This genre is a bit of a stretch for me, but I wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone. Even though it is labelled as “Erotic Romance/Erotica,” it feels very much like a Romantic Suspense novel only with more graphic sex.

Leigh wastes no time in getting right into the naughty bits! Piper Mackay is a 24 year-old woman who lives with her two sisters at Mackay's Bed & Breakfast Inn owned by her mother in Somerset, Kentucky. She has had a crush for the past year on the man who has been staying in the room next to hers, Jedidiah "Jed" Booker. He says that he is in the construction trade and is working on some projects in town, but Piper has her suspicions that there is more to him than meets the eye. She lets herself into Jed’s room, presumably to clean it, just as Jed exits from the shower in just a towel. In the next moment, the two are in a hot clinch and Piper is pressed up against the wall with her legs wrapped around his waist. They get interrupted, and Piper is thankful because she worries that Jed is as controlling as her half-brother, Dawg. Jed scrawls his telephone number in her journal and tells her to call him when she's ready to give him a chance.

Piper is a small-scale fashion designer and dreams of hitting the big time. Dawg and her male cousins are very overprotective of Piper and her sisters, and none of them can go anywhere unaccompanied by a chaperone. When Piper receives a letter from a fashion mogul in New York expressing an interest in her designs, she sneaks away without telling anyone that she is leaving the state. She ends up getting roughed up in her hotel room just as she is checking out of the hotel, and her purse with her identification is stolen. The hospital staff find Jed's phone number in Piper's journal and call him to ask for permission to treat Piper who is unconscious. The knight in shining armour rides out to Piper’s rescue.

There is no question that Leigh can write hot and sexy scenes. I was okay with that, even though this book is a lot more explicit than what I am used to. What I am not okay with is reading about a woman getting knocked around. Poor Piper gets assaulted by men on two separate occasions, and the second time she wound up in the hospital with a concussion. I do not know enough about Leigh’s work to know whether this is a common element in her books, but I didn’t like it.

I love Alpha males who are protective, but I don’t care for overbearing and domineering. Jed does not have these negative qualities, but Dawg and Piper’s cousins are control freaks. At the end of the book when Piper is just about to find out the truth about what is going on, she decides she does not need to know and walks away and leaves the matter in the hands of Dawg and her cousins to deal with. What?!? Piper is way too subservient for my liking.

This novella is part of the Nautier and Wilder anthology by Leigh and Jaci Burton, which is also a part of Leigh’s popular Nauti series. Even though I haven’t read any other books in the Nauti series, I didn’t have any difficulty in following along.

There were definite parts of the story that I didn’t like, but I think the racy parts made up for it! Overall, I enjoyed it but I do not think that I will read any other books in the Nauti series. It sounds like Leigh’s Breeds series, which are Paranormal Romances, would be more enjoyable for me, and I will be trying it out.

Manxie Hardy is a new-to-me narrator, and she was okay but some of her male vocalizations grated on me. Dawg sounded like a redneck brute with more brawn than brains.

I received this audiobook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive any compensation for my review, and the views expressed herein are my own.

First of all - the book synopsis at the top of the page has NOTHING to do with the book! "Lora Leigh... revisits that sultry and sinfully good Southern landscape (NO!) with a story of a young woman whose desire for a Boston attorney (Definitely not!!!)draws them both into a dangerous undercover investigation (NOPE!), and an adversary as lethal as he is relentless (NOPE!!)." > What the hell??!!

I liked it even though it was a bit of a stretch... All the elements were ok but just unconvincing!
The romance was rushed (hero and heroine already knew each other for a year at the start of the book so that "newness" just isn't there)... They just jumped into having sex with little intro to the reader.

The over protectiveness of the brother and cousins was just over-the-top > not sure why the sisters would always be in so much danger just because the brother (Dawg??? Really???) works for Homeland Security ???!! Soo that was very annoying!!!
Then there was the "action/mystery" - that was ok, but pretty unconvincing....

Overall, not sure why i liked it but - i did like it ! Just a quick, mindless read...

First time listening to an audio, not sure I'll ever do it again. Had to stop at chapter nine so I can finish reading on my own.

Not liking this book. Piper really got on my nerves and she wondered why she was treated like a child. Maybe because she acted like one with her constant crying and all she did was whine. Even after getting her ass kicked her first time out she still played the part of the poor unfortunate girl who can never do anything. Boo freaken hoo

If she would have just acted like the adult she claimed to be and just came flat out and said I'm going she probably could have avoided all the drama. And I say if Dawg wants to be all up in their business then let him risk catching an eye full of something he don't wanna see. He'll learn sooner or later.

Not sure if I wanna finish this series, I really hate to read about immature characters who try to whine to get their way. Plus I was not feeling the connection between thes MCs.

You know how you sometimes decide to go without cake for some time, and when you finally allow yourself one slice of cake you hope to whatever you consider holy that the cake is worth the wait? Well let me tell you - this cake was not worth the wait. I've been on an Erotica hiatus for quite some time now and books like Nauti Siren is the reason why. I understand that these sort of books are just right for some, which is great, but I find it tricky to find good Erotica that isn't necessarily all about the romantic and fatalistic bullshittery most Erotica seems to be. You know, actually good literature and not cheap cookie cutter softcore porn.

