mails...boy oh boy are they funny and interesting.
Speaking of e-mails, just like the first installment, 'Double Click' is also written in the form of e-mail correspondence. Now this format might not work for everyone, but worked absolutely brilliant for me. Since I was already familiar with the characters I didn't have any problem whatsoever to follow their chats. So, if you love fun chick lit you'll devour in just couple of hours and you want to check out this series, maybe it's wiser to start with the first part, because the plot is strongly connected to the first novel (not just the same characters).

'Click' is still fresh in my memory, though I've not read it that recently. But I really liked the story and the characters left a strong impression on me, so I didn't need to go back to the first part to re-read it in order to continue with this one. Renee is same Renee, romantic, nice, kind. She's very much happy and in love with her boyfriend. Ashley is on her way to become a mommy and Shelley (my favorite character) is going through a radical change. Why radical? Well if you've read the first part you'll know what I'm talking about.

This is an easy and light read about friendship and love. It's actually more about friendship, the every day things friends talk about, the history of these characters which is to say the least, very interesting since they've been friends for quite some time.

However, though I really enjoyed it I admit I enjoyed the first part a bit more. I mean, I love the transformation Shelley is going through (though I'd still love to consider her as a WILD THING) and I loved the fact each of these characters has grown and became more mature, but somehow I found it less funny and amusing (when compared to 'Click'). And as happy as I am that good old Mark found a girl he's crazy about, I really disliked her and think she's totally unnecessary addition to the book. It seemed to me she didn't contribute to the plot in ANY way whatsoever. But, I'm definitely not sorry for reading it because it felt really nice being with the gang once again. And I'm beyond happy to hear there will be a third part coming this year, however I still don't know the exact date.

If you're a fan of light hearted reads or the TV show Friends (and I know many of you are) then I certainly recommend this book to you.

I loved Click: An online love story (check out my 5* review here ) so was excited to read the sequel, Double Click, and I wasn't disappointed! I couldn't put Double Click down and read it within a few hours.

I love books that are written in diary entries, letters and emails etc, they are so quick to read and your glimpsing into someones private thoughts which is fun to do! Double Click is written in emails between five friends, Renee, Shelly, Ashley, Mark and Ethan and visits them six months after Click: An online love story ended. The emails between the friends spans over eight months and are fun to read from Ashley's dramas to Shelly's sex antics.

Shelly is still her usual funny and rude self however you can feel her character maturing, even just a little! :) Shelly has a secret in Double Click and Lisa Becker had me guessing what it was right along with Renee and Co.

Mark finally finds love with quirky Cassidy and she brings a whole lot of fun with her obsession with cats and bubbly personality. Shelly's emails about Cassidy are funny and made me laugh out loud numerous times.

Ashely goes thought alot of changes in Double Click, a marriage and a baby! One thing I love about Double Click is even though its a funny, fun read its about real life as well. You can have fun with your friends but your a real friend if your there for the person though highs and lows and in Double Click it touches a little on post natal depression and other health issues.

Renee and Ethan are still happily loved up. I love Ethan he's such a great guy and when Renee goes on a road trip the care package he makes her is so sweet.

Overall I really liked Double Click. It was a fun, quick read with great characters. and I couldnt put it down! A perfect summer read!

Double Click is the sequel to another fave of mine, Click, which I reviewed not too long ago here. Chick lit is not usually my thing, but I can't help but love these books. Renee is the central character in the book, but each of the others has their own story, too, including a new character Cassie. Each one of them reminds the reader of someone they know in their own lives, both in good ways and in bad.

I absolutely love the author's unique technique of telling the story entirely through emails that are sent between the friends. It seems like it would be hard to truly tell a full, well-rounded story that way, but it truly is.

Things to love about Double Click...

--Renee and her friends. I absolutely love them. They are so different from one another and it keeps the story fun. They are often irreverent, but they are all so fiercely loyal to one another. Every one of them reminds me of someone in my own life.

--Ashley and her pregnancy. However annoying she may be to me, I love that there was a strain of seriousness with her postpartum issues of pregnancy.

--The story's format. As I said before, it was fantastically fun. Every last bit of the story is told through emails, sometimes with disastrous results. It didn't feel like a single thing was missing, even though there was, in reality, not one single scene that took place "live" and "in person."

My recommendation: RUN, don't walk, and read this fun novel!

I really enjoyed book one, Click: An online love story, so I've been really anticipating the release of book two and enjoyed it just as much. Double click has all the laughs of the first book, a couple of new characters and some fun twists. The book was an absolute pleasure to read and I got through it in a day! Once again, even though the book is told through emails so you hear about everything after the characters have done it, I didn't feel like I missed anything, its all very realistic like when conversations move onto teasing and messing around because that is how we talk with our friends. I also liked that Ethan is now included in this one too and also someone else new, but I won't spoil. I also thought the addition of email forwards for cute cat pictures and videos was hilarious because don't we all get annoying forwards like that lol.
Amongst all the humour that kept me giggling was also a great and simple story for all of the characters and it was great to see where they went next and if relationships would work out and I even got emotional alongside the girls towards the end of the book.
I really don't know what more I can say that wouldn't just be gushing about how great this book is so I'll leave it at this, if you haven't tried Click: An online love story, then you should and if you have, then you should definitely pick up Double click!

