Tessa is a young woman who lives her life always doing what is right to make everyone else happy. She tries desperately to hold herself accountable to the demanding expectations of her family and everyone around her.

I honestly couldn't get past the writing to even attempt to like the story. I did not finish and actually requested a refund from Amazon which I never do.

My thoughts on books 1 to 3

The last time I read a couple this buggered, is the Closer Trilogy.. Except Lucas and Tessa are WORSE. Much worse. They are so wrong for each other. The words: obsessed, possessive, needy, territorial, jealous don't come close to describing how he feels about her. She is exactly the same. I wish I could put into words how intense this read is.

The blurbs of each book explains exactly what stage they are at in their lives, so we sort of know where each book is going. But believe me, nothing prepared me for the love and pain the H and h experience. She's a friggin martyr. He is the worse boyfriend any girl could possibly ask for. I hate him. He is the devil incarnate beautiful bad-boy. And she irritates me. Shes a gorgeous goody goody two shoes with a mean streak and gives as good as she gets. But their connection is such an explosive train wreck, I'm morbidly glued to the devastation that is their relationship. They grow within themselves and their relationship and then backslide into despair so much, its like they never grew in the first place. I'm so SO frustrated!

There is so MUCH happening in each book. Im sure some will think that its OTT but its all very believable to me. Very real. Each one is lengthy and has a bittersweet ending. The other characters are wonderful to read. I love them all. The author isn't afraid to flesh them out. The thing is, you'd expect this kind of read to not have much "together time" for them, but nope, they're together even when they're not together. Weird. Addictive.

I don't like: that its an installment read of 4 books, its expensive, that it seriously needs a good cleanup iro grammar, punctuation, spelling. In fact, the lack of editing is disconcerting, more so because its such a good story and otherwise so well written. But its not enough to deter me from it. I'm enthralled and horrified that I AM enthralled in the first place. But truly, I can't be bothered with all these problems cos I love-hate this story so much. I'm also gonna check out the author's other books. I love her writing style.

Oh, and Lucas is a crying hero. A b@stard crying hero. He messes up. ALL. THE. TIME. But dear goodness I love him. And I love the hold she has over him cos he is just too much of an arrogant @.$$hole and I'm gleefully watching him squirm and flounder around like a lost fool. The pig. If he wasn't so f'd up and so addicted to her, so vulnerable and so misunderstood, I'd have thrown in the towel long ago. I mean, they go around in CIRCLES! Over and over again!

I'm almost done with book 3 and have NO idea if there's even a HEA for them in book 4. You know I must have a solid HEA, right? This is the first time I can honestly say that if it doesn't happen, I'm probably gonna be fine with it. Right now, he is hurting her too much, she's allowing it too often and the one MAIN thing that keeps me reading is that HE hurts JUST as much as her every time.

"I held you today at the same time I let you go. I will trust in what I feel for the first time, you will be part of me forever. I am forever changed because of you."

Get Ready to go back to High School. Yep I just spent the last couple days in high school and what did I feel . I LOVED IT, NOPE I HATED IT, WAIT I WANT MORE, I AM CONFUSED, I NEED MORE!!! Yes that is high school and this book takes you right back in the center of it. If you are a fan of Tijan this book definitely has that exact feel and anyone who knows me knows, I am a sucker for a high school love story.

Tessa is a typical high school senior, everything is perfect in her life. Great Friends, perfect family until that moment when all that shatters and her parents decide they need a break and everything takes a change. YEP HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA BEGINS!!!

“You’re not use to this kind of attention, are you?”

“You need to get used to it Tessa. I’m going to be watching you.”

“Sounds kind of stalker-ish, LL”

I wish Lucas would stalk me!! Lucas, Lucas is the new quarterback and he has his sights set on Tessa. Lucas is hot, sexy and arrogant as hell.

“Would you be offended if I p***ed on your leg, mark you as mine.”

I kinda want to pee on him and mark him as mine!!! Ok I need to check my cougar ass.

These two fall hard for each other but like high school there is distractions. And boys are boys in high school and well distractions and distracting.

“Can you be my friend for a while?”

WHAT?!?!?! Yep remember Love/HATE!!!

Get ready because this is not the only couple you will fall for actually there are several couples in the story that are going to steal your heart. But Tessa and Lucas are it, they are the ones you want!!