First of all, I might be missing something (a lot of somethings I suspect since this was my first in the Nauti series) but you shouldn't start a book with a sex scene. It's just weird, especially if your book is all about romantic/erotic suspense between the couple that's getting it on even before the first freakin' chapter.

I have never been a fan of the macho culture where the "males" are big, scary, military, rich and unsurprisingly overprotective over the "females". Nauti Siren - and I suspect the entire series - is a perfect example of this. All the "males" in the main heroine's life are some sort of agents, the growly types who don't talk much but have no problem using violence to deal with just about anything. The heroine herself is the trembly kind of girl, needing males to look after her despite her supposed need for independence. It's very telling how she ends up in trouble after doing something alone for once in her life. Silly woman, she should have known better than to aim to realize her own personal dreams.

Another interesting bit about the novella was how you could tell by just the physical descriptions if the characters were "good" or "evil". That's so... 20th century. The bad guys were either scarred in some hideous ways or effeminate - not big, hunky, ruggedly handsome but flawless like all the good guys. It's interesting how this perception of outer beauty meaning inner beauty and ugly (or unmanly) being ugly on the inside is still a thing, and not just in kids' cartoons. It just seems so simplistic and even childish.

All in all, I can't really recommend this to anyone who'd like their romance to be at least somewhat gender equal, or who don't hold with very narrow gender images, or who'd like a book with a plot, or who'd like their Erotica with either suspense or steam, or who'd want their books at least a little bit realistic, or who can't stand cardboard characters or lack of chemistry between a main couple. Anyone else, I'm sure you can try if this book is down your alley.

If I see the name of this narrator on another audiobook I will pass it up. Quickly. Her interpretation of the male voices in the novel is cringeworthy. It’s so hard to get through.

1st time I listened one of these kinds of books on audio. Oh boy, what a mistake! Really spoils the mood to hear the male hero's lines in a woman's voice. *shudders*

Nauti girls / sister #2 / Piper Mackay - dress designer/dreamer - truly getting pissed at Dawg et al for their overprotective ways - staying away from Jed as she can see he could so easily be like Dawg...

Jedediah Booker, United States Protective Service agent (to protect US assets), undercover as contractor (as part of his father's real construction company)...

Jed appreciates that Piper needs freedom to make her own choices, as difficult as it is... but comes to her rescue when the hospital calls... and once he rescues her, he's not letting go.

She secretly goes to NY to show her designs to Eldon Vessante - who says if she cooperates in his bedroom, he'll set her up with her own fashion show... she says no... and since the trip is no longer paid for, she returns her rental car, and goes to check out of the hotel... her chotkeys (rhinestones, fake jewels, sequins for her designs) fall on the floor of the rental car, and she sweeps them all up... not realizing that real jewels smuggled in from Russian were under the back seat, and get mixed in with her purchases... the bad guys want them back... when she is expecting the bell hop, the muscle comes in, knocks her around - she screams and screams (as Dawg taught her), and just as she passes out, the thug runs out when the guys in room next door rush in ... Jed comes to the hospital for her... and he's not leaving her...

All comes out and Jed & Dawg set a trap... and catch the bad guys... and as Piper is waiting to see what happened, she finally understands Dawg's fear and overprotectiveness... and Jed helps her to see how to teach Dawg (and herself) how to safely assert herself...

introduces Broecun - double agent via the mafia... love interest for one of the 2 sisters left.

Nauti Siren is a novella book 7 in the Nauti series, by Lora Leigh. I must admit, the cover lust got me, and I wanted to licktothetop . I don’t know how you gals can dance in stilettoes, but at my height of 6’4”, they make eye/lips contact much easier.

Not having read the first six books, I enjoyed the Steamy scenes, but being an equalist, and not terribly fond of domineering and overbearing alpha males like Jed. Physical protection and caring, yes, prevention of letting gals be knocked around is imperative. Piper, I thought was way too subservient and takes unreasonable risks.

I like Lora Leigh’s books, and the story was very well constructed packed with action, intrigue, unique clues. Sisters, cousins and Dawg contributed to the story interestingly.

Overall, I liked this short novella, and will probably check into the rest of the Nauti realm.

Not bad, I would put this in more of the Romantic suspense category, than the erotic that the rest of the Nauti series has been. The sex scenes were steamy, just few and far between.

The story was good, but the Nauti Girls books seem to be lacking compared to the Nauti Boys. Although I really liked Jed, normally you like guys like that and just accept that they can act like a douche sometimes. Jed on the other hand, was perfectly sweet, sexy, and badass without any of the doucheyness.

The epilog was a bit confusing, I guess that will be sorted out in the next book.

It was okay, but seemed a bit rushed. I have been with Lora Leigh since Rowdy's story and I have enjoyed all the Nauti Boys. I'm onto the girls now, but so far not enjoying them as much as I am with the other series. Dawg is unbelievably unbearable in this new series which says a lot since him and Natches were my fav boys from their series. Hopefully they get better with Lyrica's story.

An awesome story! Lora Leigh never fails to deliver! Im not one for short stories, because they usually seem rushed, but this story was paced just right, and was well rounded. Can't wait for Lyrica's story! (There was a teaser for it at the end of this story)

I wasn't able to finish it. I found myself getting so annoyed with Piper that it wasn't worth it. Jed is a creep for spying on her with surveillance cameras.