Lisa Becker is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. This is her second book in the series and it's as fantastic and funny as her first book. I loved every minute of it and devoured it in a few days. I'm hopeful that Lisa will be writing more about these set of friends as I love them! I am gutted it's ended though! Read it now! :)

Oh man how I wish I had a group of friends like this!!!
The pun intended emails cracked me up!!!

What warmed my cold evil heart was the time spent catching up, gossiping, supporting each other and overall investing in their friendship....it all seems so foreign now...now we are all set for quick and to the point texts...spending minut s on end typing or even talking is frown upon...damn, I belong to another time.

I really enjoy books written in the email correspondence format. However, this book was quite boring with very little storyline, and was very predictable.

Lisa Becker continues the laughter with this madcap emailing group of friends in Double Click, where Click: An Online Love Story left off. As usual, I was laughing at the puns, the jokes, and the memories these friends shared through email. If you haven't read Click: An Online Love Story, I recommend that you read it first, as these books are meant to be read in order.

Double Click is written entirely as emails, as was book #1, making it a very fast read. However, the plot is not lost and is easily translated through the conversations between each of the characters. I missed these characters, so I was very happy to know that their stories were continued and with the direction Lisa Becker took them.

My favorite thing about Lisa Becker's writing is her clever wit and ability to write characters whom I can easily picture myself hanging out at a local pub or going shopping with. Their everyday lives are just that...everyday events that could happen to anyone, allowing the reader to easily connect with the events and the characters.

While the first book had me glued to the pages with the entire online-dating fiasco and had me waiting anxiously to see if Renee would find love online and laughing out loud at Shelly's promiscuous ways and her monikers for the men who came and went, Double Click didn't quite have the same feel to it. Don't misunderstand....I still loved this book! The characters have moved on and are more settled into a sense of almost yuppie normalcy, each maturing and gaining wisdom.

Ashley is still judgmental and ...snooty, but she's mellowed quite a bit. Her life has changed more than any of the characters, and I was happy to see that Ashley and Shelly still haven't lost their dislike for each other on the surface, but maintain a mutual understanding and acceptance of each other underneath.

Shelly experiences a huge change as she harbors a secret, which worries and scares her, causing her to second guess herself through much of the book. Her humor is still in tact but to a lesser degree. I admit that I missed Shelly's monikers for the men who come and go from her life, and her pass-time of poking fun at others.

Mark also experiences a change as he introduces us to a new characters, Cassidy, his not-so-perfect but perfect for him girlfriend. If there is ever a Barbie on steroids, it's Cassidy. She's blonde, bubbly, and ....the cat lady. I was laughing out loud at Cassidy, her four cats named after the four characters in a popular HBO series, and her videos.

I do think there's more to Cassidy than meets the eye. I really think this girl could rock the boat with this close-knit bunch. Perhaps with a little....manipulation? Passive aggression? If the story continues into a third book, I would really like to see more of Cassidy and Mark, as they progress in their coupledom.

Renee is the glue that cements this group of friends together, and I love that she and Ethan are moving forward in their relationship. The memories of all the mishaps Renee suffered through high school and middle school just made me feel even closer to the cast of characters. She was definitely the butt of everyone's walk down Memory Lane jokes. Her sense of humor and ability to pun in the best of the pun wars had me laughing and wishing I had thought of that. Renee's and Ethan's relationship isn't perfect, but it is real to life. Ethan is probably my favorite male character in the book. I kept waiting for it, thinking he can't be that perfect....he just had to have something wrong with him. I'm happy to say I was wrong, because he is that great with his thoughtfulness and attentiveness toward Renee.

Double Click is a light and airy read that is fun and will have you smiling the whole way through. The format of the book may take a bit of getting used to, but that is what makes it unique. The ending did feel a bit cut-off for me, so I hope that the author will continue the story of these characters as they grow, change, and gain more wisdom. There is definitely room for a sequel, and I will be watching for any sign of such. Lisa Becker is certainly an author to watch with her seasoned writing style, humor, and ability to develop characters who you feel as though you've grown up with all your life.

Note: This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Also, this is the abbreviated version of the review.

Since the first book focused on the adventures (more like misadventures) of online dating, I hoped that Double Click would take on a more balanced concept, since for the most part … mission accomplished for Renee. Unfortunately, it was pages, upon pages of e-mails with nothing in the middle in the form of dialogue or narrative.

I attempted to give it a pass in the first book because this method made a tad bit of sense.

With the second book, not so much and here are the reasons why.

Time Is A Blur

Double Click just starts off with an email. There’s no indication of how much time has passed between the last book and this one. One would only know that via the blurb. Putting something as simple as “Six Months Later” would have been beneficial. In addition, all of the headers of the emails are so elementary and alike, that it feels as if there is no days or time which makes it difficult to keep up with the series of events.

