“What the fuck do you mean wait? I can feel your terror now. Something has happened and either you tell me now, or I’m coming down there now.” Alistair was being held close to the man behind him and begged Ryland to stay away.

“You’ll only get yourself killed, and your wife will kill me if you do.” He took a deep breath as they moved in the hall and Alistair got his first look around. “I’m being held with a gun to my head to be, as he put it, a shield. Call for help but stay away, please. I can see seven bodies right in front of me, and I don’t want to see you among them. Please, Ryland, listen to me for once.”

Then a lovely woman steps in front of Alistair and his would be killer. She was going to get him killed he just knew it. But when she kills his would be assassin and gets shot in the process he can only think of one thing. She’s his mate.

Ally is on the run and has no idea why she’d stepped in to save the arrogant lawyer. She detests them as a general rule, and since her ex-husband is one…well, Ally doesn’t want anything to do with the handsome man.

Lance Isaac wants his wife back―he needs her back―to die for him. But when Alistair steps in and takes her away Lance decides to kill them both.

The Golden men stick together. Especially when it comes to saving the women of their streak. Alistair knows his brothers will help him keep his mate safe but will she let them? It certainly doesn’t seem that way. But when Lance shows up telling him that Allyson is his, Alistair decides to show him that messing with his family is as good as stepping in front of a moving train. It just isn’t a smart move―but then again Lance isn’t all that smart.

Ryland isn’t the only sexy Golden. Find out in the next installment of the Golden Streak Series―Alistair.

If you follow my reviews then you know I've started on a series I found by Kathi S. Barton that I hadn't read before. 'Alistair' is book two of her "Golden Streak" series and it's just as hot and intriguing as the first book, 'Ryland' was. Alistair is the second of six sons in the Golden family and an attorney by trade. He was just leaving the courtroom when someone on the other side of the door started shooting people and then wound up taking Alistair as his human shield. Of course, his older brother Ryland had felt his terror immediately and contacted Alistair through their link where he was asked to contact the police to get some help there immediately. Nine people were shot and killed when an unknown young woman, Allyson, started talking to the shooter claiming to be on his side and wanting to escape as well. The more she talked to the shooter the closer she got, trying to build his trust. When she finally achieved her goal of getting close to both men she wound up stabbing and killing the shooter but it came at a price. He'd shot her in the stomach. Before Alistair could gather his wits about him she had left. Now he was on a frantic mission to find the woman who saved his life and who needed medical attention but she seemingly vanished into thin air. Allyson, aka Ally, was on the run and hiding from her abusive ex-husband. She couldn't even begin to understand why she had gotten involved in the first place. She was just going to try to help one of the officers before he wound up being killed. She knew she had to keep a low profile or she'd wind up being caught and punished again and she had no intention of that happening. These two characters have the insta-attraction, overwhelming lust, hot as blue blazes chemistry for each other that just seemed to make the intrigue of her tormentor that much more intense. If I thought the first book was an indication this series would be good then this one sealed the deal. I want more!!

I'm guessing that all the rave reviews are from friends and families. This book is actually pretty good. But the editing is horrible. It is impossible for a book that is so badly edited to warrant 5 stars.

And I thought you had to be really smart to go to law school and pass the bar. From the way the bad guy is written, I guess I was wrong. Can you get a law degree by mail? From a matchbook cover? I mean the character, the over the top bad guy, was fun to read about, but he was a complete idiot. I don't know how he was supposed to have gone through law school.

Alistair by Kathi S. Barton

Loved the characters, Ally and Alistair . Ally saved Alistair from a gunman . And he would help her while falling for her. Good storyline. The Cooks and Jed were amazing, Sandra and the rest of the Golden are here in the book.

Magnificent!

Alistair & Ally's story has a monster of an ex-husband & ex-monster-in-law trying to kill Ally for insurance money & they've done this before with his other wives. Alistair & Ally meet when Alistair was taken hostage by a gunman at a court house when Ally steps out from where she had been hiding from her ex to help Alistair get away from the gunman. Ally offers to pat down Alistair for the gunman & he agrees to let her do that; after she pats down the front of Alistair she asks the gunman to loosen up his hold on Alistair so that she can pat down his back & when the gunman does that she stabs the gunman in the heart & he dies but not before the gun goes off & she is shot. After all the chaos died down at the court house the Golden brothers go back in to look for Ally because Alistair knew she was his mate & by changing into their tiger forms they found her quickly & took her to their clinic so that she could get patched up. At 1st Ally doesn't trust Alistair because her ex is also a rich lawyer but she learns after a while to not only trust Alistair but to love him. I did skim over a lot of interesting parts in this review so that you could read this book on your own to find out all of the juiciest & interesting parts in this book. & like most series the other family members show up from time to time in this book & they also gain some non blood related family members too. This is a HEA story & can also be read as a standalone but it would be much more interesting to read all of the books in this series.