“You are so much different than most girls I’ve met, you’re special, you’re perfect, and I Love You Tessa Ross,”

“Lucas Links, as much as I’m scared out of mind, I think I’m in love with you too… can you breathe now because I want some lip action.”

So I am in love and then something happened… the ending!! And I was screaming where’s my HEA Ms. Fields!!! Let me tell you she promises it is coming but I WANT IT NOW!!! Yep I think she just killed me I hate her, no I don’t I love her and these characters. This book was so hard to put down and even harder to leave and now I want “New Love”, actually I can’t talk I have a book to read because yes it’s available!!!

"What happens after Tessa is love. You told me that and I know it will be true with you. I love you, I want you forever, and I don’t want to share you with anyone. I want to make you smile for the rest of our lives, love is what happens, just a deeper version of what we have now”

I'm sorry but this book it not my type. First of all, I kept getting confused in the first couple of chapters, it kept going from one cousin's point of view to the other cousin, it was so confusing. Second, the guy cheated big time, that was a total turn off. It was just a road wreck. I had to force myself to finish it, I was so disgusted. I researched that it had four other books to continue the series. They don't end up together until the 5th book and twenty years later. Come on. This book traumatized me so much, I had to go re-read a favorite book just to try to forget this book.

Never read anything as frustrating

A niave girl a manwhore of a boyfriend both are so all over the place and indecisive yet proclaimed love, It drove me nuts.

Told as third person which got really confusing at the beginning wasn't sure who's story it was.

Thankfully I have read other books from this author and enjoyed so I presume this was an earlier publication because if not I wouldn't of gone there again

Really disliked it and my downfall is I always give a book a chance and finish it.

5 star Review Blue Love (Love #1) by M.J. Fields

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I opened this book but what I got was a well written, emotional roller coaster of a read that got to me on so many levels. Be prepared there may be triggers for some so please take note.

I’m in two minds about Lucas, he is someone that is easy to hate as well as love. Lucas Links is the star quarterback, he can have anyone he wants and seems to want for nothing, however all is not as it seems and there is more to him than first appears. Tessa Ross is focused on doing the right thing, no matter what but she too is struggl and there is agreat deal bubbling under the surface.

When Lucas and Tessa meet , sparks fly with an intensity that both do not expect . This is a story of young love, it’s hardships, the drama and trauma that can occur. Both have family issues and my heart went out to them at times. The gamut of emotions that I went through had me feeling as though I was on an epic ride that I couldn’t get off.

When Lucas’s past comes back to haunt him what will happen? If you like stories that have heart and soul, angst and drama then Blue Love is for you.

This book is a typical high school drama with a lot of on-and-off relationship theatrics.

Love and hate, going as an inseparable duo for most of the time is what defines this story.

Tessa is a normal, rather shy and insecure high school attendee. She's a field hockey player and has lots of friends. We get to know them all from different POVs. In addition she had great family, at least until her parents decided to take a break from each other, splitting the siblings. Is it her mother's fault? Or should we blame both of the parents for ensuing, rather drastic change in Tessa's behaviour including late nights flowing with alcohol?

Lucas in a new guy in school with a reputation of a player and long list of conquests. He set his sights on Tessa and she reluctantly jumped in his arms. He's full of himself but tries to change his outlook on relationship with a little encouragement from Tessa.

"What happens after Tessa is love. You told me that and I know it will be true with you. I love you, I want you forever, and I don’t want to share you with anyone. I want to make you smile for the rest of our lives, love is what happens, just a deeper version of what we have now”

“You know Tessa I am scared too,” he admitted, “I have been with lots of girls, even thought I was in love once. But nothing like what I have with you, I have never felt this way, ever about anyone, not even my parents Tessa. You want what’s best for me"

However how it unwinds is a long story and it's going to be continued throughout the series.

All I can say is not everything is what it seems to be and some things don't change.

Taking responsibility for your actions is an act of growing up after all...

"Lucas knew that this man cared for her, but it didn’t make this any easier. He broke her, she told him so, and now Toby was going to fix her. Because I don’t know how, he thought."

Well not really sure what I think about that.

The editing I will tell you right off the bat is dreadful. Almost painful. There are moments when I almost don't know who is talking.. But that wasn't my biggest issue...