New Events Happen and No Explanation As to Why

In the first book, Ashley was going through the ups and downs of her dysfunctional relationship while behaving like a Bitter Betty towards Renee and outwardly expressing her disdain for Shelley. Somehow, she ends up not only in a relationship, but also getting married and having a kid in this book. I would not have such beef with this if there was any type of hint of it in the previous work. That is hard to do when one is expecting the strength of email correspondence to carry the story.

Another example is the change in behavior of Shelley, transforming from a mediocre imitation of Samantha from Sex and the City to someone who ends up in the very thing that she swore off. What was it about this particular person that just made Shelley switch up everything? Emails do not do this dramatic change in character makeup justice. One is just told the information and the reader is supposed to accept it.

Technological Sophistication is Sorely Lacking

For me, even a story that is fictional has to possess a level of authenticity. Since the Click series utilizes technology, the wheels in my brain started turning as to whether it was in alignment with the times. The 1st book reflected the year 2011 and this book reflected the year 2012. So, from a social sophistication perspective, this entire set up is lacking. Also, there are events that would have made more sense being conveyed by Instant Messaging or using a smartphone. I just didn’t get why this story behaved as if it was oh so before 1990 when all was there to make it plausible.

Character Development is Blah

The more I read about Renee, the less I like her. One would think that she would be more secure since being in a relationship. Instead, she acts like a brat and becomes judgmental, the very thing she claimed not to find cool about Ashley. Shelley is still as catty as ever. Ashley traded in her judgmental side for being a blend of whiny and bitter, due to her new responsibilities. I still found Mark to be decent, although there isn’t enough detail given to even explain why he’d be drawn to Cassidy.

Verdict: 2 Stars

Originally reviewed at Books Etc.

A couple of years ago I decided to read Click: An Online Love Story by Lisa Becker because of all the good reviews I had read through a CLP Blog Tour. I didn't love it as much as I had hoped but when Lisa asked if I would read the sequel, Double Click, I was excited because I wanted to find out what happened to the characters. I kept putting it off but I finally read it in one sitting the other day. It was so much fun and I enjoyed it much more than the first book.

I think because I had already spent some time with all the characters in the first book, I had a better idea of what they were like and felt more invested in their lives. I admit that I couldn't really remember what had happened at the end of Click, since I had read it in August 2011. I went back and read the last chapter of the book so I could be reminded of who was with who and where they were at in their lives. Once I got back into the story I remembered that the characters had a lot of fun together and were all really great friends.

Speaking of the friends, I'm glad there wasn't a lot of drama between them (even if Ashley and Shelley don't really get along...think Samantha and Charlotte from SATC). In fact...now that I think about, not a whole lot happened in the novel...maybe that's why it was such a fast read. There were some typical relationship issues, some pregnancy emotional issues, and some secrets but nothing major. The friends were all there for each other, which I loved. Other than the whole no one really liked Mark's new girlfriend thing. Cassidy, said girlfriend, really just seemed to be involved to give Mark someone to be with and provide some humour.

One of the things that had annoyed me about the first book was Shelley's crazy promiscuity. She was always talking about her conquests and it got sort of tiring after awhile. In the sequel, Shelley seemed to calm down a bit. I started to wonder if something was up with her and my hunch ended up being correct! I loved where her story went in the sequel, even if it was a little sad for the girls. (Nothing serious, I promise!)

I really hope Lisa Becker decides to write a third book in the series because I really want to know what happens with the characters after Double Click ended! Every character seems to have their life in order but I'd like to see how things play out for them. I can't say much because I don't want to give things away so I'll just simply say I want another book :) This novel was a fast read but a really enjoyable one. I loved spending time with Renee and her friends and I think other readers would, too.

Happy reading :)

Sad to say, this sequel to Click didn't do it for me. It's a nice, easy read, and it continues the characters from the 1st book. And yes, we learn more about what happened with Renee and Ethan and Ashley and Greg.

But nothing really HAPPENS in this book. Oh, things happen, just nothing terribly noteworthy. In the first book, we had the set up of the online dating scene, which was fun and funky. We had all of Shelley's "men" and their monikers. We wondered if Ashley would ever realize that Evan wasn't for her. We had LOL moments and twists and surprises. In short, LOTS HAPPENED in Click.

But in Double Click, Mark's already seeing someone - no suspense, laughter, or funky experiences in his online dating. And the gal he's seeing, Cassidy, really doesn't fit the group of friends. I kept thinking that the drama in this book would come from either a) Mark realizing how much Renee, Shelley, and Alyssa didn't like Cassidy, and/or b) Mark breaking up with Cassidy. Not to happen.

Ethan and Renee are doing just fine, thank you. Which is great, really. And I did enjoy their story. But even the "event" that happened to them - part one and part do-over - wasn't all that exciting. Sorry. Because we, the readers, knew something was up from Ethan's emails to Shelley. So nothing was unexpected.

Ashley's "events" were amusing... but, IMO, she regressed from the person she'd grown into from the end of Click. OK, OK... her "events" likely affected her.

Renee's stories were funny and amusing. But they can't make up for "events" and things "happening".

Shelley's story was the most surprising, but it was really, really tame.

So... I was disappointed when I found myself at the end of the book. I like these characters, and I'm glad they're all living fairly happy lives, but a book this doesn't make.