All together, I'd probably only rate this book 3.5 stars.

Although I love just about any book Kathi Barton writes, I just couldn't feel the connection between Alistair and Ally.

Alistair is the lawyer of the family. Just like his brothers he is a weretiger and possessive of those he loves and considers his. Not once did he think to meet his mate when he was being held hostage.

Ally is running from her abusive ex-husband. She never considered the reasons he was so determined to bring her back under his control. She doesn't want another man around to think he can boss her around and put her in her place.

Ally was in my opinion a very annoying characters. She kept comparing everything Alistair did to Lance (her ex). She determined to keep running and not let the Golden family protect her, even after she learns of their secret. I also got quite aggravated after the first time they had sex or claiming, she got upset and tried putting blame on him telling him he should've said no even after he warned her what would happen before he stuck it in her hehe.

Ally is running from her ex husband, he doesn't acknowledge she divorced him and will do anything to get her back. Hiding out in a courthouse is not a great idea and stepping in front of a gunman to save the man in a suit is probably even stupider, but she has do something. Alistair did not know what to make of the women who just saved his life, finding out she is his mate makes things more interesting. I just love the Golden family, they are just so much fun. Watching them struggle to make sense of the mates the fates gave them is always entertaining. The women give the appearance of needing to be saved when we first start to get to know them but along the way the steel in their spine becomes more and more obvious. The storyline is always interesting, the characters are fun and the situations they get themselves into are always exciting. Seeing these alpha males fall in love, make mistakes, protect the family and save the day is always a good way to spend the afternoon. I look forward to the next Golden to meet his match.

When Alister Golden gets caught in a crossfire and is being held hostage, a woman appears out of nowhere and saves his life. Shot and on the run, Alister intends to find her and claim her as his mate if he can find her first.

Ally has been running since the divorce of her ex whose abuse she could no longer live with. As a powerful lawyer though, he seems to always have an edge in finding her, but now that she has entangled herself in a bit of a mess, she fears he will find her again.

When Alister finds her and informs her that they are mates, she is freaked out for a ton of different reasons. As she begins to trust Alister she wishes for her new life, but will her ex ruin everything?

The second in the Golden Streak series. I liked Ally, she is a quieter mate but when her temper is flared watch out. I appreciated her reactions to stress, she is a bit of a baker when she feels frustrated. Very fun read.

Lady Law

Alistair Golden was in the wrong place at the right time to meet his mate Allyson (Ally). Ally was hiding out from her abusive ex husband who wanted her dead inside the courthouse. She was all but on the verge of wanting to just let it all end until she saved Alistair from a precarious situation. This was a truly hilarious read with such antics that I had some laugh out loud moments and the chemistry that just about blew my mind. I love the fact that each book features the whole family and you get to catch up on previous couples who got their HEA. It was a line in the book that made me fall in love with this story even more and it was when Alistair told Ally "I love you, Allyson Golden, so much that I can't breathe through it." Great read indeed!!!

Kathi S Barton never disappoints me! All I need to hear is she has a new book out, and I buy it blurb and reviews unread - highly unheard of from a picky reader like me! Her men are strong, and the women are just as strong. Fate wouldn't grace the "Golden Streak" with less than purr-fect mates. Barton skillfully weaves passion, fast-paced action, and humor with my all-time favorite: feline shifters. Kathi S Barton could only please me more if she introduced me to my very own tiger!

Alistair is the second book in the Golden Streak Series - Ally is on the run from her ex-husband – she saves Alistair from being shot but is shot herself. This story is about domestic violence and how Ally fights for her life. Alistair realizes he has found his mate and will do anything to save her. Another great read by Kathi S Barton. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

I loved this book. I am always amazed by the writing of Kathi S. Barton. I could not stop reading once I started, and then when I was done, I was so upset.

The book moved along at a great pace, loved the characters and the story was awesome.

I look forward to reading more books by Kathi in the near future.

Keep up the excellent stories and writing.