This book had HUGE potential, I mean the plot could have been just down right amazing, but the way that it was laid out, made it anything but.

First of all I am not stuck up, so I have no issue with cheating, in fact it adds to the angst and I LOVE that in my books, and boy did this book have a lot of it, but the author brought in too many people. I was not sure whose story it was in certain moments and I didn't like that. I am all for support characters, but I was choking on them..

Lastly here is my biggest complaint of all.. Authors need to stop making such huge mediocre books into series, in which you have to pick up book after book (this series has 4 or 5) just to find out how it ends. I looked ahead, because I have no intentions of buying anything in this series, due to the editing for this one, I grabbed for free I am about to spoil all the books so stop reading if you intend to read any of them

DNF 20%

The writing is so confusing

On top of that, I decided to read spoilers for the rest of the series. I knew in advance the Hero was a cheating as*hole but I didn't know there was such a long separation between the MCs

Per the author's website, this is a revised and newly edited version of her previously released Love Series and will be book one of a four book series. The rest of the series is slated for re-release in October.

This is story about a rural, farming community in New York which was hit by budget cuts, so several small schools had to merge together. This brought in new faces and new people to ogle in a small town high school and the drama that comes with it.

This story focuses on Tessa Ross who is the third of a five child farm family. Her family has gone through quite a bit of tragedy and about to go through another one. Tessa was brought up to live according to good Bible values, but is a little taken back by her mother's motto of "Do as I say and not as I do." Tessa begins to rebel, but is held at bay by her family and friends.

Lucas Links (cool name, right?) is the star quarterback that was transferred this school year, but he came with a reputation and a line of eager admirers. Wherever he goes, girls stop and stare and everyone knows his reputation. He lived up to that reputation proudly until he laid eyes on Tessa.

They are an unlikely pair- the star quarterback with an alcoholic mother and absentee father who tries to buy his love and an innocent field hockey player with an overprotective and religious, but broken family. He falls hard and fast and she is not too far behind him.

This is labeled as New Adult, but reads a lot like a Young Adult. It started out a little confusing because there was a lot of swapping between points of view, and the 3rd person makes it a little confusing at times because you don't feel as connected to any one particular character, but it smooths out about 25% of the way in. The "L" word seemed to come rather quick, but seemed more believable after a little more character development. The key is to remember they are seniors in high school and have that mentality.

I can't decide if I like Tessa or not. She started out annoying with all her purity, then you started to see she had a fire in her and how she went against Sadi and the blonde trio at the field hockey game was just badass and then I really liked her. I then felt she got annoying again after the Sadi drama and just seemed real whiny and crazy towards the end and I had enough of her and wanted to just shake some sense into her, but again had to remind myself she is only 18!

I liked that Lucas figured out in high school that you can't assume things and you have to talk it out and he chose to come clean off the bat instead of just being angry or keeping secrets. Unfortunately, Tessa didn't get the memo and instead chose to stew over a misunderstanding. What's a romance without angst though? I had a few moments where I was really disappointed in Lucas when he had some real guy moments (like the Sadi incident? What was he thinking?!), but overall liked him and felt he was pretty mature for his age and felt he loved beyond what was expected. He reminded me a lot of Jude Ryder (funny how Lucas is being scouted by Syracuse too).

The whole build-up to the big moment was kinda obnoxious and Tessa was so not nice to Lucas. Poor guy. He went through a lot of uncomfortable moments. I had sexual tension just reading this!

So, after I am all done with this book, all I can think is, "What just happened?" This book is hard to describe. First, you think it's about teen first love. Then, you think it's about overcoming adversity and then realizing love can conquer all. Then, you think it's about how life is ugly and raw and bites you in the ass. Then, I think it's about the craziness of teenage love and how it's not based on reality at all, but selfishness until they get a real feel for life. This book started out superficial and about simple things, then got heavy. There was a lot of empty space at times where I felt like skimming through cause I didn't think there was a point to some of what I considered "filler." There was some parts where I didn't understand what was happening such as the continuous nightmare, the discovery in the trash, "the sickness", and the awake reunion with Lucas. It just sorta jumped in there and didn't make any sense. I'm hoping this is all spelled out in the next four books. I went through a lot of emotions in this book including tears, which were the angry kind. There are a lot of WTF moments in this book that aren't really resolved, so you are just left confused. There isn't a yucky cliffhanger, but you are left with a lot of "What just happened" moments. Overall, I guess I really liked this book cause I couldn't put it down and finished it in less than 48 hours. I felt a lot in this book and am still trying to process all those feelings having just finished it. This is a sign of a good writer to me- one who leaves me feeling what the characters felt and wanting more. Please October come quick so I can find out what happens and have some peace. I'm hoping I'm right about Sadi, but still not sure what I want to happen between Tessa and Lucas. Sigh....