Click was a really fun novel, and unique, because you don’t see much fiction that delves into the topic of the perils of online dating. I had high hopes for Double-Click, because I had expressed a desire to know more about the other characters, like Mark, Ashley and Shelley.

But I don’t think this book lives up to its predecessor. While Click was light and funny, with email exchanges going back and forth between the characters that often made even me blush, Double Click felt like it tried too hard to be funny, as if it needed to be as humorous as Click to be good enough. There were other things I struggled with as well, such as Mark already being together with a girl who isn’t perfect; I’d have liked to have explored that journey with him, since in Click, he struggled with his need for the perfect girl. I think we are just supposed to accept that he’s grown that much in between the novel, but I didn’t like the assumption.

The characters also lost some of their vibrancy for me: since Renee is no longer telling stories about trying to find The One, the plot felt a little disjointed, even though I did figure out that the point of the story was Shelley and her journey to romance. (I mean, finally girl!). But since Double Click features one friend getting married and having a baby, another deciding to get married and the third moving to a new state to be with their honey, it overall left me wondering who the story was actually about, or if Becker just gave Click fans an encore for those who wanted to know what happened after Renee found her The One.

But that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy reading it. It was nice to find out what happened to all of them. Shelley was just almost as funny as she was in Click, even though she seems to have tamed herself (admittedly, this disappointed me, because she’s so damn funny when she’s being a rampant slut-monkey). Renee spent the bulk of her time telling childhood stories via email, which are hysterical and just unbelievable – how do these things actually happen to people? – , and Ashley did as Ashley does: deliver compliments and lovely torpedoed remarks in her own left-handed way. I like Ashley.

I think Click fans will enjoy reading this (because I did like the follow-up myself), but your mileage may vary.

This group of close knit friends is still together, only looking to perhaps "grow up" and settle down in life now. Renee has found Ethan, Ashley just got married to Greg and is having a baby, Mark has found Cass, and even Shelley is showing signs that maybe her "getting around" days could be lessening. They still all face their own struggles in life, but that is what they have each other for...support through it all. Starting to read this book I couldn't help but wonder (as carry over from the first book): Will Ethan and Renee ever get engaged and married? Will Mark really find someone that is willing to look past his OCD personality? Will Shelley ever stop her sexual adventures and try to find a steady man in her life or will she always just go bed to bed? The friends see a lot happen in this book and go through many emotions from laughing until they cry to bawling their eyes out because of sadness (as does the reader).

I absolutely loved the first book of this series and was not disappointed in any way by this one! I think it's because it is a different way of writing a book, that just makes it so great to me. Being all in email form just adds something to this book that I can't explain. It makes it more real I think to the reader, as in today's day and age email is the "new" way of communicating with others all the time and staying in touch. The continuation of the first book is very apparent in this book, which for me made it all the better. I felt the characters grew more and as a reader I now am seeing them go through the next stages in their lives. They are growing from the single friends into the settling down, or trying to settle down, friends. This book is so easy to relate to. It shows how anyone starts out as friends from younger stages of life and they stick together and by one another through thick and thin and grow together. As a reader, I could relate to this. I saw the characters in my own friends and me and how we have grown since we met and morphed into new "grown ups" in life. The writing is great, the flow is amazing, and the characters are unforgettable! This is a quick and easy read, but one that will stick with you and make you think of your own friends and life. I really hope Becker continues this series on so I can see where life takes this great group of friends next!

I was very excited to receive a copy of “Double Click.” I missed these characters, so it was nice to get reacquainted with them. One thing I love most about this book is the format. When I read “Click: An Online Love Story” (read my review HERE) it was different to read a book of emails, but I found it to be a quick read, and “Double Click” was no different. Lisa Becker’s characters are so well written that I found myself skipping over the “to” and “from” parts to read the emails, immediately knowing who they were to and who they were from. The characters are funny and witty, and it’s easy to see that they, even some don’t get along, are a tight-knitted group of friends.

I really don’t want to give anything away, but here are just a few quick comments about how I feel what happens to the characters in “Double Click”:

Renee: Love her! I love how she’s always there for her friends. As for her relationship with Ethan, I thought it was sweet, but there was something about Ethan’s character that made me think he wasn’t working all the time, but in the end…nope, I can’t spoil it for you, I was happy with how her part of the story ended. (You’ll know that I mean when you read the book. ;)

Mark: LOL! Oh, Mark! He’s seems to be the calm one in the group, but when he begins dating a certain someone who loves cats, chaos erupts, but he handles it very well. With Mark’s ending, I was kind of surprised, but wish him the best for his future.

Shelly! She’s so awesome, and in many ways, she’s a lot like me. I was shocked that she changed a lot in this book, but for the better. While she’s still the friend who’s sarcastic and doesn’t hold anything back, she did this time…Way to go, Shelly!

Ashley: Wow! She experiences a lot of changes in her life and at times I felt sorry for her, but she’s still true to her heart and her family and friends.

Lisa Becker has done it again! ”Double Click” was a fast and wonderful read with unforgettable characters, and it answers lingering questions.

If you’re looking for a funny Chick Lit to read while at the beach this summer, I highly recommend this book!