This book...this damn book...will make your emotions it's b*tch with no remorse!

The story will take you back to a time of first... everything.
Tessa Ross, high school senior, queen of field hockey, has never been kissed.
Lucas Links, high school football star, broken boy, new to Blue Valley High has been kissed more than once.

I really don't know what to say without giving anything away.
This story will make you hate Lucas and feel heart broken for him all in one felt swoop. You will curse his name more than once!
This book is my number 1 favorite book. Trust and believe it will be reread.
Lucas is my safe place. I hope he can be yours too.

this book shattered me. Ladies get out some kleenex for Lucas will tug at those heartstrings especially when he is trying to do the right think even if it means losing Tessa. At times it is hard to read because of the stylistic writing being a little choppy but the emotions and beauty of the book will have you forget that.

Lucas is a messed up broken young man who doesn't know any other way to be but incorrigible. He has woman like we take breathes. that is until Tessa. Tessa changes that. From the moment he sees her she is all he desires. No one else compares. He wants to change and be the man she deserves. Of course there are speedbumps along the way. Okay many many speed bumps but he tries.

He even tries to reconcile his family life and get closer to them. All this is shattered though with one one from Sadi. Sadi Sadi Sadi your name says it all you are one sad sad creature. Your desire to be loved and have what you think is yours and yours only destroys all the goodness and sucks all the happiness out of everyone. She is spiteful and downright nuts. Her plan to destroy and conquer works and it will kill you to see.

Lucas and Tessa struggle to deal. Tessa even gets a new boyfriend and Lucas, while his heart is ripping from his chest, encourages and supports her because he knows it is for the best. But is it? Is it really?

You will laugh, cry, and aah and such a wonderfully romantic and heartbreaking read. The next book though better have some happiness for Lucas and this whole series I hope ends with a HEA for Lucas and Tessa for I want them together.

Blue Love written by MJ Fields is a powerful love story between two seniors in High School. Tessa is your typical average teenager. She is very involved in church and helping her family. She is also a field Hockey player along with her three best friends, one of which is her cousin Jade. Lucas is a wild teenager, he really has no boundries since his parents have let him roam free most of his life. Due to a family trajedy Tessa's brother Alex is in the same grade as her and Jade. Alex joins the footbal team where he meets friends, Lucas and Tommy. Lucas and Tommy find themselves lusting over Jade and Tessa. Tessa has a strong connection with Lucas from the beginning. This is where their love with be tested. Lucas wants to be the good guy he knows Tessa deserves, but everything from his past keeps coming back to haunt him. Tessa want to stay true to herself but when she's with Lucas she tends to find herself slipping into his ways. All the while their two best friends, who are a couple, have to stand by and watch their love destruct both their lives. Blue Love shows a interesting side to a love story where not everything is perfect and is happily ever after. It shows how tragic love can be, and how hard people have to fight to keep it even if it means hurting more in the end. Mj Fields has written Blue Love beautifully and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the Love Series. I can't wait to find out where it takes Lucas and Tessa.

High school drama and angst to the nth degree -- some of it very serious in nature and others just plain cray-cray and silly. The book does draw your attention quickly and even when I was amused and thinking why am I reading this, I still read on and couldn't stop. The writing was choppy and there were numerous editing problems -- some of the lazy non-proofed type which drives me over the ledge. It could have been a much cleaner and easier read.

The characters are entertaining, both main and secondary. It is the first book in the Love Series. At this point I'm going to continue on to the next book for the sake of curiosity, if for no other reason. There were some major unanswered questions and a big cliffhanger hanging over our main characters' heads. Be forewarned that there are numerous storylines going on in this book -- which appeals to me, especially in one such as this. I get bored quickly otherwise.

Fastest DNF ever at 3%. Horrible writing style that bounces back and forth between more than 2 characters. There are also about 20 characters all introduced to you in the first couple of chapters. There are also countless grammatical errors and the conversations are short and staccato.

I have read reviews that say to keep going and that it gets better...I may try to read this one later. I just can't stomach it so far and don't have the patience....

Tessa a young lady with so much going on and then Lucas the quarterback notices and likes her. Young first love is painful and memorable.
Get ready for an emotional storyline loaded with a love hate , for me, reading experience. MJ Fields is so very talented with developing these characters and I’m looking forward to the next book!

This is Lucas Links and Tessa Ross’s emotional roller coaster of a ride and I do have to say there may be triggers for some readers. It’s a captivating read that will certainly draw you in from the first few pages and it won’t let you go until the final words have been read.
Lucas is the star quarterback and he is loving the life, not wanting for anything and having his choice of girls but when Tessa catches his eye he is about to find out the meaning of true love.
Tessa is determined to what’s right but she has so much going on in her life it’s hard to see the wood from the trees but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an instant attraction with Lucas.
This is a story of first love and the drama and hurt it can cause, this couple both have family issues to deal with, it’s an emotional read, especially when the past comes back to haunt Lucas. If you love books that have love, drama, angst and heart this is the book for you.

An Outstanding Emotional Romance .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Blue Love . This story is one of my favorite stories . I love this story but it rips out my heart with emotions . It definitely has triggers for me but I powered through because it's amazing . Tessa is so loving and beautiful I love her . Lucas has a lot to be desired I hate him and love him . His family dynamics have really messed him up . I could punch him in the face and hug him at the same time . This story is absolutely spectacular . It shows you young love is not always kind . Hats off for an amazing story . It has all the feels . It definitely requires tissues . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

OH MY GOODNESS..OH MY GOODNESS!!!!
I have never held my breath while reading
a book like I did when I was reading BLUE
LOVE BY MJ FIELDS! Just WOW! I loved
the story of Tessa and Lucas, two 18
years old in high school trying to deal
with a relationship, love, family, and one
messed up skanky miserable ex
girlfriend. Now see Tessa is a wholesome
girl who lives on the farm with her mom,
dad, older brother Alex, older sister Molly
and two younger siblings Kendall, and
Jake. Tessa goes to church, sings in the
church choir with her cousin Jade, and
friends Becca and Phoebe, as well as
plays on the field hockey team at school.
Now Lucas? He is the star quarterback of
the Varsity football team. His home life?
Drunk mom divorced from his
philandering dad since he was 3. Lucas
has 2 younger sisters from his dad's 4th
marriage but doesn't really see them.
Lucas has his best friend by his side. His
name? Tommy. Lucas and Tommy start
at the high school as transfers because
the schools relocated them and Lucas's
ex Sadi. Lucas takes an immediate liking
to Tessa. Same with Tommy to Jade.
Jade does a naughty thing and gives
Lucas Tessa's cell. Hehe I loved this! I
love how Tessa is quirky and Stubborn
and Strong.. Man I want her! LMAO Here's
a little fun blurb.."YOU LOOK HOT
TESSA...LL" SHE ROLLED HER EYES,
IGNORED IT, AND PUT THE PHONE IN
HER BAG.

"IS THAT HOW IT'S GOING TO BE
TESSA?"

"OH I'M SORRY... WAS THAT FROM
YOU?"

"YOU'RE NOT USED TO THIS KIND OF
ATTENTION, ARE YOU?"

"YOU NEED TO GET USED TO IT TESSA.
I'M GOING TO BE WATCHING YOU."

"SOUNDS KIND OF STALKER-ISH, LL."

"NO TESS, JUST SOMEONE WHO
ADMIRES YOUR ASSETS."