I give “Double Click” 4 stars!

Double Click is the sequel to Click, a book I reviewed not long ago that chronicled the online dating adventures of Renee in the form of short, pun-filled, energetic and fun back-and-forth emails! Double Click is equally entertaining and ha-larious... where you're not as much privy to the online dating scene but it does a great job of sucking you into the lives of Renee, her best friends Mark, Shelley and Ashley! There's secrets, unexpected pairings, proposals and pregnancy blues in the ultra-cute second part to this fabulous feel-good series!

One thing I was really missing in Click was more of Mark's story! This is done complete justice to in Double Click. You're going to be sooo surprised when you find out who he ends up with! Mark's love interest made me giggle so much. They are so um, compatible. It was interesting to see the different ways in which his friends reacted to her and made her feel welcome (or not welcome)!

There's also a lot going on with Shelley... much more than her multiple business trips, that's for sure. And I grew quite fond of Ashley by the end of the book... in spite of her reverting back to the "old Ashley" with her pregnancy blues.

More than anything, I loved the parts in Double Click where Renee, Shelley, Ashley and their friends were just hanging out. The very light and very fun banter was enough to bring a smile to my face! While a great deal happened in the course of this book... there was no rush in pacing with scenes both relevant and completely irrelevant to the plot. With the email format, I found myself LIKING this utterly normal sequence and pace of events!

Double Click is the kind of book you read while lounging around. It's quick and it's fun and best of all, it manages to be what it is with consistent characterization and absolutely no suspension from reality! I liked Double Click even more than its predecessor and would totally recommend it if you're looking for a cute and hilarious read!

What worked: Remember how I said Click was one of the most original chick-lit novels I’d ever written? When the author approached me about reading the sequel, I couldn’t WAIT to see what else was in store for the characters. Unfortunately it took me a while to sift through my TBR pile enough to squeeze in Double Click but in the end, I was kicking myself for leaving it so long. Straight away, we’re thrown back into the lives of e-mail obsessed friends that will crack you up and wow you with their distinctive binary voices.

Renee is just as fluffy and happy as usual with Ethan, Shelley is still a sharp-tongued minx and Ashley’s as cutting as ever! Yes, my friends were back. But Lisa Becker had introduced the very....testing...Cassidy into the mix. Watching a group’s status quo being thrown out of whack with fresh blood was my favourite part of the story. She means well, bless her, but Cassidy is a bit of a nitwit. It’s just like being involved in the emails yourself because if it were my group of friends, we would react in the EXACT same way as Renee and the gang. Double Click is a happy and hilarious story between friends and an excellent sequel to Click.

I’d hate to give too much away about the story line and reading experience because this book has to be read to be believed. With some spectacular “Reply to All” screw-ups, quotes I’ll remember forever and a good old bitch with girls, you can’t help but read Lisa Becker’s books in one sitting.

What irked: Although the e-mail format works incredibly well for the series, there were points where the characters would discuss previous encounters and it made me itch to get back to the meat of the story. It’s not that I was bored by any means, it just felt like a bit too much information all in one go but then there’s not much you can do about that when it’s e-mails flying back and forth between a group of people.

After the hangover that is the Throne of Glass series I wanted something that I knew I would enjoy and wouldn't be too much of a challenge to read.

Double Click was perfect for this as its an easy to read romance in email format which means you get to read hilarious and chatty conversations between friends with only the important details and gossip happening.

At first I struggled getting into the book though because I completely forgot who was who, ooops. I just reread the synopsis for the first book and was back on track.

Getting to dive back into these girl's fast paced and hilarious life is so worth every page.

From the get go its easy to notice that a change has happened in the dynamic of the friendship and thats Shelley. Shelley isn't her usual tell-all self on her sexual exploits and she's very busy with "work".

Its not too difficult to figure out that there is a man in her life that she is getting somewhat serious with and even though it took a while to come to light I definitely missed the humour she brough in the first book.

I was super glad when she finally told Renee what was going on because how Renee was handling things wasn't fab and I was worried about the future of their friendship for a while.

Mark finally goes on a date and he's head over heels for someone that is a bit too ...catty for the others to handle.

My all time favourite in this book is the pun exchanges that happen, puns are such a guilty pleasure of mine because I can't help but find them hilarious and we definitely get our fair share in this book.

I really enjoyed this, in fact it shows because I picked up the third and final book only the next evening. That review will follow at some point.

Back in 2011, I reviewed Lisa Becker’s debut novel, Click: An Online Love Story and really enjoyed it. Now Lisa is back with the sequel, Double Click, and it lives up to all the things I liked about the first book.

Just in case you’ve not read Click, I’m not going to say much about the plot of Double Click so that I don’t spoil anything for you- but I will tell you why I think Double Click is the perfect sequel.

Picking up six months later, Double Click continues what Click did well: revealing the story via a series of emails and the authenticity of the friendship between Mark, Renee, Shelley, and Ashley. And even though a short amount of time has passed between the two books, Double Click delves deeper emotionally than Click. That’s not to say that the story doesn’t retain its humor, but more that the characters mature some and their relationship deepens on a number of levels.

I found myself laughing out loud more than once while reading Double Click. I also wanted, more than once, to shake a couple of the characters and ask what they’re thinking. I love it when I am involved enough with a character that I question her decisions, or care about what he does. But most of all, I was rooting for these characters. Each of them, in a unique way, has an opportunity for personal growth. And like many of us, they don’t always see that opportunity for what it is. They’re vulnerable, and scared, and rely on their friends to see them through.

Nothing in Double Click takes away from Click. This is one sequel that lives up to all the best parts of its predecessor. I think fans of chick lit, and anyone who liked Click will be happy reading this one.

Here’s a link to Lisa Becker’s author page on Goodreads. Don’t just take my word for it- people really like both these books.

Happy Reading!

Double Click is the second installment of the Click Trilogy and takes right up where Click leaves off. Written in the same format, as a series of emails shared between friends, I found Double Click much easier to follow along even though I continued to skip over each email heading which names the subject and addressee.

Like Click, Double Click is filled with the same witty correspondence and sometimes friendly, sometimes catty dialogue that Becker has a knack for writing. The friendships make this story. They are fun, light, but also touch on some heartfelt issues that bring a serious note to the storyline.

For me, I felt Click was mostly about Renee and her journey of finding love and I truly felt Double Click should have been Shelly's story. I would have loved to have seen things mixed up a bit and the majority of the correspondence come from Shelly to the other's. She's by far been my favorite character and I think she had so much more to add this time than Renee did. As for Ashley, she grew on me a bit. I didn't care much for her personality in the beginning, but we see her grow as a person and I really like that. Once again, I felt like Mark was on the sidelines. I really like him and always want him to play more of a role, but his interactions come across vague and standoffish. I have not yet read the blurb for Right Click, but I'm hoping we get more of Mark there. As for the newcomer to the group, I'm on the fence with Cassidy. I neither like nor dislike her and I'm curious to know what she might had to the next part of the story.

Overall, I didn't get that same carefree feeling that I got from reading Click, but this story does not disappoint. Running along the lines of more chick-lit than romance, Double Click is an easy read that doesn't take you through a gamut of emotions. Light and comical, it's one that you'll breeze right through.

“Double Click” by Lisa Becker

Blurb: Same bunch of friends, same city, different shenanigans! Renee and company are back, this time a little older, a little wiser and most definitely a lot more entertaining.
Following up Renee's quest for love in “Click: An Online Love Story”, we pick up with a wedding, a baby, a new relationship and some sneaky surprises.
Has Renee found everlasting love? Will Shelly run out of yummy men to judge? All these questions and more will be answered. Cocktails in hand, ladies and gents, here comes the fun!

My Thoughts: I simply adore this series! Following “Click: An Online Love Story” was always going to be hard, after all it has received some raving reviews (one from yours truly), and I was very tentative when I first heard about a follow up, but you know what? I loved it!
The characters are still faithful to the first book, but their lives have moved on, some in small, some in huge ways.
Renee, Shelley and even Ashley didn't fail in capturing my attention with their antics, fears and hopes, and I was so happy to be able to follow them into this new chapter of their lives.
This is a truly heart warming, giggle inducing, sparkling romantic comedy and I refuse to call it Chick Lit because to me it was more like a photo caption of what a woman's life is: friends, love, passion and commitment to realising ones dreams. Fear of failing, of losing, of change. But most of all, it is a wonderful portrayal of relationships and how they can shape someone's life deeply.
I am not ashamed to say I cried like a baby at the airport scene (no spoilers!), because it reminded me of my own experiences and of people in my life that I love.
I cannot recommend this book enough.
In fact, if you haven't read Click and Double Click...Go and do it now! ;)
Big huge love and thumbs up!

Happy reading Bookaholics.

“Double Click” is a fun novel. It’s light, airy and clever. The kind of conversation you would have with your friends via e-mail. The characters are late-20something/early 30something friends, Ashley, Renee, Shelley, Ethan, Mark and Mark’s new girlfriend, Cassidy. Ashley is the engaged and pregnant friend, Renee and Ethan are the couple who live together and seldom see each other, Shelley is the vamp of the group and Mark is Renee’s best male friend who has always been there for her. When Cassidy, a pretty and perky personal trainer to the stars comes into the group, there’s natural skepticism. Becker’s characters are so relatable that it’s impossible not to get involved in their lives from the start. The inclusion of Mark’s new girlfriend, Cassidy, in the e-mail train was sheer brilliance. We all have that friend who has had a girlfriend or boyfriend who just doesn’t reflect well in e-mail and tries too hard to be one of the gang and that person in this novel is Cassidy. It’s intimidating coming into a tight-knit group. That said, her little interjected e-mails just cracked me up.

The plotline, as it is reflected in e-mail, is fairly straightforward. The group discusses their lives as Ashley is pregnant and gets married; Ethan and Renee have relationship problems; Shelley contemplates moving; etc… Each character has a unique voice. Shelley is snarky and clever giving us the gem “Holiopathic” (a person who takes a ‘holier than thou’ approach to homeopathy). Ethan teases Ashley about baby names suggesting that she call her offspring “Cash, his nickname could be Loose Change.” Renee is the glue of the group and that person who forces her friends to stay in touch.