There is more to that banter but OMG I
was cracking up! Lucas is relentless! Now
Lucas has a deep dark secret.. What's
that? you wanna know? WELL GUESS
WHAT I'M NOT GONNA TELL YOU! (EVIL
LAUGHS) hehe sorry no spoilers but I
LOVED LOVED LOVED this story! I need
more, NO I WANT MORE! I crave more!!! I
was completely in a love/hate
relationship with these too characters.. I
mean GAH! my head was spinning so fast
with this book! One minute they were hot
the next minute they were cold!! Like with
this text message Lucas sent Tessa."SHE
IS MORE PRECIOUS TO ME EVERYDAY.
HER INNOCENCE AND HEART ARE PURE
AND PERFECT. I WANT TO BE HER SOFT
PLACE TO LAND WHEN SHE FEELS LIKE
FALLING. I DREAM OF MAKING HER AS
HAPPY AS SHE MAKE ME ...I HAVE TO
BECOME THE MAN SHE DESERVES. TO
LOVE AND TAKE CARE OF HER
ALWAYS...LYA LUCAS."

*Sigh* Oh Lucas, Lucas, Lucas... So I am
completely in love with this book and MJ
FIELDS, I NEED MORE!!!!! I need to know

I agreed to write an honest review of an advanced reader copy and here it is.

I hate Lucas Links and I love him at the same time. The emotional rollercoaster that comes with this book is like no other book I have ever read. While reading, I often found myself reminiscing about my own first love and I simply could not put it down. MJ Fields has knocked it out of the park once again. ❤

Blue love

“You’re not use to this kind of attention, are you?”

“You need to get used to it Tessa. I’m going to be watching you.”

“Sounds kind of stalker-ish, LL”

This book made me giggle. I felt like I was 16 again.
(Although when I was this age- text & Internet did not exist. Shhhh!)
My emotions were UP and DOWN!
I felt like I was five seconds from having a HS drama induced meltdown at any moment. Insanity! I was all over the place. Emotions run high in this story.

"I held you today at the same time I let you go. I will trust in what I feel for the first time, you will be part of me forever. I am forever changed because of you."

Tessa is a senior in Highschool. Her life is perfectly perfect, errr negative it isn't anymore. Things happen that change her world upside down.
She has held so steadfast to being perfect and doing everything right, what will happen now?
The school has new faces this year.
One being Lucas. Swoon! Yes he is that boy in HS you know is bad for you, has the rep. Although you still think of him. All the girls do.
There is a line about being on the leg that I literally snorted with laughter.
We have a lot going on in this book.
Multiple stories at once. Jade ..and the backstory. It's all very intertwined and really captured the small town high school feel. It felt like I was sitting in the lunchroom getting the lowdown from my BFF.
First love is sweet - first love is sad - first love walks a thin line between Love & Hate! It's hard to learn to love when you don't even know who you are yet, what your made of. It felt very real.

“You are so much different than most girls I’ve met, you’re special, you’re perfect, and I Love You Tessa Ross,”

So if you want a swoon worthy leading man. A sweet and learning to find her way leading lady. This is your book. It's truly a sweet coming of age story. It's heartfelt and real.
It took me back and made me remember.
Gosh I'm that old! Lol! Congrats and well done.

Tessa and Lucas' beginning story was nothing but turmoil and drama. I felt exhausted by the end with the constant back and forth with I love you, I hate you, I want you, I don't. And for a virgin Tessa sure moved fast with all three guys she was with in this book. It was frustrating to read but I was still drawn into the story and now have to read the rest to know where Lucas and Tessa end up. If Sadi really is pregnant I'll eat my shirt. I want everyone to get their HEA- except maybe Sadi......lol! Oh, and MJ? It's Blue October, not Blue December that sings Hate Me. They're my favorite band from my hometown so I noticed that typo right off. ;) Kellie

3.5 stars. The writing style in the beginning of this book gave me whiplash, but it got better once I got the hang of it. The character's POV were all over the place. Lost some points for grammar things (these usually don't bother me) like saying "hu" instead of "huh" and using shake your head for yes and no instead of nod. Unless the author said "shook their head yes" I got confused EVERY time. I liked the book - I was reminded of a mix between Tijan and Keatyn Chronicles and I will definitely read book 2.

I'm about to begin book 3 of this series and I am so filled with angst I'm dying a little inside.
This book has been playing on my mind and it kind of goes on and on. No reprieve. It's like I want this series to end so I can be put out of my misery because like really???
Why.
I recommend this series to everyone. I don't know about you all but I truly think there's a little of everyone's story in here. I love how real it is. I mean books sugarcoat shit and make it fictional obviously for a HEA. But what if it isn't..