“Double Click” is a wonderful story that fits very neatly in the chick lit genre and is a fast and funny read.

This review was originally posted on my blog, Ramblings of a Daydreamer. You can find it, and many more reviews at the blog.

Double Click picks up shortly after where Click left off. A lot has changed in the last few months - we have a few additions to the gang, and a few surprises in store.

Life is changing for Renee. Things are getting serious with Ethan (I didn't say this in my review of Click because I wanted to avoid spoilers, but I LOVE ETHAN. I'm so glad Renee ended up with him), Ashley and Mark are both involved with people, and Shelley seems to be keeping things from Renee. They’re all as close as they ever were, but you can see the dynamics changing within the group.

I loved that we got to see the romance that started in the first book carrying on through the second. Ethan was my choice from his very first email to Renee, and I think they’re so great together. However, I loved that it wasn’t all sunshine and roses for them. Their relationship was realistic - Ethan wasn’t perfect, and neither was their relationship. They had issues, and it was nice to see a romance that wasn’t ‘romanticized’ (and this is coming from a romance junkie); I thought it was a nice change from the norm.

I was really sad for Double Click to end. I got really attached to these characters, and I enjoyed seeing into their lives through their emails. The ending was bittersweet - I actually cried - but it was realistic, which I liked. Even though they’re a group of adults, it felt like really getting to watch these people grow up in a lot of ways, and that was fun, funny, enlightening, and emotional. I enjoyed Click and Double Click immensely (so much so that I gave copies to my mum as a gift, and she loved them too!), and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, especially to fans of women’s fiction and romance.

“Double Click” by Lisa Becker
2 out of 5 stars

Renee and company are back in the second book in the Click series by Lisa Becker. She’s a little more settled and instead of traversing the dating world, she is now reveling in her relationship status. As I said in my review of the first book, this is a completely different concept than anything you’ve ever read. There is no dialogue…there is no physical character interaction. There is only a series of emails exchanged by a group of friends as they traverse life, love, and all the pitfalls of both.

I’m still struggling to get into this series. I so wanted to make a connection with this group, especially Renee. On paper she is a great character…one that you could potentially invest in. However, that’s where it stops for me…on paper. I need to be in her head. I need to see Ethan through her eyes, in the moment. I need to feel what it’s like to kiss him and touch him as she is doing it. I need to be in her head. I needed to experience her life as she did, not in a retelling afterward to her friends.

For me, I need that connection with the characters in order to really delve into a book. Once again, I’m at a loss for what to say because I don’t really know who these people are…what truly motivates them…how they really felt in any given moment because I never experienced any of it with them.

If you are looking for a shallow, on-the-surface read then this may be for you. I think this would play out well as a weekly news article or something in that vain. As a book, it just didn’t come together for me.

In the second installment in the Click series, there is a wedding and an engagement. There are sad goodbyes, new life life, and new love. There’s also secrets, glow-in-the-dark condoms, puns about eggs, puns about shoes, adults who don’t know how to capitalize, creepy cat videos, and, well, Shelley. It’s definitely entertaining and funny despite the bittersweet ending, and I think I like this book better than the last because there isn’t the onslaught of bad dates that make me depressed about humanity (as hilarious as they could be).

I think the book is well-written, entertaining chick-lit that fans of The Boy Next Door and Every Boy’s Got One would love, and Click fans will definitely be satisfied with this sequel.

Seeing Shelley’s character develop and mature was nice and it was fun seeing Ashley’s and Shelley’s (reluctant) friendship grow. However, I was kind of hoping Cassidy would disappear. I share a lot of Shelley’s sentiments about her and I’m really curious about what her job is and how she got hired when she has no grasp on capitalization and punctuation. She could drive me a little batty, and reading her emails were kind of frustrating because of her lack of knowledge on how a keyboard works. There are also points in the story where all plot movement stops because the characters are stuck in a pun war. This isn’t really much of a complaint because the puns were freaking hilarious (yes, I’m one of those people who laughs at lame jokes. Feel free to judge me), but there were a couple of times I felt like the war had gone on long enough. All in all, this is an excellent read and worth checking out.

I read Click: An Online Love Story quite some time ago and was very pleased with the format and hilarity that ensued. When Ms. Becker asked me to review Double Click , I was so excited and couldn't wait to catch back up with the girls (and Mark...and Ethan). :)

All of the main crew is back emailing one another again and the format is just as engaging, unfortunately, the storyline isn't quite as compelling as the first in the series. I enjoyed the happiness of Renee and Ethan. They are working through beginning relationship issues but still so happy together. Ashley is a new mom now and although she was my least favorite character in Click , she definitely grows on me this time around. Shelley is hilariously atrocious as always but is taking a slightly different path than the usual. Mark is in a new relationship and he is so hopeful that his closest lady friends will love and adore Cassidy as much as he does...unfortunately, when new blood is added to the mix, the cats come out to play - and play they did!

I did indeed enjoy getting a run-down on all of the crew, but I definitely felt like this go around was more drawn out than the last. Almost as if there wasn't enough to say at times. That being said, there were so many laugh-out-loud moments mixed with serious and real life issues and I truly think that Double Click is a fun and lighthearted read - and I was happy to read it.

If you enjoy cheerful, tongue-in-cheek novels that give you a good belly laugh, Double Click is the perfect read for you.

Normally anything but a fan of the diary entry/letter/email format of writing I was more than pleasantly surprised by just how much I had enjoyed Click: An Online Love Story. Would it be a fluke, a one-off and, most worryingly, would I be disappointed by this the second book in the series?

Thankfully not, in fact quite the reserve, I found Double Quick to be even more of an entertaining read and as such am already longing for part 3.

Once again written as a series of emails between several friends, packed with laugh-out-loud moments, the story really benefited from the addition of Cassidy who, though I don't want to give too much away, is one of those characters who you'll instantly recognise as the individual who sends every one on their contact list cute/annoying (depending on your point of view) images of baby animals.

A great, fun read, because of its quirky, instantly recognisable format a perfect novel for the digital age, Double Click, essentially the story of a group of friends in search of their 'Happy Ever Afters', reads well enough as a standalone novel though I highly recommend it as best read after Click which, besides introducing most of the characters, is a wonderfully humorous read in itself.

Double Click starts six months after the first novel by Lisa Becker, Click: An Online Love Story. It picks up right where the first left off. Renee, Shelley, Ashley, Mark, and new character Cassidy all exchange quirky emails telling the story of their lives. There is a marriage proposal, a new baby, and of course new loves.

This book is made up entirely of a series of emails between best friends and their mates. These emails made me laugh, smile and nod my head knowingly. All the questions I had at the end of the first book were answered. As with any good book I am left wondering what will happen next. Will Shelley find love and will Mark finally find his soul mate, even if she is a cat fanatic.

I loved the cover to this novel. It is so perfect for the content. It grabbed me and begged me to start reading.

The funny, quirky, and close-knit group of friends made me look at my friends and compare them. I was shocked at some of the similarities that I found. The emails these friends shared were in email form, but were actually a running conversation that was easy to follow and easy to feel part of. I did wonder how any of them got any work done and if their bosses knew how much time they spent sending personal emails.
I am anticipating another novel in this series and cannot wait. If you are looking for a fun read. I will definitely recommend this novel. Although I do suggest you start with the first book so you have a good background on the story.

Double Click is the sequel to Click: An Online Love Story. These two books are told through a series of emails between four characters: Ashley, Renee, Shelley and Mark. However in this book a few names have been added to the email list as the characters embark on new relationships. I really liked the first book, but this book didn't quite measure up. For example, the beginning of the book starts out with a wedding, and I was confused as to who exactly was getting married. At first I thought it was Renee. After how the last book ended, I thought it was possible. It took a couple of pages before I realized it was Ashley who was getting married. It was a little confusing to say the least. However there are some positive and negative developments that happen in this book. Mark finally meets a woman who he really likes, but the gang isn't too keen on her. Renee and Ethan are having relationship troubles due to Ethan working all the time. Lots of relationship drama.
Although I didn't like this book as much as Click, I still thought it was good. It almost reads as if you'd been bcc'd and are reading emails that you shouldn't be. Some of the emails are funny while some are boring. However, overall, the story is entertaining. I would recommend reading Click first otherwise some things will be lost on the reader.

I loved this sequel to Click: An Online Love Story almost as much as its predecessor. Much (probably most) of that difference probably goes to personal taste. I liked Renee’s continuing saga and, as in the first book, this is done as a series of emails between her and her closest friends. It also has significant story threads for each of those friends. Ashley, who I found the least likeable of the bunch, gets much more time in the spotlight and Cassidy, a love interest for Mark, inserts herself into the group. I found Cassidy almost as irritating as the characters did and while she provided plenty of ammunition for the others to get snarky, between her and Ashley I was shaking my head and cringing a lot more. And when I read this quote of Cassidy’s online dating profile, I had to admit to myself that I am a Grammar Nazi:

i’m looking for a smart, successful and energetic man to spend time with. but, my job can be very demanding, so patients and understanding go a long way. if you think your …

However, not liking this book as much as I did Click … doesn’t mean I didn’t like Double Click. I did. In spite of his taste in women, I still enjoyed Mark, and the story thread involving love ’em and leave ‘em Shelly made up for Cassidy. In fact, I had a hard time putting this book down, too, and finished it almost as quickly as Click.

Double Click by Lisa Becker

Six months later we get to see what is happening with Renee, Shelley, Ashley, Mark and Ethan. Does Mark ever go on a date, will Shelley ever find love, how is Ashley doing good in her new relationship? And how are things between Renee and Ethan?

There is a wedding, new baby, a marriage proposal and an unexpected love interest. The story continues perfectly answering some questions and watching new life events unfold. The lovable characters are back, along with many laugh out loud moments, along with some embarrassing ones as well.

Well written in email format, which I really enjoy (very original). I like the way the story flows through emails among the friends in private and group emails.

I recommend Double Click and book one in the series Click: An Online Love Story to those who love a great, fun story with many laugh out loud moments, juicy gossip, and shocking surprises. I look forward to reading book three Right click.
